Your brain did go in the right direction, at least at the beginning when you filled those holes with solder, which does transfer heat greatly. There was a risk of warping the shroud and thus damaging the ram chips when you put it back on the motherboard, but that's fine. All what you should have done is: when you filled the holes with solder, level everything up with sandpaper and apply thermal paste the size of the new heatsink and make two little holes for screws so you can screw down that heatsink. You method actually didn't help because you added more metal that will accumulate heat and surface area (solder) between the shroud is small, didn't fill all the surface between the shroud and the heatsink (thermal paste would be perfect), thus destroying every effort you made in the right direction. I'm not an expert, I do electronics, so heat accumulation and dispersion is one of the main problems I face daily.

Why would you do this? Just clean the console out and do new thermal pads and paste. This is useless.

A thermal paste on the heatsink was enough no need to solder it

Filling those holes isn’t good. That’s why heat syncs are built to be layers of THIN meta. So now when those heats up it’s gonna be 2x herder for them to cool . .

get a toothbrush to clean with loquoer thinner on your heatsink dirt but the worst is u put on top of the metal on your heatsink i think 10 percent only on heat deduction

This is absolutely fail on every aspect of heat dispersion. Horrible.

Do they come with one of those from factory? Mine didn't and it overheated so much that it sumitted cuiside

por dios que desastre XD limpia el flux! y usa pasta termica para pegar el disipador! habras dejado un monton de porqueria y burbujas de aire debajo del disipador y asi sera muy poco eficiente

What was the point of this ?? Why solder a heatsink directly to something too lmfao.

Thermal paste is used to compensate for gaps from cheap manufacturing processes.
Mineral oil has 10-30 times the thermal conductivity of thermal paste when a proper flat mating surface is utilised!
