    We need a endurance race at road America, it would make the race 10 times better than it was before, a 2 hr and 40 minute race is too short for a track like this, I'm pretty sure everyone else would agree with me

      @@erickyle5604 yeah a 24 hr race would be really cool to see or 12 hr race or maybe even 6 hours, but I did read somewhere that the longer the race the more money imsa would have to pay, so i think once imsa makes enough money they can do it.

      2 hours and 40 mins is not endurance distance? Endurance doesnt always mean time it can also be length. 4 miles a lap, plus you have to factor in noise curfew considering this is in a pretty up state part of WI

    • @GTfour01
      @GTfour01 Год назад +1

      @@km6832 2 hours 40 is just 45min. past an F1 race. This can hardly be called a serious endurance race. And do you mind if I whipe my behind with the noise curfew?
      It's not so that this track has to battle to keep all them top tier races from ruining everyones peace and quite every weekend. On the contrary..
      Them nimbies should remind themselves that A) this track has been there for far longer then most who're living in it's direct vicinity and B) the revenues for all establishments(hotels, restaurants, campings, etc ) and draw of tourists/specators far outweigh the complains of a couple of handfulls "uppedy" whiners.

    After watching a bunch of IMSA racing this year, a few thigns stand out.
    1. Road America, VIR and Lime Rock are amazing race tracks. Laguna Seca and Watkins Glen had been my favorite American tracks going in, but I think RA and Lime Rock might be challenging LS for the top. Why are the 3 I first mentioned not in every road racing game ever put out?
    2. Jeremy, John & Shae are amazing commentators. They have amazing knowledge of the sport and even more enthusiasm for it. World class.
    3. Multi-class racing makes all the drivers have to be better at what they do and situational awareness. Both things that translate to everything a person can do.
    Listening to the guests you had here was great. Best takeaway was more single makes! So excited as MX-5, Lambos and Porsche have been real favorites of mine. Lime Rock will be missed though.

    There's a battle for overall P2 in the GTP class with the 60 Acura 0.1s behind the 01 Caddilace They didn't show a single moment of the lap and didn't show a glimpse of the overtake. Instead the producers are showing an LMP3 car that doesn't have a single car in its class within 10 seconds of it for an entire lap. Absolutely moronic.

    What is the problem with IMSA with their inability to clear a stalled car from the track in a reasonable amount of time. It should not take 10-15 minutes to clear a stalled car. With the first two cautions, no cars were wrecked, with no debris strewn about on the track, nor were the drivers injured. What disappoints me so much about their inability for the crash team to arrive in a timely manner, what would happens if there's a car on fire.
    IMSA needs to purchase more safety vehicles to be distributed around the tracks along with more safety crews to personnel them. IMSA should only race at tracks that have multiple gaps in the walls so that multiple safety crews can be spread out around the course instead of having just looks like just one safety crew.
    And one more problem that these unnecessarily long yellow flag. The tires get cold. Then they lose traction, which increases the probability of another car going off track within the first few laps of resumption to racing.
    The thing with cold tires created by yellow flag caution lamps, is prevalent in most racing series. The biggest offender I see is in NASCAR, where they're race commentators are always talking about the Big One (multi car crash) gonna happen on the restart. And it usually always happens because everybody's tires become cold. Sometimes I get the impression that the auto racing sanctioning bodies are governed by people who are slightly retarded. Just can't seem to grasp the concept of cold tires because of unnecessary long yellow flag caution laps.

    Does it include the 10 commercial breaks from USA/NBC in the final hour of race? That was just an awful experience! Granted most of them were side-by-side, that kind of interruption is only going to get worse as the networks try to make the money back from the rights deals. With declining audiences in cable and linear overall, eventually its just going to make sense to put them live on YT!

    What I find Amazing, is that in the near 70 years of Road America's existence, it's never hosted an F1 race. It's almost as long as Spa, and several former F1 racers have expressed their love for this track (Roman Grossjean for example).

    • @FarrYaweh

      Unfortunately there's way too much cement here. They'd need to seriously renovate the barriers to make it even an option.

    • @frenchfrey65
      @frenchfrey65 Год назад +3

      @@FarrYaweh oh yeah RA does need TLC, even with the repave the track needs to be widened just a bit to fit F1 cars, and it needs permanent racing garages.
      I've also had plenty of arguments tho with people on "infrastructure" thinking our neck of the woods doesn't have any compared to Spa. In reality, RA is literally in the middle regionally wise of many cities and places people can go to that are not that far to drive to, as well as plenty of airports to quickly transport F1 supplies for any logistical problems. As a result, it's similar to Spa in that regard as well, the fact that there are places that people can still go and stay at after a race/practice/qualifying. Not to mention Lake Michigan is just east from the track and in the middle of June/July, is wonderful with plenty of hotels and small towns to accommodate.
      Not to mention that the PGA loves that area with Whistling Straits nearby.

    Not to be a downer but these broadcasts can be frustrating sometimes. So many battles and passes not even shown, or mentioned 5 minutes later with no replay. John and Jeremy struggling to interpret the timing, not always knowing the rules, being stuck with the national video feed, the limited timing information on screen, no telemetry, sector times, or tire life graphics… as a viewer at home, it’s hard to get excited when the commentators seem lost themselves half the time. Show me 2-3 minutes of a good battle for once! I’d also love to have a former driver with IMSA experience in the booth. I hope with IMSA thriving the production value will go up. It could be so much more engaging and do the racing justice!

    Driving at this level was my dream, I wanted to be one of the best in the world.... sadly my spine is twisted and took all my hopes and dreams and put them out of my reach. I was racing motorcycles on the tail of the Dragon driving a 1987 Chevy G20 Cargo Van at 17 years old! I learned how to drive fast on go-karts when I was just 5 and always thought that one day I'd be driving in cars like these when I was all grown up.... I'm 40 now and live in too much pain to drive to the store most days. I got by until last year when I get hit by being a courier most of my life but after getting nailed at a stop light by a lady on her phone at highway speed, it hurts too much and all I do is suffer from life and watch my hopes and dreams die..... I can't say "One day I'm going to be one of the best drivers in the world" anymore.... and that broke me. Now I see videos like this and think, "if I had a normal spine, that would be me in this race" but I don't have a chance of ever getting to prove I had what it takes... that hurts the soul knowing others get a Chance with only half the skills I have.... It make one hate ones self, like you failed at life.

    • @A.F.Whitepigeon
      @A.F.Whitepigeon Год назад +2

      IMSA has never had tire heaters, and they're better for it. It adds a little wrinkle to strategy, because the long-term advantage of fresh tires is somewhat offset by the short-term disadvantage of cold tires. It's also, IMO, a good thing to give the drivers a bit of a challenge; it adds visual excitement and demonstrates the drivers' human personality, and it allows an opportunity for the great to separate themselves from the good. Plus, tire heaters cost money, so the sport is more accessible if teams don't have to pay for them.

    • @bigc6736

    Not enough coverage of any other field other than GTP. I like GTD the best and there was practically no coverage for them. I am disappointed with the Television coverage to say the least. SMH...

    why is the video quality so poor? It's not just that it's 720p but you can see all these weird artifcats like vertical stripes and stuff on a lot of the cameras.

    great racing - pity no commentator free version available. Would be nice to have effects only video available. Muted video not fun - but current commentators = mute essential IMO.
