I hope one day Konami will have the decency to release a new edition of MGS4 for current consoles, along with the rest of MGS, and add this camera mode to MGS2 as I'd like to play it like that, great video friend.
one can hope but we all know it will never happen. they remastered mgs3 just to put it on a fkn pachinko machine. this mod will be your best chance of playing mgs2 with new camera. they really need to remaster MGS1 and port mgs4

I've been saying this same exact thing for years! I dunno why kocknami keeps there catalog locked away in older consoles. I have a PS3 to play my copy of MGS4, and can emulate on PC, but not everybody can do this! The Legacy Collection should def have released at least on PS4/XB. There is hope tho, since the news of the Silent Hill remakes is actually happening. Maybe MGS can be next...
@@johnparungao6844 Yes exactly, many gamers still haven't been able to play MGS4 because the game is locked on Ps3, Konami has been lazy and hasn't even released a new collection of MGS including MGS4 for current consoles, I hope one day Konami will.
I read that Kojima had to choose not to release 4 on the 360 because of it's DVD disc limits. Then as development went on, the game was programmed with all the deficiencies and quirks of the PS3, probably running with spaghetti codes holding it together so that it will be impossible for porting to be done easily, if at all. I did read that at one point it ran on a 360 dev kit but that was quite early I think, so by now the ball is in Konami's court whether to go ahead and start from scratch to rebuild it for new consoles.
I’m thankful I own this because I bought the essential collection when I was originally trying to buy MGS1. Best video game series ever made with the best replay value. Easily timeless
Tactical espionage action at it's finest. This genre of gaming is long overdue for a new metal gear.
With how konami handles things espcially with survive i’d rather not have another mediocre entry

Yeah, even Phantom Pain is enjoyable after you get good and into the gameplay. You can tell where the story got a bit recycled though when the kicked Kojima off the project - but still pretty epic. A 6th with an epic story and same gameplay freedom would be AMAAAAAZING, THAT RIGHT THERE IS WHY THEY CALL YOU THE BOSS

I think its a nice feature but since we were always able to go into first person mode, I feel like its something ive already seen. Sure, i can now move freely but ive seen all the angles already cuz of First person view and countless of hours playing like this.

Incredible work by the developer of this mod. Looks fantastic. Don't tell me Konami couldn't have done this for Substance.
It's a bit disorienting but I think this feature would be instrumental in reducing reliance on the radar. You simply can't see that well with the fixed camera angle, making Snake Tales much more difficult.
Yeah the emvironment not build for this camera system.
If Konami do a remake project for MGS2, i think we will get what some player felt when playing Twin Snakes (the game felt far easier to beat)

The Camera is the reason why I could never get behind MGS beyond the first version on PS1.
For some reason the subsequent releases I tried always have the issue of not showing me well where I'm going.

Great gameplay as always! Big question though, did you capture this gameplay with a gamepad or keyboard and mouse input? I've never been able to play MGS 2 on PC properly, and you seem to be playing it very smoothly. Especially since some gamepads don't offer pressure sensitive buttons, I'm curious how the game plays on PC with the various inputs possible.

It’s quite easy playing this on pc with a controller.
Do you have V’s Fix installed?
I made a fix for MGS2 so it works with an xbox 360 controller years ago. It wasn't perfect, but did the job better than the built in config utility.
Basically MGS4 third person camera before they upgraded to next gen.

How do I play this with the MGS2 Fix? When I install it, it plays from the mod executable.

What happens when you get the sword as Raiden? You use the right stick to attack with it so how do you control the camera?
Way ahead of it's time one of my all time top 10 i remember getting the demo disk with a magazine of this tanker part and replaying it a thousand times shooting the melons and messing with the A.I
Honestly mgsv (finished Version) would had so much to do and to offer in immersive tactical espionage but because of money issues they had to cut it a lot short 😢 rumors go that MGsV was released really only 35% or so truly complete so we never got to experience the full 100% of the game and I’m sure would be much more ahead of its time like all the other mgs if you notice that they are all ahead of there time in wich the games were released ! I play mgsv to this day 6 years later I still find new things !

It dose I don't know why he did add this into game. Mgs3 he did the same thing only changing it in the HD collection. It was the time of how games were and I think he was following the same camera angle from mgs1, only that portable ops was the only first time you got a third person perspective of snake kn the psp, so that changed mgs in alot of ways. People always dismiss mgs portable ops, but it's whag made changes too peace walker and lot of others later on.

The image has a horrible aspect ratio that deforms everything, and most of the beautiful post processing effects are missing entirely. Ugly version if i'm to be honest.
Original PS2 version played on a proper crt is still the absolute best way to play this gem.
This guy didn't install V's Fix, which corrects the aspect ratio and most of the graphical bugs. I played it too on my channel if you want to see how it should look.

I think the PC version can not be fixed to the level of the original PS2. The only hope to play the game in high resolution "and" with all the proper effects, is ps2 emulation (at the moment, the background depth buffer is still not fully emulated in MGS2 though...and ironically, in MGS3 it's the foreground one that has issues).
Still, pcsx2 is the most gfx competent way to pkay them, except original ps2 console.
@@usernameRika I didn't realize so many effects were missing! I haven't played the PS2 version indepth in a long time. I've mostly have stuck to the HD collection once that was released back in 2010 or whatever it was. I just ran around the Tanker for a bit in PCSX2. One thing I've noticed with the PC version is that the environmental textures have more visible color banding compared to the PS2 version, which looks better and smoother in that regard. Also the rain effects are definitely more dynamic in PS2. It would indeed be nice to have the proper faithful presentation in the PC version, or the third person camera mod in the PS2 version. Hopefully someday we'll get both in the same package.
i hope they remake mgs1 through 4. wish Kojima was still involved
43:29 Kojima predicted the ext4 filesystem that linux, and other UNIX/Unix systems, use in this MGX boot sequence. by 2007 (it was being worked on since 2006), it would've still been in beta (marked as unstable), and a year later in october of 2008 is when it would be considered stable enough for use in a wide range of systems

I'd really like to play this version, but the lack of pressure sensitivity on PC, even with a DS2/DS3, puts me off so much. :(

i think the .exe file need to be in Bin folder then run the .exe
Instructions says to place files in bin folder where the installation is. And run solid_mods_loader.exe.
