Thanks for your reply Id. I get your point it’s not a custom build and we ripped nothing out or modified the externals of the PlayStation and you are absolutely right about that. 😉 But we also modified the way the ps4 is transferring the heat away from the APU by adding thermal interface material where there was nothing on the ESD shielding. Also we further reduced the Fan RPM of the PlayStation by adding thermal pads to the HDMI chip because that partially controls the fan speed. So maybe we could agree on that it’s not a big mod, like changing it to watercooling. But even exchanging the thermal paste against a better one would be by definition a mod. 😊 Thank you for the update take care 👍

Honeywell makes a proprietary dry heat sink pad that liquifies under heat and back to solid when cool. Replace the heat pads with new better quality types as well.
@@RRGCi further modded it by adding small copper heatsinks all around the retention bracket cover and drilled a hole where the fan is and added a fan dust filter on it :D
Just want to say thanks (und Danke!:), for this excellent, methodical tutorial. Your idea of placing extra thermal pads on the heatshield (at 15mins?), is a great suggestion. My PS4 Pro now hums along at 40-45dB.
i can just imagine how cool the temps would be if it was further away from the tv or monitor its sitting behind & drilled holes in the case above the fan 🥶🥶
Followed along with this, used thermalright 18w pads and noctua NT-H1. Idle temps dropped 20 degrees on the xmb and the fans don't ramp up half as much during game play, love it!

Excellent video with great commentary! Great Idea with the thermal pads between each layer of aluminum to dissipate the heat! Will be doing this to mine! Any concerns with the heat from the PSU? Any ideas for mods that could get heat out faster from the rear?
Thanks for those kind words. ☺️ I've modded my ps4 pro 2,5 years ago and never had any problem with the PSU so you could say there seems to be no problem with PSU heat.
Sounds like he replaced the thermal paste and the ram thermal pads as shown in the Video but without the heat conducting extra pads on the ESD shield. And also put a Thermal pad on the HDMI chip.
@@RRGC How many packs did you end up using on the pads? I see you have multiples there start of video? I want to execute your mod there as well. Will one pack suffice or do I need 2? Be well!
I did this mod and so far the fan is not as loud and no slow downs when running for long hours with max graphics. It was easy to do just as long as you organise the screws.
Hello, I have a question. I have readed that adding thermalpad for HDMI chip make console quieter because there is located temperature sensor on it which controls also fan speed. I would like to do this for my PS4 Pro but I am afraid one thing. If hdmi sensor gives data for fan speed, is lower temperatures on it and makeing fan spinning lower not affecting cpu bad in some way or other cooled parts inside? Like, ok hdmi is cooler fan speed lower but now cpu temps are higher from that and it makes degrade cpu chip faster or even phisicaly destroy it or bonding with mainboard? I am afraid it will spin too low and pro patched high demanding games will cook faster some other parts. Could you give me some informations about it, like how is your console after some time with it and if you tested it on long term with some demanding titles? Also if I would like to do this mod for HDMI chip how is the size of thermalpad for it, I guess there is more space to metal plate from it than 1mm like on videoram chips?
Hi Piotr, First of all my modded PS4 pro is running quietly for about 3 years so no there is nothing wrong with internal temps because the additional thermal pads transfer the heat away via the metal shielding. I only used the 1mm pads that are linked under the video the fitted perfect. 😉👍
@buurakacar and yet our modded PS4 Pro works since 4 Years. Since the temperature is also removed from the other components through pads the overall heat should lower. So modding the HDMI chip only add to the overall mod.
I did it yesterday. A few things came up to my mind. 1. Why is there no thermal pad behind the main cpu? would that transfer more heat away? 2. the HDMI pad doesn't really have contact to any metal. 3. the most important part of the ps4 pro "tuning" are not extra thermal pads, but cleaning the cooler unit. btw. the best way to get rid of old thermal paste are baby wipes (the ones without oil) and an old electric toothbrush. isopropanol afterwards.
1. Because it works without and is still silent. 2. it varies by revision of the ps4 pro. 3. the HDMI chip regulates the Fan Speed curve so the noise level greatly benefits from better heat transfer. 👍😋
I really like that your laughing on the tiny things. About the length of the video... I could watch you or anyone else MOD all day long. Specially while smoking a J (; Can you tell me about your table, like what material is it made of? Love from Pakistan!
I’m might give this a go. My ps4 pro was so quiet when I first got it, now it sounds like a jet any time I start a game. I’ve opened it a dusted it without any results.
Don't need a mod. Just disassemble down to the point of taking out the psu. Use a blower blow out the fan and heating. Clean the fins on the fans then put it all back together
With the help of your video (adding more thermal pads in strategic places) my very first gen ps4 pro with delta fan, went from self shutdown + 72 decibels on Marvel Avengers to 42 decibels. Now: Diablo 4 - 30 decibels (Necromancer character with 14 minions and full crowded enemies) Saints Row 4: 35 decibels (These are the most problematic games i had playing on ps4 pro) Thank you very much, best tuto for the ps4 pro and i watched sevral dozen before trying one 🙂
I used to only change the thermal paste of the processor, my PS4 pro still remained slightly noisy, I followed the tutorial and it hardly makes any noise even on call of duty where it had the used to doing a lot

Would the addition of extra thermal pads on the hdmi chip and heatsink clamp work with the cuh 7200 series of ps4 pros? The 7200s have a slightly different layout with the heatsink clamps and cover plates.
Same mine is cuh-7100 series and the internals are a bit different than yours in the video. And is it wise to put thermal pad on HDMI chip? Sony didn't put it for a reason maybe.
Hi, very nice your video. Many thanks, I have same issue and I hope to solve definitly in this way. Just a question, what do you think to apply the thermal pad also on the others chipset of the mainboard e.g. DDR3 RAM chipset and others? Waiting your answer, many thanks again!
Thank you Andrea. I've applied the thermal pads to the ram chips. It's the ones around the APU all the other chips except the ram and hdmi chip wont generate that much heat so I don't think it's worth the extra money. 😉
That’s a good idea. I’ve forgot it back then because of time constraints😊 I can say it is definitely quieter after modding even when playing graphics intensive games for 2-4 hours. 🙂 Thanks for your comment TheTruthBeTold you are welcome ☺️👍
Hi. This Mod seems to be very cool. ;) What temperatures do you measure on the topside of the console skin and the rear (heat-exhaust) before and after this mod?
As it was about silencing the fan I didn't measure the temperature at the exhaust. But the backside only gets lukewarm after the mod and the top gets a bit hotter. It seems the heat now dissipates through the case metal parts.
Hi Master Wong thank you for your question. The pads are 1mm in thickness as written in the Video description. You shouldn’t use thicker ones because it’s pretty snug inside a PS4 😄
Just did it now, and NBA 2K23 was inaudible! Ran into some differences that made things a bit more puzzling, but it all worked out, and I can't hear a thing!
Did you just add the new thermal pads over the chips or remove the old thermal pads on the chips before adding the upgraded pads?? The heat shield was pretty obvious, but I was curious about the motherboard thermal pads.
Why is everyone calling this a mod???🤔
Because Parts of the original cooling solution of the PS4 Pro get exchanged for better parts and some new cooling parts are added.

Yes thanks for the update Kelembor and now go and have fun with your now quit console. Take care 😁
Thanks for the guide and comparison data! I've also purchased the Nidec fan upgrade so I expect it to be even quieter. Hope your affiliate links count US purchases.
Thanks for the response. Maybe you could give us an update how the nidec upgrade turned out. The affiliate links should work world wide.
You are welcome ☺️
great work easy to follow view, I just finished my PS4 cleaning and updated thermal paste. the noice level is very low now. thanks for the view
Thanks for the Kind words you are welcome 😊
I just subscribed and will follow up results on my PS4 pro. I see many people who had positive feedback on your tutorial will try it myself. 👍😊
Thank you 💪😊
Great video, thank you sir!
I loved the extra thermal pad ideas, and the nice chilled jazz music 👌
You are welcome and thank you 😊
Excellent guide thanks, reduced volume by 40dB under load!!!
Perfect thank you for the update 😊
OmG i cannot believe how silent my PS4 became!great video it helped a lot!
You are welcome stavros and now have fun with your silent PS4 😁💪
Just ordered from Amazon, tried your links but i couldn't log in, so i used the app, but i donated 5 euros for this perfect video! Can't wait to do my upgrade, will return with feedback, thanks again!
Nice vid was looking around YT to take apart my Spider-Man pro was super loud but now with arctic TP3 pads and MX6 thermal paste it’s super quiet even on more demanding games almost as quiet as my ps5 lol
Thank you for your update. You are welcome eternalNightingale 👍😅
Worked like a charm, thanks brosephiage!
You are welcome 🤗
Honeywell makes a proprietary dry heat sink pad that liquifies under heat and back to solid when cool. Replace the heat pads with new better quality types as well.
Ohh that’s a good addition thanks for the tip Thomas 😋
@@RRGC You bet!
HOLY SHIT DUDE I LOVE YOU! I did this and my ps4 pro is now dead silent just like my pc!!!
You are welcome David 😄👍
@@RRGCi further modded it by adding small copper heatsinks all around the retention bracket cover and drilled a hole where the fan is and added a fan dust filter on it :D
@davidepannone6021 oh that sounds like a good add on to our technic 😝🤘🏻
my ps4pro went from full throttle jet engine to almost silent in full load. Subscribed!
Yes thank you and now have fun with your now silent ps4 pro 😄
It's like ASMR with that voice and occasional laugh
Ohh thank you Zulfan 😅
Just want to say thanks (und Danke!:), for this excellent, methodical tutorial. Your idea of placing extra thermal pads on the heatshield (at 15mins?), is a great suggestion. My PS4 Pro now hums along at 40-45dB.
You are welcome thank you for the feedback Mango62uk 😄👍👍👍👍
@@RRGC Alles gutes in 2023!
Dankeschön or should I say thanks to you too Mango62uk 😋
Thank you so much. Haven’t used my playstation much because of the noise! Just applied your hack and it works amazingly!!!!
Yeah you are Welcome enjoy your now silent PS4. 😉
i can just imagine how cool the temps would be if it was further away from the tv or monitor its sitting behind & drilled holes in the case above the fan 🥶🥶
Drilled holes in the case would negatively impact the airflow so it would get hotter in the end 😊
@@RRGC and collect dust
Yeah you're totally right 👍
Worked very well, played RDR2 directly after the install and the ps4 is almost completely silent 🔥
Perfect thank you for the update Nils😉👍
Followed along with this, used thermalright 18w pads and noctua NT-H1. Idle temps dropped 20 degrees on the xmb and the fans don't ramp up half as much during game play, love it!
Thanks for your response. Have fun with your now silent console. 😁👍
What did you use to check temps?
@@NeoEmc2 I'm running goldhen, the homebrew PKG I used to monitor temps is simply called 'PS4 temperature'
Hoffentlich klappt alles.
Bitte weiter so, mit all den guten Sachen. Ich wünsche Ihnen alles Gute...Toi, toi, toi ❤🧡💛.
Ja bitte bitte und viel Erfolg beim Umbau 😋👍
Thanx for the detailed video. I did the same and mine is super quiet. Had a lot of dust on heatsink and fan. Did as you explained. Thank you
You are welcome 🤗 And now have fun with your almost silent PS4 💪😊
This works great for FAT PS4 with a case fan right above the ram with better thermal pads and MX4
Sounds like a good idea 🙂👍
Replaced the thermal paste with arctic mx-4 on my PS3 recently, it used to sound just as bad as one of these PS4s but now it's nearly silent, even under load!
Yes thanks for the update and now have fun with your silent ps4. 😄
I did the exact same Procedure and it works perfectly
Thank you for your update 🙂
Excellent video with great commentary! Great Idea with the thermal pads between each layer of aluminum to dissipate the heat! Will be doing this to mine! Any concerns with the heat from the PSU? Any ideas for mods that could get heat out faster from the rear?
Thanks for those kind words. ☺️ I've modded my ps4 pro 2,5 years ago and never had any problem with the PSU so you could say there seems to be no problem with PSU heat.
Thank you so much for this! I can barely hear the ps4 pro at all when it's idle!!
You are welcome ☺️ have fun with your now silent PS4 pro 🙂

Thank you for the kind words rkmetha 🤗 Greetings back from Germany 😊👍 and now go and have fun with your PlayStation 😅
Most helpful vid on RUclips many thanks my friend.
You are welcome Bernie ☺️👍
Thanks, even without extra thermal pads my PS4 Pro is now not a jet engine anymore. THANK YOU!!!
Yes thanks for the reply and have fun with your now silent PS4 pro 😋👍
so what did you do exactly? what did you replace?
Sounds like he replaced the thermal paste and the ram thermal pads as shown in the Video but without the heat conducting extra pads on the ESD shield.
And also put a Thermal pad on the HDMI chip.
My sincerest thanks for this video, gonna follow it exactly here tomorrow!
You're welcome ☺️ 👍
@@RRGC How many packs did you end up using on the pads? I see you have multiples there start of video? I want to execute your mod there as well. Will one pack suffice or do I need 2? Be well!
I used two packs. One pack will work if you only exchange the RAM pads. 😊
@@RRGC My man with the lightning quick responses!
Always 😂⚡
This was so helpful and very thorough. Thank you sir.
You are welcome sir 😉
Going to do this to my pro today thank you for the video
Have fun modding and you are welcome 😊👍
I did this mod and so far the fan is not as loud and no slow downs when running for long hours with max graphics. It was easy to do just as long as you organise the screws.
Yes thanks for your response Tools and Things ☺️
Hey bud thanks for the video I mod mine ps4 sounds so quite I give you five star n two thumbs up no more jet plane sound n heating up , turning off
Im so glad that you are happy with your now silent PS4 😁
Hi Piotr,
First of all my modded PS4 pro is running quietly for about 3 years so no there is nothing wrong with internal temps because the additional thermal pads transfer the heat away via the metal shielding.
I only used the 1mm pads that are linked under the video the fitted perfect. 😉👍
You are right, applying a thermal pad over HDMI may be harmful. Low fan means high temperature.
@buurakacar and yet our modded PS4 Pro works since 4 Years.
Since the temperature is also removed from the other components through pads the overall heat should lower. So modding the HDMI chip only add to the overall mod.
@@RRGC I will trust you and paste it, thank you.
Thank you 😊
I did it yesterday.
Great video. PS4 pro first edition is no longer a jet engine. Whisper quiet.
Yes thanks for your response Robert we are glad we could help. Take care 😋
Perfect... i love my ps4 pro....
I was see to much videos...
And this is true and easy.

I really like that your laughing on the tiny things.
About the length of the video...
I could watch you or anyone else MOD all day long. Specially while smoking a J (;
Can you tell me about your table, like what material is it made of?

It’s ok, but specially with headphones it’s much too prominent.
thank you! My ps4 pro was about 65 decibels now it’s quieter than my ps5 🤝🙏

Thanks for the video. Can you tell me what thickness of the minus pads did you use? There's plenty to choose.
Yes it’s 1mm thickness link is in the video description 😉
Beautiful jazz... Play list please 🥹
Thanks it’s RUclips free music 😉
refreshing my Ps4 Pro with a Kryosheet and some Gelid Solutions GP-Ultimate 15W- Thermal Pad that have been proven to outperform the minus pad 8s
Yes that’s a superior solution but it wasn’t around when we made the video. 😅
What size Kryosheet did you use?
@aCiDzZ123 1mm link is in the description 😉
@@RRGC I'm asking @FrgottenFrshness 😉
Yeah sorry my bad 😄
Excellent video and a great result.
Thank you 😊
I’m might give this a go. My ps4 pro was so quiet when I first got it, now it sounds like a jet any time I start a game. I’ve opened it a dusted it without any results.
It definitely helps with the noise 😊
Don't need a mod. Just disassemble down to the point of taking out the psu. Use a blower blow out the fan and heating. Clean the fins on the fans then put it all back together
That’s perfect if it works for your PS4 pro 😊👍
Thank you very much for the tutorial 🙂
You are welcome 😋
With the help of your video (adding more thermal pads in strategic places) my very first gen ps4 pro with delta fan, went from self shutdown + 72 decibels on Marvel Avengers to 42 decibels.
Now: Diablo 4 - 30 decibels (Necromancer character with 14 minions and full crowded enemies)
Saints Row 4: 35 decibels
(These are the most problematic games i had playing on ps4 pro)
Thank you very much, best tuto for the ps4 pro and i watched sevral dozen before trying one 🙂
@onikusanagi Perfect thanks for your update and results ☺️
I used to only change the thermal paste of the processor, my PS4 pro still remained slightly noisy, I followed the tutorial and it hardly makes any noise even on call of duty where it had the used to doing a lot
Thanks for your update MrRobin nice to hear your PS4 Pro is now officially in the Silent Club. 💪😄
Take care and now have fun with your silent gaming machine. 🤗
Yours the Red Rage Gaming Crew. 👍
Wow thoes results were amazing!!
Super :D
What did you use for the products like what thermal paste and thermal pads did you use and is it way quieter when running rdr2?
Links in the description and yes
Would the addition of extra thermal pads on the hdmi chip and heatsink clamp work with the cuh 7200 series of ps4 pros? The 7200s have a slightly different layout with the heatsink clamps and cover plates.
Im Not sure about the 7200 series model because no one I know owns this specific model but maybe it's worth a shot . 😊
Same mine is cuh-7100 series and the internals are a bit different than yours in the video. And is it wise to put thermal pad on HDMI chip? Sony didn't put it for a reason maybe.
Danke fuer deine VDO .My ps4 is dead silent now. Viele gruesse aus Bangkok.
You are welcome 🙂 good to hear that your ps4 won't make any excess noise 👍😀
Everyone should do this mod…. Liked a video after so many days… thanks man… ps4 pro is dead silent.
Perfect thanks for your update and you are welcome 😌
Hi, very nice your video. Many thanks, I have same issue and I hope to solve definitly in this way. Just a question, what do you think to apply the thermal pad also on the others chipset of the mainboard e.g. DDR3 RAM chipset and others? Waiting your answer, many thanks again!
Thank you Andrea. I've applied the thermal pads to the ram chips. It's the ones around the APU all the other chips except the ram and hdmi chip wont generate that much heat so I don't think it's worth the extra money. 😉
Hi, what's the thickness of the thermal pad used? Thnxs
0.5mm thickness. Thanks for your comment and you are welcome 🤗
thanks for the reply. But do you replace the pad or put it over the old one?
Always replace it 😊 also happy new years 🥳
Should've shown us an audio sound of the console running a graphics heavy game after 30min or an hour to really hear if it worked.
That’s a good idea. I’ve forgot it back then because of time constraints😊
I can say it is definitely quieter after modding even when playing graphics intensive games for 2-4 hours. 🙂
Thanks for your comment TheTruthBeTold you are welcome ☺️👍
Really helpful, thanks! Anyway, can we use the 0,5mm thermal pad? Thanks!
Thank you 🙏 yes the 0,5mm one should be fine. We linked the right size in the video description. 😋
Would you be able to do one of these tutorials for the phat PS3? With the thermal pads and paste?
I'm sorry Perez I only have a slim ps3 and the fat ones are hard to get here. 😓
@@RRGCDO IT! DO IT! PLEASEEE!!!! FOR PS3 SLIM
Im so sorry we don’t have a ps3 or ps3 slim at hand to make a video.
Yeah we’d really like to but we still don’t have a ps3 slim around. 😅
How thick were those thermal pads you used? 1, 1,5, or 2mm? Is thicker better?
Hi Master Wong thank you for your question. The pads are 1mm in thickness as written in the Video description. You shouldn’t use thicker ones because it’s pretty snug inside a PS4 😄
Nice looks like I'm going grizzly
You are welcome 👍☺️
Just did it now, and NBA 2K23 was inaudible! Ran into some differences that made things a bit more puzzling, but it all worked out, and I can't hear a thing!

Thank you very very much.
You are welcome 👍😊
Did you just add the new thermal pads over the chips or remove the old thermal pads on the chips before adding the upgraded pads?? The heat shield was pretty obvious, but I was curious about the motherboard thermal pads.
Remove every old thermal pad and then apply the new ones 👍
What I'm asking is there only the 8 pads on the chips? Do you replace the ones in the heat pan as well@@RRGC
All of them yes. And added some new ones at important points as shown in the video. ☺️
