Wood Turning Coasters with Carbide Tools

- I woodturned these coasters out of imbuia wood my friend gave me. It's a really easy beginner project on the lathe, and I'm really happy how they turned out! My cuts with the carbide tools are finally starting to get a little cleaner too, so I feel like I'm getting better at wood turning basics. Woodworking with exotic wood can be really fun.
My tools:
Resin: amzn.to/2nUhFPg
Jet Lathe: amzn.to/2NSotba
Carbide Chisels: amzn.to/2NUiEdq
Nova Chuck: amzn.to/32tJvkm
Face Shield: amzn.to/2Ac4Cvj
Respirator: amzn.to/2N7mxfm
Miter Saw: amzn.to/2ZpjuBW
Drill: amzn.to/2XtnW0G
Square: amzn.to/2VaCNzW
Clamps: amzn.to/2UvPSiZ
Why not use a parting tool? Would that work with a final cutting with a Japanese Pull Saw?
Parting tool takes a bit more meat out of your wood. More mess, less coasters.
Be careful with that chop saw and the small flats against the fence. I've seen these saws catch if there is not enough support. You really don't want your fingers nearby. I would recommend a band saw if you have one.
What was the template piece you used?
Nice job, may have to make some when I get the right wood. Cheers
Those look fantastic. You need a bandsaw though.
They're yours, good thing you like them
I never thought about making many coasters from one piece of wood. Great idea
Simply project but very elegant 👌
Thanks, this one was pretty fun
Nice job 👍
Thanks!
These coasters look amazing. What a nice addition to add with a nice bottle of wine and cheese/grape platter. Awesome video.
Thanks!
