    Like your series. Do you have to airbrush the model or can you brush the paint on? Thanks

    • @GrossModels
      @GrossModels  2 года назад

      Thanks. You can brush paint, but it’s quite a big area and would be tricky to get a good finish. Airbrushing is tough to learn, but doesn’t take very long. It’s worth the investment if you are making more than a couple of models.

    I don't know if it was an old mold of this kit or some other manufacturer, but I remember buying and building a Saturn V kit in the early 1980's. It was big (or appeared to be, then, when I was still a schoolboy), and the fit was so bad that I threw it away not long after I finished it. Of course, I wasn't a very good model-builder, either...but I definitely remember many pieces not fitting together well, so that there were gaps and misalignments everywhere.

      I think this is an old mold of this kit!

      Same thing happened to me. Except that I bought it last week and none of the stages fit together.

      Can you “convince” it to go together? It is a nice model when it’s done!

    I'm late to this series, Great work! I've been trying to decide which Saturn V to build. This Revell (1/144), Revell (1/96) or the Dragon (1/72). Thank you for helping me decide on this one (1/144). Seems (seams) like there will be some challenges. However in watching your work, I'm encouraged that I can manage it. The scale seems very manageable too, not too big :) . If you don't mind, which paint did you use for the green (Tamiya Clear Green?)? Thanks again for putting this up. Regards Chris.

      Thank you. Unfortunately I don’t recall which green I used, it’s been a while! I mostly use Vallejo air paints on this though, so probably one of those. Good luck with the build!

    Is there a reason why you didn't mask off and paint the black before assembly? I don;t think one way is wrong or right. Just curious as thats How I would've done it.

      I figured doing it after was the best way of getting it to line up properly.

    Just a question: may be I've missed something because I'm not a english speaking person, but have you painted the white parts in white or have you let the plastic as it was ?

    • @GrossModels
      @GrossModels  5 лет назад +2

      Hi! I painted the white in white primer. The plastic was almost white, but did have a slight yellow tone to it.
      It’s usually better to paint any kit, especially if you’re going to be painting any part of it.

    When you start painting at 10 min into the video, what are those oval shaped part holders called? Can't seem to find these anywhere on the internet.. Thanks!

    • @GrossModels
      @GrossModels  2 года назад +1

      They are just shaped foam. They are spare packing pieces I kept.

    What kind of glue is extra-thin?

    • @GrossModels
      @GrossModels  Год назад

      It’s made by Tamiya, and it basically dissolves and bonds styrene. It can pretty much weld plastic together.

      Hi, sorry, it was a while ago I did this kit, I don’t remember which green I used. I think it was a Vallejo air, but I can’t be sure. Sorry.
