  • In this video I show you ideas about how you can make simple, but beautiful photo’s with feathers at home. The feathers doesn’t have to have intricate patterns and colors to provide a nice endresult.
Although I use macro extension tubes, if you don’t have a macro lens, you can crop the photo’s later in editing, or you can use your smartphone. Many smartphones these days can focus really close to your subject.
    Here are the timestamps!
    0:00 Intro
0:14 Prepare the feather and set up the camera
0:59 Use a light for special effects
1:41 Apply waterdroplets with a spraybottle
    2:16 Try out different compositions
3:12 Editing the photo’s in Photoshop
4:45 Slideshow of the feather photo’s

Excellent work. Were any of these images photo-stacked?

    • @AppelmoesArtandPhotography
      @AppelmoesArtandPhotography  3 года назад

Thank you very much! No they weren’t. To make the most out of my depth of field, I tried to held the camera as parallel as possible to the feather. At the time I made that video, my computer couldn’t handle focus stacking. It’s something I want to get into in the future, but these are single images. Thanks for watching, have a nice day!

Thank you! Yes, you’re right, I wasn’t able to do the voice over myself, so I experimented with a text to voice generator. It was one of my early RUclips video’s and I don’t use that anymore. Are you gonna try this photography yourself?
Thanks for watching, have a nice day!

I'm probably just being too "picky", but you stated, "I turn up the shutter speed for more light on my Live View." (at 0:42)
That sounds like you are going to a higher shutter speed (e.g., 1/30 of a second to 1/500 of a second) to allow more light into the camera in order to focus on your subject. I am a new photographer, but as I understand it, "turning up" your shutter speed allows less light into the camera to focus, not more?
In any event, I just thought this was a strange statement when I heard it and wanted to point it out to you. Otherwise a great video!

Hi! You are absolutely right. A higher shutter speed allows less light into the camera. What I probably ment to say was increasing the time of the shutter speed so more light was coming in. Back then it probably sounded good in my head 😅 English is not my first language so there might be more things I say incorrectly. But thanks for pointing it out. Also thanks for watching, I hope it inspires you to try it yourself. Have a nice day!

Good god all mighty, did you have to use voice to text? That robotic voice drives everyone crazy including my dogs. Good macro shots though

Haha! Yes it isn’t ideal, but I wasn’t able to do the voice over myself. I’m still learning how to make good YT content. I don’t think I’ll use a voice generator in the future again, so I hope I don’t scare people away with this video. Thanks for watching, have a nice day!

@@AppelmoesArtandPhotography Its ok. What do you think of the Artisan7 60 MM macro lens. I'm shooting with the Canon M50. I really like it for the price.

@@mistervacation23 I don’t know, I have a Canon EOS series camera. At the moment, I use macro extension tubes. One day I want a dedicated macro lens, but for now, this works fine ☺️
