How do you manage conflict with family members? We want to hear from you, let's get a conversation started!

    • @dj912sent9
      @dj912sent9 6 лет назад +7

Number one is a recent realization of mine. It is so true. When people are rude it is really not about you it is about them. So stop making someone's behavior about yourself. Doing so we make ourselves a "victim" of how they are behaving. In turn making ourself even more powerless. No one can take our power from us unless we choose to give it away.
Realizing that people behave out of their own pain and insecurities about themselves truly helps not get angry or upset when their behavior is off.
I also think that certain family members can compare themselves so if they see you doing well in something where they see themselves as lacking they will start behaving in a jealous/rude/critical way. It is hard not to take it personally unless you are able to look from outside the box and see it for what it is...it is a reflection of how this person is feeling about themselves. Sounds harsh to you? Well they have to live with that everyday....
Lack of self love for yourself is also lack of self love for others.
Realizing this helps feel empathy vs anger for such an individual.
Empathy is a good healthy positive feeling.
You don't have to walk away feeling like crap. All it takes is a change in your perspective.

I feel should maintain a personal space. There are things we can allow a person to interfere with and certain things people shouldn't do it. On top of that, it's better to stay alone for some time, so that the love within the family members will blossom. Too much of attachment will lead to disasters.
      This is my humble opinion

My family moved into my grandpa's house (he asked us to), and ever since then I've seen a side of him I wish I'd forget. He's done stuff to hurt us and me personally, and I've tried to forgive him but never could. I never really thought of it but then I realized, the reason it hurts so bad is because I used to look up to him, and now he's a completely different person.

I have a lot problems with my older sister. And yesterday I put my hands on her first out of anger and frustration. So we got in a fight.(for like the 4th time) The thing that sucks though is that I have to share a room with her. I’m 20 and she’s 22 (My mom is a single mom so we don’t have a lot of finical support right now to build a extra room or actually buy a house with 4 rooms) we are both two completely different people and it’s very hard to live with her. But the anger towards her goes much more deeper.I’m the middle child in my family and I know I’m a adult now but still to this day I feel like there will never be a space for just Allyson for just me until I move out. I never get things I want when I suggest them and it’s also draining because my older sisters vibrations don’t correlate with mine. I feel stuck at home I find myself bouncing from my moms room to my brothers room and then back to my room😭 I feel out of place I feel like I don’t know where to sit and just chill and relax. I Graduated from high school but after that I didn’t return to school. My sister is in college so our room used to be split in half one side for her and one side for me. But now she has invaded the whole room. The room is specifically organized just for her liking and not mine. My sister is the type to shame you, belittle you, just make you feel less if you aren’t in school with a plan. I work at a warehouse and it’s a tough Job (I’m planning on quitting) but it pays good and I’ve been saving my money ever since I started like almost a year ago. I help my mom with the bills more than anyone. Hispanic families are tight we stick together even after we turn 18. My reason of still staying with my mom is cause she needs my help. I’m kinda ranting now but to be honest with who ever takes the time to read this. I have 0 friends. And I’m in a long distance relationship. And I’m over worked and tired. Does someone have any good advice?

I had to move in with a family member and his family and I have 2 tweenagers and we live in a small laundry room together, I’ve had to stay longer than I’d had liked but I’m broke ready to move out and he keeps talking me into staying but I’m not sure if he’s doing it because of the rent money, but my kids are begging to move and and I’m stressing out because we all but heads and really not comfortable and there are 9 people living in a 3 bed house. What should I do, someone please help, thanks.

For me, it's my mom..man, she is way too aggressive
Even our neighbours tell her to calm down but dont interfere much
But when she brought covid in our family all I did was take care of myself while living with strangers, those strangers were way more affectionate towards me than her..so much so that I cried when I came back home..
I really was looking forward to studying out of state so I could stay away from her toxicity, but nope...apparently I am useless and cant take care of myself according to her.. so I am not allowed to go anywhere..😞😞

Thanks for the advice. What I’m finding hard, is a particular in-law is so annoying that I can’t bare being in her company. Unfortunately she lives in the same town as me, and we (me, my wife and daughter) end up seeing A LOT of her. If I sit there quietly biting my tongue, I get criticised for being grumpy; I have say things, I get accused for being aggressive; but I just don’t want to around her. I just don’t know what to do! Any help or ideas please?

I stay home a lot to keep one brother from starting any gossip.. But he manages to get it out, poisoning the rest of my family.. I lost a 19 year old son in 1987,a very loved child, in the military going to college in Germany.. Jealousy I think is there, for that one nephew doesn't seem to care as long as my brother gives to him.. My child worked hard in trying to get somewhere in his, all he paid for while working at a grocery store, then into the military..
I need my mind rested from my brothers criticizing, his geolisy in my child doing better.. My son died while serving our country in 1987, to beat all my brother thinks he can treat me anyway, mainly because I'm alone.. Help!

Excellent advice!! Especially when you're dealing with a toxic, narcissistic father who treats my Golden Child brother like "gold." He can do no "wrong," and me like a doormat. We had been no contact for months and out of the blue he texted me that we should "let go of the past." He engages in name calling and disrespectful behavior towards me and I have to walk on eggs shells to avoid being called names. So, how can I retain my power if he shows up on my doorstep one day and resorts to the old behaviors? I like your Buddhist thinking, but how to implement it when the sh*t hits the fan?

The forgiveness we receive through Christ is not earned or deserved. Jesus paid the debt of my sin, I could never pay myself. The Bible clearly states that we all sin and are in need of a Savior. Jesus is the Savior, God sent for all who come to Him in faith for salvation from the punishment of our sins. we categorize sin according to the world’s estimation. Putting the offenses into categories of bad, worse and worst, is not what the Bible says about sin. Either you sin or you don’t (we all sin). Doing the judging of sin, traps us into believing some sins are forgivable and some aren’t. bitterness and resentment gets deeply rooted, causing forgiveness to be seemingly impossible as we allow our emotions to drive our ability to let go of the past.
    Hebrews 12:15
"See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many."
The word of God tells us that if we allow bitterness to creep into our hearts and if we become bound up in resentment, discontent, acrimony and grudges against others.. we come short of the grace of God, and have allowed the ungodly characteristic of bitterness to sink its deadly root into our heart, which defiles us before the Lord and causes no end of trouble in our own lives and in the lives of others too. Let us take this warning seriously and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave us. Let us therefore be imitators of God as dear children - walking in love, as Christ also has loved us and gave Himself for us.
    Ephesians 4:32
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

"6/10/10 From YahuShua HaMashiach, Our Lord and Savior
The Word of The Lord Spoken to Timothy
For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear
    (Regarding unbelieving family members)
My sons and daughters, what is trust with abandonment? What is obedience without expectation? Is not your reasonable service love without condition? Yet I tell you the truth, trust is more than letting go. For it remains standing that it must also be shown in your obedience and by your example, and by your willingness to never deny My name, no matter the time or the season. Beloved, place your loved ones in My hands, as I have said, for at no time were they forsaken. For I am the gate for all My sheep, and they also will hear My voice in the day they are humbled, the day their hearts crack and their pride crumbles... And oh what a cry shall be heard, oh what wailing shall come forth.
Yet are you not also My hands and My feet, My voice, a testimony and a lamentation bearing witness of Me? Therefore, again I say to you, do not deny My name to please others or because of fear. Make no effort to keep the peace for their sakes. Rather as it is written: Proclaim My words; be instant in and out of season. Reprove, rebuke and exhort, with all long-suffering, according to that which I have shown you. For one who truly loves Me speaks about Me, and remains faithful at all times and in every season. And one who places Me above all else has shown their loved ones who is first, and what faithfulness truly is. For there is no true love apart from Me; nor can one remain faithful unless they have received of Me.
Therefore to speak of Me in the
Company of others is to love them...
And to deny Me in the company
Of others is to hate them,
Whereby you have also revealed that
Your comfort is of more importance than
The Truth, and keeping the peace
    More important than their lives...
    Says The Lord."

    BARE WITH ME GUYS
I haven't seen my mom and sis in 5 years . My sister came at about August and then started Drama and shit . Bare in mind I live in Somalia and them 2 live in England . Im tryna take a break from the National exam and my sis comes around and brings chaos in the house with me and my dad . She saw a cousin of mine shouting at his sibling cah he saw here with a boy which obviously everyone would want to protect there sister from these boys. That's an instinct fr . My sisters a feminist skr immediately brings a concept of Men dont treat women right in Somalia and shit . Long story short , my mum comes in August and she brings a concept of I dont treat women right . I now live with am auntie who's 10x worse and if I say something , I'm the bad guy .

@@axcruz987 u can argue all u want, but Jesus is the main key principle for our lives. The Bible contains God's message to us His people to help us live life abundantly on this earth. So if all ur advise is not based on the words Jesus, your just wasting ur time.
