You're 100% right on every point. When I got pregnant back in 1986 the first thing my mother and older sister both said was "Keep sound and light levels as they've always been. Don't turn things down and don't close curtains that are usually open".

Burp cloths are SOOOO necessary. You want one on your shoulder when you burp the baby or someone else has the baby in their shoulder because everyone has hair on their shoulders and you don't want baby putting their face on that. Also when the baby spits up you can use the burp cloths to wipe it up or wipe the baby's face. Also I buy a pack of white cloth diapers and get them monogrammed as gifts. So cute.

We used baby soap with my oldest who's turning 20 this year and washed all of his stuff separately due to him having eczema. We were fine using purex with my 2nd, just turned 16, and back to baby soaps with my youngest because she also has eczema. I have extremely sensitive skin with an allergy to my kids, I'm finally able to use gain regularly for everyone.
Change table has it's uses. Everything is centralized and not all over the house. They poop everywhere as you yourself said. There's nothing to stop that from ending up on the furniture or carpet if you're changing everywhere else.
Diaper bags are essential especially for those of us who despise purses. We also don't drive and live up north, it's essential for any travel.
    Also, poop stinks!
Showering with your baby is pretty dangerous, even more so when you've said you have had multiple csections where you're not supposed to be lifting much for a while. Not even to mention they're super slippery when wet never mind soapy.
We had a pack and play with each of my kids and if we ever were able to have another baby I've already been looking on amazon and walmart because the baby would be sleeping in the living room during the day, and that's all that will fit in our bedroom for a baby bed. I have 4 teens as is with 3 boys sharing a bedroom and no bunkbeds.

I agree with you 💯%!!! Especially the blackout curtains and keeping things quiet for baby to sleep- life happens in our homes and babies/toddlers need to adjust to that instead of us adjusting for them (though having children is a lifestyle adjustment- the best kind), plus, they heard all that noise while in utero and my belief is the quiet is more disturbing to them then the noise when they come home. My kiddos lived in sleep sacks until they started crawling and then they went to footed rompers until they started the whole standing walking thing, onesies (short and long sleeved) were the standard lightweight clothing they had, yes, they each had specific outfits for special outings or events, but going shopping with them or out to dinner or to friends it was sacks or one piece rompers. I warmed their bottles in a pot of boiling water (took the pot off the burner), I used cloth diapers at home and washcloths that I used warm water to clean butts and had an actual diaper pail for the soiled items (it was cheaper and those 6 dozen diapers/rubber pants were used for 3 babies and passed on to a young friend just starting with their family and yes, disposable diapers were around in the ‘80’s and we did use them for travel though our son was allergic to all disposables so he was the only one we never used them on). I used the same detergent for their clothes as for ours, though I did wash separately because I put their baby clothes through a second rinse until they were about 2 years old and the diapers went through a rinse cycle before I washed them in hot water with bleach and another rinse cycle and all diapers were hung dry before I went to bed each night. No pack’n plays, no tubs as our babies went in the shower with daddy each evening (I would take a soaking bath after they were in bed), no specialty toys, furniture, “things”, a crib, a regular dresser as I changed my babies in whichever room they were in, though I did have a bassinet downstairs for them which was really convenient after c-sections so I didn’t have to go upstairs to lay them down, we had a high chair, baby bouncy chair that I would put on a counter or dining table close to where I was working at and a swing and a bouncy swing, no walker, no playpen. Oh, we had 2 diaper bags and car seats-!one for each vehicle and the diaper bags had all the basic items plus 2-3 changes of clothes because of spit up and explosions (if you have an infant who has gone through teething ya know what I mean!). And I used clean cloth diapers for burp cloths, my “wipes” were plain white terry face washcloths you can buy in a package of 10. My mantra is buy what you can reuse over and over again when it comes to babies and life in general- it saves time, money and space in our homes.

I work for one of the world’s largest baby product companies…I agree with all but the play yard/pack n play. Some of the cradles on the market are crazy. I love the dressers that’s have changing table trays that can be removed when you’re done.

I used burp rags all day every day and they came in very handy. I also had a diaper genie and I loved it. If you keep it cleaned out, it doesn’t stink. I also used the baby bathtub for probably the first 5 to 6 months and it was very handy. I’ve been a mom for 28 1/2 years so I guess maybe things are different now. Obviously you can do whatever is right for you and your family. I’m excited to meet this little one.❤❤

I found the bottle warmer to be a life saver for night time feedings. I would feed on one side and pump on the other and place the bag in the fridge. Then if they woke up in the middle of the night then their father could wake up to feed them so I could get rest. I did this with my second kid as I was terrified of re-experiencing PPD again.

I think I'd be terrified to hold the baby or little one in the shower. Too slippery. I'd be afraid of dropping them on the hard bathroom floor. 😬

I just had a baby last year and i still regularly use a lot of items you mentioned 😅 i really think it just depends on the individual and their baby’s needs. I feel like you gave good tips on things not to buy before the baby arrives because you may not need them.. but a few months into having a newborn i bought a bottle warmer, darker curtains, baby nail clippers, a baby bath, and a bunch of things you mentioned because we ended up needing them. also some of these items can be pricey if you buy brand new. I highly encourage new moms to buy things gently used from resale stores, marketplace, and yard sales. We furnished our entire nursery with second hand furniture. No regrets. Much love to you cambriea! I look forward to your videos!

I love the cleaning videos, this video is nice too 😊. I agree with most of it. Being from MN, pretty cold like Wisconsin, I don't agree with the hat one. I don't know how true it is, but my German born great grandma would say people's temperatures are regulated through our heads and feet. So giving my babies a hat was important to me. But to each. 😊

Yes! When people say babies are expensive it's because they think they need all this stuff. I also didn't like onesies because when they have a blowout then you have to change everything. I used the kimono style under shirts and loved them.

  • @ummsapir

The only things you need are
Diapers and wipes (disposable or cloth)
Some Clothes (10 outfits are plenty)
A save place for the baby to sleep
A way to feed the baby
    Car seat
A blanket you love (for me that is the large muslin blankets - I use these to cover the baby, to lay baby down on, as a nursing cover if I feel to cover, as shade on the stroller, shade in the car, burp cloth- most used baby item for me)
Everything else is optional and depends on your lifestyle

The only ones I disagree on are the burp cloths (i made my own) and the diaper pail, lol. Our rooms were upstairs in our old house and our diaper pail never really stunk with either of our kids. It only 'stunk' when I was emptying it. I also bought it from someone else so I'm all for second-hand items lol.

I loved my diaper genie 😂 We didn't have any "specialty" items until our third because we were broke, broke. The diaper genie was the first "specialty" item we got, and I was so excited. I will say they are an unnecessary expense and those little refil bags things are expensive! I also loved our baby bath. Many times, I'd shower when nobody was home to help, so I just sit baby in their tub in the shower with me. Agree with the "baby" soaps, socks, and shoes! All a waste of money!!

I love it! Although I definitely used the diaper bag and the changing table all the time. I wish someone would have told me not to get a diaper genie, because that thing was a huge waste of money. I got a little garbage can from the dollar tree and just took it out once there was a poopy diaper. So much less stinky!

Thanks, Cambriea! Great information. It brought me back to when I had my daughter. You are right about these things that people need to know. The manufacturers just want you to spend money on things to help your life. And most are useless. My mom did the same thing with cleaning at night. Sometimes she even changed sheets while we slept. And the lights were on! Great job! Can’t wait to see the new baby! Hugs!🥰🌷💜🤰

I can keep good control of them and talk to them etc. My mum could never understand how i did it but some of my friends are the same as me......... a pee-pee teepee???????? 😅 i think the pack and play is what i called a playpen and i did use one for times like when i was making up the fire or doing something where i needed to keep them safe (and in the same room) while i did something where they may have got hurt while i was busy.

I kept everything for him absolutely bare minimum. I knew more then what i needed and what was just clutter. It was easier to store, use all of what i had and easier to just fet rid of when we didn't need it anymore so the clean out was faster.

  • @Corellyn
    @Corellyn 26 дней назад +1

I did use a pack and play in the house when my kidlet was a young toddler. She loved it and would ask to go in because we had certain toys that only lived in it. Things that had balls or things that were self propelled that I would have to constantly be chasing down. Her favorite was this ball popper thing that you put the balls on a twisty slide and when they got to the bottom, they were blown up a tube to the top of the slide. Those went everywhere. Use it in the "pen" and they stayed right where she could reach them.
Oh, and the bottle warmers! Don't freakin' do it! For medical reasons, I had to formula feed. The LAST thing you want is for your baby to be used to getting warm drinks. Sounds nice on paper, but when you have to feed Baby on the go and Baby is refusing to eat because the bottle isn't warmed up is nightmare fuel.

Hello I think a nice pack n play especially when the baby is in the room with u. An a stroller car seat combo an a nice swing or bouncey seat that can move room to room with u. An sleepers an diapers an wipes an I used old cloth diapers for burp rags or receiving blankets. Work good too. An I've always bathed a kid in the kitchen sink till they can sit up on their own than transfer the the tub . ❤an people want all the new technology an most of the time it's just a waste of money or the kid don't like it . ❤🎉😂

I agree. I always bit my babies nails. My sister in law always brought her two little ones over and have me do theirs as well. She hated biting them but accidentally snipped one of their fingers trying to clip the nails so I became their biter too, lol.

I agree with all that with my first I did a lot of research on what other moms didn’t use and I based my baby registry by that and I agree with everything you said we had a wipe warmer and I hated it and never used it I had mittens giving to me but never used them and hats too the socks we used durning winter but other than that he would kick them off and other one we had swaddles but I left my sons arms out cause he hated them down by his side so he had his arms out of swaddles and slept so much longer at night. Also the be quite when baby is napping is the worse thing you can do. My son can sleep through anything my niece could not cause her mom would have everyone leave the house when she would nap I never understood why she did that.

I could not agree more on the being quiet, baby sleeping idea. Worst thing ever! I purposely would vacuum while baby was sleeping to have them adjust to noise. Noise was never a factor in my babies waking up because they were used to it. TV going, talking and laughing, vacuum sounds, life as normal. They woke when they were done sleeping. I did the same when my hubby was working nights. I told him that waking life still happens even though he is sleeping. Sometimes something would happen during the day like one of the kids may have come running in the house just screaming due to a fall from their bike and when hubby would wake up I would ask if he heard the commotion and he always said, no, I didn’t hear anything. Nothing says don’t come here than going to someone’s house, they open the door, you smile and give a big hello and they say, ssshh, baby is sleeping.

I 💯 agree with you. I also didn’t buy those items for my daughter. Heck at the time I didn’t even know they existed!!🙈Save your money moms, and start an education fund with that money. I am so thankful I did. Great video Cambriea. ❤️

I think at my age I would love to buy myself a wipes warmer! 🤣. I used cloth diapers with liners for the poo poo in my day. But I agree with you on baby items. I used onesies, gowns with string and many light blankets to toughen them up in S Dak.. Have a good weekend you guys!

Yes! 100% agree. I am a first-time mom, and I have a lot of these and can agree you don't need them. I also don't think the baby needs a lot of toys during the first few months.

Mom of four here🙋‍♀️. I agree with everything you have said Cambriea. Most products that are developed and marketed for babies are NOT necessary!! The big corporations just know who the suckers are!! Hahaha!! Me included! I got suckered more than once 😅. Good Luck to all the new Moms❤ Congrats 🎉
LOVED our pack and play for travel and visiting but I breastfed and only needed diapers/wipes and ointment other than that. We traveled VERY light.

Hi Cambriea I agree with everything you said I just threw a blanket down and changed my babies I didn’t have a bunch of stuff burp cloths and onesies was my go to I used these daily. ❤

  • @aprilknerr4443
    @aprilknerr4443 25 дней назад +1

Only one I disagree with is the burb cloths...I had a puker...those were great. But I used cloth diapers as my burp cloth since they were larger surface area. Pack n play for at home I did have but I see your point about putting baby in the crib or bassinet for sleeping at home.

None of these items existed when my kids were born. I used a wet wash rag to wipe their butts. I’m sad whatever was handy for a burp rag. Mainly a diaper or towel. I put all diapers in the trash then threw the trash away. I didn’t have a changing table either. Useless item. I changed my baby anywhere. Couch, bed, crib.

Ah, the voice of reason! Had my son in '79, I bit his nails, he lived in what we call in UK babygro's and his feet didn't touch shoes till his first birthday. Some of these things I've never heard of!❤👍😆

Mom of 6 children. Agree with pretty much all.of these. We also never used a crib our kids co-slept with us until 1.5/2 then went straight to a twin bed. Diaper bags were a must for us with our older 3 but not our younger 3. My older three are extremely close in age there a year apart and my 2nd and 3rd are 11 Mo 7 days apart. So we had lots of stuff especially with 3 under 3. Then we got wise spaced out the other 3 lol. Those baby breeza are also a total waste of money not mentioned on your list.
