  • The demo process has always been my favorite part of writing songs. Getting started can be tricky if you're new to it. In this video we cover the gear, the process, and a few studio hacks to make things run smoothly.

Hi Justin, currently in the process of upgrading my home studio and I pulled the trigger on the Genesis 24U. Perhaps the first to be delivered to the UK.. who knows!
Love what you've done with the studio, keep up the videos!

I have a very similar setup to you (same Dangerfox desk, UA interfaces, SSL controller, boat of guitars to my left, bookcase of amp heads on my right with the Ox box, and a small effects pedalboard). Curious on the SM7 setup if you find that you get decent rejection from reflections coming off the computer screen, etc. I have a little vocal booth setup in the back corner of my room and I can control Logic remote from my iPad, but do find it somewhat cumbersome if I need to go up to the desk and adjust something when I'm tracking vocals. I really like the idea of being able to do it right there at the desk.

What's up Ryan? Yep, definitely sounds like a similar set up. I love the SM7B at the desk. I have a similar setup and was doing vocals remote with the iPad, even moved the mobile vox booth next to the desk but making small adjustments was a pain. I still do that when getting keeper vox, but having a set it and forget setup at the desk with the SM7B (with the Trace Audio Anser Mod) on a boom at the desk makes all the difference. They're known for their rejection and get the job done. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

Justin I like your video. Can you please tell me what you are using for your room treatments? I am still on the fence on what to do with my room. I have the OX but you should also look at the Fryette Power Station for your guitar amps. You will be surprised on what you can do with it. I have one and love it.

Hey Braxal! I will definitely try the Fryette POwer Station out. Thanks for the reminder. I built all of my panels using Rockwool Safe n' Sound and also use Sonarworks Reference ID to dial my monitors in. I'll have a video coming in the next couple of weeks building out a few more panels. Waiting on my fabric. Cheers!
