    I use the burrito method in bulk! After I get done cutting all my fabric, I fold in half and sew all of them and then I one by one do the burrito part without turning them right side out, then I turn them all right side out when I go to put in my thin elastic, after I do that to all of them then I sew the elastic and seam in one step. I love your XL scrunchie!

    Hey! I love watching your videos while I sew. I am also a scrunchie maker and use the burrito method. You can do them in bulk by sewing in steps and it doesn't take too long. I actually found the other method took around the same time because of the fiddliness at the end, trying to get the seams back and front to line up. Also a few of the steps you can do sitting watching TV! x

    Hi Taylah. If you struggle sewing the elastic thick or thin you can just put a piece of toilet paper underneath and then rip it off when your done. That way the elastic doesn’t slip

    Juki has a industrial straight stitch machine that can sew 12 layers of denim material. It’s the Juki TL 2010 Q. It has an extension table, quilting foot, standard pressure foot, and tools. In order to secure the machine to the table it has suction cups under the machine. I got it to do quilting, but it’ll sew just about anything. What’s the measurements of the scrunchie material and elastic you use? My hair is very long so I often wear it in a ponytail...putting a scrunchie over the hairband would look cute 🥰

    • @TaylahRose
      @TaylahRose  3 года назад

    Wouldn't it be more prudent to sew the stretchy baby bands in place so the mum's wouldn't have to worry, surely the stretchiness would accommodate that? Or you could incorporate a slit in which to push the sewed bow through to hold it place? Lol, sorry if it looks like I'm trying to tell you your job, I'm not, I'm a mum of 6, 3 girls, 3 boys, so know a little bit about the headband sagas!

    • @TaylahRose
      @TaylahRose  3 года назад +1

    • @Sky-fz7ku
      @Sky-fz7ku 3 года назад

      Personally I prefer them to be re-tie-able so they can be used from birth to adult (or close to it) otherwise it's just another accessory that only only works for a few months before their outgrown

  • @simmoneb4524
    @simmoneb4524 3 года назад +1

    How exciting for you to be experimenting with extending your range of hair accessories.
    The smaller clips will be popular with people with less hair (like me).
    Buying towels to make the towelling scrunchies was a great idea especially as it gives a wider range of colour choice. Did you use a denim needle in your Singer to sew the towelling scrunchies? Also, there may be an adjustment to the feeding feet or presser foot pressure that might help overcome the breaking needles.

    • @TaylahRose
      @TaylahRose  3 года назад +2

      Thank you Simmone!
      I just used a normal needle which may be why it was snapping so easily! I’m not to familiar with different feet for the singer, but I figured the different Scrunchie method (burrito method) worked probably better anyway! Thank you for your comment and advice 😁💞

    Taylah i just wanted to know what do you do after you run out of a particular material . Because it is always hard to find the same exact material that you want in stores .

    • @TaylahRose
      @TaylahRose  3 года назад +2

      Hey Jamunaa! Usually if the material is selling well I will go get more material within the first month of release and I can normally find it pretty easily, I get 1-2 metres which makes me about 18-24 scrunchies per metre. If I do eventually run out and If I can’t find the exact fabric again I’ll have to mark it as sold out. I usually keep an eye on clearance fabrics as I can usually find many of the patterns I sell in clearance eventually and I’ll purchase the whole roll usually. I’m very lucky to live 5 minutes away from my fabric store and they can usually order in any materials I need from other stores too by checking their systems 🥰

    Just got to the part about the towel scrunchies. I had this idea as well but turns out it’s patented for some bizarre reason. So be careful with that!! 😭❤️

    • @TaylahRose
      @TaylahRose  3 года назад +1

      That’s so crazy! So I just looked and everywhere I could find it hasn’t been approved yet. It’s been rejected twice, abandoned and restarted and is waiting on correspondence from the company that is trying to trademark the name ‘towel scrunchies’ I’m not sure they will get through tho honestly because that’s a very blanket term. Will have to keep my eye on the trademark/patent and see if it goes through! If you found where it has been approved tho please let me know but I couldn’t see anything new past 23/4/21 🥰💞

      @@TaylahRose It’s by a company called /kit.sch/
      I saw on their website it was patented, but it didn’t make too much sense to me, and I couldn’t find any other companies that have the product so I automatically assumed it was a real thing. I completely abandoned the idea of making/selling them because The patent scared me lmao. This was also just a super quick google search for me and I didn’t dive too deep into it. You’re probably much more invested and educated on the topic though, so I hope you’re able to get the right answers and more information!
      I, too, think it’s way too generic of a term/idea to ever really be patented. It’s a genius idea, but not worth being trademarked or anything. I hope you’re able to produce and sell them though because yours came out WAY MORE my style than the /kit.sch/ brand. 😍

      Thank you Emily! Yep that’s the brand, I did notice they have been marketing themselves as patented. I’ll keep an eye on it but seems it’s just the name ‘towel scrunchies’ they are trying for and not the actual material/design etc (as far as my quick search this morning has found anyway) will have to keep an eye out and see what happens! Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention tho I would have had absolutely no idea! Xx

      Okay more research! They have patented the actual Scrunchie! No idea how they managed that or what that means. Scrunchies have been around for years and years, they have drawn up a picture for the patent. Mind blown

    Very impressed with your work ethic I do have one suggestion however. I got on your Etsy site and you have a lot of really cool scrunchies for sale and I noticed you've got them bunched like different ones you know like the yellow green purple you know whatever but when you go to pick the color it's difficult to figure out on some of them exactly which scrunchie you're talking about. Does that makes sense?

    Are you able to sell items made from licensed materials in Aus? We can't, here in the UK, due to copyright laws and it makes me sad!

    • @TaylahRose
      @TaylahRose  3 года назад +1

      There is much debate around the topic of licensed fabrics, in Australia from the Australian copyright website it states
      “Can I sell items which I have made from items containing copyrighted materials?
      You will not generally infringe copyright by selling an item such as a coat hanger made from bananas in pyjamas material you purchased or a play suit... which the manufacturer printed with the simpsons...
      however, you may need to consider other areas of law if your item looks as if it’s authorised merchandise”
      So yes it is possible but also need to be careful not using trademarked names as that falls under other areas of the law (last sentence of that extract)
      But as I said many will have different interpretations and experiences but from my own research this is what I consider correct 🥰

      @@TaylahRose thank you for your reply, that's really interesting. I think it makes much more sense than the way we do it here, where we can't sell anything made with licensed fabric (unless we got a license from the company to do so, and that's way too expensive to even be considered!).

    • @Sky-fz7ku
      @Sky-fz7ku 3 года назад +1

      Yeah in the US we can't sell it legally at all unless we pay the company for a sublicense. All legally made licensed fabric can only be used for personal use, and will even state so on the edge of th fabric! Interesting how different laws can be country to country
