Check out my video on the leaked SOTC developer interview:

Very interesting. It's obvious Fumito Ueda had 24 colossi in mind very late into the games development, & only the limits of the PS2 hardware prevented that from happening. Fumito Ueda seems very content on leaving things as the are & never putting the extra colossi back in the game. For now all we can do is hope a Definitive Edition of the game gets released for the 20th anniversary in 2025 that puts back some or all the missing colossi. In the meantime "Beyond The Forbidden Lands" is a step in that direction.
No, Ps2 Could Have Support But Because the Damn Sony was Pressing Him, He Didn't Had The Time to Put Them Inside The Game Appropriately.......
I’m glad that SOTC released on the PS2 as a swan song of sorts. But, could it have been a PS3 launch title where Ueda could have included the 24 Colossi?
Brilliant video btw
At one point it was 48, but of course this was cut back due to time constraints and limitations.
@@MysterioGyllenhaal19 Yes the extra colossi could have been included on the PS3 version with no impact on the games performance. In fact the extra colossi could have been included in the PS2 version as well if they had just put the game onto 2 discs. At least the PS3 version supports stereoscopic 3D which is an awesome way to play the game. The PS3 version also has an adult deer that appears in the Secret Garden about 1:10:00 into the screen saver (dynamic theme).
It’s a shame they couldn’t make a sequel or prequel with the cut colossi. Or a directors cut.
If we're lucky a Director's Cut will come out in 2025 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the game. Should that happen we will most certainly get some or maybe even all the missing colossi put back in the game & maybe even a secret colossi made just for the anniversary edition. Let's keep out fingers crossed. In the meantime the closets thing we have to a sequel is "Praey For The Gods" which is a very nice spiritual successor in need of more love & a physical release.
@@timmadone8930apparently the director seriously considered adding the cut colossi in the ps4 version but decided against it as the game was already good as it was and thought that adding dlc would cheapen the experience. I’m bummed that happened but I understand as my memories of the game are perfect as it is!
That would be awesome for the 20th anniversary, but it probably won't happen unless Ueda wants to do it. Plus it would take a long time to not only remake the base colossi, but change the entire overworld while adding 8 more. I'd love it if that happened, but I'm not holding my breath.@@timmadone8930
There wouldn't be an end to it even if they add the other 8, Then people would ask for the other 24, then eventually 40, since originally it was supposed to have 64.
26* not 24 saru and griffin didn’t have test areas at that moment they were deleted
I wish we could of gotten DLC for the PS4 Remake of Shadow of The Colossus, where someone goes back, maybe a descendant of Wander who finds what has happened to their grand father or something and faces the eight colossi to free Wanders spirit or something
Genuine or not, it's a pretty good story.
Amazing video man, It's very interesting to know some of the lore behing my favorite game's creation!
Dormin is also Nimrod spelled backward, no?
Yes it’s based on the story King Nimrod.
oh i helped leak this stuff, if yoy want to know some of the background context to the leak itself i wouldnt mind letting you know since its mostly in the past now
Woah Man, as a long time sotc fan, I'd love to listen to your tale
I will say this,,, the RUclips intro does not match the videos you make, its a creepy weird vibe, if it wasn't for my interest on shadow of colossus I would've passed on the channel. Just my 2 cents to help improve things you know.
7:33 Drawn from its wessel...so the world might be mended...
So the world might be mended...
@GeorgeFontaine Not sure if this is true, I’ve been digging around for shadow of the colossus data and from my own research someone was telling me Evis was suppose to be a giant demon goat, it would have been the final boss, the tallest colossi and the fact it’s basically Dormin’s basic body, if you’ve seen Dormin from the E3 demo of shadow of the colossi. Dormin’s body had all the parts of all 26 colossi if they had included them all.
Pretty sure they actually ended up using Evis' model as the body for Dormin at the end of the final game according to leaks. There is concept art of Evis on the wiki, but it probably never got past the initial development stages or placed into the map. It also, according to the info available, probably only would have been a bit taller than the 2nd colossus since it was a quadruped. You might be getting it mixed up with Buddha, which eventually got renamed to Evis later in development, and turned into the final colossus in the finished game.
@TheHappyWhale I’m amazed how we’ve been able to figure out the series as time has gone on
regardless if it's a fan theory, this one seems more plausible then the others
Is this 100% official or is it conceptual?
It's based on a leaked storyboard from July 6th, 2004.
