- Woodturning enthusiasts often turn to Purpleheart wood for its striking purple color and excellent durability. Using a Harvey T60S wood lathe, a powerful and precise machine, they can shape and refine a Purpleheart wood bowl to perfection. With the assistance of high-quality carbide woodturning tools from Easy Wood Tools, the woodturner can effortlessly carve intricate details and achieve smooth surfaces. To enhance the bowl's appearance and protect its surface, Yorkshire Grit, a specially formulated abrasive paste, is applied. This unique product helps achieve a flawless finish by removing any remaining scratches or imperfections. Finally, the woodturner applies a coat of microcrystalline wax, which not only adds a protective layer but also accentuates the wood's natural beauty, resulting in a Purpleheart wood bowl that is both visually stunning and long-lasting.

Lovely bowl JP. Sit that bowl out in the sun for a few hours on each side and the purple will be deep and very rich. Great stuff.

Beautiful work as always. You've probably mentioned this, but what do you do with all the things you turn? Sell them, give them to friends, donate them, all of the above?
Thanks mate, I have most of the stuff in storage but on occasion I would donate something, raffle something for charity or just give it away, I dont really sell my stuff to be honest….. I have been told I should many of times tho
Nice bowl and finish. When you say what tool your using could you also tell us what different speeds you use as it would be a great help cheers.
Yes I can do that
💪💪💪💪💪AWW YEAH
Thanks Sneek.....AWW YEAHH
Excellent tool control! How long will it take for the purple to pop?
If you put it out in the sun the heat will make the purple pop a lot faster and brighter
Jamie , What speed are you using with the EWT's on the prepared blank?. the finished piece looks great
I usually go about 1800-2000 sometimes faster
🔥🔥
Thanks buddy
QQ JP what was in the spray can. WOW the bowl looks Amazing
Lol 😂 conversation starter
@@jpwoodwork Thank you for the information 🤣🤣 , I hope you are keeping well
@@SilverBack. been better mate but I’m not one to complain
@@jpwoodwork I hope things get better for you, Take care
@@SilverBack. Thanks mate
I'm bad with technical names but is the round carbide better/easier for bowls? I've struggled with other tools so stopped
it is for hollowing and shaping the outside yes, i tend to only use the square one for flattening off surfaces
@@jpwoodwork Are you using the square cutter or the R2 cutter on the outside?
@@davidhjortnaes2000 the square one
Beautiful bowl! Well done and take care. 🙂
Thanks, you too!
