The greatest track in North america hands down. I was in even into racing until 1988 when I saw IMSA GTP cars. The first cart race I saw here was a 1995. I live in Cincinnatiand it's a bit of a trek to come up there. But it is well worth it
canuck406 the four races that NASCAR has posted are (in this order) 2011 Ford 400 (it was put under a different name for some reason [it was put under watch Carl and Tony race for the championship again]), 1991 & 1992 spring Bristol races, & the 1979 Daytona 500. I hope they post more old races too.
Thanks for uploading these classic races. Would love to see some that have not already been UL'd by others. 1970's and early 1980's if you have them ...please!
I'd say Walkens Glen would fit that title better. It has a lot of straightaway and a flat out uphill s-curve that's similar to Eau Rouge, only at Walkens Glen the "S" starts with a right instead of a left.
They had them but it took a major incident otherwise it was all local yellows, and it wasn't uncommon to just tow the cars a few feet off the track and leave them parked there. Regular full course yellows and completely clearing vehicles from the edge the track is something that has really only come about in road racing in the last 20 years.
Probably more like telemetry information for use on the broadcast, like they have today. IIRC, I remember them talking about that as a 'new tech' during the '91 or '92 Indy 500.

Went to every Indy Car at Elkhart race throughout the late 1970's and 1980's. Great memories. Great Friends.
I love how in 80s Indy cars some of the best guys were in their 40s, pushing 50.
Thanks for uploading this. I watched a LOT of F!, CART and IMSA on Espn that summer of '87.
other motorsport series, take note. this is what you should be doing, uploading old races.
F1 uploaded the 2001 Malaysian GP a couple weeks ago. It was only up for 19 days though.
totally agreed, and on that note- reference your old races, and always incorporate the things that made those cars great in your future cars!
canuck406 you were close. That is NASCAR's forth old race they posted.
i didn't actually know this...i'm glad nascar is finally doing it

I really like how RA has hardly changed at all over the years. It’s like seeing into the past when cars go there.
Sorry sir but the Road America has changed a lot in the last 35 years
@@jamescook9661the Track layout?
How did it change?
The Golden Age!
Thanks for the historical race !!
I am a f1 fan who is in love with indycar .
For those keeping score, the song during the opening introduction is an instrumental version of "Only You Know and I Know" by Phil Collins.
I remember this well even though I was only four! Thank you for sharing this with us.
Pleeeease upload more classic races like this to youtube. I'll watch every one of them. I love seeing how the tracks looked back then.
The best! I live in Cincinnati and have been to Mid Ohio many times. And nothing compares to Road America.
So much better than current Indycar. Real great looking race cars, with Real race engines, and Real drivers.
Awesome that you keep posting old races. Keep it up!

Thank you IndyCar for upload old races(1980's, 1990's).
The pit guy poking pit reporter with a broom at 14:05 X)
Por fin ese motor Honda aguantó toda la carrera (Nº15)
13:50 Dirty move crew guy lol.
I had to rewind and see it for a second time because I could not believe
he did that on live tv! oh the 80's!
Oh, do I hear Phil Collins “Only You Know and I Know” song on the intro?👀
Or is it similar?
? 125 miles an hour? At the end of the 90s, with 900 horsepower, they were doing over 145 miles an hour average lap. That is wicked fast.
great quality! thanks
The first of over 50 indycar races I worked as a marshall. I worked at station 10
Great upload. Thanks Indycar.
Poor Geoff Brabham never did get that Indy Car win.Along with Raul Boesel,he was the best driver who didn't in that era.
I didn't see road America until 1988 when IMSA was there.
I was at this race as a 12 year old kid.
Quite a few former single seat can am racers in this race
Am I right to say that Road America is the Spa-Francorchamps of America?
TheOz91 yeah that's a pretty accurate statement
A ton of former F1 drivers who've driven both have said they're very similar in terms of difficulty and just all around fun to drive
I'd say Walkens Glen would fit that title better. It has a lot of straightaway and a flat out uphill s-curve that's similar to Eau Rouge, only at Walkens Glen the "S" starts with a right instead of a left.
I'd say the closest European track to Road America is Circuit de Catalunya, with its long straight and long, round, sweeping corner(s).
Yes
Disclaimer: This is the 1987 LivingWell / Provini 200...
Tem best circuit of Indy and USA
Explain to me how they had that many people in the flag stand and there was no post at the end of it?
Was the full course caution not invented in 1987? lol there was a safety truck on the track and they barely even slowed down to get around it.

Awesome Grew up Watchin these races :)
19:40 why are they talking about Jacques Villeneuve winning 2 years ago in a race from 1987? confused... some sort of re broadcast?
Alistair Maxwell There is another Jacques Villeneuve who raced in CART. The uncle of the Jacques you're thinking of IIRC.
thanks ! I thought it might be that , but I couldn't find an uncle when I googled
Thanks
Mario always seemed to be sponsored by “who?”
In this case, Hanna is a brand of car washes.
Do one with Watikins Glen
24:47 They predict the concept of force feedback.

36:00 Easily the most harrowing 5 minutes of that turtles life.
Oh my god
_OH MY GOD_
*_O H M Y G O D_*
Gawd, I hated those MASSIVE rear wings.
Never saw the Pagoda.
1:17 ESPN!!!
