Arma are making really nice kits! This one is a good example.
They have recently issued their first plastic kit in 1:48th scale.
Hopefully we'll see it built here some day.
In romanian colours of course! 🙂
    Salutări de peste Dealul Melcilor!

Very nice work on the Yak, great paint finish and good use of oil washes. Arma Hobby certainly do some excellent kits.

Nice build! I have done the Arma Yak but I went for a grey scheme. I have also done a couple of their Hurricane 1's, a IIb, and the Wildcat FM-2. Still have a couple more to build. Well done.

Very good production considering the size of your channel. I was on the fence about getting this kit since its a little costly for a 1/72 warbird. but it looks like a pretty neat kit, I'm tempted. Good Video :)

Thanks. I'll probably get more kits from them in the future. Glad you like the video.

They should really make it 2 kits in a box. Very little extra cost to do this (see eduard!), but costing less than 2x separate kits

Man, what an excellent job. I also build models,it’s just that I am so far behind you guys it’s not even funny. My work is OK for a beginner, but yet also kinder garden like comparing to yours. I have a diverse character that is why I have a collection of 1/72 scale aircraft representing every country of WWII that had their own fighters. That’s why I can appreciate seeing this Soviet aircraft build. Thank you for that. Keep up the great work.

Nice kit, well built. I add this kit to my list.
You definitely need to use some other paint. These "modern" acrylics are totally inadequate for detail painting. Revell acrylics particularly bad, most of the time even for big scale painting. Their white paint is just trash. I get the point: those paints have little smell. But their advantages end here. If you want to paint 72nd scale models with detail painting, you should use MRP, Gunze Mr. Color or Tamiya preferrably. You can thin them easily, and painting in small with them is walk in the park. And you can lay down those paints in very thin layers. I built a Hobby Boss F9F-3 Panther, and when polished the paint with Tamiya polishing compounds the paint polished away in some places (and I used only the Fine and Finish compound). But the coverage was solid. I needed to rapaint those surfaces, but there were no visible step between the paint layers.
Another thing: if you want to blackbase, then don't use gray primer and then paint it black. No point to do the same thing twice. Use black primer outright.

Anorher advantage to the paints i am using at the moment is that cleaning the airbrush is easy. I just use water and IPA. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to write. I already have my eye on some MRP paints.

Revell Aquas are great for airbrush.

What was the point of all the preshading ? Completely black and then white highlights. Camo and nothing left of the white highlights. Then highlight the camo. Seems like a waste of paint and time. Why not simply preshade dark and build up thinner coats of camo ? The belly ended up as one big patch of overall blue. Where did all the preshading disappear to ? What was the point ?

It was partly fot practice and partly because i felt like it. A lot more experienced modelers admit you can't see much of the work so i don't understand why you hold me to such a high standard. Thanks for watching and for the advice.

@@SpruesToScale I'm not holding you up to high standards ?! I'm merely asking questions. By all means feel free to cover up your preshading. You didn't mention in the vid you were just practising and that you were going to ignore the preshading later. And believe me: the way you preshade and highlight is pretty high standard in my book. It seems strange to let it all disappear afterwards.

I think for many of us pre shading takes a very light touch and good control of the subsequent layers. It is more often lost on smaller models than on lager kits. Personally I tend to lack the finesse to make pre-shading work. But I sometimes use post shading.

      One lives and learns...
I personally find that post shading yields better results. But everyone is free to choose his techniques.
It came out nice in the end.

      trikkke11,
I think you're being a little harsh on one who is admittedly struggling with, and still on the learning curve of airbrushing and pre/post shading techniques. Cut him some slack and offer up some meaningful advice and tips for all of us.
