I remember one time I was listening to The Bends on the bus and when it got to Fake Plastic Trees, I decided to pay closer attention to the lyrics. The Bends is such a great album, not my favourite by the band overall but one of my all time favourite albums in general. Cannot wait to see you cover more Radiohead Brad!
What's interesting about Brad finding the songs on this album as being more, um, full (for lack of better terms) than Pablo Honey is that a lot of songs from The Bends were already being performed during the previous era. Songs like The Bends, Fake Plastic Trees, and Street Spirit were staples of the Pablo Honey tour. High & Dry was even initially recorded in 1992 for inclusion on Pablo Honey.

Fake Plastic Trees was the hardest song to record in The Bends, just because of how perfect it sound, with just Thom and his acoustic guitar. They didn't know what else to add without ruining the feeling that the song encapsulates. Yet, they still deliver. What a track from a legendary album.
There's something interesting to say about the recording of each of these tracks. Here we go FACTS: 1. Planet Telex: Thom was very drunk and lying on the floor while recording the vocals on this track. And listen again and it will stand out. 2. The Bends: The sounds at the beginning were an instructor commanding a group of kids loudly. When Thom heard it he grabbed something to record it with (Likely a four-track recorder) Other than that, the track is two different takes spliced together. The split happens when it gets to the "lying on the floor with a drip-feed on". 3.High and Dry: The tracks that made it onto the album were originally a demo recording around the Pablo Honey time. Then tracks were recorded added later. 4: Fake Plastic Trees: The band did the vocal take after seeing Jeff Buckley in concert, that same night, and when Thom heard the vocal he was moved to tears. 5: Bones: Sorry I don't have any for this one. 6: Nice Dream: The band each played acoustic guitars on this one. I believe it was outside on a patio, but nonetheless, the layered acoustic track's sound came from having so many guitars. That's it for now, ill do the rest in part 2.
Planet Telex - 3:02 The Bends - 8:50 High And Dry - 12:47 The Cooler High And Dry - 13:00 Fake Plastic Trees - 18:30 Bones - 23:48 (Nice Dream) - 25:33

Yes I bought it after I heard Creep on MTV and I used to listen to it a lot it really is not that bad of an album it is just the rest of their albums are so stellar and PH just gets a bad rap.
Unpopular opinion: the bends is the 2nd best radiohead album
Also, this video is amazing. The editing is so good, and your reactions were great. I forgot how much I loved seeing Brad actually enjoy an album.
What's ur Radiohead's best album?
@@Bobby_LSerunai For me it changes like every week lol, but right now I'd have to say Kid A
Ur opinion is wrong 1.Ok computer 2.kid A 3.in rainbows
3rd for me but yeah I feel you. I just dont prefer the more grunge-y tracks scattered throughout but the highs of the album are ridiculous.
@@Bobby_LSerunai In rainbows
brad.
you are so swag rn.
love you :)
Planet Telex is pretty underrated
About the fade-out though, ok....but that melody line is beautiful!
Is the I got drip/creep remix dropping soon? I unironically like it
brad said the n word 😿
One of the best albums period. Easy top 10 right now for me.
And also, your taste in music, the incorporation of memes and humor into the video, and the quality... I'm definitely subbing
fake plastic trees is such a good song… one of my favorite songs ever.
I listened to this, this morning after a year and it made me tear up. Beautiful
This constant Brad content is one of the best parts of 2021🙏
Fake Plastic Trees was the hardest song to record in The Bends, just because of how perfect it sound, with just Thom and his acoustic guitar. They didn't know what else to add without ruining the feeling that the song encapsulates. Yet, they still deliver. What a track from a legendary album.
high and dry x let down is straight fire thank you brad
There's something interesting to say about the recording of each of these tracks.
Here we go
FACTS:
The vocals for planet telex were also done at 2am if I remember correctly
That little Spin Doctors reference at 09:14 I see what you did there
I instantly fell in love with your channel
Planet Telex and Street Spirit are so good, this is my second favorite RH album
If you go through all of these albums, this is going to be unreal from Brad! I’m here for it!
I love how emotional you get. I love it! Can’t wait fue part 2
Planet Telex - 3:02
The Bends - 8:50
High And Dry - 12:47
The Cooler High And Dry - 13:00
Fake Plastic Trees - 18:30
Bones - 23:48
(Nice Dream) - 25:33
you actually tripped me into thinkin you were gonna have meme songs instead of the real ones lol
In May we had a Top overdose, and now a Radiohead overdose, two of my favourites bands, thank you Bradley
Great video man, I'm so hyped for the next ones
Gotta love the existential crisis Radiohead brings on
I've been saying "A town full of Robert Plants" for years and no one ever knows what I'm talking about...
Also Fake Plastic Trees is always among my personal Top 3 Radiohead songs, such a good song to belt out whether I'm driving in my car or crying in the shower. Also also, I agree- the first half of this album is very large, in your face, and assmospheric.
