ahh, the beautiful liveries of my yesteryears. The lightning bolt Target's. The Kool Green cars. The old Texaco and Kmart cars. All together at Road America. Now that is some serious CART racing.

So was the 1000 HP. To put it in perspective. Dario ran a 1.41.08 I think they said. The Qualifying pole position last year was 1.42. So he was doing faster race laps than last years qualifying. The pole and lap record were set by Dario at 1.38.08 which is blinding fast. 4 seconds faster. But Indy cars today are faster on some road courses and short ovals. No semi automatic gear box back then. Dario's record beat the Audi prototype time.

Stop listening to the car owners listen to us and we will come. Unlock the V6 turbos, let the manufactures make them as powerful as possible, let other chassis manufactures make cars. Make us happy, and we will buy merchandise, go to races, and support the series. FIX THE SERIES!!!! You are getting there. Listen to us!

The problem was IRL which was owned by a few billionaires, and wanted an "American" racing series. So IRL and Indy Cart Series were running the same time. Indy had races all over the world. IRL stayed in the US, and Ovals were the only thing they did. Maybe a couple road courses. Now they are right back were it was. Brilliant. Half the racers stayed the others to iRL. NASCAR open wheel is what it was. An American embarrassment.

It was estimated 1200 horsepower. It was a 1-2 finish, no one else was on the lead lap. Of course they used a loophole in the rules. V12 Pushrod.

CART had Ford, Toyota, Mercedes and Honda at one time Lola and Dalara were the main chassis. They had races in 6 different countries. They were getting faster and tech was important. Why did Tony George want to destroy CART? It never made sense. CART was more popular than NASCAR, until marketing to people who really don't know about racing took over.

You've never been to road America then. The track is so big (4+ miles) and the track has put in millions of dollars in improvements. indycar needs to go back to this. different engines, different chassis, aero packages. indycar seems like a jr class just because every car is spec for spec the exact same, minus (basically) 2 different engines. they should take a page out of f1's playbook and give the teams more room to play with the cars.

@foxtrotalphaone When IRL bought CCWS, they also bought all the records, which basically means that all the CART/CCWS races are technically IndyCar races. It also means that from 1996 to 2007, there were two champions in Top American Open-Wheel Racing. It's no different from when CART took over USAC records back in the 80s.
