- In this video I am building Tamiya's Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden in 1:48 scale. This is an older release, with a combination of raised and recessed panel lines. The kit is cheap, so I had no issues experimenting with new techniques and the fit was good enough.
I am using Revell Aqua Color and Ammo Mig acrylic paints thinned with Revell Color Mix Thinner. The mixture of the paints was done by eye, so I don't have exact ratios. Airbrush is a cheap, no-name one.
Hope to see you soon for another video.
God: (adds random objects to cockpit)
Pilot: Oh wow! A coffee machine
Just started building this kit. I took a 40 year hiatus from modeling and your video has inspired my to detail the cockpit similar to yours.
I'm happy to hear this. I just added some pieces I had laying around. 👍
@@SpruesToScale I added some wire and lead wire to the floors and walls. Also made masking tape seat belts too.
I like your in video comment of "painting parts nobody will ever see" I spend too much time doing that.
Ive gotta say i love the way you put multiple screens up at once to show what your doing
I`m glad you like it. Thanks for watching.
I found it confusing and hard to follow.
@@gavingiles5079 Stil finding my way, Gavin. I toned it down in my latest video. :)
nice detail and unique plane
Just found your channel in my RUclips recommendations. For what you say is cheap kit it turned out great! Love all the scratch work. New friend and supporter.
Excellent job. I really like those older Tamiya kits like that, the Frank, and the Buffalo for beginning modelers. They are simple, not too expensive, and go together well...
Thanks, Alan. I'm going to build the 1983 Zero some time in the future. 👍
Outstanding!
It may be old, but it still builds into a very fine model of the J2M3.
Hi great job on the aircraft nicely weathered thank you for sharing.
Awesome job! Mișto video-ul și și macheta! La mai multe 😁
Very nice on your first efforts. I've been modeling over 50 years. Not sure I'm any better.
Thanks for the kind words, Stephen. 👍
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻wonderful build I have this kit now start the my 😁👍
Masterpiece!!!
Excelente modelo!!
Gracias 👍😁
Well done.
Skillfully done!
Thank you. 👌
Brilliant build and finish...well done!!!
Thanks a lot. I'm really happy you liked it.
nice job!!!!!
Thank you.👍
Great Job..! :) Thanks for sharing. Tips for mine...!
Hi, Fernando. Here's another tip: don't cut off the ends of the gear legs. The square ends are supposed to go in the square holes in the wheel wells. My gear is shorter than normal cause i didn't pay attention. Happy modelling and thanks for watching. 👍
Impressive!
Agreed. 😋
Excellent
I just purchased one of these the other Day 👍👍👍
Very nice!
Thank you
Looks Great!Subscribed!👍👍👍
Thanks😉
There are a lot of modelling-reports here on youtube, and in doing so almost everyone follows the same pattern. It's always funny to see that a lot of effort is done in painting and weathering, but obvious faults of the kit are ignored. In this case the wheel wells for instance are too shallow...
interesting I got this kit as well. I wonder why the 70's ones are still around. they're cool planes. I'm painting with brushes though. I figured I got the green from my zero so why not start on it.
Go for it! Thanks for watching. :)
👍
What airbrush are you using/what airbrushes do you recommend? I really enjoy modeling but I tried and I suck at brush painting. Also, great build!
Hey Andrej. I'm using an airbrush similar to this: www.airbrush-fengda.co.uk/en_US/p/Airbrush-set-Fengda-BD-130K/1051
I can't make recomendations-i haven't used many airbrushes- but i guess the more money you spend the better the equipment.
For brush painting I found that Revell Aqua paint is the best. Thanks for the comment. 👍
@@SpruesToScale Thank you for replying to my comment and for the advice!
*superbe!
Nice. Got the same kit. It's difficult to understand which part is to be painted first. I got used to tanks.
😍😍😍😍
Hellow how many hours does IT take yOu to make this model excluding drying time
Do you use a spray booth and respirator ?
Hy. Thanks for the question. I don't use a booth but i use a mask when i spray clear coats and primer. Otherwise i use water based acrylic colors.
What colors do you use ?
I use Revell Aqua and Ammo Mig acrylic paints but i usualy mix them by eye to get the desired color.
What color did you use in the Cockpit???
If i remember corectly it was rlm 82 from Ammo Mig but i think i mixed it with other paints.
Oh wait, before I got any farther, I thought cockpits and all interior were a green blue color for Japans aircraft? ** nevermind, I googled it and it varies, and what I was thinking of is rustproofing called aotake.****
Hey Chris, I know what you are saying. I did that on the wheel wells and covers. The instructions say the cockpit should be painted with this aotake, but all references that I found led me to believe it was green. Not that I am a huge stickler for extreme accuracy. Thanks for watching. :)
Aotake was use for cockpits sometimes if there was a shortage of the proper paint color. It shows up in many different japanese planes from different companies. Actually is not paint but a rust preventer.
Why is everyone over weathering everything? The only place you would see a plane that thrashed would be one that crashed into the jungle and was only found recently. I would imagine the Japanese painting and waxing their planes every week.
You would honor your enemy by killing him with a clean well maintained weapon. If you were shot down, you would know that even if you were a shitty pilot, you were an excellent painter.
You have dishonoured my Father who was a Japanese imperial aircraft weathering corporal. He died in action at the battle of Ittcchyfannyi in 1944. Assigned to the Divine wind 101st kamikaze division, he flew 4 successful kamikaze missions, but alas on his final mission he died when ejected from his plane , where landed in a barrel of finishing paint.
@@gooscooby5988 - Not surprised he met his end at itchifanni. He was up against scratch troops!
Your radio is still too small, a long range voice radio in the 1940s were the size of a steamer trunk, 15 cubic feet. You can buy a ride in a P51 Mustang and that is where you sit, in the old radio compartment and it is quite roomy if you are short. Not even the Japanese could build a radio that small during WW2.
Lucky for me the war is over. :) The actual radio on the model was even smaller and one of the marking options has you remove it completely. As for the weathering, i usually don't go that far but i wanted to experiment with hairspray chipping and got carried away. I had fun tho and fun is good to have. Thanks for watching.
Excellent
