Thanks for the video and all the good hints that you’re giving out to help people. I will probably take my toy shop and have them do it.God bless you!!! love the video I just liked it and hit the subscribe button and keep them coming🎉
These upper control arms fit pretty much any size lift, you just gotta trim the bumpstops, I have a 9 inch lift and I have these uppers and my angles are perfect. Even got friends with up to 12 inches of lift that are running these uppers no problem
Doing this same setup to my 2014, I’m a bit of a DYI mechanic. Great points & hints here, I’ll be making sure those sleeves go in now 😂 I’m also not spending the $2,100 I was quoted to put ball joints on when I can do it myself.
I just installed a 3.5" lift on my 17 silverado and put these control arms on as well. Got an alignment the same day, which was two days ago. I looked today and both boots are already ripped...
@@chrispy6664 I had to go through the same process, kinda sucked doing the job twice but now we know! The guy I got on customer service acted like my dad some, he had a disappointed tone when I told him I didn't put the sleeves in, but I thought it was kinda humorous lol still got sent replacements for free!
The issue with the bolt not clearing the shock is much easer to do that you've shown here. Place jack underneath lower control arm and jack it up, thats how i did mine and worked great.
@@ShooterMcveach yeah, I mean he (me) has never done that before until then, so I just had nothing else left to it but to do it. Knowledge for next time
looks good. Did you do the rough country upper control arms twice to repair the boot mishap? If so, you'll need to get your alignment checked. Also, you may want to tap down and file smooth the top of the knuckle where the boot rests. The part that got chewed up when you were hitting it with the hammer.
Yeah I had to get another set of RC UCA’s due to my mess up. And definitely, I got another alignment immediately after. I filed it down some but only with some 150 grit sandpaper lol, I don’t have an actual file but for sure could get one!
The same thing happened to me, I just put the same ones on a 2018 Silverado, the boot on both of them broke. Upper control arm, where can I buy the ball joints?
I had to go back to Rough Country and get another set. I told them what happened and they gave me another free set, super cool customer service. As long as you're nice about it lol
I think they come with some grease, but not much. I did a few pumps and left it at that. If anything excess grease will “squeeze” out of the bottom of the boot. I go down there every couple months to check all the bolts and I haven’t had anything leak out, so I think you’ll be good with a few pumps!
Bro I just installed these in my truck, I want to show you the angle these sit on my truck and I want you to tell me if you think it is good or not? If yeah let me get that email bro!
@@hunterrwiilson yeah but are they parking lot princesses or are they used like a truck? If the RC are comparable in strength I’d rather run the RC. I’m not using my truck as a race truck or nothing but I don’t baby it
@@kylewest100 we'll never know. But I, personally, wouldn't opt for the cheaper option with the way it sounds that you use your truck. I have some similar plans with this truck in the future to run some long travel, and I'll just get the whole deal and not try to be too cheap on some things.
Yes! If you stayed towards the end of the video I showed what happens if you don't use them. The ball joint doesn't "seat" and moves around whilst driving. So, it completely shredded the boot and destroyed the ball joint. Had to get another pair and do this process twice. Not fun lol, hope this helps! God bless
@@hunterrwiilson awesome thanks for the quick response and yeah, I thought so. I did install mines. It’s just they just look kind of funny but I’m glad I did and didn’t have to do it twice 😮💨
@@djchopo93 No worries! You just have to insert the sleeves and use a small dead blow, or hammer, to insure they're seated in the knuckle properly. If not, they'll probably still seat with the weight of the truck, but it's just a safe bet when doing it the way I described.

i ripped the boot on mine too lol i got these with my 3.5 lift been 6 months now i love em! truck looks awesome.
You have to replace yours too?

@hunterrwiilson you live and learn my friend. Does it come with new ball joint sleeves? Going to order and install on my 06 Sierra
@@adubbz23 definitely do. But life would be boring without trials. The kit did. I would verify on RC page first to see if they’re good for your ‘06
hey man , i love your videos fun to watch!! and you only have a 2.5 level in front with 305 ?
Thanks Will! Means a lot. And yeah just a 2.5” level and my wheels are 305/70/17
I have a 95 silverado with the torsion bars turned up. Sits real nice but would like to replace my UCA. Wonder if these would work right.
Check RC’s website and see!
Your 2014 GMC sierra have aluminum stock UCA, it has bigger ball joint.
That's why you need these sleeves.
Makes sense
