The Take: *"Harry never gets punished for breaking the rules"* - Gets sent to the Forbidden Forest for breaking curfew. - Detention with Lockhart for flying the car to school. - Tortured by Umbridge for speaking up during class. - Suspended from the Quidditch team for getting in a fist fight. - Detention with Snape for nearly killing Malfoy. - As well as all the times he was punished by the Dursley's simply for existing.
@@parthvisharma5866 but the problem is Harry felt horrible about what he had done and i think that Snape WOULD NOT have care and be fair to also give Draco detention.
@@parthvisharma5866 and unlike Malfoy Harry had no idea what Sectumsempra did, sure he knew it would be bad but not unforgivable curse level bad. Meanwhile, Malfoy knew exactly what crucio did.
And that's even without all the times he got house points reduced, to the point where all of Gryffindor decided to not talk to him anymore for a couple of weeks.
Causing pain to Bellatrix? Even if Harry's cruciatus curse had worked his action would have been pretty justified. Its not like bellatrix is a kind, sweet woman
Dude Harry was mistreated by the Dursley’s and he still wanted to save them. That ain’t an anti hero. I’m glad that you chose to the correct the Take’s video on with facts.
You are right. He is not an Anti-Hero. An Anti-Hero does the right thing, but doesn't want to, nor has much interest in doing it. And they don't give a flying f@#% who dies in the process.
Things that harry did for other people: 1. Sticks up for Neville and goes after Draco to get Neville’s Remembrall back after Draco takes it. 2. Frees dobby from slavery. 3. Spends an entire book trying to solve the chamber of secrets mystery to save his classmates & friends from being killed or petrified 4. Goes down into the chamber of secrets with no regard to his own safety to save Ginny. 5. Goes after Ron to save him after Ron is dragged to the Shrieking Shack by Sirius. 6. Saves Sirius from getting the dementor’s kiss. Saves Buckbeak from execution 7. Spares Wormtail’s life. 8. Tries to reason with Ron when Ron gets jealous about Hermoine and Krum. Spends time with Hermoine when she is fighting with Ron, so she doesn’t feel neglected. 9. Forgives Ron for abandoning him after his name came out of the goblet of fire 10. Tells Cedric about the dragons even though Cedric is a competitor. 11. Almost dies trying to fulfill Cedric’s wishes and gets his body back to Hogwarts. 12. Hands over a bag of galleons to Fred and George and encourages them to start on their joke shop products. 13. Saves Dudley’s life during dementor attack 14. Starts up a secret club at the risk of getting in trouble, to help his friends learn how to defend themselves. 15. Goes to save Sirius in the dept of mysteries and tries not to let his friends follow him, for fear of their safety. 16. Pretends to give lucky potion to Ron to help boost his confidence in the quidditch match. 17. Goes after Hermoine to console her after she gets upset about Ron and Lavender kissing. 18. Saves Ron from being killed by poisoned mead. 19. Uses liquid luck to get what Dumbledore wanted. Gives the rest of the potion to his friends. 20. Shakes Dudley’s hand and forgives him for all the years of abuse and bullying 21. Encourages the Dursleys to accept protection from order of the phoenix even after how they treated him all those years, showing that he cares for their safety. 22. Forgives Ron AGAIN for abandoning him in deathly hallows. 23. Attempts to save wormtail AGAIN when he’s being choked by his own hand 24. Saves draco’s life 25. Literally walks to his death in order to save anyone else from being killed. 26. Forgives Snape for the years of abuse and bullying. 27. Forgives Dumbledore for not telling him things 28. Shows mercy to Voldemort and tries one last time to help him (by telling Voldemort to feel remorse so that he could repair his soul). The Take: HaRry TreATeD pEOple BadLY and IS nOT A rOLE mOdEL imagine saving your friends' lives multiple times, at your own peril, and having them say to you "you treat me badly". like damn, I would literally die for you, how much more do you want?? Harry tries to save even his enemies, this is ultimate hero quality. And let's just remember that Voldy is reason for pretty much all the suffering Harry had in his life. And Harry STILL didn't attempt the killing curse on Voldy in their final showdown. In fact, Harry doesn't attempt the killing curse, not even once throughout the whole series. Harry doesn't kill anyone in the whole series. Voldemort killed himself essentially, and ain't that poetic. Rowling was very clear in what kind of hero she wanted Harry to be. Even when Harry was at his worst point, which I would deem to be when Bellatrix killed Sirius right in front of his eyes, Harry still didn't attempt the killing curse. Yes, he tried the Crucio curse, but it didn't even work properly because his heart wasn't in it. Even at his worst moment when hatred and rage was so strong in him, that hatred and rage still wasn't enough to produce a proper Crucio curse. Meaning the good parts of Harry are still overwhelmingly present, even at his lowest moment. He couldn't bring himself to kill Bellatrix even at his lowest moment, even when goaded by Voldemort. edit: alright, if you read all the way through this long-ass comment, I hope you got as inspired by harry potter as I got! Them citing him not paying attention in his first potions class as evidence that he's egotistical while showing the clip of him taking notes of Snape's speech (a comedic example of him being eagered to learn magic) is self parody
I think he was the only one taking notes (at least in the film) and that's to be commended and not mocked. Pardon my language, Severus Snape is a petty, greasy-haired, little bitch. God, it's so good to say.
I noticed that the second time I watched the movie, I was angry that Snape diddent even take a look at what he was writing diddent even think maybe he was taking notes 😤.
Exactly! They gloss over the fact that, despite who his parents were, Harry has been raised completely oblivious to the Wizarding world and has absolutely no knowledge of how that world works. He is clearly trying to learn when he is taking notes, but Snape is just too prejudiced by the bullying he received from James and his pals to be willing to give Harry a fair chance.
@@bonjour570 Rita makes rude stories but would never say anything nice about Hermione like The Take does. Umbridge is impressed by Hermione even if she doesn’t like that she’s impressed by Hermione
That is such a bizarre take because Harry is one of the sweetest characters I've ever read about. One of his most admiral traits is his ability to love and forgive. He even named his son after a man who hated him for existing, and it was not out of spite but as a way to honor him.
“But perhaps Hermione is the *truest* hero of the series” the Take says *as they show a clip of Hermione using the body-bind curse on Neville so that she and the others can break the exact same rules they accuse Harry of breaking.* Yeah, great logic there. (Note the obvious sarcasm, in case you missed it)
@Someone 333 It wasn't forever. But she did have them for at least a few years. I'm pretty sure she also had acne scars. Not permanent, but still pretty bad.
Harry went through so much hell so that he was depressed. That caused his temper outbursts. For me his major character flaw is the fact that if he hates someone he is unwilling to see bigger picture. Like he never asks himself why this man who hates him so much saved his life. I know it was convenient.
That's what I like about him even if he doesn't agree with what they say he wasn't mean spirited about it like other RUclipsrs or reviewers or critics would be
I think we can all agree that the golden trio are very mature for their ages. When they were fifteen, they started a program to teach people how to protect themselves from Voldemort if he returned, and risked a lot trying to save Sirius while James and Sirius were bullying Snape at that age. And at 17 the three of them were literally trying to save the world while when Dumbledore was their age, all he could think about was finding the three hallows.
I’d also add Harry’s anti-Slytherin views is a wary bias vs. outright bigotry. His bully is Slytherin, his parents’ killer is Slytherin, his mean teacher is Slytherin, and when he saw Tom Riddle’s memory in chamber of secrets he empathized with him right away to the point of actually considering Hagrid being behind the attacks. It’s less “Harry is hateful” and more “Harry is cautious.”
Not to mention the slytherins made fun of Ron when he was on the quidditch team by singing "Weasley is our King" The Only slytherin harry liked was Professor Slughorn.
@@AhsokaTano1999and the majority of Voldemort's followers were Slytherins. Umbridge was also a Slytherin. And the Slytherins were mostly shown to believe in bad sentiments (think Mrs. Black and the horrible things she screamed to her son and the Order.)

(And let’s get out of the point of the literature’s point of view that needs negative side of a complete “body”, let’s call it that way)- what kind of realistic school would agree to contain a house such as Slytherin, that many of their students go out to be bullies, killers, racists, terrorists etc?

I don’t get The Take. In HBP, when Harry almost killed Draco, in the book, Harry was *on his knees next to him, almost in tears because he almost killed someone*
I really wish that in the film they also had Harry react this way to casting Sectumsempra on Draco. I thought throughout the half-blood prince and Order of the Phoenix, the point was that he didn’t want to be like voldemort. So he should react like how he did in the books to almost killing someone, instead of just standing there watching Draco writhe in pain
On the topic of Harry being a 'typical' male hero, I gotta say he is a far better role model for young boys (and girls) than most modern day male heroes. And this was a story written in the 90's, where boys were still expected to be 'tough' and unemotional.
exactly! also the fact that Harry is a hero because of his sacrifice, and most male heroes that we see are heroes based on their brawn alone. harry is a hero because of his kindness and so many other traits that we rarely see anymore in heroes today
Harry Potter is possibly one of the most relatable, realistically-written, and likable series protagonists in the modern world and maybe even in history. He isn’t portrayed as a Mary Sue who is perfect and never acknowledges his flaws. He learns from his mistakes and acts emotionally in certain situations, like a normal human being. And we see him grounded in casual situations to build his character and still make him interesting.
When the Take said that Hermione should have been the hero, it plays a clip of her immobilizing Neville, which if Harry did the take would include it as one example of him being cruel and bloodthirsty
The take forgot to mention that Harry is an animal abuser who stabbed an innocent snake with his sword...Btw, the snake was gay so Harry is also a homophobe. (Sarcasm)
Harry Potter is neither a villain nor anti-hero. He’s a true hero! That lady forgot that Harry sacrificed himself to protect his friends, family and to the entire wizarding world from the most dangerous and sadistic tyrant in history. A true hero is measured by the strength of his ❤️.
Hey i would like to know do you think we should get a last story with harry potter facing off a new villain and then ends his story and then give a new hero a time to shine
I completely agree and he was 17 when he chose to give up everything and walk to his death purely for the greater good, some could say he let people die for him but choices had always been the deciding factor whether that being Harry's house or becoming a homicidal maniac (Voldy) choices led people to take their role within the battle meaning Remus, Tonks ect. To say that Harry is anything less than than a hero that was entitled is stupid, I mean the kid had no moral guidance but it shows that in the 10 years of living with the Dursleys he managed to have qualities about him though the influence he got was no way near to being kind or fair that video he counter argued has made me so mad, sorry for ranting things you probably already know 😂😂
It’s like they didn’t see the movies. They say he does cruel things to be heroic but then show a clip of umbrigde being taken by the centaurs wich was hermions idea. They say he snap at the people closest to him and show a clip of Harry snapping at Semaus for calling him liar. They say he often choose violence and shows a clip of him saving the man that murder his parents and turn him into the justices system, instead of taking revenge himself. Also they called Harry selfish and self centered like when he was 12 and thought he was dying in the chamber of secrets he wasn’t thinking about himself, he tries to comfort Fawkes and tell him he did a good job and Harry just wasn’t fast enough.
They also say he's dismissive of Ron's feelings in the goblet of fire, when it was Ron being a horrible friend because he was just jealous. Than they say Harry kicked ron out because in The Deathly Hallows putting them all in danger. Ron insulted Harry's parents deaths in that scene. And it was his choice to leave.
@@rhyswallace3590In the books Ron never actually straight-up mocked him for being an orphan, Harry: "Did you think you'd be back with your mummy by Christmas?" Ron: "I care about my family, I don't want them to die! (or something like that) But you don't have to worry about that!" insensitive, but not mocking Harry for being an orphan, but I guess the take only uses pieces from the movies as evidence so it makes sense you are too.
@@rhyswallace3590 Ron never said anything about his parents in the books. He was dismissive of Ron's feelings as much as Ron was about his. At any point in time he could have tried to talk to Ron but his pride and anger at him got in the way. This isn't anything but normal friends crap so this makes no sense in this video but he definitely was dismissive of him.
He did snap at his friends. A lot actually. Almost all of it was in the Order of the Phoenix. He went off on Ron and Hermione when he got to Sirius'house. He snapped on them up until he wrote the piece in the Quibbler. Ron and Hermione kept telling him to stop snapping at them as they are on his side. Book Harry and movie Harry are two different Harry's. He is all of the things they say he is (except proud of being the chosen one) just in short periods of time. He literally spent the first half (which was months) of the Deathly Hollows feeling betrayed by Dumbledore because a grown ass man didn't want to share his life with him. It's annoying and childish. Doesn't change how much I love these books but my god why does he think he deserves to know personal shit that others didn't want him to know? It's clear that the idiots who made the video have never actually read the books, which is way more important than never seeing the movies as the movies add and take so much away, but they were right about some stuff, just had the wrong reasons why and didn't back up their claims properly.
Honestly, I love how Dumbledore made those mistakes. It really shows that despite being the powerful wizard around and everyone being afraid of him, he's a human too, and he makes mistakes. If Rowling made all of Dumbledore's decisions correct, it would seem very unreal
Yeah, I love how all of the characters in Harry Potter are actually realistic. I hate when authors make it seem like if you're powerful, it's impossible to make mistakes, even tho it's not. Even if Dumbledore is powerful, he's also human and makes mistakes and I love that about Harry Potter characters.
Also, Dumbledore can say "Yeah, it's my fault Sirius is dead, because you would NEVER have gone to the Department of Mysteries if you knew Voldemort wanted you to do that", but Harry has shown time and again that he isn't afraid to rush into danger. Case and point; charging into a field to chase Bellatrix Lestrange despite knowing damn well it was totally a trap. And why didn't Voldemort just apparate right there? You mean no Death Eater thought to touch their mark to summon him, as a signal that "Hey, Harry is here in the middle of a field, some good old fashioned fire magic will incinerate him completely. His main spell of "Expeliarmus" isn't going to do shit against that, plus you have wandless magic too Voldy. Get over here." I love the series, but that "Dumbledore Mistake" is total bs. Every single book has Harry charging off into danger with no one asking him to do so except in Book 3 with Buckbeak and Sirius subtly being suggested by Dumbledore.
@@feralphantom94 Ok for starters, that scene you're talking about was exclusive to the film. It never happened in the book so Harry's actions in that scene came from the screenwriter. I was always confused as to why they decided to add that in. And while it is true that Harry isn't afraid to rush into danger, he doesn't do it just for the hell of it. Every time it's because someone's in danger or he knows that something bad will happen if he doesn't at least try to intervene. For example the Philosopher's Stone - He tried talking to Professor Mcgonagall but she believed the stone was too well protected and ignored him. He couldn't expect any of the other teachers to believe him if she didn't so he, Ron and Hermione decided to go down to protect the stone themselves. Also the Chamber of Secrets - He and Ron went to Lockart initially to give him what information they had as they believed he would be going down to rescue Ginny, they hadn't been planning to go down there themselves. When they realized Lockart was going to run they dragged him down to the chamber to help rescue her but then Lockart's backfiring spell caused a cave in which not only made him lose his memory but also caused Harry to be trapped, alone, on one side of a wall of rocks with the only way forward being to go into the chamber.
@@feralphantom94 Except Dumbledore is right. The ONLY reason Harry rushed off to the Department of Mysteries is because he believed Sirius Black was in mortal danger. If Dumbledore had actually told Harry everything from the beginning, Harry wouldn't have had a reason to run off because he would have known that Sirius was fine and Voldemort was just baiting him. You ARE right that Harry isn't afraid to rush into danger, but that's what makes him the hero. It's because he will do whatever it takes to protect those he cares about; even if it means sacrificing his own life. It's because he values everyone else's lives above his own. There's actually a great quote from Team Starkid's "A Very Potter Senior Year" that sums up Harry Potter perfectly. It's Ron Weasley dressing down the other students after they ran Harry out of Hogwarts, "You guys wanna know why Harry always saves the school? Cause he doesn't wait for someone else to do it." Also, your "Harry running after Bellatrix after she burned down The Burrow" argument just shows that you don't actually understand the characters and the world at all. First off, none of the Death Eaters, Bellatrix included, would dare attempt to kill Harry Potter. Lord Voldemort has said, time and again, that Harry Potter is his and his alone. If they even tried to kill Harry, Voldemort would Avada Kedavra them without blinking. And Death Eaters are, if nothing else, afraid of Lord Voldemort above all else. Secondly, Voldemort wouldn't have been stupid enough to try to fight Harry. He knows he can't win. And you would know it too if you actually paid attention. The Twin Cores protects Harry, as shown in Goblet of Fire, and Voldemort knows it. That's the reason he takes Lucius' Wand from him and is so desperate to find The Elder Wand. He even says, in the movies, that he can't use his own wand against Harry because of the Twin Cores. As long as Harry had his original wand, Voldemort couldn't touch him and Voldemort knew it.
I'm not even a Potterhead but honestly the way they blame Harry for his impulses makes no sense to me. Everyone has dark impulses or subconscious desires sometimes especially when you're constantly put in life or death situations surrounded by abusers.
That "The Take" channel has rapidly gone downhill over the past year or two. It seems to coincide with that channel changing their name. But do you think he would've succeeded in his life's mission if he didn't have Ron and Hermione? No freakin way! All three characters were crucial and each brought their own talents and charms. Why can't we just leave it at that? As a female, I NEVER have a problem with seeing a male hero in a movie or TV show. I actually love it.
Okay, one, Snape didn't even try to properly teach Harry, just went straight into it telling him to basically "cope", two, Snape also told Harry to defend himself, so when Harry did protego literally that was him doing what Snape said, and Snape STILL got mad at Harry, so that was on Snape.
i thought Snape was kinda impressed with protego? like not happy but not angry by any means. in the films he's furious but in the book his memories are in the pensieve so it doesn't matter to him
I used to really like "The Take." They've actually done some really great HP topics, including one on Hufflepuffs that I still re-watch. But the past few months I've found them getting increasingly ridiculous in their "takes." It's like they sit around now and actively wonder what's the *worst* take they can come up with, and then pursue it without more thought. It's frustrating to see a channel with such a strong female presence - which is really needed - descend into nonsense. Thanks for this rebuttal, it was very, very good.
I agree. I think they've made some good videos - but they are making too many nowadays and their hooks are getting more extreme. Perhaps they are desperate to increase their viewership, but I stopped watching them a while ago because of these changes.
Agreed. For instance, they were so desperate to praise Bridgerton with its forced diversity that they brushed off the rape scene as "problematic sexual dynamics". And that is a feminist channel! When they revealed that the "villain" is a jealous, fat girl, I thought that they would complain that it's bad representation, but they found it perfectly logical. They were so busy defending and praising the show that they just brushed off issues they would complain about in other circumstances.
I agree. I used to really like their videos. Some made me look at the work in an entirely new way but they’ve just become really biased and ridiculous.

What makes Harry Potter a perfect protagonist is because he’s flawed, and people (who are not a true Potterhead) forget that he was just a kid and kids can’t be suddenly all adult and mature just for the sake of the plot.. Every kid wants to be ‘the kid’, naturally at times he tends to enjoy his fame.. But what makes Harry great is his heart.. He always stands up for his friends, his family, he readily stood up to give up his own life to Voldemort to save others.. He knows he needs Hermione and Ron but he always will choose their safety first.. Best example of Harry being a mature person at the end comes when he gives up on the Elder Wand, the power of the Deathly Hallows because he already had everything he would need: friends and family..

They just randomly mentioned Hermione at the end. Like they realised they had no conclusion so just started a new argument.
Hermione is the HERO But not the main character Cz hermione story isnt special as harry we are talking about the boy who lived And Hermione is intelligent which makes the story weird cz the main hero should be amazed by a new world honest kind brave Hermione just was a supporting actor

There are 3 things I can tell about The Take lady just from her points: 1. She hasn't read the books or at the very least read them once and has forgotten it all for the movie versions. 2. She doesn't like men. (Her claims of harry being the "typical male" and saying Herminone is the true protagonist without actually having a valid argument for either claim make that clear). 3. Her video was either made for massive clickbait or she was told to make a video with that title and had to find "evidence" to back it up

When these movies just came out my parents didn't want me to watch them. They thought that the movies were dark and evil, that magic is anti-christian, etc. I've always been of a mind to be a part of the world I live in, regardless of preconceived notions... and after watching the first four movies I remember a conversation with my parents: "It's not about the magic, though. It's about friendship."
10:10 you watched a peer die in front of you, watched your mortal enemy come back to life, fought him only to have the government and a lot of your peers gaslight you by telling you that you're a liar and an attention seeker. Who wouldn't be angstier than your typical teenager?
An anti-hero can still save the world, it's more of a difference on how to achieve a goal, they are more on the gray/dark spectrum. But at the end Harry is a bona fide hero, just because Harry is a human being who is flawed like everybody else and sometimes doesn't act like a hero should doesn't mean that he is an anti-hero, heck, a lot of HP was exactly people being upset about Harry not meeting their expectations in a certain way.
Adding to the point about Colin’s photo, when he shows it to Harry later, Harry is pleased to see his photographic self making every effort to _not_ be in the picture, eventually managing to make his escape from photo!Lockhart and walk out
"He breaks the rules and gets away with that" Yeah, like that one time in the beginning of order of the phoenix when he did magic infron of Dudley and lied and it was to defend himself and Dudley against dementors and everyone in the ministry belived him... wait
I have to wonder if the original video was meant as a joke. I don’t think anyone could get this so wrong accidentally. Unfortunately, the internet in the last few years has removed humor from everything and it is far too easy to see nefarious intent in things we don’t like. Great review movie flame!!!
Considering they deleted it after I made this I don’t think it was meant to be humorous. More click bait than anything else to get themselves more views for the wrong reasons
I’m sorry but to call Harry Potter a villain or anti-hero to a HARRY POTTER FAN is like throwing a knife in their heart. HARRY JAMES POTTER goes as one of the greatest fictional heroes of all Literature. He endured more than the average person in a lifetime just within the first part of his life. To me that video gives me the impression they didn’t even read the books. Hell I didn’t read the books until last year, I grew up watching the movies and it is clear as either way you know Harry Potter that he is a hero. The fact that he was willing to die many times for others shows how he is a hero. I know that there are many definitions of a hero but to me a hero is someone he is willing to do the greater good for others and give hope to them. I’m sorry but I feel offended to almost bash a significant part my childhood. Harry Potter forever will be a hero, that channel can go somewhere
I'm a huge fan of the book "Order of the Phoenix." It's not Harry at his most likable, but it's Harry at his most understandable (based on my own experiences as a 15 year old in boarding school).
exactly! Harry is so well written and OOTP really shows him at his most relatable teen self because his anger and frustrations are exactly how any teenager would feel in his situation
@@johnsantspree1120 besides if these characters start out as being perfect and fulfilled, there be no reason to follow their story, they be boring protagonists.
@@sophieh.4097 Same. I see the end of the Goblet of Fire as the transition from the fun magical world to the dangerous world that the 14 years of letting their guard down throws them completely off guard. Order of the Phoenix does the best job with his character. Its when the hero is at their lowest point that really proves how strong they are, and this was that. The whole world is against him, he's being tormented at night, and anger keeps building in him, partly due to rage at the outside world, and partly because Voldemort's signs are showing in him with the connection of their minds. The book also did the best job of showcasing emotional development for Harry specifically. Yes, I would agree that the Half Blood Prince does this best for everyone else, but for Harry, this is where he grows up. The whole book things get worse and worse, as he tries to uncover what on earth is going on that nobody will tell him as Voldemort torments him, Umbridge and Fudge make his life insufferable, and the only way he can stay standing is by teaching his friends and students in secret. He's terrible at relationships, and the Order wants to use him but make not involve him. They say they care about him but its only really one way. Its fear and attachment, not love. Sirius is the only one who actually is open with him and he's Harry is the best way, but ultimately, he meets his fate, partly because of Harry, but mostly because of Dumbledore. Its the fatal flaw in Dumbledore, despite everything he emphasizes about love, he doesnt understand what love truly is. And in the end, he realizes that his relationship with Harry was possession based in fear, not love, which wouldve been to let Harry know the danger he was in and prepare him for it. They had every opportunity to help Harry but didnt because they were afraid of him or more specifically his connection with Voldemort. In the end, everything Harry was searching for, trying to find an answer, if not about Voldemort, than about himself, was known by the Order the entire time. After Sirius's death he's near suicidal, and the scene in Dumbledore's office is his breaking point.
I mean Harry did almost die last year and watched one of his friends die, also compiled with all the abuse he faced with the Dursleys, I thought he wasn't angry enough, but showing him as someone who kinda just snapped, as a character it makes him so much real.
Besides that being unfair. Literally EVERYONE has some prejedcut to Slythrens. They got a bad reputionation to them. So naturally people are going to be weary of them. Since its even said in the first book "There not a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slythern." They simply have given the world a mindset they are all born evil. So its hard to overcome a bad rep when you've done a good job showing why you have it. That's why Slughorn is so imporant. To show that Slytren aren't all bad.
@@Kelseyalicia Harry is incredibly prejudiced against Slytherins. He didn't give it a thought that the heir of Slytherin could be a Gryffindor, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. (According to The Take, anyway)
Everyone has flaws - even if Harry makes mistakes and succumbs to anger and vengeance and can be a bit of an arse at times, he ultimately acts out of love for his friends. I think Rowling created a very balanced character in Harry. If she'd made him perfect, he would have been insufferable.
Voldemort: a cold blooded murderer since childhood, literally is never in a scene without killing or attempting to kill someone. Harry: Takes Neville's lolipop while invisible The Take: These two are literally the exact same person
It's not just this video, The Take is generally pretty sloppy. And they have a clear bias toward any male main character. When you mentioned the part where they wanted to make Hermione the main character instead I was like, ahhhh, there it is.
Claiming Harry is a bad person because he is just a typical male, it literally triggers me.I have suffered with; 1: Depression. 2: Anxiety. 3: Panic Attacks. 4: Autism. (Which Is More Common In Males) 5: Suicide Attempts. And The Cherry On Top; All, and I do mean ALL, Men Are Told To Bottle Their Emotions Even Today. It's not an easy life being male. :( Edit: Sorry if this came across as rantings.
4:57 also in Goblet of Fire he said "Fine, if Ron wants to be famous so he's just jealous and avoids me, we can change places, I hate being famous" sort of way to Hermione
All the characters: thanks for saving Ginny Harry! She would have died otherwise! The Take: is no one going to tell him off for going into the girls bathroom? :(
Snape knows who petunia is and the hate she had for Lilly, he thinks they treated harry like dudly. Snape became his father, a bully. (At least I think that's how his father was).
Exactly. I used to like their videos but they seem to like hate men or some weird propaganda...They made positive videos about those scammer women calling them heros.
The whole belatrix point makes no sense in my mind, SHE KILLED THE CLOSEST THING TO A FATHER THAT HARRY EVER GOT, he had a right to be pissed, also I want to add that the comment about Harry being a typical male was very sexist and now I’m mad Edit: the take’s video looks like it’s made by a 2 year old

@@conserztasfia0078 exactly and even when he was tempted he couldn't get himself to actually harm her (you know the woman who just killed his only remaining family) if that doesn't show his good nature idk what does
You forgot to mention how Harry rejected the Elder Wand. He had the most powerful wand in existence in his hand, and he chose to give it up. That to me is the most heroic thing Harry ever did. An even slightly less than pure hero would've been corrupted by that kind of power.
Man, this was an amazing video! Harry is my all time favorite character from the series and that's saying a lot since there are so many of them! It bugs me so much when people call him annoying or selfish. He's brave and is unafraid to step in and do the right thing even before others have the chance. It always makes me so happy to see someone sharing the kind of person and character he actually is when it seems like there are so many against him. Great video!
Ha !!!, The lady from the take, make Rita look like a saint.😂😂😂😂 Edit:HOLY COW !!!!,24 LIKE on that comment alone, Potter heads really don't like people talking trash about the books that much😂😂😂😁
When you make Rita Skeeter look like a real journalist when the only actual piece of journalism she ever wrote was a piece on George being at the 2014 World Cup with his family
I can come up with ONE negative thing about Harry's personality; he's reckless/impulsive and naive. This however, is what makes him a believable character, because EVERYONE has flaws. And it's not like most people tend to carefully think things through while under pressure now, is it?
About Harry not wanting to put anyone in danger in Book 7 when the Trio was trying to get ready for the Horxcux Hunt, didn't Hermione say something like this "you asked us to turn back a long time ago, we're with you for good"? It's in book 6 actually when Harry's saying he's not returning to Hogwarts the following year. Ah.. found the line I was looking for: "You said to us once before,” said Hermione quietly, “that there was time to turn back if we wanted to. We've had time, haven't we?"
It’s like they forgot he was a kid, an abused kid, a traumatized child that is set up to die and if he doesn’t, all his living loves ones die. He wanted to be a normal kid, literally was his deepest and truest desire, to get a family that love him. He was 17 in the final novel, a child solider, and a victim of war. He didn’t know his name till he went to school and the teachers realized he thought his name was “Boy” cause that’s all his aunt and uncle called him. He lived under the stairs. Till he was 11. He was depressed and got some forms of ptsd as the story went on and he witnessed more and more horrific things. And we do not support Snape. Snape is literally a child’s boggart, a child who lost his parents to insanity through torture and is belittled by his grandmother for not being like his father and constantly a subject of bullying by classmates. Yet Snape, a PROFESSOR, is his biggest fear. And Snape in the novels looked into Harry’s memories, not just what was in the movie, but part of Harry’s abusive childhood and than went on to ignore it but rather be mad at Harry for accidentally looking into Snape’s mind as he used a defensive spell because he didn’t want Snape seeing his childhood. And Dumbledore’s “greater good” thing literally led to Sirius’s death, aka the last of his guardians/parental figures. I love The Take but they were so embarrassingly wrong here it’s as if they didn’t actually watch or read the story.
They would've remembered it if Harry was a girl, I promise. Watch any other video on their channel. All they talk about is how EVERY single male character is bad and how women are impeccable unicorns🙄😂😂 They don't understand character development, arcs and the fact that every person has some flaws
@@clairem391 Yeah, the whole "boy" thing is fanon. The Dursleys do say the name "Harry" occasionally. (That is not defending them in any way. They're still awful, awful, people.)
The take is normally good but that video was terribly missguided almost like they wanted to make a big twist by saying he is a bad guy. Yes, Harry has flaws but he is nothing like how they portrayed him. Thank you so much for reacting to their video, we all needed this! ❤
Yo!! I can not believe The Take went there... i unsubscribed from them long ago cause a lot of stuff they did was straight up a reach from their own wrapped up bias ideas.
They were pushing a woke perspective, they were going for Harry is bad because he's a man and Hermione is good because she's a woman. I picked up on it when they said the line "men more generally". The mental gymnastics they went through were insane.
"The take" used to be called "screenprism". And it used to be a critical analisis on characters archetypes and storylines. For example, their Mad Men videos are spot on. But ever since they changed the channel, their focus lies on trying to be edgy and go against the current, trying to villainize main characters by picking and choosing what fact is convenient.
Yeah I used to watch all their archetypes videos but somewhere along the line they started to project their personal political/ideological biases or as I like to call it, modern Tumblr talking points/hot takes. I think this slowly started to show after their How I Met Your Mother videos were finished. The videos after those had hints of this and after a certain point I can't precisely zero in they went full politico/idiological.
Yeah, that's been my experience with them too. I use to look forward to watching their videos because I found them from their critical analysis videos but then it appeared they went downhill. Clearly I'm not their preferred audience since they continue to make the videos. Oh well! To each their own.
I like how he actually gets facts and evidence from the books and not just the movies and he does a lot of research on it! Good job with actually doing the hard work!! That’s why I like his videos so much not only because of that but his videos are just naturally entertaining! His facts about Harry Potter are so interesting!
If you were by a lake and a sign said “Do not swim,” but there was a person drowning in that lake, what would you do? Follow the rules? Or save their lives? (And yes, I am in challenge and learning to write persuasive essays lol)
Ok, well, I was mostly just copying Andy Griffith lol, and if they're way far out in the lake, you may need to swim a bit out, especially if they're DROWNING.
Seems like "The Take" doesn't respect their audience with this fanfic they tried to pass off as canon, or their trolls, either way they get a "T" for their O.W.L.
Harry potter is literally a teenager whose parent's were murdered into from him, protecting him and he mysteriously he was the first person to the survivor the killing curse and he was abused by petunia and Vernon dursley and getting bullied by his cousin constantly also getting bullied and left aside by classmates so many times and he still was really kind, tried to help as much people as possible even risking his life and well-being and was ready to face death to protect everyone else not caring about himself.he is a very good hero and Very selfless. Also let's not forget that HE IS A TEENAGER he makes mistakes and it's normal.also harry did got punished for the the things he did in hogwarts and the only time when he hurt someone is in the sixth book, the half-blood Prince when he used sectonsempra(if that's how you write,i mean Snape's spell.)on draco malfoy but in the book draco was about to use crucio on him,a forbidden/illegal curse and TORTURE HIM, Harry just acted impulsively while trying to protect himself in a moment of panic.also yes tom riddle and harry potter are two sides of a coin's but because harry has a piece of tom riddle soul otherwise they are completely different,tom/Voldemort is a complete psychopath and was born under a love potion & couldn't feel emotions and harry potter was just a victim to a war AS BABY/KID.

@@madapigi1 That's kinda... prejudiced. There are many people in the fandom who are sorted Slytherins and they are so sweet. Yeah, JK hated Slytherins and that's why they are hated by many. He just accepted his fate. It turned out alright, but still. It shows that Harry Potter is a hero in the truest sense of the word.
Harry Potter is not arrogant! He is loyal and one of the only people to step up and fight the ministry. He does it because he is a good person and wants to be normal. He never wanted to have his parents killed. He never wanted attention, he just wanted to be a normal wizard
Agreed. Yet Snape and everyone else treats him as some celebrity or a miniature James. All they see is the hair and the glasses, but not the eyes. He has his mother’s eyes. This is specifically why I hate Snape. He sees Harry as James, but Harry is not James. He’s not arrogant, he’s not mean, he dislikes slytherins because generally they are bullies, and Snape doesn’t bother to look because he sees James getting what he felt James deserved. But that’s not James, that’s his son, Harry. Snape only sees the hair and the glasses, so he assumes Harry is a miniature James, but Snape never sees the eyes because of his hate.

I feel like they wanted to downplay these two characters (specially Ron) so Hermione could be a role model. What made this trio of friends work for me is that they balanced eachother, Hermione was meticulus in her planing, Harry was spontaniuous and Ron was loyal.

imagine saving your friends' lives multiple times, at your own peril, and having them say to you "you treat me badly". like damn, I would literally die for you, how much more do you want??

To say that Harry is anything less than than a hero that was entitled is stupid, I mean the kid had no moral guidance but it shows that in the 10 years of living with the Dursleys he managed to have qualities about him though the influence he got was no way near to being kind or fair that video he counter argued has made me so mad, sorry for ranting things you probably already know 😂😂
True
Exactly!
Harry: Is a teenager who has flaws like every person that exists
The Take: He’s a villain
Actually he has much fewer flaws, and probably entirely unrealistic, for example really no twelve year old would defeate a basilisk
I wonder how the writer for that video would look if we viewed her life with a magnifying glass? Not good is my guess…
and he literally has VERY LESS flaws given how much trauma he has like that could never be me. i would actually be evil if i were in his place
Get over here."
I love the series, but that "Dumbledore Mistake" is total bs.
Exactly
Cause he doesn't wait for someone else to do it."
Also, your "Harry running after Bellatrix after she burned down The Burrow" argument just shows that you don't actually understand the characters and the world at all.

Oh yeah, and let's not forget Hermione didn't do anything either, yet they propped her up at the end. And let's not forget it was HER idea to lure Umbitch out there in the first place, which the Take DID conveniently forget.
I agree everything you said except the part about being a true potterhead. You can be one while interpreting the story differently, even if that interpretation is wrong.
Harry is a hero him being a kid has nothing to do with anything.
People put to much on these labels.
@@rodan9773 Harry is a hero, no potterhead ever questions that.. You don’t wanna label him, it’s good.. But some do, so those some need to understand why he is the way he is and what makes him so likeable as the main protagonist..

There are 3 things I can tell about The Take lady just from her points:
1. She hasn't read the books or at the very least read them once and has forgotten it all for the movie versions.

I'm a huge fan of the book "Order of the Phoenix." It's not Harry at his most likable, but it's Harry at his most understandable (based on my own experiences as a 15 year old in boarding school).
I agree, character flaws are SO much more interesting than people give them credit for.
"He's prejudiced against Slytherins." Gee, I wonder who tormented him for years.
Besides that being unfair. Literally EVERYONE has some prejedcut to Slythrens. They got a bad reputionation to them. So naturally people are going to be weary of them. Since its even said in the first book "There not a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slythern."
They simply have given the world a mindset they are all born evil. So its hard to overcome a bad rep when you've done a good job showing why you have it.

Ah.. found the line I was looking for:
"You said to us once before,” said Hermione quietly, “that there was time to turn back if we wanted to.

I feel like they wanted to downplay these two characters (specially Ron) so Hermione could be a role model. What made this trio of friends work for me is that they balanced eachother, Hermione was meticulus in her planing, Harry was spontaniuous and Ron was loyal.
@@Hi-jf2nj Sorry, ron is my fav character and I hate ron bashers
@@bonjour570 it’s okey :)
They could have taken anyone but why harry,
Harry was the most humblest and kindest out of all. He always risked his life for others.
I think the next video these guys are gonna make is "how umbridge is the best character", lol
Or how Voldemort was the real "tragic hero" of the story all along.
I mean she really is the best character acting-wise. But of course you meant her behavior. So yeah you are right.
"Umbridge punished students because they were troublesome and she was right all along" sike she's voldemorts sugar momma
