"Suck it and See" is the 2011 album from rock behemoth Arctic Monkeys. It is the last album I have to react to from this band, and wow am I excited to not have to listen to any more Arctic Monkeys. No Cap

When I was into arctic monkeys I had a playlist called “suck it and see fixed”, that was the entire album but without brick by brick

It reminds me of what I did with Bloc Party's Four. It's one of my favourite albums & then it just get's to We're Not Good People & I hate how out of place it is, especially being placed at the end instead of The Healing.

You enjoy it after a few tries, but I think most people don't like this album bc is not that epic as the others. They never play the songs in concerts, so everyone just ignore it
I think a popular consensus is that the songwriting is just average. No bad songs, but nothing spectacular
What makes Suck it and See likable for me is the simplicity. It's a simple rock album that feels a little summery in a way. Like it's something you can put on while driving during the summer, with the windows down, when you don't have to think about it too much, so the lyrics really don't matter when the writing is weak. That might just be me, though.
brad would be so dissappointed when he discovers that the b-sides are better than the actual albums

YES! You finally said what I, an Arctic Monkeys fan-boy, think. Alex Turner is incredibly talented, but that means he doesnt really try on a lot of songs. That's why I loved TBH+C so much, cause it felt like he was finally back to actually trying to write lyrics! Also, yes, the lyrics have mostly been this good, but you're just finally getting them I guess.

Him claiming Alex Turner’s lyrics “pretentious” is wrong. Alex grew up reading and writing poetry when he was younger and thats a fact. If you do research on him and the band you can find it. Thats why most of his lyrics are like him telling a story.
@@YSLFLACKO I'm quite a big fan of Arctic Monkeys and even I'll agree his lyrics are pretentious. Whether he studied poetry at a young age or not, the 'stories' he tells are often boring, ambiguous or even just nonsensical. I love TBHAC and WPSIA but the middle albums are so mediocre, mostly in part due to Alex's boring songwriting.

There needs to be distinction between being artistically ambiguous and pretentious...I think its fair some of his lyrics are pretentious, as they are often mache'd nonsensical phrases that assume the listener will just accept it as being thematically relevant to the song

This Is the only Arctic Monkeys i have on CD(bought in the year of release). I dont regret me buying the album but I wish I had grabbed Whatever people Say I Am instead.

I don't. For me, it's probably 2013. I actually do like Brick By Brick, even though it's probably the track I like the least of Suck it and See, which is very different from not liking it. This album is mad underrated.

@@hannahborges682 haha, I don't listen to it either. But they do have some very solid b-sides. One of my favourite tracks of them is a b-side: Catapult.

I won't say it's the worst, since I really like them all and it seems like I'm giving it a bad conotation; like I said: the less better. But I respect your opinion. :) It's as valid as mine!

Unironically though, it is my favourite Arctic Monkeys album. It's basically all love ballads but with some interesting intricacies. In a way it reminds me of the smiths, in that the guitars and bass synergises with their complementing melody lines. I might also be biased as a bassist because I love the bass lines on this album, tasty and groovy.
This album took about a year to grow on me. And I have an unconditional love for arctic monkeys
Realizing Hellcat is a top tier SIAS song and Alex Turner song is general … a man of culture

Brad, if you are a smart person, i think one day you will realize how good Turner is as a songwriter. Songs in a more traditional way are not boring, especially if the songwriter is really good at this art, which is the Turner's case. Futhermore, he's a great lyricist, because he can write about usual song themes like love, break-ups, sexual desire, etc. in figurative and innovative ways. He dominates the art of writing beautiful pop songs, not being predictable. In fact, he's very insightful.

Ngl I love Arctic monkeys but the more music I listen to, the more plain and boring I find Alex’s songwriting. I find most of this album and a lot of their songs to be so derivative and devoid of innovation. He’s great at writing lyrics that sound good but I don’t think they ever mean that much either

to me Suck It and See sounds too bloated and some songs feel too hollow, Humbug is more concise and has a darker feel to it; I like that about it

honestly my favorite arctic monkeys album. I couldn’t decide whether I not I like the first or second half better but I would definitely say the first half because it has my two favorite songs, the hellcat spangled shalala and she’s thunderstorms. I’m really glad you liked it and didn’t think it was completely boring. I love this album mostly because of the lyrics.

I've never in my life found AC/DC interesting and I like green day's early days but recent albums are not appealing to me (RevRad being the exception)

I absolutely loved the new ACDC record. But I get why people wouldn't. ACDC have been making the same album (minus 2) for almost 50 years. Some people (like me) don't mind that as we don't really get sick of the sound, but other people can find it either boring and tiring or uncreative and staying in your comfort zone.
To be fair, he said modern green day, he’s heard some pre American Idiot stuff and said he enjoyed it
