If they would just say 2000 watts at 1 ohm, for $150, that seems reasonable. 20 years ago I was paying $2000 for 2000 watts.

I had a few Phoenix gold amps back in the day that were bad ass at a dollar a watt. But none of them can compare to the shit now for a lot cheaper. I have a 8,000 watt amp that is unbelievably powerful my gain is all the way off and its still too much.

So BigD...you've been in this business long enough to know that just 10 years ago an amp which could drive a sub 1 ohm load would have been considered state-of-the-art. So yes. They lied about it's capabilities. Pretty typical in the car audio world. But within it's capabilities...say 500 watts into 4 ohms...it's a pretty decent performer.

I was actually going to suggest this when I saw it on ebay. Those filter caps look very similar to JL / filter caps. YEC green and gold 2200uF@25V
Man I was just looking this amp up trying to multiply 14.4× however many fuses in and amps the fuses had but the fuses look purple in the picture love your videos brother
Back in the 90’s I’d take it for $150 for the amount of power it puts out and would of have had a lot more money in my pocket compared what I spent back then.

Great video as always Big D. The 3x40 fuses gave it away for me as about 1200 real watts, but you are right, some people have no idea how much of a lie 8k is from this amp. Having said that, it did have your Savard Hi-Q's bumpin! 1200 watts for $140 isn't terrible, I just wish they were honest about it

I have a pioneer 1000w 2 channel running 2-6.5 " kenwood, and 2-6x9 jbl's. I have one 12" jbl 1000 watt sub i built box for.have the new kenwood touch screen deck. (All in my work van) YA BOY!
Well after seeing the rms at over 1k & finding this amp for $127 incl taxes. Got it for my kid for Xmas. Haven't had time to install but after seeing the do it bump tho! 😁 I'm he's gonna be happy with it. Finally got it hooked up & it bumps

You know where I stand too. I feel the same as you. This amp at that price point is a pretty good deal but since they blatantly lied about it’s ratings I’m sure it’s not going to last very long.
New amp videos are great but im here for old amp dynos. Id like to see builds of new subs but with similiar wattage on the dyno old vs new amps with an spl test
Hey Big D you are one of the few guys I ever see wearing hearing protection, what do you use? I have some hearing damage and I want to still be able to enjoy low powerful bass without furthering damage. I know some people will say clean bass wont damage your ears but it is what it is and I have tinnitus now
Any chance you could test the new Rockford Fosgate Prime R2 1200-1d? Dying to see what changed and if they cheaped out in order to add clipping light. They now recommend a 200 amp fuse.

I agree 100% it should be ILLEGAL to sell an amp with a rating like this. I could understand if it output even half of the rated power at 1ohm but certified it puts out way less than 20% of it's advertised power at 1ohm! That's criminal if you ask me.
I'm sure some will say "well it puts out about 2k dynamic at 1ohm and it's cheap!" but that's still only 25% of the supposedly 8k it's being sold as! What if you bought a computer, even a cheap one and the CPU in it only ran at 15-25% of it's rated speed at a maximum? You'd return it as defective! But it's supposed to be OK in the car amp world? I think not!

Could you test the PA EG4-1500 class A/B series 4 channel amps? I know you tested the 10k version which had terrible efficiency for a class D but their EG4s have an appropriate fuse size for the power ratings. It seemed to have good reviews for the price. Thanks.

Hi Big D! Please, could you test any MB Quart amp? There are almost no dynos out there.
I have an old Profile Clarus CL1200, nothing crazy powerful always worked well but it would be really cool to actually see what it was putting out, I got it before I was even old enough to drive, ya know build the system before you can drive or have a car, 14yo logic. Says 300x2 4ohm and 450x2 2ohm or 950 bridged, I kind of feel it may actually be doing that but would love to dyno it.
Remember, IR temp method will always show a lower temp on brighter colored or reflective surfaces (like brushed aluminum). Actual is likely higher.

Rockville Car Audio gives you the system on how to rate these mega amps. It is to divide its max rating by four, to get its max power output.
Definitely agree the nob is cheap asf but I ordered the p8000 and the 7000 and honestly the 7000 pushes my Rockville’s 3 times as hard! Do a review on the 7k amp by audio bank there’s something hidden in it that produces an extreme output

That is actually a very good idea. It would be a welcome addition to the specs you give for every amp at the beginning of the video.
That way we can figure out price per lb
What's the sense in that? It's not going to tell you much other than how thick one manufacturer makes the back plate vs. other manufacturers back plate. I figured that out once when comparing a Soundstream amp vs. Hifonics. The Soundstream was quite a bit heavier and found out when removing the plate to see inside, the plate was extremely heavy vs. Hifonics paper thin plate.
No point on weighing them. Cheap amps are notorious for having thick casings and very thin on the "guts"

Any chance you could test the Pioneer GM-D9705?
It's rated down to 2 ohm, but I've read that it can run down to .7 ohms and put out massive amounts of power
It's such a small amp, and the efficiency and power output just seems too good to be true...
