I have to say, this was the best recipe/technique I found, I've never made this and was put off by the fact that i need a heavy cast iron pan and put it in the oven first to heat, then take it out, be careful with the super hot cast iron pan pour the mixture then back to the oven, it was too much for a pancake...but this is doable, thank you so much.

When making Yorkshire puddings, I put the pan in the oven while it’s being pre-heated with some oil, fat, or butter and take it out when the oven is ready to pour in the batter, before it goes back in. That way I’m using the oven while I’m pre-heating it and I don’t need to worry about stove top to oven cookware. I think most people in the UK do this.

Top with pancetta or prosciutto, fluffy crisp hash browns, a little shredded cheese, and scallions.
For cheese, Gruyere, or Jarlsberg. But you can also use pepper jack, mozzarella, provolone, or whatever you like.
Dutch babies are so versatile, quick and delicious. Easy to mix all the ingredients, except toppings, in your blender for a meal in no time.

As I have learned, from watching other cooking videos and one cook/chef saying so, you should crack your eggs into a separate bowl just in case the egg/eggs is/are not fresh/spoiled/doesn't look great, whatever you might want to call it. Once it's added to another ingredient, if it's not right, you'd have to throw everything in that bowl out and start over.

I made it exactly as you did, and it didn't hardly rise, so I tried it a second time and heated up the pan in the oven with the butter..and then made it. Each time it was not cooked after 23 minutes, and was too gooey in the middle.. I used a stainless steel pan and it stuck a little bit in the center. All in all? Didn't work and I want it to!

I have a conundrum. I have tried to make the 'impossible pie' or 'miracle pie' 4 times now. The pie is supposed to form 3 layers, it's own coconut topping, the egg based filling and a pie crust at the bottom. But I always end up with something more similar to coconut flan. What am I doing wrong?

A Dutch baby pancake, sometimes called a German pancake, a Bismarck, or a Dutch puff, is a large American popover.
A Dutch baby pancake is similar to a large Yorkshire pudding. Compared to a typical pancake, a Dutch baby is always baked in the oven, rather than being fried on both sides on the stove top, it is generally thicker than most pancakes, and it contains no chemical leavening ingredients, such as baking powder.
The idea of a Dutch baby pancake may have been derived from the German Pfannkuchen, but the current form originated in the US in the early 1900s.

*Way* too much butter in the pan; the pan wasn't preheated; that pan may have its place in the kitchen but not in making a Dutch Baby pancake a deep cast iron really is the best pan. The original using powdered sugar and lemon lets you savor the simplicity of the dish without overpowering it. Serve the berries on the side if you like. The two easiest things to make for breakfast... a basic omelet and a Dutch Baby.
