    Good info. I’ve had good success placing pop up blinds in fallen trees or tree tops. Either on a food source or a good travel corridor. Just find a downed tree and cut out a hole in the tree top big enough to accommodate the blind, then use what you cut out to brush in the blind. You can also add other vegetation just to hide it a little better. Beech nut and Autumn Olive will hold their leaves for a long time,even after being cut. Works great! Shot my buck opening week of archery, using this method. SE Ohio.

    Definitely looking into the ghost blind, it’s my first year hunting and I’ll be on public land. Seems like the perfect alternative to hunting since it’s lightweight and mobile. Looking forward to more videos, thanks!

      Z Bob I hunt public land alot and that is one of the main reasons I use the GhostBlind is the fact that it is light weight and mobile compared to lugging a stand around. I liked it so much that I became a Pro Staffer for them. If you decide to buy one then you can use my code CJ15 at checkout and get 15% off. Good luck to you on your new hunting journey! 💯

      Chad Alan Jones I like the video and I agree with you on the ghost blind I need to get one of them and this video helped me to see what the difference looks like. I hunt northern New Hampshire on private land that is in front of federal forest so I do have options. I hunt with bow and rifle as well. My main job is Assembly at Sig Sauer in Newington New Hampshire. I’m in the process of becoming a rifle armor. I have a RUclips channel too if u like check it out. And from one Chad to another Chad I wish u luck this year hunting!

      Armstrong outdoors Z I appreciate it! That is great to hear! I hunt public land alot as well and the ghost blind is perfect when I can’t use permanent stands or climbers. If I have to sit on the ground then it’s hands down the best option for me. Good luck this coming season buddy and I gave you a sub back!

    You know I've watched them deer studies and they are saying you know you can throw a pop-up or anything like that out brush it in or not brush it in but they say the smartest oldest buck in the woods after you had it out say a pop-up blind for 7-days the oldest buck in the woods will walk right by it like it's not even there as long as they don't smell human or they think it's a threat

    Ive had better luck with my bow and crossbow in ground blinds and ghost blinds then I do up in a tree. Ive been busted moving...or a noise from the stand or I just cant take the cold on an all day sit....especially the older I get. I bought a millenium stand and that made it better...but is so comfortable I fall asleep LOL....

    Used a pop up last min this season so many errors i learned in one outing
    Wear black in blind not camo
    Brush in more then u think u need
    Clear ground under if possible or lay blanket to silent movement
    Just a few practice from blind to learn restricted range of motion
    Did beet getting rained on for hours on end plus passed on a couple good shots on smaller rack deer so it would def work no doubt

    I love hunting from ground blinds and I hate hunting from ground blinds
    I've killed dozens of deer from ground blinds, but I've also missed a couple due to hitting the edge of one of the windows.
    It happened again 2 days ago on a really nice 8-point I had him dead to rights at 20 yards let the arrow fly and then watched the lighted nocks skip right off his.
    Not knowing what happened, right away I looked at the edge of the blind window and saw a small cut or the arrow had nicked it , just enough to deflect the arrow.
    The windows are those sort of upside down triangles if I had let him walk one or two more steps he would have been mine.
    I had a teeny bit of fat on the end of The arrow a little piece of skin and there was a lot of dark hair on the ground.
    I'm basically gave him a haircut nothing more.
    Maybe it happened for a reason as I know there are some bigger bucks on my farm.

    I haven't had any problems with my ground blind I shot a 10 point buck on a new hunting spot the day I set it up. That being said the earlier you put a pop up blind out the better just like a new stand. Put it up in july or August and the deer get time to get used to it

      My experience is that the does and young bucks get used to the popup blind pretty quick but the mature bucks stay clear of it. Which is why I have to brush it in really well or use the ghostblind. I know it’s different for everyone depending on where you hunt.

    • @ChadAlanJones
      @ChadAlanJones  6 месяцев назад

      It really depends on how pressured the deer are in your area and how well you brush it in. If you can conceal it well enough you will probably be fine but if and the deer see it they will probably avoid it.

    • @jamessargent9869

    Hey Chad. I've killed deer out of a ground blind made of camo burlap and put up months before the season opened but answer a question for me please. Can you walk in at 5:00 AM, pop one up and just hunt or is that a waste of time? I'm sure having it set up weeks b4 you hunt it is the way to go but ever though I have 20 or so fixed tree stands sometimes a spot just begs to be hunted.

    • @ChadAlanJones
      @ChadAlanJones  3 года назад +2

      Moldering One I wouldn’t recommend putting a pop up blind out and hunting from it that same day unless you place it in a really thick area and brush it in extremely well and at that point you have put tons of scent in the area by walking around cutting limbs to brush it in. Plus the blind itself will have scent unless you have kept it outside already. Situations like that I prefer the ghostblind because I can carry it in with me and set it up in a spot that I like without a need to brush it in. Plus if the wind changes directions I can quickly move it to another location compared to the pop up that I would have to move and brush in again. Mature deer will always notice something that looks out of place so I would go with the option that is the hardest to see. Hope that helps!

    In Pennsylvania we have to place a blaze orange cover on the top of our pop-up ground blinds. Kind of takes away the inconspicuousness of the blind.

    • @ChadAlanJones
      @ChadAlanJones  2 года назад +1

      Ohhh man… that’s not good. I would at least place some leaves and small limbs one the top to help break up the pattern. That way other hunters can still see it but can help conceal the profile from the deer. Good luck!

    How long would it take for deer to become more comfortable with the presence of a blind in an area that has not been hunted for over a decade?

    • @ChadAlanJones
      @ChadAlanJones  2 года назад

      If you are planning to use a pop up blind then just make sure you brush it in really well and the deer will get used to it pretty fast. It you just sit it out in the open then it may take a while and mature bucks may not come back around it at all.
