Hello friends. I made this video so that we can have good conversations in the comments! Please let me know your thoughts, especially if you've had experinece(s) with authoritarian leaders and this type of theology.
Growing up IBLP adjacent, nothing they talked about in the documentary was surprising to me other than the part towards the end when they talked about the militia group (I can't remember what they call it) and the Joshua generation. The abuse that happens within the church and that has been brushed away isn't a surprise to any of us who grew up in religious households that we later escaped. Bill Gothard was evil and should have never been given his platform, and there are dozens of other evil men who have had their pwn pulpits over the years. But the IBLP and similar conservative Christian groups will be the downfall of this country as we know it. The US isn't perfect (so far from it) but religious leaders are actively trying to take our rights away in the name of religion and "morals". The idea that these people are grooming their young men to overtake the US government is terrifying and because of the elite nature of our government, I'm not sure there is anything we can do to stop it.

I get you. It is hard to see so many different versions of the IBLP and even versions of Gothard all over the world.

I started to watch it and couldn’t go on. I grew up evangelical and it was too hard for me to watch so I quit.
I totally understand...it was a hard watch. I made myself watch the whole thing..I needed to know how it ended, hehe
