Love this track, love this race. I have not heard a valid reason why they do not hold a 24 hour race here. This track is begging for a big endurance race. It offers everything you need for a truly entertaining and challenging race. People with power should consider the potential of putting together such an event. Thanks for posting this race.
My guess is the lack of lighting. While I understand these cars do have lights, the drivers may, for example, still have difficulty avoiding a stricken car (no lights) near one of the major braking zones. A track this fast needs some sort of flood lighting to help the drivers spot braking zones and potential hazards. Smaller details, such as lights on the flagmen or electronic equilivants on the fencing, would also be needed. In my opinion, it is the lack of lighting and the safety issues that low visibility creates that are stopping this beautiful track from running in the darker hours. In theory, a 12 or 6 hour event would still be possible. Who knows, it may be a fuel/tire logistics thing too.
@@alexcoleman1635 lighting is the one that gets me. Overnight racing at Brno, Portimao, Spa, etc. just to name a few, even the 25 hours at Thunderhill total darkness, total desolation. @@xnecron99 The LMP1 HY cars from Porsche Audi and Toyota in the last couple of years have been anything but boring and delivered some of the best racing.
I agree 100% imo it would be the start of the end of the series, Bringing in way too high budget cars from the factories. And when the factories get bored and leave(and they always do) the series dies and has to reboot. Just like at Le Mans or the ALMS. if it ain't broke don't fix it. Not interested in seeing hybrids or electric cars.
There were two more at the Daytona 24 h (both Dragonspeed), but otherwise that's it. There have been a few Oreca/Gibsons and Ligier/Gibsons in the past seasons, but they raced as DPi. WEC has all the LMP2 teams.
Last season it made more sense to run Lmp2s as they were able to compete for overall wins. Braun and Bennett finished secong in the points with an Oreca 07 in a joint prototype class. But now the DPis have been freed up so they are faster. JDC Miller and Core Autosport changed to running DPis because of with them they can compete better for overall positions.
After LMPC class was retired. and DPI rules changed. I think they were hoping it would attract some LMP2 teams from Europe. Personally as long as theres at least 2 idc more cars on track to enjoy is a good thing.
@@SpartanRacing1989 LMP2 is meant to attract competitors because it has a price cap - a max out-of-pocket you can spend on it $1 half-million), so a team doesn't have to have a $300 million budget to compete, like in WEC LMP1. My 1st live IMSA race! Awesome day! I don't know where Hindy was looking at bad weather, but I didn't see any sign of it. We sat inside turn 3. (Any suggestions for a better view?) I missed Kat Blaster's spin-out, and I only now know why she dropped so far down, and why Pat Long had to race with a Band-Aid on his nose. But what a race for the Pfaff Plaid Porsche! Never let the Lambo out of their sights. And I can say I was there for Mazda's 3rd in a row! I can also say Ollie Jarvis looked really rough after the podium ceremony. Sad to see it, you just do not know how to make it. People watch race most to hear engine sounds. But it's too low, hard to pay attention on the race 😔 Louder engines please
So I guess its ok to "balance power" to make the Mazda successful and completely fuq Caddy? Who were barely winning in the beginning of the season... and Corvette not even close to last year lap times hmm thats not suspicious, IMSA/WSC/ACO can never go without their biases!
shaadydog1 why are you including the ACO, they have no control over BoP here? Also, the IMSA BoP policy is they are even over the season. The Cadillac's weakness is straight line speed, so Road A,Eric's has to be among the worst circuits for them. Also, if you hadn't noticed, Acura and Mazda were just as strong at Road America, Acura have been quickest 3 other times and Mazda 2 other times. And finally, if any GTLM manufacturer can complete about their pace here it is Porsche, Corvette were around the pace. I don't think you quite understand how complicated BoP is, it is extremely difficult for the cars to be perfectly balanced. Also different circuits result in different performance from track to track even with the same BoP, so adjustments have to be made accordingly for that. Also some teams and drivers may just be performing better.
Thanks you Imsa for giving us the best racing out there, and Road America!!!!

Sounds like America has been colonized again. Where are the American commentators?
The ablaze physician immunologically bake because handsaw cephalometrically dust out a sulky chive. necessary, few fierce slime
You have to love illegal racing moves. Dont you love when blocking rules are put in place to create clean racing and then IMSA doesn't follow them.
Evan Stormowski 🤫🤐🥳
IMSA TV needs 2 new commentators- these guys drive me nuts with their stupid bantering- Actually Shea Adam is much better and smarter..
Well BOP is automated in WEC, even if they wanted, there is no way to influence the BOP.
shaadydog1 thinks that BOP made mazda successful meanwhile heading into this race mazda got hit with weight increase and boost decrease.
Tell that to Caddilac for the last few years. They were dominating DPi and nothing was done there either.
