I love how Morgan bases his videos on the books and not the movies. So many RUclipsrs use the movies. This spreads a message on how definitive the books really are.
Some additional facts: 1. The Crouch family also had a house elf, Winky 2. Dudley and Harry had one final conversation before the Dursleys left Privet Drive and the two shook hands 3. Narcissa and Bellatrix actually had a third sister, Andromeda, who is also the mother of Nymphadora Tonks 4. Draco had a somewhat friendship with Moaning Myrtle during the sixth year
@@aliahmedbanoo69420 you’re right, but it was so subtle that I’m sure if you ask any fan who casually watched the movies who is Andromeda, they most likely wouldn’t be able to answer
Percy also wrote a very long letter to Ron in the 5th book advising him to disown Harry. His justification was that Harry was loosing his mind and for Ron’s best interest he should leave him. Ron got redder and redder from anger as he read this letter and ended up ripping it to pieces and throwing it in the fire place. Hermione was watching this happen with an “odd expression on her face,” as the book mentioned. This act of loyalty towards Harry softened Hermione’s heart and she offered to help Ron with his essay. These aren’t huge plot relavent points but my favourite thing about reading HP is the trios dynamic and I wanted to share this little moment :)
It wouldn't surprise me that Hermione would have a positive reaction to Ron there. It actually explains one of my favorite Ron moments that was cut from the films: Offering to protect Hermione from the Muggle Born Registration Committee by claiming she's a distant Weasley cousin and offering to teach her the family tree in Deathly Hallows.
It was more so that Harry wanted to "take a break" because of 1, him being away looking for the horcruxes and 2, if his love for her was out there for everyone to know, the death eaters would use her to bait him out, putting her in harms way for the simple reason that they were together... all of which boss-bitch book Ginny would have none of xD
Still didn’t finish the vid obviously, but the first thing that came to mind is Ginny actually got a personality and her relationship with Harry actually works
@@jaydas8976me too I love the way Bonnie portrays Ginny (and obviously the writers didn’t give her much to work with)but I think the problem was the chemistry, not the acting
My favorite part that the movies left out is probably the whole Regulus Black story. He's only a small part of the book, but he's one of the most heroic and unsung characters
I just left a comment about him as well! Before I even read this comment. He’s one of my favorite characters and his story is one of the best written ones imo.
Yeah I’d also have to mention Creature along with that, and just house Elves in general. The fact that they have old, strong Magic. But because Voldemort didn’t see them as a threat in the slightest, their Magic was effective against his Horcrux’s and within barriers he set. Still want to know how Regulus found Cave though. That’s not really explained all too well. Also, why wouldn’t Regulus send Creature to give the Horcrux and the information to Dumbledore? It’s not like he’s an unheard of Wizard. He’s potentially more Famous than every single Wizard, barring maybe Merlin in the HO world. Surly that would’ve been a far better last command to give Creature? Have the lover stolen then and then bring that into play imo.
The Regulus Black story was told in the Deathly Hallows book chapter, "Kreecher's Tale". I agree that Regulus is a heroic character. I wish the "Fantastic Beasts" prequels had shown him as a student at Hogwarts while Dumbledore et al were there.
Plus, he's important to the plot; why Harry's and Dumbledore's mission through the cave was an utterly, wasted failure! He sacrificed himself so Kreacher could take the locket-horcrux and try to destroy it!
Yeah, I always hated that part in the Goblet of Fire movie where it looked like Dumbledore was about to strangle Harry by the way he grabbed him. I know it couldn't be helped because of Richard Harris passing away before Prisoner of Azkaban, but I never really liked Michael Gambon's version of Dumbledore. Richard Harris portrayed him a lot better.
@@ChibaMitsurugi19792It’s not that big of a deal imo. If anything I think the books portrayed Dumbledore kinda stupidly at times. The way he just shrugs off Harry being forced to compete in the Triwizard tournament, doesn’t bother trying to help or protect him in any way, allows the Chamber of Secrets to be opened with no further investigation, and in Sorcerer’s Stone, told Snape to “keep an eye on Quirrell” yet was unable to stop Quirrell from getting to Harry. The later books show Dumbledore is this mega-powerful awesome overlord wizard who knows all, but that makes you wonder why 11-14 year old Harry, Ron, and Hermione ended up in so many dangerous situations. Is Book Dumbledore just careless? Doesn’t care what happens to the trio?
@SJ-di5zu in book one, no one was ever really in danger except for the troll in the girls' bathroom because Dumbledore knew Quirrell couldn't get the stone from the mirror or even touch Harry. In book two I agree the investigations are ridiculous, he should have known it was a basilisk a lot sooner and sent the kids home. In book three he did everything necessary to stop sirius, they went out of their way to get into trouble
What's ironic about your comment is that when the trio is trying to find a place to meet for D.A., Ron says a line in the movie "So, say you needed a toilet..." to which Hermione replies "Gross, Ronald, but yes, that's the idea."
What's even more depressing about Percy disowning his family, is that he only understands the errors of his ways right before Fred is killed in front of him. Such a heartbreaking moment
Fred may have died IN PART becaause of Percy. Perce made a joke during the battle, and Fred was all over it. "Percy, you made a joke! It's been years since I heard you make a joke!" And right about then, he (Fred) got hit full-force by a curse.
@@i.marchand4655He wasnt directly hit by a curse. The wall behind Fred exploded from a fight behind it. Everyone there was caught off guard. Fred was just closest to the blast.
@@i.marchand4655 Whila I disagree that it was Percy's fault, he probably did blame himself. I'd give everything to see that scene in the movie. Fred dying and Percy's fury at Rookwood would've been amazing
Just to name a few - The maze task in The Goblet of Fire had several incredibly dangerous creatures - The two-way mirror - Signs of "weird figures" when Vernon commutes to work - Apparition exams
Yeah, I wondered why the Apparating lessons weren't shown in the 6th movie but were described in the "Half-Blood Prince". I agree w/item #1, that the maze task had "incredibly dangerous creatures," especially the ones who weren't in the movie but were in the book: the Sphinx and the Spider.
@@shepwillner7507 Also the candy toffees the twin Weasley's gotDudley to eat. Actually the whole scene where they hooked up the fireplace to the network
the apparition also confirmed how strict they are about getting a job or doing something that could be dangerous because Ron left half an eyebrow, which would probably not happen if Ron tried again.
As a book reader, the fate of Peter Pettigrew legitimately pissed me off when I watched The Deathly Hollows Part 1 in cinemas. Instead of having a powerful character moment where everything goes full circle in a horrifying and kinda tragic way, all we get is ... "Ow". What were they thinking?
Harry also asked the twins to use some of the shop money to buy new dress robes for Ron because he wouldn't accept the gift from Harry. Because Ron didn't want charity or anything else from Harry other than his love and friendship. And Harry just wanted to show he cared. Always loved that moment, it was so sweet.
Other things you left out: Part 2 -Harry Beat Voldemort in front of everyone -Augusta Longbottom chose Neville’s wand - Harry uses Polyjuice potions a lot more often -Dumbledore saves Umbridge from the centaurs -Draco had Crabbe & Goyle use Polyjuice potions for disguises -Snape tried to kill Trevor the toad -Umbridge made Filch maim Hedwig - Voldemort‘s Backstory -Crabbe tried to kill the trio - Harry Didn’t Break The Elder Wand - Bellatrix is first seen in The Goblet of Fire - Harry sees the letter that Snape tore apart -Harry got multiple detentions in the Half Blood Prince -Filch was exposed as a squib
Some of these are important omissions, but other ones I really couldn’t care less about. Like “Dumbledore had madame Maxine join Hagrid” uh okay, but that plotline was extremely boring and part of the most bloated book in the series that was nearly 900 pages. Cuts needed to be made. Edit: also the Crabbe one was totally justifiable because the actor was deadass not there to film
@@mariederrybutler2088 Harry was surprised when Hedwig showed up at the Gryffindor Common Room window with her feathers badly damaged, because "someone" (Umbridge or possibly Filch on Umbridge's orders) tried to steal Harry's mail. This was the first indication that Umbridge was trying to monitor Harry's communications outside the school. His owl being a snowy owl, which isn't native to Britain, makes her too recognizable to use for communication with a wanted criminal (which Sirius told Harry).
werent the entiry plotline with the gaunts cut from the movies? I suppose people who just watched the movies dont know who they are at all and a lot of Voldemorts backstory was cut.. like in other comments dais.. book 6 was pretty butchered.
I didn’t know about the amazing relationship between Remus and Tonks until I read the books and thank god I did. It saddens me how much of them was cut out of the movies 😭
@@LuvSlushie ultimately, only the first two books included the main plotlines in their entirety. Already in the third movie they cut out the Marauders, which of course is the underlying plot of Peter's betrayal. From there, it only got worse. What earned my wrath though is that they omitted the series' core message: nothing is set in stone by fate, only our choices matter.
Their poor movie relationship. They never mention them getting together. Then in the last two movies, she mentions "my husband, the joker" like when did that happen ? And then there is absolutely nothing about the pregnancy, just all the way at the end of part 2 Harry says, "and Remus, your son..". I feel like movie only fans were so confused about that.
Here's on fact in the Order of the Phoenix book, Harry doesn't learn of the prophecy until Dumbledore tells him in his office. In the movie, Harry hears the prophecy when he picks it up in Prophecy Hall. Great video as always
One of my biggest movie peeves is when in year 3 when Snape subs for Lupin's class and calls Hermione an "insufferable know-it-all" AND RON SAYS "he's got a point"??!??? No! He defends her and gets detention for it. I will never understand why they changed this because it wouldn't even add runtime or anything. It's not like they have to show him doing the detention
@@ChelseaChfy-ex1poi always hated that because he took away what makes hermione different than those perfect characters, and he made kinds toxic also giving all of his amazing lines to hermione
When they saw Lockhart in the hospital, they also so Neville visiting his parents. I forgot if they mentioned this in the movie, but Beatrix was the one who put them there. She used the torture curse on them until they went insane.
It is mentioned in the movies, in The Order of the Phoenix. When in the Department of Mysteries, Belatrix taunts Neville by asking how are his parents. He replies that they will be better once he avenges them by killing her. (He doesn’t actually kill her in the ensuing battle.)
@@CrochetIsLife54 there's also scene in the room of requirement where neville is talking to harry about his parents looking at the picture of order of the phoenix members
A bit more subjective but the whole idea of the Prophecy is different in the books. In the movies it is taken as a serious "The Chosen One" story. But in the books, Dumbledore points out that it's not fate or destiny, Harry isn't special because he is "the Chosen One". Harry is just a brave, just and noble person that would never let someone put his friends in danger. He is the kind of man to stand against Voldemort regardless and he is only in his position with Voldemort because Voldemort does believe in magic prophecy and fate.
We definitely need a part 2!! Barty Crouch Sr. got his son out of Azkaban. Madame Rosmerta was imperiused through most of the Half-Blood Prince. Kreacher also worked at Hogwarts, and had to do as Harry commanded because Sirius had left everything, including the house, to Harry in his will. I could go on and on. 🤣 Great idea, Morgan! Oh, how could I forget? Everything from the World Cup! Leprechaun gold, Veela's true nature, Ireland winning because Krum caught the Snitch when Bulgaria was WAY down!
@@robertwolfganbecause catching the snitch doesn’t mean you win it just gives your team an extra 150 points. The first movie made it sound like you automatically win when Wood was teaching Harry.
@@robertwolfgan Because Catching the snitch only gives you an extra 150 points and when he caught it, Ireland was leading by 160 points meaning they were still 10 points ahead. Krum knew that the Irish chasers was too good so he(Krum) just caught it to make it less embarrasing than it would have been
Would also love a part 2. Rufus Scrimgeor trying to recruit Harry, the memories we missed in HBP, the other minister scene, dumbledores funeral, the extension of Snapes worst memory, crabb and goyle in Pollyjuice potion. Honestly ok leaving out some of the worst snape parts, he was more likeable/redeemable in the movies.
I think Crookshanka deserves a shout out. She was the one who tried to help Sirius get Wormtail. She deserves a mention but movies missed it out. Also Winky getting caught with Harry's wand in Goblet of fire and her dismissal and coming to work at Hogwarts was missed too (in fact they omitted her character all together) And finally Bart Crough Sr's rescue of his son and hia love and loyalty to wife, really deserves to be mentioned
There's a theory that Crookshanks is actually the Potter family's cat. He's old enough. It's stated that James and Lily had one, and that Harry almost killed it when he was one. We also have an official image of the cat, and he looks like Crookshanks. It would explain why he was helping Sirius with Peter, because Crookshanks already knew them. Kneazles are very intelligent. It was on sight for Crookshanks and Scabbers, and I think that's because Crookshanks recognized Peter's animagus form that was supposed to be dead.
Agreed about Crookshanks the big cat owned by Hermione. I liked him better than Mrs. Norris. I got the feeling that Mrs. Norris was actually a human in cat form, an animagus.
Harry interacting with members of the Orders of the Pheonix at Grimmauld Place while helping cleaning the house was also skipped. They managed to fit in the photo of the original order and Black Family tree though. Also, Percy's betrayal and letter to Ron plus various other rules imposed by Umbridge. Like the ability to overrule other teachers' authority to stop Griffindor from competing in Quiditch.
There's also the fact that McGonagall wasn't the only one to fight Snape in The Deathly Hallows, in the book it was her alongside Flitwick, Sprout, and Slughorn. A very important scene as it showcased the heads of the four houses coming together to fight off a common enemy. Then later Slughorn leads several Slytherin students out of the dungeons and into battle against Voldemort.
Pettigrew killing himself: I've heard that was done of censoring reasons. Harry Potter being seen as a children's story, having Peter strangling himself was deemed too shocking. I could not verify this, though. Marauder's Map: The movie not telling the true names of Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs (nice note, the are named in reverse order as in which they died, but that's beside the point) got even more irritating as Voldemort would only address Peter Pettigrew as "Wormtail" henceforth. Now the book version did the same (although it's not revealed how Voldemort knew Peter's nickname as far as I remember), it did make it more important for the true identities to be revealed, I think. Harry would later (in order not to let Umbridge know) refer to Sirius as "Padfoot" when trying to hint Snape about what was happening at the department of mysteries. Snape claims to have no idea (but that was in order to fool Umbridge), and Snape knowing the nicknames would only be obvious given his history with these four, yet the viewer not knowing. Could all work confusing, you know. SPEW: The Dutch version "Stichting Huiself Inburgering en Tolerantie", well, abbreviate that, and you actually get an English word. (The fully written out version means "Foundation House-Elf Integration and Tolerance", by the way). Not important, but a nice fun fact. Prefects: And not only were Ron & Hermione prefects for Gryffindor, but the movie also didn't mention Draco Malfoy being a prefect for Slytherin. Taboo: What is very annoying about the taboo itself not being revealed is an action by Xenophillius Lovegood, that he did NOT perform in the novels. He said the name "Voldemort" out of the blue to make sure the snatchers would come, so he could turn in Harry hoping to get his daughter Luna back. If you didn't know about the taboo because you never read the books, this action doesn't make sense at all. A few things not mentioned in this video, but which movie-only fans won't know, which is not unimportant. - Merope Gaunt was never mentioned at all in the movies, which is odd since she is Voldemort's mother. In some sort of way she raped Tom Riddle Sr. as the entire way Voldemort came to be is by drugging Tom Riddle Sr. as he actually didn't like Merope at all (drugging people in order to drive them to sex with somebody they'd normally never have sex with, is a kind of rape. The drug being a magic potion or an actually drug is irrelevant). Rowling already stated that Voldemort being unable to understand the entire concept of "love" was because Tom Riddle Sr. only made love to Merope under the effect of love potion. - Not only would it only be hinted in the "Fantastic Beasts" series, in the Harry Potter movies it was not clear at all that Dumbledore was actually homosexual and in love with Grindelwald. And if that wasn't wrong enough, although the gossip auntie already hinted to this in HP7, if it wasn't for the death of Ariana, Dumbledore might actually have ended up as one of the most dangerous wizards of all time (maybe even far more dangerous than Voldemort ever was). - I also don't remember that the movies ever revealed that James Potter actually saved the life of Severus Snape (and also not how that happened). This is important as for a long time it was implied that Snape only protected Harry in order to pay off his life debt to James, while the true reason was his love for Lily. (Dumbledore even shares this false information with Harry, also showing that Dumbledore is actually not the saint he appears to be). - Percy wrote Ron a letter in which he congratulated Ron on becoming a prefect, but also advising him to break off his friendship with Harry Potter and to seek guidance from Dolores Umbridge. There are also these: - Fred & George ordered Peeves to give Umbridge hell on their behalf, and this was the first (and so far only) order Peeves ever took from students. McGonagall even helped him a few times on this. - The orphanage owner drank loads of gin. - Ludo Bagman and Winky. Who are they? - House Elves get drunk by drinking butterbeer. Humans hardly seem affected, as the alcohol percentage appears to be too low. - Draco Malfoy found support in the most unlikely personal imaginable when he has to kill Dumbledore, but is afraid to do it. Moaning Myrtle. Not only that, when Malfoy was almost killed by Harry's Sectumsempra curse, Snape was alarmed because Myrtle began to shout things like "MURDER!" I don't remember if it's truly mentioned, but I thought it was heavily implied that Myrtle also didn't like Harry anymore after that incident. - Petunia KNEW what "Azkaban" and "Dementors" were, which surprised the hell out of both Harry and Uncle Vernon. This was a very important hint to why Petunia hated the Wizarding World (as she was just jealous for not being able to perform magic herself). - Dumbledore sent Petunia a howler. Harry couldn't recognize the voice as it was distorted and the message "REMEMBER MY LAST, PETUNIA!" didn't make much sense to him. It was only at the end of that book, that Harry found out that Dumbledore sent that howler. - The Bloody Baron is the Grey Lady's murderer. But I guess that was lesser important, but still nice to know. - The Gaunt family took pride in being direct descendants of Salazar Slytherin. They even only spoke Parslespeak in his honor. This also explains a part of the question how Voldemort could open the Chamber of Secrets, as according to myth only Slytherin's heir could do so. Well Voldemort *was* a descendant of Slytherin after all. - The name "Frank Bryce". We see him in the movies, but his name is NEVER mentioned. - Firenze getting himself banished from the Centaur herd - Arithmancy was Hermione's favorite subject - Harry was asked during his DADA exam to cast a patronus for extra bonus points. A happy thought is what makes a patronus powerful and by wishing Umbridge would get fired, he was able to conjure the best patronus he ever did. - Dumbledore only mentioned "priori incantatum" by name and asked if Harry saw his parents, after his fight with Voldemort. How this phenomenon came to be was never fully discussed (although Voldemort makes a kind of mention to this in HP7). As soon as Olivander sold the brother of Voldemort's wand to Harry he immediately sent an owl to Dumbledore to tell him Harry bought this wand. - Nymphadora's aunts happens to be Narcissa and Bellatrix. Movie never reveals this. That Nympadora's mother even looks identical to Bellatrix (even causing Harry to engage her in aggression by mistake only to be corrected by Ted). - Buckbeak was renamed "Witherwings" after Sirius stole it, this of course for its own protection. - Ginny and Molly didn't like Fleur, until the moment she revealed her true colors by not breaking up from Bill after being attacked by Greyback. Ginny even called her "Phlegm" all the time. - Although we see Nigel yell "LIGHTNING HAS STRUCK" once Harry returned to Hogwarts for the final confrontation with Voldemort, the station being hosted by River (Lee Jordan), Romulus (Remus Lupin), Royal (Kingley Shacklebolt) is never revealed. - Harry being asked by Lupin to be the godfather of his son. (Not fully sure, but I don't remember this being in the movie). - The Fidelius Charm, is as far as I remember NEVER mentioned at all in the movies. That's how Lily & James hid from Voldemort and Pettigrew was the secret keeper, and that's why Pettigrew is the reason Voldemort could find them, so it's not entirely unimportant. Sirius' house being under this charm so the Order of the Phoenix could be used as HQ was another, and that Dumbledore ghost appearing in HP7 as way to repel Snape (who was thought to be on Voldemort's side) was also a measure because Dumbledore was the secret keeper and due to his death all people who knew the secret would become the new secret keeper, including Snape. - Sirius' mother shouting all the time (even on paining). But to be honest, I wasn't sad they ommited that one in the movies Well, I guess I got enough now.
Well they couldn't include Peter's death because the higher up felt it was too dark/ graphic for younger audiences. If they had included it the flim would have an R16 rating.
Morgan is sooo detailed in all these videos for example in all his Easter egg videos I have read the books and watched the movie a countless of times and I would never pick up them little details.Keep the great content up Morgan!
Dang, I just took for granted that I knew all of those things because I have read the books as well as seen the movies. I never realized that they never specified who the Marauders actually were.
Crossing fingers and hoping that they will include all the missing details, information, characters, their arcs and such, in the Max TV series and do the books more justice in the terms of Missing these elements and being more accurate to the source material.
The SPEW part was okay to cut. When adapting into a film I don't find this important. They could have added a line or two on the subject without showing but they said screw it. Good points Morgan. I would have added the fact that the 4th movie cut out Ludo Bagman. For those that do know Ludo plays significant role in book 4. Speaking of St. Mongos, the 5th movie cut the scene of the trio talking to Augusta, and learning for the 1st time what happened to Neville's parents (well except for Harry if to be fair). Damn there are so much of these, I'd say part 2 might be necessary.
Something I really love about book Ron that wasn't quite portrayed in the movies is his loyalty. In the second book, when he and Harry decide to follow the spiders into the forbidden forest, Ron doesn't want anything to do with it, until he sees Hermione's empty seat in the Herbology class (at that time she was already petrified). In the book, Ron never went to the forest (Neville went instead of him) so he only knew the rumors about that place, and even more: spiders are his biggest fear, his boggart is literally a spider, and even then, he decided to enter the forest following the spiders, all for a chance to save his friend.
One of my favourite things percy did was yell out and say "oh forgot to say I quit" or something along those lines, just showed character, we never knew he had
Another big one is how Harry came back after being hit by the Killing Curse in the forest. The film does make it clear that his actions resulted in destroying the Horcrux, but what is left out in the film is that Harry was able to return specifically because Voldemort took some of his blood in the process of getting his body back and in doing so, he kept Lily’s Sacrifical Protection alive, so in turn when Harry allowed himself to be hit by the Curse, Voldemort instead only succeeded in destroying the Horcrux. The Elder Wand only mattered when it came to the final battle, contrare to what people who have only seen the films believe. This key detail should have been kept in the films, it even makes this line from Voldemort in the Goblet of Fire film have so much more meaning… “Astonishing what a few drops of your blood can do, Harry!” It really was astonishing. Too bad the films don’t actually mention that at all beyond Goblet of Fire.
To add to #6 in the movie Kaite Bell is also there in the same scene as Chi when she should have also been a pass out/graduate by then. 7:05 And it was Winkey who was caught with Harry's wand. 10:41 It is sad that the movie missed out the best tins line from the books. When Ron gets his prefect badge Mrs Weasley says something on the lines of everyone being a prefect from the family to which George reply, 'who are we, the next door Neighbours?' 12:45 It was even filmed for the movies. My another favourite scene in the books is in the HBP chapter 1, Half Blood Prince, which starts weeks after the end of OoTP. Be it the chapter title 'The other minister' or the description of the painting that announced Fudge's arrival were fun to read about. It was nice to know that Fudge accepted the fact that Serius was innocent (which he does to the British Prime Minister). It was the best start to the best book in my opinion. So, when we got the movie intro with the death eaters somehow flying and becoming invisible and destroying a bridge which wasn't even constructed until the 2000s, I was shocked. It is sad that we got minutes of unscripted moments which were not even in the book in place of memories of young Tom Riddle collecting artefacts that will later be converted into Horcruxes.
I love your videos. Me and my cousin grew up together. She was like a sister to me. She had a tubular pregnancy that caused her to be sterile. When i had 2 sons she asked me if she could think of them as her boys. I said of course, we can share them. This beautiful woman used to share everything with me when i was little. If she had money then i had money. I was so happy to be able to share something with her. My boys loved hp and i bought every movie when it came out. We watched the first 3 movies together as a family. Then she got leukemia and died before i could even give her a bone marrow donation. As long as you make hp videos, i will watch them until i die. My boys are grown and healthy. I pray that you stay healthy and safe so you can make more videos.
I remember that in the book the Gargoyle that guards the Headmaster office refuse to let Umbridge get in even if she said the correct password, and the fight against Snape was with more than just Mcgonagal but other teachers also join the fight.
speaking of B. Crouch Jr sitting under an invisibility cloak, gotta add Harry's cloak is not the only one, there are a lot of invisibility cloaks in HP world
Yes but harrys keeps working while others slowly fade off till no longer working. Compare it to a cell phone battery that in time cant be recharged no more while harrys has a super battery that keeps working forever
Yeah, I love how they found out Harry’s was THE cloak because normally they grow bad and stop working after a few years but his has been in the family for generations.
Im not sure if you’ve covered this in previous videos, but one of the most important omissions from the books is the mirror Sirius gave to harry. It had tremendous repercussions from the moment it was given, up until the final battle. Just my humble opinion
They had no time - not even 1 additional minute - to tie up the information about the marauders so as to make it all make sense. But creating a plot hole for no reason right at the start of the movie ("Lumos maxima") - yes, we need that, keep that in!
@@savannahryan91and cut out the whole fight inside Hogwarts as well. That would have been a much better action scene...and wouldn't make both the Ministry and the Order look stupid and careless for not putting the layers of protection spells over the Burrow while Harry was there like they did in the book.
@@Batman-hb9dh trace was explained fairly well I forget if it was in the books or a theory that I think makes sense. Basically the trace detects magic around the user not who did the magic, the assumption being that adult wizards should be able to control their kids when they are at home. Harry got in trouble for Dobby, and with Harry being the only wizard for miles it had to be him. Biggest thing that upset tbh was the Lumos maximum scene like tf hello last time he did that he got in trouble!! CONSTANT NEVER CEASING VIGILANCE to continuity
Another thing people might not know is that Harry never destroyed the Elder Wand in the book, he put it back in Dumbledore’s tomb with him. And the fact that they had him break it in the movie *PISSED ME OFF*
I'd love to see a part 2. One thing the movie only fans won't know is that the interior and trunk/boot of the Weasley family car were bigger on the inside.
It was Fake Moody's initial plan. He gifted Neville a book that included gillyweed. But Harry never asked Neville to help, so the plan failed. Luckily for Fake Moody, Dobby came for the rescue.
The first thing I always think of first is, that The thing Harry always stares in in deathly hallows is acually a piece of (broken) mirror Sirius put in Harrys trunk when they met at Christmas in Order of the Phoenix, as a way to comunicate. As is was hidden at the bottom of the trunk, sadly Harry only found it after Sirius death. It just makes this death so much more tragic knowing that it (and the whole battle in the department of mysteries) could have been avoided had Harry known about and used it earlier.
I love how you included all of Hermione's ruthless moments. She is definitely a rule follower in the text but she will launch the nukes if you double cross her.
She is also a formidable foe if she wants to be. Umbridge had a bit of a challenge trying to justify her teaching method. She, like McGonnagal, managed to oppose Umbridge without getting into trouble. Harry scolded her all the time and got into detention.
Of all of those to me the most important and crucial was the entire map situation. Harry should have known about his dad's involvement and especially learned about the friendship with Lupin. Great video...forgot most of these, but remembered more than not. Excellent work!
I was just telling my grandson about this! He loves all your videos so I can't wait for him to watch because he's only read the first 2 books all the way through, so this might inspire him to read them all... I believe one of the most dramatic is Wormtail's hand killing him. Dumbledore told Harry after he shared his concern that he had let Pettigrew escape that Peter was now indebted to Harry and this might come back to haunt him.... and it surely did.
As a former addict myself I think it’s important you are honest about your addictions and I appreciate how you are open about your problems. It creates a discussion and takes away some of the nuance. Keep on keeping on!
The Movies never mention How Fast Harry’s Hair Grows, when the Dursleys try and cut it! (My Dad Joking Says I have Harry Potter hair, because of the speed of my hair growing back)
My 13-year-old son just finished the Deathly Hallows a week ago, and he loved the entire franchise. He wanted to go through and re-read them all but unfortunately he has 20 novels he has to read by the end of November for his English project so we'll be working on that for the next few months, but once he has completed the list he said he's going straight back to the Philosopher's Stone and he's going to re-read them. He asked if it would be good the second time around, and I said, in some ways, it will not be as good because you know all the secrets. But, at the same time, it'll be much better because you know all the secrets
What I like about the Spew arc. Is that we get to run into Dobby again. And Dobby appeters in book 5 and 6. So when he is killed in Book 7. It's heartbreaking. Even reading where Dobby dies again feels like the first time...(everytime). Him appearing in the Dealthy Hallows part 1 and dieing is also sad. But it hits harder for me in the book version of the Deathly Hallows.
movie watchers don't know these things: 1. what is S.P.E.W? 2. who is Ludo Bagman? 3. how Fred and George opened their joke shop? 4. who is SNUFFLES? 5. who is winky? 6. Dobby and other house-elves works in Hogwarts. 7. Umbridge meets harry very first in the ministry. 8. what is bow truckles? 9. blast-ended skrewts ? 10. harry meets Draco Malfoy very first (not Ron) in Daigon alley.
I feel like the guys from HBO who are planning on making a Harry Potter series. They should watch this video and take notes 📝. If they are going to make a 7-season series with 10 1 hour long episodes per season. 70 episodes & 70 hours to tell Harry Potter story from the books.
The movies actually do refer to Sirius as Padfoot twice, when Harry writes to him in OotP and also when Harry tells Snape that he thinks Voldemort captured him in the Ministry. But, yeah it's very unlikely that you could figure it out from there because James and Remus are never referred to by their monikers and the Marauders were never a huge plot point in the movies.
I remember we saw Neville's grandmother in the last book, would have been in the 8th movie. A shame we didn't see that cool cameo. Imagine if Helen Mirren or Dame Judy Dench playing her. How cool would that have been having them come around a corner and kick Death Eater's butts.
I love that they are so different because it's like extending the story to alternative versions. Reading these books is a must! Makes watching the movies more fun and vice versa.
16 is mentioned. In the first movie after Percy greats Nearly Headless Nick, he says that his summer was "Abysmal, my request to join the Headless Hunt has been denied." Then he shows us why he is nearly headless
at 15:00 you missed a detail. Voldemort went after the Potter rather than the Longbottoms, because Harry was a half-blood, like Voldemort himself. It wasn't merely chance, and the books emphasize this.
Book readers know the dumbledore’s obsession with the hallows is the reason for his downfall and assists with James potter’s death. 1: Harry’s invisibility cloak is one of the three deathly hallows. Dumbledore discovered this and asked James to borrow it to examine it thus James shed the cloak of invisibility allowing death to find him. 2. While dumbledore was searching for clues about Voldemort’s past, he finds guant’s ring and immediately identifies it as the resurrection stone. He lets his guard down and gets cursed by the horcrux that would have killed him had he and snape not planned his death. 3. The cloak and ring were family heirlooms that were handed down generation to generation which means that both harry and Voldemort were descendants of the peverell brothers
The Voldemort taboo was somewhat hinted at. Xenophilius uses his name to summon the Death Eaters rather than sending an owl, and they attacked his house.
-The name "Half Blood Prince" came from Snape being a half blood with his father having been a muggle and his mother a witch and his mother's maiden name being "Prince" (6th movie should have covered this since it is the literal title of that movie) -Ginny was unwilling to take bullying from anyone and had her own spell for it: The Bat Bogey Hex -The mirror shard Harry had with him was from a mirror Sirius had given Harry for Christmas in the Order of the Phoenix -The maze has multiple creatures and a mysterious mist -Barty Crouch Junior was able to escape Azkaban by switching places with his mother using polyjuice potion and was actually arrested as a teenager rather than as an adult -There was a troll challenge and a potions puzzle after the chess puzzle in the first book -Only Voldemort and Snape could flying without brooms rather than the rest of the Death Eaters being able to do it like in the films -Harry's dad actually saved Snape's life when Sirius was going to play a dangerous prank on him with werewolf Lupin -Harry and Fred and George get banned from Quidditch by Umbridge -Charlie Weasley attended Bill and Fleur's wedding and went with Harry, Hermione, Cedric and Amos, and his family to the Quidditch World Cup -Bane the centaur, Peeves the poltergeist, Ludo Bagman, and Winky the house elf were characters in the series -The killing curse can't be blocked by another spell except with Priori Incantatem -Hagrid's trip to recruit the giants -Draco tricked the trio into dueling with him at night in order to get them expelled in the first book -There was no attack on the burrow in the 6th book -Getting to the Hall of Prophecies required navigating a circular room of revolving doors -Harry's friends got injured in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries -Sirius used his animagus form to escape Azkaban -Crookshanks formed a partnership with Sirius -Harry and Ginny didn't kiss in the Battle of Hogwarts (I wish they did) -Harry went with Luna to Ravenclaw Tower to find the lost diadem -Cedric's mother made an appearance in the 4th book -Barty Crouch Senior went missing before the Yule Ball -Barty Crouch Junior transfigured his father's body into a bone and buried it in Hagrid's garden -Dean Thomas had been captured and brought to Malfoy Manor along with Griphook -Arthur Weasley wore glasses -Snape, Lily, and the Marauders were around 10-20 years younger in the books compared to the films -Harry got detention for the rest of the 6th year for using a dangerous spell on Draco -Harry and Ginny shared their first kiss in the Gryffindor common room in front of everyone -Harry didn't reveal he was alive to Voldemort, the death eaters, and Hogwarts right away nor did he fight Voldemort all over the school but rather stayed in the Great Hall with everyone watching -Harry didn't die in the Forbidden Forest in The Deathly Hallows due to Voldemort taking his blood in the graveyard in The Goblet of Fire -Snape told Voldemort about the Prophecy -The locket Harry and Dumbledore found in the cave belonged to Voldemort's mother, until she sold it at Borgin and Burkes -Voldemort was born because of a love potion his mother used on his father -The entire Gaunt Family storyline with the ministry and what happened to all of them afterwards -Harry wasn't in a subway cafe over the summer and when Dumbledore picked him up but rather stayed in his room at Privet Drive -Dumbledore confronts the Dursleys regarding their mistreatment of Harry -Harry receives Grimmauld Place and Kreacher after Sirius's death -Buckbeak was cooped up in Grimmauld Place -The blast-ended skrewts
Other omitted material includes: The baby dragon Norbert was really Norberta Dumbledore sent Hagrid & Madame Maxime on an embassy to the Giants, so that Hagrid was absent for much of the Fifth Year The films missed out the very first Pensieve vision telling about Merope Gaunt, her father & her brother The films said nothing about how young Voldy framed a house elf for the murder of Hepzibah Smith; or about how he was employed at Borgin & Burke’s at that time. Peeves was entirely left out of all the films.
The crazy thing about Umbridge sending the dementors to Little Whinging? The fact that Harry could make a Patronus was not public knowledge. So what did she really want to happen to Harry?
Yuh know, im legitimately happy with this video. Great job dude! Please make a part 2. Also im proud of you for heing able to admit publicly that you have a problem. That takes a lot of courage.
Harry , Fred and George were banned from playing quidditch by Umbridge in OOTP because they beat up Malfoy. Ginny was Harry's replacement as a Seeker first in the 5th book later becoming a chaser when Harry returns in book 6. Ron also joins the team as a keeper during Harry's absence as Oliver Wood had graduated. They actually won the quidditch cup without Harry that year as both Ginny and Ron played well.
One of my absolute favourite things in the Deathly Hallows book is the interaction with Kreacher about Regulus' locket, and learning about how much he suffered at the hands of Voldemort, and that that was the reason Regulus turned against the dark lord, sacrificing his own life to ruin Voldemorts plans, and Kreacher suffering even more having to watch it happen and, naturally, failing to destroy the locket and thus disobeying orders. And then, when Harry gave him the locket he made a full turn and became really helpful and loyal to Harry instead, because Harry was, I presume, the only one after Regulus, who finally treated him with some respect. I'll never forgive them for leaving that out of the movie. In the big picture, I know there are things more significant that actually affect the plot that they should have kept, but I just like this part because it affected me so much on an emotional level. It also ties together with the end of the book, post victory, when Luna helps Harry escape all the attention and he just wants to go and rest, and wonders if Kreacher may bring him a sandwich to the common room. That is not something Harry would've even considered if Kreacher had not had his character development, as it would likely have been a sandwich full of maggots.
That Petunia made the unbreakable vow with Dumbledore agreeing to raise Harry and allow him once he started Hogwarts, to come back and live in Little Winging
I read the books before the movies came out, so I remembered a lot of these things when I saw them. However, that was many years ago, and I've seen the films several times since then, so I'd forgotten a lot of these changes. I remember in the Triwizard Tournament, the book covered the other contestants, especially their dragon fights, but the movie only focused on Harry.
Even though I'm a movie watcher of Harry Potter and haven't read the books, I still know all of these facts since I've been watching movieflame for 3-4 years now and have watched all Morgan's Harry Potter videos ❤
This is why I’m with the opinion that HBO doing a Harry Potter tv show is very good. There was so much left out that we have a chance to actually see now. As long as we get book accurate Weasleys, a snarky Harry, and a Hermione who’s not perfect then I’ll be happy. I know a lot of people think it’s too soon since the series ended in 2011 but here’s the thing. Deathly Hallows part 2 came out in 2011. They’re not adapting Deathly Hallows yet. They’re adapting Philosophers Stone which came out in 2001. More than 20 years ago and considering the fact that we haven’t heard anything involving the show, even more time is gonna pass before it actually comes out. With all that in mind, I see nothing wrong with HBO redoing Harry Potter.
Casting will be top notch with HBO. Hardly ever fail there. Just can you imagine? They'll essentially have to run a whole school full of kids where some of those kids will be filmed doing awesome things for years on end. What a logistical nightmare. How will they manage quidditch? And we get to look in on it. Very Truman Show. Well that got dark rather quickly...
This is a great list. I think it hits on most of the main discrepancies between the books and the films. In my view the most inexcusable discrepancy is in the Prisoner of Azkaban - not explaining either that (a) the marauders who created the map were James, Lupin, Serius, and Peter and (b) that they were all Animagi. The fact that Prisoner is considered the best film is pretty shocking considering that it omits these critical plot points. Having said that - I hate to admit that Prisoner is still my favorite film. How about that for irony. Here are a few other facts from the books that don't make it into the film. In Book 1, Harry has to go back to the Dursley’s for a full month after Hagrid shows up and takes him Diagon Alley. Awkward. In the film, Harry goes directly to Kings Cross station that same day. In Book 1, when Quirrell meets Harry at the Leaky Cauldron, he isn’t yet wearing the turban and he can shake Harry’s hand, because Voldemort hasn’t yet taken over Quirell’s body. That happens later in the book. In Book 1, Harry became a Pariah among the Gryffindor students because he was responsible for losing 150 points when he got caught out of bed late at night, arranging for Norbert the dragon to be picked up by Charlie Weasley’s friends. Dumbledore restores those points at the end of the book. In Book 1, there are other challenges that the trio have to complete after going down the trap door, including a logic puzzle using deadly potions. Hermione is able to complete that puzzle, mostly because she is a muggle and knows how to use logic, which wizards are terrible at. It is interesting that Snape created the potions/logic puzzle. Was Snape more logical than a Wizard, because he was half blood? In Book 2, Ginny murders a bunch of chickens while under Voldermort’s control. Gruesome. In Book 3, Harry stays at the Leaky Cauldron for a couple of weeks after taking the Knight Bus, whereas in the films, it seems he is only there for one night before the Weasleys and Hermione show up. In Book 3, Cruikshank the cat is a major player who shows Harry and Hermione how to get past the Womping Willow and assists Sirius Black in his efforts to find Peter Pettigrew In Book 3, the reason that Sirius escapes from Azkaban is because he sees the newspaper article of Ron’s family in Egypt and recognizes that Scabbers is Peter Pettigrew. I don’t think this is explained in the film. Again, frankly, it is absolutely shocking how many critical plot points are omitted from the so-called “best HP movie” In Book 4 - the maze is populated by magical beasts provided by Hagrid that the champions have to overcome, including a Sphinx that requires you to solve a riddle. This is relevant because it shows that Harry is able to solve the riddle due to what he has learned from Hermione and her talent with logic and puzzles (see the point above about Book 1 and the potions/logic challenge). In other words, it shows that Harry is made stronger by his friends. None of this is reflected in the film, where the maze is just a … well… maze with some aggressive greenery. In Book 4, the entire story of Barty Crouch is completely lost in the film. He faked his own death by allowing his mother to replace him at Azkaban. Also, he killed his own father, transfigured him into a bone, and buried him in Hagrid’s garden. Morbid. Then the Minister of Magic subjects him to the Dementors’ kiss, which robs him of his soul and all of his memories, causing irreparable damage to the Wizarding world In Book 5, I’m going to give the film a pass here because it is so much better than the book. I have no complaints. In Book 6, Dumbledore was an absolute jerk to Harry because he wasn’t aggressive enough in getting Slughorn’s memory of Tom Riddle’s discussion about Horcruxes. That is some passive aggressive, manipulative behavior. Apparently, Dumbledore forgot that Harry’s best friend Ron had almost been killed by poison and so maybe Harry was a bit distracted. But sure, make a 16 year old feel guilty about not convincing a professor to turn over a secret memory that you (Dumbledore) yourself have had 50 years to recover and haven’t managed to accomplish. Albafore was kind of right about his brother, to be fair. In Book 6, at the astronomy tower, Harry doesn’t just stand by watching helplessly as Snape kills Dumbledore. Dumbledore uses a spell to freeze Harry so he can’t move, speak, or intervene. In fact, that’s how Harry knows that Dumbledore is truly dead, for real, because it is only after Dumbledore dies that Harry is released from the spell. In Book 7, Harry gives Remus crap about being a bad father who would abandon his wife and son. Brutal In Book 7, Dudley Dursley has a redemption arc. He left a cup of tea outside of Harry’s door and told him he wasn’t a complete waste of space. Awww.
About the Marauders, while it wasn't mentioned that the Marauders were James, Sirius, Lupin, and Pettigrew, in the scene where Harry uses Protego on Snape during the occulumency training, we see James calling Sirius and Lupin as Moony and Padfoot
In regards to #19, I'm 99% sure Ron explains to Harry and Hermione in Deathly Hallows 1 the movie that Voldemort's name is taboo. He learned about it from listening to the radio, which helped explain why those dudes showed up at the coffee shop earlier, and he stops Harry/Hermione mid-conversation as one of them was about to say the name
As a big Harry Potter fan I have never actually read the books. The only way that I know so much about the lore of the series is because I have literally watched all Harry Potter related videos from this channel, I think that they are still very interesting to watch even many years later. Right now I know basically everything about the Wizarding World so now I am focusing on finding out as much as possibile about Percy Jackson books and TV Show. For me it is not possibile to read or watch all of the content to keep up with it all and so your detailed videos are perfect for me, because I really enjoy them and I can passionately talk about my favorite series with my best friend who has actually read all of the books and knows much lore than even I do. Thank you Morgan for making such in depth videos about so many loved franchises! Keep up the good work!
Really immersing yourself in the books, especially the later ones, is rewarding in a way that even excellent videos are not. (I don't mean to downplay the quality or hard work behind these videos, which are impressive.)
I think the Malfoy / Black family connections is really interesting and would have loved to have seen more of their history in the films. How Narcissa, Bellatrix and Andromeda are sisters and cousins of Sirius and Regulus, and how Andromeda was disowned by her family for marrying a muggle born, whom she has Tonks with, and how Tonks is therefore Draco's cousin!
I love how Morgan bases his videos on the books and not the movies. So many RUclipsrs use the movies. This spreads a message on how definitive the books really are.
Yeah and they end up not making sense lol since the movies are so flawed story wise
Especially ignoring fantastic beasts movies and cursed child
@@Stitch-007other than the McGonagall's appearance(which shouldn't be possible) it was pretty good.
But ye cursed child was a abomination
@@justsomeone9627 more things regarding those movies that’s wrong than mcgonagall appearance.
Cursed child of course worse.
In my experience, there's a big focus on the books, then again I don't follow a lot of HP RUclipsrs tbh
Some additional facts:
1. The Crouch family also had a house elf, Winky
2. Dudley and Harry had one final conversation before the Dursleys left Privet Drive and the two shook hands
3. Narcissa and Bellatrix actually had a third sister, Andromeda, who is also the mother of Nymphadora Tonks
4. Draco had a somewhat friendship with Moaning Myrtle during the sixth year
@@flyntflossy3044Maybe to you. Some of us haven’t read the books.
But Andromeda was shown in the black family tree room. The only think they didn't say was that it was Dora's mother
@@aliahmedbanoo69420 you’re right, but it was so subtle that I’m sure if you ask any fan who casually watched the movies who is Andromeda, they most likely wouldn’t be able to answer
I LOVED WINKY SHE WAS SO FUNNY BUT DEPRESSING 😭
2 is a deleted scene IIRC
Wait i thought it was harry who ripped the letter
"Harry and Ginny break up after Dumbledore's funeral"
Movie watchers: "Dumbledore's funeral?!?!?"
The funeral was cut because it would have been too expensive
It was more so that Harry wanted to "take a break" because of 1, him being away looking for the horcruxes and 2, if his love for her was out there for everyone to know, the death eaters would use her to bait him out, putting her in harms way for the simple reason that they were together... all of which boss-bitch book Ginny would have none of xD
and it would have been way to sad for movie and book lovers alike
@@Beneaththenotes But at least we got the "Wands raised" scene, which has the SAME impact
Not after but during
Still didn’t finish the vid obviously, but the first thing that came to mind is Ginny actually got a personality and her relationship with Harry actually works
still upset that the movies messed that up
I’m still so upset with how Ginny was portrayed in the films, I love Bonnie but the writers didn’t give her much to work with
@@jaydas8976me too I love the way Bonnie portrays Ginny (and obviously the writers didn’t give her much to work with)but I think the problem was the chemistry, not the acting

Same 😁! Everytime I see any video of difference between Movies & Books ... First thing I remember is Ginny 😢& Harry-Ginny relationship ❤ !
Definitely would've been a cool flashback scene. It's not like they didn't have time... the last movies deviated a but towards the end.
It's a crime they didn't show Pettigrew's death. He's the reason for everything after the wizarding war and all the filmmakers give us is "OW"?
True, it must be shown to let everyone know where cheating your own friends lands you....
Number 1. "Did you put your name in the goblet of fire?" was asked calmly by Albus Dumble
Im done😅
@@ChibaMitsurugi19792 That scene was funny to me tho
Here’s one: Polyjuice Potion also changes your voice when you take it. This didn’t happen in the movies but it was pretty clear in the books.
Although in the "Goblet of Fire" movie Barty Crouch Jr had Brendon Gleeson's voice when impersonating Mad-Eye Moody.
i feel like it was implied in the movies, just not actually done
@@25jaimie they literally have the line "we still sound like ourselves" when they first took the polyjuice potion in the films.
@@emmasilver2332which contradicts Crouch Jr sounding exactly like Mad-Eye moody
@@fulanoide718 yeah that was the one exception to the movies I do believe. All the other ones it didn't change their voice.
Fun book fact: Dumbledore didn’t know about the room of Requirement until the fourth book, where he needed a toilet.

@i.marchand4655 Nah that’s low I wouldn’t blame Percy for that.

Just to name a few
- The maze task in The Goblet of Fire had several incredibly dangerous creatures
- The two-way mirror
- Signs of "weird figures" when Vernon commutes to work
- Apparition exams
Blast-ended skrewts!
I also believe there was a Sphynx in the maze too
Yeah, I wondered why the Apparating lessons weren't shown in the 6th movie but were described in the "Half-Blood Prince".
Maybe they thought it would be drawing the line for how dark it was? I mean to be fair that's pretty dark, even for HP.
The reason they had to change it was because the producers felt that Pettigrew strangling himself to death wouldn’t be suitable for younger viewers.

Other things you left out: Part 2
-Harry Beat Voldemort in front of everyone
-Augusta Longbottom chose Neville’s wand
- Harry uses Polyjuice potions a lot more often
-Dumbledore saves Umbridge from the centaurs
-Draco had Crabbe & Goyle use Polyjuice potions for disguises
-Snape tried to kill Trevor the toad
-Umbridge made Filch maim Hedwig
- Voldemort‘s Backstory
-Crabbe tried to kill the trio
- Harry Didn’t Break The Elder Wand
- Bellatrix is first seen in The Goblet of Fire
- Harry sees the letter that Snape tore apart
-Harry got multiple detentions in the Half Blood Prince
-Filch was exposed as a squib
-Harry Potter beat Voldy in front of everyone
Some of these are important omissions, but other ones I really couldn’t care less about. Like “Dumbledore had madame Maxine join Hagrid” uh okay, but that plotline was extremely boring and part of the most bloated book in the series that was nearly 900 pages. Cuts needed to be made.
Edit: also the Crabbe one was totally justifiable because the actor was deadass not there to film
WAIT WHAT DID UMBRIGE TELL FILCH TO DO TO OUR BELOVED HEDWIG
They managed to cut out the entirety of book 6's main plotlines from the movie
Agreed! I originally loved the 6th film but then I read the book and was angry at how much they cut out 😭
@@LuvSlushie ultimately, only the first two books included the main plotlines in their entirety.
Yes! I wish they gave Tonks more screen time and I hate that they made Luna find Harry on the train in HBP instead of Tonks

Wait I'm confused, Krum was from Bulgaria right? And caught the golden snitch. How the heck Ireland won then?!
Krum knew that the Irish chasers was too good so he(Krum) just caught it to make it less embarrasing than it would have been
@@Lor_D_Richafa oh wow. Thank you for this
Would also love a part 2.
Thanks for mentioning Kreacher's redemption. He's my favorite character because of that. I like all the house elves :)
Listening to Jim Dale perform that chapter in the audiobook is heartbreaking. 😢
I think Crookshanka deserves a shout out. She was the one who tried to help Sirius get Wormtail. She deserves a mention but movies missed it out.
Also Winky getting caught with Harry's wand in Goblet of fire and her dismissal and coming to work at Hogwarts was missed too (in fact they omitted her character all together)
And finally Bart Crough Sr's rescue of his son and hia love and loyalty to wife, really deserves to be mentioned
Crookshanks is male
Making Crookshanks female by changing the name into "Crookshanka" is quite hilarious.
Umbridge: Cedric diggory's death was a tragic accident

Ouch!😊 Nice one.😂
Fantastic video !!! The worst one of me is the movies never said that SNAPE was the one who overheard the Prophecy and told Voldemort 😢
as someone who originally watched the movies before reading the books thank you for this
Same
There's also the fact that McGonagall wasn't the only one to fight Snape in The Deathly Hallows, in the book it was her alongside Flitwick, Sprout, and Slughorn. A very important scene as it showcased the heads of the four houses coming together to fight off a common enemy. Then later Slughorn leads several Slytherin students out of the dungeons and into battle against Voldemort.
Slughorn leading the Slytherins into battle never happened lol. Jk Rowling stated it in an interview, but it was never in the books

best times when a new harry potter upload is there
Pettigrew killing himself: I've heard that was done of censoring reasons.
There are also these:
- Fred & George ordered Peeves to give Umbridge hell on their behalf, and this was the first (and so far only) order Peeves ever took from students.
- Firenze getting himself banished from the Centaur herd
- Arithmancy was Hermione's favorite subject
- Harry was asked during his DADA exam to cast a patronus for extra bonus points.
But to be honest, I wasn't sad they ommited that one in the movies
Well, I guess I got enough now.
Yes, exactly, so many differences.
◾Hogwarts ghosts! All of them! I loved reading about each of their story👻 well, as much as we had🤷🏽♀️
Bruh I always thought Peter Pettigrew's death was brutal and was so disappointed when i saw the Deathly Hallows movies
Well they couldn't include Peter's death because the higher up felt it was too dark/ graphic for younger audiences. If they had included it the flim would have an R16 rating.
Literally so glad this channel exists because I have someone to share my obsession of Harry Potter and the Wizarding world with ✌🏼☺️
Morgan is sooo detailed in all these videos for example in all his Easter egg videos I have read the books and watched the movie a countless of times and I would never pick up them little details.Keep the great content up Morgan!
Wow...I didn't know you were suffering from alcoholism. I pray for you man, I hope you get a great healthy life, I believe in you!
He made a whole video on it. Very moving!!!
I didn’t know either
part 2 please. some of these things i completly forgot about even being a massive book fan
Yes, so excited for this TV series 🙌
This key detail should have been kept in the films, it even makes this line from Voldemort in the Goblet of Fire film have so much more meaning…
“Astonishing what a few drops of your blood can do, Harry!”
It really was astonishing.
Crouch Jr sitting under an invisibility cloak, gotta add Harry's cloak is not the only one, there are a lot of invisibility cloaks in HP world
True but Harry's is a deathly hallow and works permanently. The other invisibility cloaks will eventually stop working.
Yes but harrys keeps working while others slowly fade off till no longer working. Compare it to a cell phone battery that in time cant be recharged no more while harrys has a super battery that keeps working forever
Harry's is the only permanent one though
Yeah, I love how they found out Harry’s was THE cloak because normally they grow bad and stop working after a few years but his has been in the family for generations.
Im not sure if you’ve covered this in previous videos, but one of the most important omissions from the books is the mirror Sirius gave to harry. It had tremendous repercussions from the moment it was given, up until the final battle. Just my humble opinion
Great job Morgan, I have been watching you since you Severus Snape origins video and you have been making great content ever since. Keep it up!
They had no time - not even 1 additional minute - to tie up the information about the marauders so as to make it all make sense. But creating a plot hole for no reason right at the start of the movie ("Lumos maxima") - yes, we need that, keep that in!
Same with Half Blood Prince when they cut a bunch of the memories just to add the stupid burning of the Burrow scene.
Tbh its not much of a plothole in the movie cuz the trace wasnt fully explained
Whenever I’m talking to people who haven’t read the books, they always go, “what, I didn’t know that!” And I just have to go 🤦🏼🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♀️

nerrrd
And they are also mostly the ones who hate Ron and call him dumb and useless too. Because the movies gave poor Rupert nothing to work with!
Another thing people might not know is that Harry never destroyed the Elder Wand in the book, he put it back in Dumbledore’s tomb with him. And the fact that they had him break it in the movie *PISSED ME OFF*
Especially since he didn't even fix his wand before he did
@@thedragonwarrior5861 yoooooo I forgot all about that!!!!! Now I’m pissed off all over again
I'd love to see a part 2. One thing the movie only fans won't know is that the interior and trunk/boot of the Weasley family car were bigger on the inside.
I actually like the change that Neville is the one to give harry the Gilly weed in the 4th book/movie. I feel like that would be in his character.
Today was a rough day, thanks for posting this, this helps a lot!❤
This will be a massive spoiler tho
As a former addict myself I think it’s important you are honest about your addictions and I appreciate how you are open about your problems. It creates a discussion and takes away some of the nuance. Keep on keeping on!
The Movies never mention
How Fast Harry’s Hair Grows, when the Dursleys try and cut it!
Even though i have read the books and I love your videos because they help my memory of Harry Potter and they are so good. great job.

1. what is S.P.E.W?
2. who is Ludo Bagman?
3. how Fred and George opened their joke shop?
4. who is SNUFFLES?
5. who is winky?
And when Mrs. Weasley found out about Ron being named prefect we got one of the best Fred and George lines in “what are we? Next door neighbors?”
4:04 it's also said that Cho is worried about failing her O.W.L.s in the Order of the Phoenix film but not the book.
I am just halfway through the video and i can tell this is definitely the best video on Harry Potter on RUclips ❤
The CHOSEn one, Voldemort CHOSE Harry, making him the CHOSEn one? did anyone else get that or just me?
"Again, that's a topic for another video". 😅 Oh I can't wait for a Hermione deep dive!
Since I read the books before I ever saw any of the movies, I never realised these facts weren't included in the films. Enlightening🤩
The Voldemort taboo was somewhat hinted at. Xenophilius uses his name to summon the Death Eaters rather than sending an owl, and they attacked his house.
I believe it was also mentioned in a deleted scene, where Ron apparently hears about it while at the Ministry
@@thedragonwarrior5861 I didn't realize Ron mentioning the taboo was a deleted scene. I was confused when that was included in this list.

-Harry got detention for the rest of the 6th year for using a dangerous spell on Draco
-Harry and Ginny shared their first kiss in the Gryffindor common room in front of everyone
-Harry didn't reveal he was alive to Voldemort, the death eaters, and Hogwarts right away nor did he fight Voldemort all over the school but rather stayed in the Great Hall with everyone watching

Other omitted material includes:
The baby dragon Norbert was really Norberta
Dumbledore sent Hagrid & Madame Maxime on an embassy to the Giants, so that Hagrid was absent for much of the Fifth Year
The films missed out the very first Pensieve vision telling about Merope Gaunt, her father & her brother
The films said nothing about how young Voldy framed a house elf for the murder of Hepzibah Smith; or about how he was employed at Borgin & Burke’s at that time.
Peeves was entirely left out of all the films.
The crazy thing about Umbridge sending the dementors to Little Whinging? The fact that Harry could make a Patronus was not public knowledge. So what did she really want to happen to Harry?
She probably just wanted him out of the way for "daring to defy the ministry"
one thing that could be added is how sirius didn't die from bellatrix's killing curse it was a spell that knocked him back into the veil
Right. The spell that hit him was described as being red (like a stunning spell).
Yuh know, im legitimately happy with this video. Great job dude!
Please make a part 2.
Also im proud of you for heing able to admit publicly that you have a problem. That takes a lot of courage.
I always forget that Krum is on the US cover of The Goblet of Fire due to his head not being shaved like it was in the film.
Yesss the legend posted!!!
This and Dudley's turnaround.
@@SecretSurname Agree! At least they filmed some of that... though it only ended up as a deleted scene.
It's a good day when Morgan uploads
Agreed
In Book 3, Cruikshank the cat is a major player who shows Harry and Hermione how to get past the Womping Willow and assists Sirius Black in his efforts to find Peter Pettigrew
In Book 3, the reason that Sirius escapes from Azkaban is because he sees the newspaper article of Ron’s family in Egypt and recognizes that Scabbers is Peter Pettigrew. I don’t think this is explained in the film. Again, frankly, it is absolutely shocking how many critical plot points are omitted from the so-called “best HP movie”
In Book 4 - the maze is populated by magical beasts provided by Hagrid that the champions have to overcome, including a Sphinx that requires you to solve a riddle.
Morbid. Then the Minister of Magic subjects him to the Dementors’ kiss, which robs him of his soul and all of his memories, causing irreparable damage to the Wizarding world
In Book 5, I’m going to give the film a pass here because it is so much better than the book.
Brutal
In Book 7, Dudley Dursley has a redemption arc. He left a cup of tea outside of Harry’s door and told him he wasn’t a complete waste of space. Awww.
Peter: *gets new hand*
Voldemort: ew get tf away from me
Peter: i serve master
Also Peter: *k!ll$ himself cuz he betrayed master
About the Marauders, while it wasn't mentioned that the Marauders were James, Sirius, Lupin, and Pettigrew, in the scene where Harry uses Protego on Snape during the occulumency training, we see James calling Sirius and Lupin as Moony and Padfoot
I am suprised that umbrige was not a oficial death eater 💀😱
So was I. The bitch was certainly hateful enough.
In regards to #19, I'm 99% sure Ron explains to Harry and Hermione in Deathly Hallows 1 the movie that Voldemort's name is taboo. He learned about it from listening to the radio, which helped explain why those dudes showed up at the coffee shop earlier, and he stops Harry/Hermione mid-conversation as one of them was about to say the name
people who read the books but are watching this anyways
vvvv
agreed
Me!
Me
Harry Potter tv reboot would show all of it
As a big Harry Potter fan I have never actually read the books.
I have to read the books . Don't I 🙂🙂🙂
Yes. No debate
yes facts
I think the Malfoy / Black family connections is really interesting and would have loved to have seen more of their history in the films. How Narcissa, Bellatrix and Andromeda are sisters and cousins of Sirius and Regulus, and how Andromeda was disowned by her family for marrying a muggle born, whom she has Tonks with, and how Tonks is therefore Draco's cousin!
