That scream at the end of Climbing Up The Walls is like my favourite moment of the album. It shakes me every time, it’s just so intense. Incredible album
I really love the 2nd last scream though, it feels so muffled like you are fucking loaded with stress but still can't cry for help (damn that was deep)
The moment No Surprises hit me is when I was listenig to it with my mom who's not really good at English I told her that it's about someone deciding to leave the engine on and die because they can't take their problems anymore and she told me "Shit I liked cause it sounds a lullaby" and that made me realize how smart the song really is
It's about not living a boring life. It still is a sarcastic lullaby, but it's sarcastic because that quiet perfect life with no alarms and no surprises isn't fulfilling, and really the message of the song is DON'T be lulled to sleep and shut the world out. Accept that there's going to be some alarming and surprising shit, that perfect little suburban life is only so real. Get out there and live a little

Not enough is said about Climbing up the walls, to me its almost the most important song on the album, everything that comes before it builds up to it, all the anxiety, all the fear it just explodes. No surprises is the respite, the clarity, the epiphany that beauty can be found in simplicity and everyone can find it on the other side of their fear and their anxiety. Lucky is the acknowledgment that though Thoms fears of the worst outcome possible in the first few tracks are valid, there is always hope that you can recover or maybe you may just be lucky enough to survive what happens to you. The Tourist is the acknowledgment by Thom that he has been observing himself this whole album on his journey to better understanding himself.
Electioneering is not only a great song but it’s NECESSARY in the tracklisting. Imagine if Climbing Up The Walls came right after Fitter Happier? Depression vibes would be overwhelming. As it is it’s perfectly balanced. And don’t try to change the tracklisting to make electioneering not being there work, the tracklisting is the most well chosen shit of any album I’ve ever heard.
AMAZING Thom yorke singing Brad 16:46 let yourself free, Lucky is my favourite off the album and The Tourist even better Singing 19:42 love your Thom Yorke mouth movement
No surprises being described as “asking for peace” and even just accepting death is so accurate. The song itself is just so heart wrenching in its sound. It’s begging. It’s sobbing and wailing. It’s a final cry and you can feel it.
I find No Surprises to be Thom Yorke's acceptance of the monotony of everyday life. After the exhausting emotions he dealt with on the first half of OK Computer, Thom Yorke wishes for a life where he doesn't have to go through that again.
I always took the bell at the end of The Tourist to be the tourist ringing a “ring for service” bell at wherever thom sees them. almost as if no matter what journey thom goes through or lessons he learns throughout the album, he can’t convince anyone else to listen to him. the tourist doesn’t slow down, but stays impatient. cramming that amount of failure and storytelling into one bell ring is incredible

Love your reactions and if you get time get the Kid A Mensia exhibition from epic games. It’s a trip. Keep making videos!
Usually the case with most Radiohead songs for me, adored them without knowing wtf he was saying then would search the lyrics and elevate the song even more
I always thought some fans are snobby towards Electioneering just because it doesn't "fit" musically with the rest of the songs on the album which are moody, paranoid and slower paced and generally feel more polished. It's like "route-one" music, like going back to basics (whatever basics means). The gist of the criticism I've seen over the years boils down to: "It doesn't flow with the album, maaan. The flow doesn't fit, maan". I think the album really benefits from a song that's rougher and more energetic to give the listener a bit of a break from the gloomy, paranoid atmosphere and liven things up, especially since it follows Fitter Happier in the track listing.
When I hear The Tourist I imagine the lyrics are directed at Thom in the past or someone like him who he sees heading down a dangerous path that might lead to Airbag: the beginning of it all. "Slow down" (you might end up in a car crash etc..). Almost like this album could loop over and over again.
Climbing up the walls reminds me of your reaction to currents, him feeling dissapointed or not as into some of the songs and then realizing the singer/band intended for that to happen

Fitter Happier is great, i like the uncanny feeling of a text to speech bot talking about human improvement, it almost feels as if it was laughing at us.
This is one of several exquisite albums that came out in 1997 and cemented it as one of the great years of music. Others include Yo La Tengo's "I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One", Stereolab's "Dots and Loops", Björk's "Homogenic", Spiritualized's "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space", Mogwai's "Young Team", Helium's "The Magic City", Amon Tobin's "Bricolage"...
I haven’t seen this classic t-shirt since your To Be Kind ranking, slow down Brad XD Seriously though, what a fun reaction, I’m so excited to eventually see your thoughts on Kid A!
I do like Fitter Happier, it fits well in the context of the album, and I do love the message about robotic human-like progress, since I do have experiences with disgusting antibiotics and having to depend on them to survive. I'm in a better place now, and OK Computer is one hell of a bop. Favorite songs are Subterranean Homesick Alien, Exit Music (For A Film), Climbing Up The Walls [because of that awesome second half], Paranoid Android, and No Surprises. 95/100. Probably will make it a 100 on AOTY someday. A close friend of mine, maybe even a guy I have conflicted, mixed feelings with, he loves No Surprises. I mean, that makes me like him just 1% more.
When you listen to kid a I think you should split it into two parts but listen to the album from start to finish, the whole thing is an experience which I feel could be hurt by not listening to it all in one sitting
theory time airbag is not only the sort of intro to the album but could also be considered an outro or you could just consider the album to be this kind of loop type thingy the album ends with a song about going through life too fast and needing to slow down and enjoy life and airbag is about an accident that made thom feel reborn and finding a new appreciation for life and the little things this could mean airbag is that sort of real happy ending to this album and that may be why you get that sort of happy feeling from it which is so different from the rest of the albums grim and sad topics not saying this is at all true just thought it was a cool and neat little theory
I think on top of everything you’ve heaped upon this album, all of with which I completely concur, there’s a certain yet indefinite shine on it that I really have a hard time finding words to describe. That quality alone carries a certain degree of excellence; when combined with everything you mentioned here - the story, the pristine sound and production, the settings and moods the instruments evoke, the consistent degree of high quality songwriting yet still easily accessible material, the fact it still feels new and unwrapped 24 years later - when you have all that present and yet there is still something about it you just can’t put your finger on, that is when it becomes an absolute beast of material that will be hard for anyone to match. Ever. In my opinion of course.
electioneering was the first song off the album i liked, even as someone who really didn’t get it or was paying attention to the album at all. it was the song that convinced me to give the album a thoughtful relisten after having the song on my playlist for like a week. now it’s one of my fav albums lol
Fitter, Happier always felt like a mournful succumbing to the norms and standards of society. Yes, it is technically improving your life, but do you feel like you're improved? Do you FEEL fitter, happier?
You get it…electioneering slaps you so hard. The guitar wrenching fills me with so much joy. It’s as heavy as a guitar gets. No surprises! Lucky is orgasm in slow motion. You fold in on yourself with this record.
I think it’s cyclical, “idiot, slow down” to me refers to him recklessly speeding in a car before he crashes, the “airbag saves his life” and the story starts again
You could interpret it as if he puts himself down in situations where he feels powerful only to realize later on that the world doesn't go his way

Damn, he got me in the first half of climbing up the walls ngl. I would probably put that song in my top 10 radiohead songs, like, you have Thom Yorke fucking screaming at the end what else do you want man.
Listening to this album with headphones is a whole other experience
I love your love for this album.
Yo can't wait for Pinkerton after this
my favorite radiohead album
@@Seab3551 i thought it was The Weezar's album
@lemonkirb no you numbnuts it a Twenty One Pilots album
@@braedenlemasters9058 No it's an album by imagine dragons
Electioneering is so freeaking nasty!!...love the channel, mate!
Oh it's real this time
I legitimately think Brad could be a killer vocalist if he wanted to.
"No Alarms" is subdued dispair, a magnificent Radiohead track.
Also nice to see someone really enjoying "The Tourist"! 😎
Pure joy watching you enjoy this album man, just lovely
Fitter Happier is great, i like the uncanny feeling of a text to speech bot talking about human improvement, it almost feels as if it was laughing at us.
Brad was vibing so hard during "cLiMbInG Up The Walls" that his hair became one with the background
Can't forget Sugar Ray's critical masterpiece "Floored".
Bro, awesome content. I can't wait for Kid A and Amnesiac, etc. I fucking love seeing you react to my favorite band. This is great.
CUTW is a great slow burn, and that climax...
glad that you agree that Electioneering is a fucking banger
Crawling Up The Walls is My favorite
I haven’t seen this classic t-shirt since your To Be Kind ranking, slow down Brad XD
Seriously though, what a fun reaction, I’m so excited to eventually see your thoughts on Kid A!
Brad, would ever react to the great Pink Floyd albums? Dark side of the moon, wish you were here, animals, and the wall? Some of the best albums ever
And Meddle! Would’ve love to see his reaction to Echoes
Remember when Brad was taking the piss out of this album and then he posted on his second channel that he finally got the album
theory time
airbag is not only the sort of intro to the album but could also be considered an outro or you could just consider the album to be this kind of loop type thingy
the album ends with a song about going through life too fast and needing to slow down and enjoy life and airbag is about an accident that made thom feel reborn and finding a new appreciation for life and the little things this could mean airbag is that sort of real happy ending to this album and that may be why you get that sort of happy feeling from it which is so different from the rest of the albums grim and sad topics
not saying this is at all true just thought it was a cool and neat little theory
I wanna see in rainbows reaction so fucking hard, but sadly i will see it only in half a year
Brad singing no surprises might be the only time I've heard him singing without autotune
I can't wait till you cover TKOL
That will be class
electioneering was the first song off the album i liked, even as someone who really didn’t get it or was paying attention to the album at all. it was the song that convinced me to give the album a thoughtful relisten after having the song on my playlist for like a week. now it’s one of my fav albums lol
Brad. You really help me to enjoy music 1000000 times more than I would have otherwise.
You have no idea how helpful this video was for my first experience of the album it helped me see the full picture
I agree with your opinion on electioneering so much. It's my favorite from ok computer tbh
24:25 one can say it's a jigsaw falling into place...
No Surprises is one of the most beautiful songs ever written
Fitter, Happier always felt like a mournful succumbing to the norms and standards of society. Yes, it is technically improving your life, but do you feel like you're improved? Do you FEEL fitter, happier?
"pig in a cage on antibiotic" is definitely a commentary on meat consumption and food industry
i love your opinion on electioneering, that guitar is perfect, as always, i love the video
Thanks gosh. I've been waiting forever for this moment
You get it…electioneering slaps you so hard. The guitar wrenching fills me with so much joy. It’s as heavy as a guitar gets.
No surprises! Lucky is orgasm in slow motion. You fold in on yourself with this record.
Goddamn would I love to hear you doing this to King Gizzard's Discography
Watching you sing lucky tells me how
I look in my car every day driving to work doing my Best “glorious day”
"So.. you like the album then?"
Subbed.
