      Wow! It was mine too! I came with a friend from MN, and we sat inside turn 3. It's nothing like TV, am I right? I missed some details of the race at the track, but there's nothing like that rumbling at the start, when you know they're about to round the corner!

      Haha! I was with a friend too! We had a tent set up at turn 4! Saturday we were watching from the carousel and on Sunday we were at Canada Corner! I've been in Wisconsin my whole life and I've been watching IMSA for quite some time. I cannot believe the endless views and entertainment there was to offer, definitely about to become a yearly thing. I love that you guys came from so far away for this amazing event.

    • @alexcoleman1635
      @alexcoleman1635 5 лет назад +2

      My guess is the lack of lighting. While I understand these cars do have lights, the drivers may, for example, still have difficulty avoiding a stricken car (no lights) near one of the major braking zones. A track this fast needs some sort of flood lighting to help the drivers spot braking zones and potential hazards. Smaller details, such as lights on the flagmen or electronic equilivants on the fencing, would also be needed. In my opinion, it is the lack of lighting and the safety issues that low visibility creates that are stopping this beautiful track from running in the darker hours. In theory, a 12 or 6 hour event would still be possible. Who knows, it may be a fuel/tire logistics thing too.

    • @krazyone3806
      @krazyone3806 5 лет назад +4

      @@alexcoleman1635 lighting is the one that gets me. Overnight racing at Brno, Portimao, Spa, etc. just to name a few, even the 25 hours at Thunderhill total darkness, total desolation. These guys race at Spa, in the darkness and rain, dangerous for sure, but the show does go on. Le Mans gets pretty dark too. Even worse, I sense it is something political. I just wish they would get all the red tape out of the way. Sebring is dark too, and in the middle of nowhere. This track deserves a big race. A 12 hour race would be good for starters.

      Last season it made more sense to run Lmp2s as they were able to compete for overall wins. Braun and Bennett finished secong in the points with an Oreca 07 in a joint prototype class. But now the DPis have been freed up so they are faster. JDC Miller and Core Autosport changed to running DPis because of with them they can compete better for overall positions.

    • @beenaplumber8379
      @beenaplumber8379 5 лет назад +1

This was their first season, so maybe they want to give it more of a chance before getting rid of it. Besides, it sounds like everything is up in the air for 2022.

TV cannot capture what these cars look and sound like live. The vibe in the paddock is so cool too. There were team members who actually wanted to talk to us fans. I missed Kat Blaster's spin-out, and I only now know why she dropped so far down, and why Pat Long had to race with a Band-Aid on his nose. But what a race for the Pfaff Plaid Porsche! Never let the Lambo out of their sights. And I can say I was there for Mazda's 3rd in a row! I can also say Ollie Jarvis looked really rough after the podium ceremony. I almost said hi, or well-done, or thanks for an awesome race, but he looked like the last thing he needed was another fan bugging him. For anyone who has never been to one of these races, pick one and GO! TV can never do justice to the real experience. (And I actually met Jan Magnussen!!!)

    ... are we going to pretend that Porsche-Acura incident wasn't retaliation? I could understand being in the wrong place at the wrong time if Long had made an attempt to slow for the corner. The speed difference would not have been that great, the Porsche would not have been so heavily damaged, if he had intended to make the turn. I like Pat, I understand why he was upset, but that kind of behavior has no place in sports car racing.

      Weesky substitute Mazda with Acura because I saw the 6 blocking the 55 heading into turn 5, and after Turn 5 heading under the corvette bridge going to turn 6. I'm surprised there was no penalty enforced on that

    • @beenaplumber8379

      [Edit - 1:15:47 - watch JPM do the same exact thing through turns 5 & 6 against the 55. He received a warning.] On the final lap, they let the drivers go, and the infraction has to be really bad for them to give a penalty. There's a barely plausible argument (I wouldn't buy it) that Harry was following the racing line, at least when he moved to the right. IMO, I don't think Cameron had enough, even without Tinky's swerving and weaving.

    • @theflagstand
      @theflagstand 5 лет назад +1

      As far I see it, Cameron caused the damage himself by hitting the rejoining Mazda. Sure it was an unfair block, but it seems that all racing series except Indycar allow such moves now, even F1.

      @@theflagstand what I think is funny about this whole thing is if imsa did their job and penalized Montoya for blocking the 6 would end up like 7 and mazda would've and should've gotten the 1-2 for the third time in a row but like i said imsa don't do their jobs

    You have to love illegal racing moves. Dont you love when blocking rules are put in place to create clean racing and then IMSA doesn't follow them.

    So I guess its ok to "balance power" to make the Mazda successful and completely fuq Caddy? Who were barely winning in the beginning of the season... and Corvette not even close to last year lap times hmm thats not suspicious, IMSA/WSC/ACO can never go without their biases!

    • @Ewane
      @Ewane 5 лет назад +8

      shaadydog1 why are you including the ACO, they have no control over BoP here? Also, the IMSA BoP policy is they are even over the season.
      The Cadillac's weakness is straight line speed, so Road A,Eric's has to be among the worst circuits for them.
      Also, if you hadn't noticed, Acura and Mazda were just as strong at Road America, Acura have been quickest 3 other times and Mazda 2 other times.
      And finally, if any GTLM manufacturer can complete about their pace here it is Porsche, Corvette were around the pace.
      I don't think you quite understand how complicated BoP is, it is extremely difficult for the cars to be perfectly balanced. Also different circuits result in different performance from track to track even with the same BoP, so adjustments have to be made accordingly for that. Also some teams and drivers may just be performing better.

    • @Maenfy
      @Maenfy 5 лет назад +1

      Well BOP is automated in WEC, even if they wanted, there is no way to influence the BOP.
