So you have decided to stay in this country forever, even if everyone else has moved on a long time ago. On the one hand, this is a tragic, sad and silent fate. On the other hand, this land is beautiful, peaceful and exists far beyond human comprehension. Thus you will merge with the soil ... and one day - dear Wanderer, who calls himself Nomad - you yourself will become a DORMIN.
I know the feeling. It's my most listened to soundtrack (game or movie) of all-time. The fact the CD soundtrack has remained in print for 19 years & counting, is a testament to just how good the music really is & how much of an impact the music has had on so many. Kow Otani has made some amazing music, but his soundtrack for "Shadow Of The Colossus" is what he'll probably best be remembered for.
OMG, I remember this video. It was an amazing discovering. At that time I was spending so much time on SOTC on ps2 to try to find secrets, climb impossible cliffs, get down in some tangible areas without dying etc. This video made me crazy! I still remember exactly the sentence "i officially name this discovery the pikol's big secret" ^^
Man, on one hand it’s amazing to see the discovery of the Dam. On the other hand, Pikol used music from my favorite game of all time. Xenogears and SotC are two of the greatest games of all time and they collide in this video.
The dam has to be one of the greatest discoveries in SotC! Congrats to Pikol for finding it so many years ago! I wonder how it would have connected to the map? Perhaps you would go through the cave to get there and it lead to Devils arena? I wonder if it also led to any other colossi's arena? So many questions that may never be answered!
The devil was placed in the map suggested by the red rocks that appear in the map the devil doesnt belong in the dam. I think the dam was ment for avion or for the big water creature i forgot the name to be sealed off as in to say you will never summon dormin without all 16 pieces.
I know that the brick structures are a part of Devils arena. I think the dam was just a piece of scenery on your way there, since theres a bridge that leads directly to the arena. Then that cave was either the entrance to the area, or maybe even the entrance to Monkey's cave!
I was definitely a part of this last big secret group and was reading those forums for years after the game came out. I remember pikols and nomads videos when they first came out and it was absolutely amazing to see all of this footage for my favorite game of all time. All of this wealth of knowledge just made it even better for me because it makes it such a great game knowing there’s so much more out there.
This is breathtaking! There's so much content in this game tucked away where it was never meant to be seen. Sometimes I wish they'd had twice as long to finish the game and twice as much space on the disk so more of it would've made the final cut, but then we'd not think twice about it. At least this way after all these years we're still finding new and strange things. SotC needs a 1.5 sequel, with optional Colossus hidden away in the finished versions of the rest of the map, reachable only through thinking way outside the box.
@@davidberner8315 There's unlimited ways to add the 8 beta colossi without breaking the mythos. If I were to personally add them I'd create them as some of the original colossus to hold Dormin's soul, but over time they broke free from having to contain his spirit and became beings of their own, wandering off from the forbidden lands and hiding themselves away. Because of this the ancient people maybe had to create 8 more colossus to replace them, which would be half of the colossus we fight in the original game.
@@Bunny-zg4hd this could definitely work after all there is a lot of space to the east and west of them map covered by clouds. You could definitely have a game set before Sotc with a new protagonist who only manages defeating 8/16 colossi
@@jellyjohn7881 I'd rather see how Dormin got imprisoned in the Forbidden Land in the first place. What if the Colossi were already there in the first place?
@@jellyjohn7881 That sounds like an awesome idea. Instead of a sequel, a prequel. We know Dormin was once free to do...well whatever it was that Dormin did. Playing as someone who enters the Forbidden Lands & takes out 8 (or more) colossi & also seals away Dormin by the end would at the very least answer a few questions about what happened in this land before Wander shows up.
This makes me feel sad and happy at the same time. Such a beautiful place. Itd be nice if there were an infinite amount of discoveries like this to be made.
Have you guys heard of Beyond the Forbidden Lands? It's a fan project that is being made so we can play against the cut colossi, they have a discord too, I recommend joining it
I remembered seeing that a long while back by Pikol himself, and was amazed by the cut area that would have completed the map. I’m super disappointed on the remaster for not restoring the cut area and serve it as an optional path, optional colossus, and optional items to reward players. It’s a nice area left wasted.
@@NomadColossus Aw, well that explains why it looked so familiar to me. I haven't played "ICO" in a long time but I still have a vivid memory of most of the architecture in the game. Still hoping for that full remake or at the very least a physical re-release of the remastered version.
By now we all know, game companies pushing their developers for release date are a never good thing, dozens of good things never made it onto the game because of that reason.
Did the developers ever comment on the dam? I remember an old blog post you mentioned where someone interviewed part of the dev team and they didn't want to answer questions on stuff found through hacking the game
i wish they would make a new shadow of colossus like game. the lore of some sort with similar engine and stuff to but bigger enviroment more npcs not just colossus and those guys at the end.
I think the magic of the game is that it is completely empty apart from the bosses. I feel like normal NPCs + lore of Colossi/Dormin like any other game, it's not = SotC universe game. Idk, I just feel it xD
@@H0MY911 It might not have the same feel, but there's a lot to do in that game if you take the time to explore everywhere & unlock the entire map. Lots of mountains you can climb all the way to the top of, many hidden caves some of which don't appear on the map, you have to just stumble upon them while exploring. Lots of clever puzzles to solve, many items & weapons to collect. "Praey For The Gods" might be the closest we will ever get to another S.O.T.C. type game. It really needs more love & a physical release.
I watched all your videos already but sometimes, I go to your channel and scroll around hoping there's something unseen or new stuff discovered relating to new areas/evidence. :-(

Man, i wish that they kept the dam in the PS4 version. with collision detection and all. and maybe even a Pikol flag ;)
Pikol deserves more recognition tbh, i remember the day he posted the discovery of the dam. Good times..

alpha brigde I think. it may be a test place/place holder in the early stage.. Nice vid!!!
I wonder if this dam was left over from "ICO"? It almost looks like something you would have seen in that game.

The video that kickstarter my obsession with SoTC secrets
