You know what you should've done Bjørn is to have the Tesla ones mounted on one side and then the No-brand on the other.
Would make a great comparison :D
Aftermarket mud flaps ftw. Respect for putting rear flaps!
This video came out a week late for me Bjørn! I installed the original ones at a Tesla Service Center in Oslo last weekend😢. (Only the short version though, even Tesla technicians recommended not to install the long version).
Hey Bjørn, I also live in Oslo and have a white Model 3 performance :) wish you all the best and thank you for all this quality information. I'm happy I've found your channel!
Got mine off amazon, they fit perfectly!
I have Skoda and recently I've installed one of those. No difference in washing - car gets dirty like before. But as for the aspect of safety and overall good looking I consider them as well spent money
Lots of after market products out there that improve various vehicles. The MG ZS EV is also great contender for after market products, such as LED bulbs.
Will you do a video on efficiency compared with and without the flaps?
Had the same 3rd party china-flaps mounted here. They lasted for 10000km and then ripped off in heavy rain (90km/h). No mounting fail - they torn apart. One of them scratched the side of the car when it fell off. Will not mount the same ones again...
I have the blue ones from China (GBP14). It hasn't affected the consumption at all but at 70mph (110kph) in strong winds I do hear the front ones vibrate occasionally. The blue isn't an exact match so will have to get some PPSB to colour match them.
Hi Bjorn, I have been looking for a video about the results or consequences of having the largest percentage of ev's in Norway. What things do we in Britain and other countries have to look forward to when we have many EV's like Norway. I couldn't find one video about that. Lots of videos of why Norway has many EV's but none of what it's actually like to be there and live with them. I've got a ZE 50 on order😃. I hope you could make this video, I'm sure a lot of people want a glimpse into the future. Thanks. Your video's are great.
Double sided tape is there to keep the guard against the bodywork. Otherwise dirt would get inbetween and scrape and ruin the color. Also the upper plastic screw that was screwed in with powertool does make a new hole into the car, but it is plastic not metal. I think also with Tesla mud guards you install this new screw into plastic.
I fitted no-name ones and haven't noticed an efficiency loss yet in winter. Plus the factory lower sill cover traps moisture and dirt so worth checking for rust in the future. I prefer mine with but it's grey.
Those aftermarket need additional paint protection film. This is why OEM have the modest version not extending up so high
Fitted a set of white mudflaps that I bought on Amazon, very happy with them, took no more than 15 minutes to fit them all and they look really good on my M3, not expensive either.
@@Haldexify Siggy, only my opinion.... but yes..... I did look at quite a few pictures of black and white ones against white Tesla's. I am very happy with my choice.
I also put these cheap Chinese mud flaps and I am very happy with those. They look OK and protect body a lot.
We finally have them available for service to install. Sad the Tesla set is only the front. I am tempted to 3d print some of my own.
I like it, it looks as if the car is wider.
And it has a good function with dirtiness.
I just installed those three days ago!!! looks good. I have the Tesla one but didn't installed them because of the same reasons
I have the shorter tesla mud flaps on front they work great, dont see any dirt piling up where you pointed out , also it looks to me it is the same size and length down to the ground from the ones you use and the shorter tesla flaps, however the longer flaps are way to long, i donlike how yours go higher up and protect however I don’t think grave goes that high ?
I love how you say Schmuuuutzzzzzz.
Hey Bjørn. u say they don't need to add any more holes in car. but for me it seems that he is drilling the skure straight inn whiteout any holes
I have the same "eBay special" mudflaps at front in my black car. I didn't install the rear ones as the rear bumper is plastic and stone chips are purely cosmetic there.
Looks pretty good man
Thanks for all of the information, but I am still undecided about the choice and benefits of each make. I guess stone chip guarding is my major use case, dirt can be washed off. Also, the bigger the mudflaps the more snow you can collect. I will wait for a future video to see how you go. Currently, I am leaning towards the non Tesla choice.
Allister Bullock longer you wait the more chips from paint you risk
Can't find them on the norvegian website 😞
How does the mud guard/splash guard affect power consumption? Does Tesla's mud guard take into power consumption? Would you do a comparison?
any of your model3 lost 30-50km of charge after version10 update? before when i charge to 90% i get 450km, now i get around 400-419km on 90%
Link til produkter? ☺️
You can find those noname mud flaps painted in pearl white to match the body. Cheap too.
Not sure, wish I could afford the Model 3 to go with them 😂. They're cheap enough if you've got one you may as well give them a go.
Can you do an update? Did you keep them on? Did they damage your paint?
U could use one type each side to test
Nice video the truth is always obvious
The real problem is that the Model 3 does not come from the factory with plastic rocket panel covers. These covers should extend from just behind the front wheels to just infront of the rear wheels with end caps at both ends. This is the only way to protect the rocker panels from eventual paint damage and rust. Pictures of the Model Y seem to show plastic rocket panel covers.
At white model 3 it always looks lile rear bumper is not the same color then rest of the car. My model 3 has the same. What you think???
Quite common, the bumpers are usually painted separate from the main body, the explanation I've been told is that even if you use the exact same paint the pearl will sit slightly different making it look a different shade.
Did these flaps scratch the paint at all?
Looking at the front flaps, I’m 100% sure the guy just drilled a self screwing screw into the wheel well liner... :O Meaning he did make a new hole without Bjørn knowing...(?)
Drilling into the plastic liner is fine since it avoids the need to drill into the metal fender lip which would cause rust.
Wade Yorke the problem is that behind those plastic liners you have air ducts/vents.. And as he said, on Model Xs, some people had their ventilation ruined because of it.. you never know what’s hiding behind plastic covers unless you do some research.
Link for mudflaps is in german ?
Even the short original ones are the lowest part of the car and on every ledge you get contact.
Hi Bjørn Nyland,
After a few month, is it better than the original one? If the original is such bad, I will install this non-name one instead of Tesla original.
These are great.
Do you have a link to those flaps Bjørn?
Do they also have an online shop with international shipping? I looked through the website but it seems that they do not have an online shop.

Yes they call it ali expres. You will find these from €10,-
Ok, which one is the exact one from the video?
Why you don't put wihte one? It put blue one on my blue Tesla model 3.
@@fideliovienna4631 if i Can i will put picture
👍
The original Tesla short type in front collects stones and dirt and, if you are not aware, this will damage the edge of wheel-room just above mounted mud-flap and give corrosion and lose of paint. And Tesla do not relate this issue to those damages.
I like the look of those flaps! Mud flaps always remind me one of my favourite old cars, the Škoda 120, which usually had them and already wore them well: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A0koda_120?wprov=sfla1
Evmudflaps are the best
I think the tesla flaps looks better. You can easily cut them shorter with scissors if you want
Also, the Tesla mudflap leave wide open a hole on the front side.
The noname is better
Should have installed no name on the right and Tesla on the left for comparison.
Hell naw.
@@bjornnyland 😂 come on uncle Bjorn, side by side review.
Centre of road always has more sand so not fair comparison.
would have painted the covers before mounting.
I think it looks okay on this car
6:30 Actually that really looks like a self perfurating screw. There was not any hole there before.
same i thinking. he said that every hole is there but the are making a new hole
So after many months, how are these mud flaps performing?
Great
Ooooohhhhhhhhh the front spoiler is gone...
@@fabriziom deam, in would maybe look good with the mud flaps, cause both are black
For white Car please white Flaps
10:02 Thank Me later.
I was totally looking for this comment 😂
Rally car now!
0:59 - denied!
Be warned: Installing these flaps without protection film will damage the paint, even if you sand down the edges.
Necessary in Germany?
Yes. There's Schmutz in Germany as well.
looks good, paint it white or do some carbon foil on it
The mudflaps look real great to be honest, noname or not. They kinda fit with the rear wing! =)
They're a bit brittle, if the driver is stupid....I dropped my front wheel over a kerb, and the guard was caught and shattered.
The Tesla flaps don’t stand out nearly as much as the third party one
I got on the long ones on a week ago if you like too take a look ,give me a pm. at Årvoll.
It's not too bad, you could paint, or wrap them in white, but i wouldn't care about that. 😁
Stop fisting the mud flaps 😂
Unless you speak Norwegian you cant buy the no name. Maybe add the direct link to the product :)
The extended are for the rear not front. Simple mistake to make.
I have fitted both manufacturers and Chinese 3rd party to many cars.
Tesla are a Californian company.. no one there understands cold or bad weather. They just do not get it.
Proof in point Tesla wipers v just about any other companies. Model 3 boot opening and rain / snow etc dropping into the boot is not a mistake a none Californian company would make.
Chinese for the win
I think you loose about 1% range.
They are useless here in norway. I had the tesla on my M3 for 2 months. And i have heard that the other one could damage you paint over time.
It needs the double sided tape and preferably should have PPF under the mudflap also. Without tape the flaps move a bit and can rub the paint.
@@anttitoivonen7339 that is true, but same with many manufacturers mud flaps. You get small scratches where the flap meets the body.
Why would you need mud flaps on the front side? Seems to me like its just extra drag with no benefit.
ruclips.net/video/XW4z0CBzqro/видео.html
It seams to me you are talking past each other..
Is I understand Reuben, he is talking about in front of the wheels, you talked about that in the video.
@@bjornnyland I was meaning when you held up the mud guard on to the front side of the rear wheel well but didn't watch until the point of installing it on the rear side of the front wheel. Didn't make sense to me at the time
No need for a mud guard there, but interestingly many manufacturers put a piece of plastic there attached to the undertray behind the front bumper, it acts as an air dam pushing air around the wheel. Have a look, most cars made in the last 15 years have them, unless they got broken over bumps, like on my car.
7:36 Bjørn points in front of the wheel talking about mud flaps.
"You can do this in home if you are skill enough" Literally just putting tape on plastic screwing one screw
Manchmal ein wenig Deutsch?
Hæ?
oriChinal Tesla mud guards 😅
the Flaps shoud be mounted under the Wheelhouse plastic.
Can't be done, the plastic in the wheel well tucks behind the body, so you can't just put it in front of the flap.
@@98dizzard behind what body? i think one could slide in under and put the screws through. that would solve the water and dirt problem, even on the shitty tesla design.
@@ranxerox10 it goes behind the rolled over edge of the front wing from what I can see, similar to most cars.
Don't jump to conclusions. Some mudflaps have little effect on drag, while some are just terrible, there are even cases when it's actually worth removing original mudflaps from ICE cars for high-speed consumption, and ICEs are usually much less affected by drag due to their inherently poor drivetrain efficiency. So be a good Bjorn and redo your TBTP! I'd even love to see a comparison between the nonames and Tesla originals...
