The BEST movie ever made, watched it a million times and never get bored.
Big Facts!!!!!
The best movie ever made that you personally have seen.
@@1990758why did you see the need to correct her.
@@756Attitude I don't see the need to do anything
@@756Attitude I guess he wants to think for me😄
Yesterday, I’ve watched ‘Malcolm X’ for the first time on Netflix. What a performance by Denzel Washington! He should have won the Oscar!
yep
@@aLgProduction Black ppl were saying this in the '90s that Denzel was robbed and we are still saying that.
Before #OscarsSoWhite Spike Lee and other black artist boycotted the event for the lack of recognition. Looking at the field that year, it was disrespectful for Spike and Denzel NOT to get recognized for this work.
@@jeffwilliams2828 Spike as you know was very critical of the Academy and he still is.I was shocked that Warner Brothers got involved in the making of Malcolm X.
That part💯
_Unforgiven_ is a masterpiece...but _Malcolm X_ was the true Best Picture of 1992.
Naw

Malcolm is probably the greatest American who ever lived. This powerful movie does him justice. His voice and thoughts are more needed today than ever.
Agreed
Your Funny today aren't you
I agree 100
Actually a lot of stuff was left out, though I do agree it shows a lot of sad experiences
That’s quite a stretch
Minister Malcolm is America point blank Period... Rest in Paradise To him and Betty
Spike made cinema history with Malcolm X.
My 15 year old son played the DVD a few days ago. I sat down with him and we watched it together for the first time. Malcolm was a father, a mentor and a guide to me. I love Malcolm and I appreciate his sacrifice. He really loved us. I get my bravery from him. Thank you, Spike. Following since Do The Right Thang. By Any Means Necessary.
Was 10 when I first saw this in 92, my first time seeing a black man speak so blunt like that excited me.
I was 11 lol. Most serious and powerful movie I saw up til then, and prob ever
The fact that James earl Jones is narrating is much love
Not only did kids born after Malcolm died get to know about his life's work, but young people born after his death --and who are still being born today and onward, will get to know the value of his work and the role he played in elevating our self awareness.
I would like to see this film in theaters for the young people to see now who were born after the '90s.
Some films are just perfect this was one of them. Spike’s attention to detail mixed with his talented team and Denzel’s acting will never be forgotten.
Malcolm X is one of the greatest and most important movies ever made. And as Spike said, it gets more powerful with time.
brother minister malcolm x was and is a KING.
True Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor winner 🙌
They where afraid of black People
🤪🤪🤪
Karol B. Completely agree. I Don't get me wrong, I love Al Pacino. But, you know well that Denzel was the real Best Actor Oscar winner. Pacino should have got it for The Godfather, Part II.
@@nene1082 Couldn’t agree more, I think exactly the same!
Best Actress too they both should have won
Spike Lee is That Dude
Always will be.
Malcolm X was outstanding and spike is a genius
RIP Malcolm X. I read the Autobiography of Malcolm X at 12 years old, changed my life. Much respect and admiration for Spike for making and starring in the movie as well as Shorty. Love this.
In this movie Denzel was Malcolm X the way Jamie Foxx was Ray
Facts
Actually Denzel was way better. I rate Ray... But this movie is visceral and legendary.
In my view Denzel just did a decent job portraying Malcolm. Denzel did not have me looking at him like he was Malcolm. I want to see the brother Michael B. Jordan portray Malcolm (as well as Muhammad Ali) i think he could do a much better job than Denzel did.
Absolutely
This was Spike Lee's Godfather movie 🎬 magnum opus
My memory of first seeing this 3:20 minute film is that it seemed to go by in 20 minutes. One of the greatest biographical films of all time. Spike Lee has done an important service to history and Dansel Washington has made this critically important American come back to life for all future generations of black and white Americans alike.
Janet also wrote a check for this movie
She sure did. I believe the stars that contributed were seen at the end of the movie.
Did they say ohpra?
One of the all time great movies and this is also one of the all time great behind the scenes making of a film docs ever made. The making of Malcolm X is almost as compelling and iconic as the film itself.
The universe aligned for spike on this. What a masterpiece! And who else could embody Malcolm like Denzel?
This movie was monumental
Thank you Spike Lee, it was a great movie!
My favourite film
A great human being, A great American, A great Leader for all times to come.
I was surprised that Spike didn’t pick Lawrence Fishbourne to portray Malcolm X since he physically looked more like him, even the small gap in the front teeth and the height but WOW what a performance by Denzel ( Fishbourne even had the serious look that closely emulated Malcolm X)!
Denzel and Spike got robbed by the Oscars!! Spike could’ve won for best supporting actor and director)!!!
I read the book as a late teen and made sure that this was the first book (besides Diary of a Nerdie Kid) that my son read. My son loved the book and Malcolm X became his hero too!
Washington was more up and coming at the time.
He was still Larry back then. Denzel made more sense.
@@ThaHeatHunter True but Fishbourne always played a revolutionary-thinking black man in most of his movie roles and his height physical build and his scowl was very close, even his voice too.
I always wondered why Fishbourne never worked with Spike after School Daze. Both are great actors and my two of my favorite - Spike made the right choice but when I heard the movie was being made I just assumed Fishbourne would play the part. Neither actor has ever made a bad movie.
Glad that the black prominent men made the movie a possibility with the financial support they gave to Spike🙏🏼🙏🏼🤲🏾🤲🏾
"I MUST tell this man's story...."
This movie changed my life as a kid..
My favourite film of all time ...
Truly the filmmaking is much more important than the film itself.. it's the whole story and circumstances that brought the 'child' into existence..
Awesome documentary that scratches the surface.
.
Needs to be 30-60 minutes longer.
.
.
I remember when this movie came out vividly. I was 8 years old Rodney king , Latasha Harlins, LA riots then this movie. I remember a lot of theaters wouldn’t screen it.
I have this book malcolm x til this day and denzel washington brought it to life and magnificent job portraying him there's no one else that could pull off what denzel did.
Malcolm X should have won the Oscar and Denzel should have won the Best Actor award. Angela Bassett should have gotten at least a Best Supporting Actress nomination. Spike should have received his Oscar as Director.
Brilliant film, brilliant acting, brilliant writing totally robbed at the Oscars.
One of the best films ever made no debate
It was my favourite book as a teenager
Why
When a Spike Lee movie ended the 40 Acres And A Mule logo appears and there are three phrases that go with that logo: "By Any Means Necessary! Ya Dig! Sho Nuff!"
Exactly I have all the t shirts from back in the days.
@@1990758 Yes and that logo stayed since 1995 with metallic color variations
As far as films are concerned, this film was the masterpiece of masterpieces.
This documentary was amazing I watched Malcolm X as a child and for along time I didn't know what the real Malcolm looked like so for kids like me at the time Spikes movie was my first lesson on Malcolm ❤
Thank you to Mr. Spike Lee and others involved with this epic Malcolm X film!🙂 Mr. Denzel Washington should've won the Oscar for Leading Actor.❤ And, the film should've won an Oscar for Best Picture as well.
I remember Spike walked out the Oscars
@keepsit100atalltimes9 Why because the Caucasian man (white man, pale man, pale European man) didn't award him & Denzel their Oscars?.
He was upset that a lot of his movies didn't win any awards. The same thing With do the right thing
THEE Greatest Movie of ALL TIME, at least greatest BIOPIC.
Denzel NEVER disappoints.
2:33 - I read the Book first time back in Fall 2000, I was 11 yrs old
and I did it for my 6th Grade Book report in Early 2001, then again in 7th Grade
for the 2001-2002 School Year.
What a tremendous film, and great documentary. Cant wait for the Criterion release.
My favorite Spike Lee movie.
This video just isnt long enough
How DW didn't win an Oscar for his portrayal of Malcom X in this movie beats me till this day.
.Everybody doesn't see the same thing.
I’m sure there was a “certain” crowd in Hollyweird that was not gonna have it
Greatest biography movie ever made and definitely spikes best movie
Classic
Love ❤️ Malcom X Love ❤️ Respect Spike Lee for filming Malcom X ❤️✍️🎥👑
Spike Lee should do the Tupac Biopic. That would be dope💯💯💯
Exactly 💯
I have seen that movie over 75 times and still watching
That movie is on of the best ❤❤❤❤
Spike lee has to be the greatest black producer ,writer also does a bit of acting in his films director ever he put our culture at a high shelf where no other color can reach in films he the MJ of films when he tells a story u listen u watch u laugh you cry u think u get motivated much respect and roses to u Mr Spike Lee the favorite uncle at the culture cookout !😉❤️🔥😎🤫
Exactly i've seen all of his movies from the eighties. I even had all the the t shirts. He had a store out here in melrose california.
I had no idea about the Mandela story but it's testament to him that he refused to say that line because it was owned by someone else.
Absolutely and totally a great video and tribute to Malcolm X! Spike Lee and Denzel Washington done an amazing job!
DENZEL.....SHOULD HAVE WON A GRAMMY
My favorite movie since a child I’m 35 years old in 2023

Truly Amazing i just finished watching it for the first time
I saw this in the theater at 16. My son Xavier middle name is Malcolm.
Denzel Washington line to speak Arabic just to play the role
I wanted spike to direct the Tupac movie 🎥
He would have turned 98 last Friday(5-19) and he is still feared by ppl in this era.

Malik Shabbaz read the book never watched the movie do.
Watch the Movie!) I think I tried read the autobiography) ~30years ago
One has to make the serial rather a movie, it was rushed and one cannot think justice can be done by just one movie... It can be first but should not be last though.

That's Bushwick
I would like to know why Spike Lee chose that time to make the film.
Money it's all about money. He couldn't have made that money before she's got to have it.

anyone know the songs used in this video?
Please can anyone tell me where I can get the movie....I have checked Netflix but it's not there
Currently it is being streamed on HBO. 2/2023
@@JNante Thank you so much I appreciate the response
Spike Lee said we went to Bill Cosby, Opera, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Janet Jackson, ....he didn't go to any Financial company run by Black people, like Reginal Lewis...
Pretty much what he did with all of his movies. Back in a days.
I was a teenager when this came out. Black teenagers came out!!!
POWERFUL MOVIE AND HOW BROS WITH MONEY COME TO GETHER .. AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.. I read the book 6 times ..

man i wish there wasn’t music attached to this
We Were White
I absolutely agree. Both of thosr brothers were PHENOMENAL.
And now we have the absurdity of putting blacks in Anne Boleyn and the story of Troy as Achilles not to mention countless other films where they’ve just changed white characters for black ones. As well as making blacks the heroes in almost every film they are featured in. Little spikey would be very gratified. BUT IT STILL WOULDNT BE ENOUGH.
Why are you so convinced that there were no blacks in the Trojan times or during the Age of Reason? Because media and public school didn't feed it to you as a child? Be an adult. See the story through the eyes of a literate discerning grown person.
Wow. Seeing blacks in your sanitized lily white history really sickens you. Pathetic.
Did anyone else catch that the man narrating chose to exclusively marry the white devil's women? No disrespect. I love Darth Vader. And I love James Earl Jones. But the irony...

I'm shocked that Michael Jackson didn't donate anything to the making of this film.
