    This isn't an album you can appreciate by just listening to it once. It kinda has to grow into you, and that will take you more than a couple listenings. Although it is a controversial album that's going to deceive long time [rock] fans of the Arctic Monkeys, it will definitely be appreciated by open-minded people that listened to it without any expectations whatsoever.

      It was quite hard to get from their previous albums, even from AM. But now I just feel like this is one of their best, not intended to be catchy and pop-py like AM, but much better. Prefer TBHC over Humbug and Suck It and See too.

    I honestly think this album wasn't made for a young audience, it seems like this album is geared towards getting older and looking back at how simple things were, a lot of the lyrics are about the past sung in this ballroom style that feels eerily empty.

      I like the song, but from that one snippet of the instrumental electric piano version (from BBC special credits) I feel like it could've been done much better and much more fitting for the album. The harmonies are great, but the fuzzy guitar, while cool, kind of gives it a wrong vibe IMO. And the whole thing kind of hides the beautiful chords and shows just the riff chord progression, which is kinda toxic-sounding.
      The end is one of the best moments on this glorious album tho.

    Fun fact: "Tranquility Base" was the name of a lunar land site to establish a lunar base back during the Apollo era. What I love about that fact is how all the songs have a lightweight sound to them, as well as all the parallel subjects between that era and the ones talked about during this era. The music has a completely different sound from their other albums, having more of a jazzy tone much like what was more popular in that era.

    Golden trunks is great imo, I like how the harsher sound and greater energy breaks up the low-fi vibe which as you said can feel a bit monotonous

    im literally so glad i found this video ; your reactions sum up my last couple braincells while listening to this album (loved it). i never thought a music reaction would be interesting, but you made it really fun and intriguing to watch. would absolutely love to see you review The Last Shadow Puppet’s album Everything Youve Come to Expect!! its a side band of the lead of arctic monkeys and one of his best friends. if you liked tranquility base hotel and casino im pretty sure you would enjoy the EYCTE album :)

      saw an interview where he said it was overheard conversations. four out of five was from that. pretty close. astute observation sir.

      @francescofadda1007 2 года назад

      My interpretation is the following:
      I just wanted to be one of The Strokes (he's talking about what made him want to make music)
      Now look at the mess you made me make (now look at how far we have come)
      Hitchhiking with a monogrammed suitcase (I think for monogrammed he means the monogram "AM" as he now has all the experience that he gained in all these years)
      Miles away from any half-useful imaginary highway (I think the highway is a metaphor for all the popular genres at the moment, and this last album is certainly very far from them)

    I just stumbled upon this video again and lemme just say that I literally still listen to every single song on this album to this day. I was like what the heck is this at first like everyone else but then gave it another chance. Everytime I hear any song from the album pop up I just end up playing all of TBHC because it’s that good 😭

I gotta say though, if you enjoyed this album as much as you say you did I'd totally reccomend Saint Motel. They're on a similar ground in terms of style but a little more up beat. Looking forward to new stuff!

    Didn’t expect you to like it at all, but i am so glad you did! Personally i find it better and more cohesive than AM, and especially more interesting lyrically. Although the songs are a bit similar and slow, the composition is great, the vibe is entrancing and there are so many interesting details. Perfect length too, and the bass awesome.
