do what I did. when grandma passed away and I was cleaning out her house, I found the perfect ground blind chair in her bathroom. it was her aluminum and plastic shower chair. it has adjustable legs and a back rest. now when I sit in comfort in My deer blind I think a lot about grandma. thanks grandma I love you.
Great timing for this video. I've been through the same thing and I've sat on everything from camp stools to 5 gallon buckets. What I decided on was a good quality camp chair with a backrest and a 17 inches seat height. Working perfectly in my blind. Hope this helps
I used this blind for deer hunting this season ruclips.net/user/postUgkxvlQxmcZQzSQSYbJsEgAGvG2DaduKTV99 and will use it again for turkey this coming April 19'. The only common sense thing I recommend is wear all black to cover your upper body considering the inside of the blind is black and dont open unnecessary windows to silhouette yourself. Other then that, spray some water proof spray on the seams and roof. Dont forget your comfy chair, happy hunting.
If you are like me and setup your blinds and leave them all season, then an old office chair is perfect! I got one at my office building by the dumpster that didn't raise anymore. It's actually perfect height for my blind. It swivels and tilts, makes no noises at all, and has adjustable arm heights and widths. I left the wheels on it and haven't had any trouble at all. This one is all mesh material too so it doesn't hold water from wind driven rain either and has less chance for odors. I've sat in mine from dark to dark! Trust me, you won't regret it!
I built my own blind & made the windows the right height for an office chair. Now I sit in absolute comfort while having a great view. I can't see how those super low chairs are comfortable for long periods of time.
I use a folding/adjustable tripod chair. It has a 360 deg. swivel seat and independently adjustable legs. the adjustable legs are great for uneven ground (which is great for me because i don't sit on flat farm ground), the height is adjustable from about 10-18 inches. the one thing most might find as a con is that it does not have a back rest on the seat. i found this to be a plus since i shoot a bow and i don't have any issues with any part of my body bumping a back rest while i draw and hold. it was about 20 bucks a hand full of years ago but it works great.
Like another guy mentioned, get a Millenium G100 blind chair. Adjustable, good on uneven ground, quiet and light. It has a back rest so its way more comfortable than a 5 gallon bucket. They're pricey but not amortized over the decades of use you'll get out of it. I'm too old not to have awesome stuff!
I've used the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket and a regular camping chair with arm rests. Camping chair is more comfortable and just the right height for a ground bind.
I'm 60 years old, and I never hunted with a bow until last year. I made so many rookie mistakes. I have a Sportmans Guide swivel hunting chair and I like it, but I wasn't comfortable taking a shot while sitting so I stood up, and my arrow glanced off one of the poles in the window of my hub blind. The other mistake was since I had hunted this property before and never seen a deer within range, I only brought one broadhead. I sat there for nearly two hours with deer sometimes walking right up to the window but I couldn't shoot for lack of a broadhead. I'm fixing to do a little practicing this morning and make sure that I have all I need and don't screw up. Wish me luck.
So I love that you are trying to build the better mousetrap like myself . I have finally got the best in a box blind now I’m trying to perfect the portable blind. My suggestion is to get a comfortable chair and dig down the legs on the chair. This way you have the comfort n height. Now I’m looking for a fold up table for inside my blind
I take a folding shovel with me and dig out for each leg of my chair to get the perfect height and get the chair level. I hunt in the Georgia mountains and rarely ever setup on level ground.
A comfortable chair is key to staying in the blind. If I’m setting up a blind for the entire season or it’s a permanent box blind the only way to go is an office chair. It the blInd has a wood floor I leave the wheels on. If it’s going in a pop up with dirt I take the wheels of and attach a piece of plywood in place of the wheels. It’s a pain the lug out to the woods but it allows me to be comfortable
I use a regular folding chair, like you would use at camp or fishing. Has a cup holder and very comfortable. Folds up and has a carrying case. I just picked up a new one for 5 dollars
I am 66 and a big man, 6'2 and 300 lbs. I found if I use my large dog house, I have to use a small chair or box and after a hour or so my knees are hurting. So I bought a 5x5 pull out, pop up tent, with higher windows. I tried folding chairs, but the make too much noise, and hard to get up when nature calls. So I just toke a lawn chair, non folding with no arms. I made little inserts with 2x2 medal feet and glue them into the bottom of each leg. It is a little awkward to caring to the blind, but it is quite, and I can sit all day or take a little nap, and I am really concealed, and it is great to be able to lean back and not sink into the ground.
I have had good luck with the Cabela’s original 360 blind chair. It’s the perfect height, the swivel is silent and the back is high enough for a comfortable all day sit.
I actually have used a bow target, works great. We are going to build a platform that will allow us to set our ground blind right on it and use an office chair.
I have a similar problem with my Primos double wide x large door blind. The windows are too low. I also use the Huntmore chair and although it is adjustable, I cannot see out the windows. I put 4x4 chunks under each leg of the tent and it raises it up just right. Of course my tent is in a permanent position.
A personal favorite ! My old "Gander Mountain" version even has a folding back rest. Which ever one you get glue or put a screw through the rubber/plastic caps on the bottom of the legs so they don't pull off after sticking in the mud.
I got a memory foam computer chair took the wheels off and use it as my chair for my blind cause its comfortable and can lower the seat and raise it quietly. But then again i have a 5 to 6 person blind and when I hunt im by my self and have a cooler with lunch and drinks and pull a all day sit
if you get a benchmaster ground blind chair and take the tri-pod legs off and put that plastic kitcher stool or step on it with a hole in the middle and a couple of metal plates with holes in the middle you can use that cause the chair seat has a gun rest or crossbow rest on it.
I use a computer chair with memory foam and with the jack ti rise thr chair up and down works great pulled the wheels off cut some scrap wood drill hole through the legs then screw I to the wood where it sits level. Works great can spin around quietly even raise my chair up or lower makes a real comfortable chair for long sits in the deer blind especially the spin around quietly makes it over all best chair for ground blind
Small rotating office chair... ($00.00)found it on neighborhood dump ally...still in use for years now. Killed plenty of deer in my DYI Scrappy blind too. used chair fits and works amazing inside the blind, nothing finer lol. I like to save money while hunting or maintaining its needs... I'm not really the kind of guy to be shopping for the perfect blind chair. good luck and good hunting
Try the low back turkey hunting chair I am 6ft 6 and it was hard to find a chair to let me sit low enough to see out of my blind but the chair has longer legs in the front short in the back so when ur sitting in it it's kind of a lean and it takes the stress away from your back
Dollar General sells a small fold up step stool that’s 9” high and 9x12” seat area. About $8. Might be just what you need. Folds and slides into backpack.
Something that few people speak about in their reviews is the need to answer Nature's call... I will be 71 years old this 2019 deer season and hunt from ground blinds in Oklahoma. The older I get, the smaller my tank gets so my blind equipment always includes a jug to pee in. I also have a portable poop'n stool that fits over a 5 gallon bucket lined with a trash bag, kitty litter and tight fitting lid. Of course these items then need to be generously sprayed with a good quality scent killer and a shot of doe urine just for good measure. A pack of sanitizing hand wipes is the finishing touch.
"hunt more" chairs out of michigan are the ticket. I'm 52 and like my back rest when needed. It is silent and each leg is adjustable for uneven terrain. It's lite and mobile. It also swivels which I like. Another option if terrain allows is to dig your floor down which I'll do if the ground allows and you don't have or don't want to change chairs.
Take and make one like a field bog legs and a square seat that comes with memory foam seat cushion..i have back issues and fibromyalgia I have the triangle seat it killed me last 2 days..so we gonna try a small bench with pillows..all nice chairs are so expensive..not everyone cam afford $79om Amazon for comfy hunting chair..
Wonder if you took a light office chair and took the wheels off, may be a bit large to carry but if your blind is staying in one spot the whole season then it may be worth lugging one out, especially if the raise and lower
If you leave the blind up all season, what I do is dig a hole and set the chair. I have used old office chairs but I think I’ll be getting heated swivel hunting chairs.
My floor legged swivel chair that folds is excellent. The legs adjust for any height, in any direction. That chair never comes out of my blind, In fact I could sit in it all day just watching the wild life pass me by
They also have mini tripod fishing chairs that folds up to the size of an umbrella, I bought some at a local flea market but I'm sure they're on Amazon.
Yes its a bot of a pia to get em around But.... i took a swivel bar stool with a backrest ( silent swivel) and cut it down to the height i wanted.... and if needed i make a little trench to put the chair in .... get a seat pad for walmart for $4... i leave it there all season and use my game cart to shlep everything to my locations ...
Another option is to raise the blind a few inches on blocks. Most blinds have a 6" skirt or so on the bottom that will still keep scent contained within the blind. If you like staking the blind, use longer stakes, pounded in at a sharper angle. That way you don't have to pull the edge of the blind all the way down. The problem I have with shorter chairs is it's not very comfortable for me to sit with my knees higher than my hips. By raising the blind I can sit on a taller chair and still have decent visibility\shooting options.
I just bought my first ground blind (field and Stream Magnum) and every blind there, the windows look to all be the same height...to accommodate a typical camp chair. I'm 5'11" and a typical camp chair puts me eye level with the middle of my windows. As far as being on a hill....why? I'd either be at the top making sure the blind isn't sky lined or in a tree stand of some type, probably a climber type.
Huge problem, even bigger problem is trying to get up from a low slung chair, especially when your older. They need to make the windows a little taller in the blind..
I noticed that about my chair on my ghost blind sometimes you are not level. I guess we can cut a little off the legs if not we can I guess start using kids chairs lol 😂
Your problem is not your hunting blind chair, it's your hunting blind. Find one that has better Window placement and adjustment. But if you insist on keeping this blind, remember there are many other hunting blind chairs available.
I use this. Might not go as low, but the swivel feature is real nice if you expect your target to come from more than I shooting lane: www.amazon.com/Ameristep-AMEFT1002-Tripod-Swivel-Stool/dp/B078Y4G9BM

I use a five gallon pale to. Haul bait in and use it to sit on upside down. Or upright if I have to piss
Old message but brother that’s about the coolest story ever🤟🏻

What did you use on the ground in your blind? My feet froze all dang winter hunting!! Lol
If ya don't mind packn one in, i use an old office chair. They can be adjusted up n down, back or forward and they swivel.

I use a five gallon bucket. Stackable for hight adjustment and I can use them to help carry gear when setting up or breaking down.
I don’t know if you have upgraded but Death by Bunjie got him a cool lil bench in his blind.

60 here too and a rookie. just started using a ground blind this year. trying to find a chair and make better setup choices. good luck

I CARRY A LITTLE HAND HELD SHOVEL (LIKE YA USE IN THE GARDEN) AND DIG HOLES FOR MY CABELA'S SWIVEL 360 CHAIR LEGS AND SINK EM AS FAR DOWN AS I NEED.

Turkey chairs work good in the dog house style blinds a d others depending on if your facing down hill

Saw a few comments but old office chairs rock!
They make those small fold up stool that has a pouch for carring stuf and has a strap so you can carry it around your neck

You can also make some PVC extensions for the corners to hold them up a few inches.
I just got done making mine pretty comfy.

It’s an old video but I have the same problem. I found the kids size fold up camping chairs are the perfect size. 😃

I use a plastic milk crate and a Therm-A-SEAT I'm 6'2 and is just the right height for me .
Try a three prong turkey stool!! Use them all the time for hunting and fishing..
Wise Outdoors Super Sport Hunting Seat with Insulated Cooler

I took a metal folding chair and cut about 4-6in off each leg, this year will be the 3rd season of using it
Thats a great idea, might be a little tough packing though!
@@raisedhunting strap it to the backpack, or sling your gun on your shoulder and carry it. They are light
5 gallon bucket works perfect
Wonder if you took a light office chair and took the wheels off, may be a bit large to carry but if your blind is staying in one spot the whole season then it may be worth lugging one out, especially if the raise and lower
That's exactly what I use, with the wheels on still and it works great!
Bale blinds are the way to go. Hub blinds no mater how good I camo it the deer glare at it. All season. Bales they walk right by
i have been thinking of using a bean bag. I have the same problem and this may work perfect
don't do it ... ; ) .... you'll be fighting sleep the whole time ... at least that's what would happen to me.
I think it would be noisy and hard to get into position for a shot. ....but comfortable, lol
If you leave the blind up all season, what I do is dig a hole and set the chair. I have used old office chairs but I think I’ll be getting heated swivel hunting chairs.
My floor legged swivel chair that folds is excellent. The legs adjust for any height, in any direction. That chair never comes out of my blind, In fact I could sit in it all day just watching the wild life pass me by
What kind of chair is it and where can I get one
There's a chair on Amazon, it's made by Browning, if you look up Browning Strutter Chair on there it's sits about 6-8 inches off the ground.

I’m a fabricator. So I’m building one this year. I’ll try to take a photo and share
not sure on the brand name, but they make a folding stool like that kitchen step for turkey hunting
Hello; Where do you get the quilted carpet? Thank you
That's a moving blanket from harbor freight.
i use a shower chair that i got at a yard sale lol
Office chair lol I have the same problem
I just bought my first ground blind (field and Stream Magnum) and every blind there, the windows look to all be the same height...to accommodate a typical camp chair. I went to Walmart and got a 27$ ground blind swivel chair, folds up,has carry strap,on top of that I have a thermo seat.
They D0 make collapsible plastic stepstools !
The moving blanket as carpeting is ingenious !
Huge problem, even bigger problem is trying to get up from a low slung chair, especially when your older. They need to make the windows a little taller in the blind..
I got what you need!!!.....some expensive cheese for that wine ;)
try a magazine folding step stool.
Right on about the chair!!!!!!!!
I noticed that about my chair on my ghost blind sometimes you are not level. I guess we can cut a little off the legs if not we can I guess start using kids chairs lol 😂
You could do that! There is actually some chairs that have adjustable legs. That would certainly solve the problem!
A full size chair is what I use it’s just a regular folding chair
Try using a old office chair, remove the legs and its 360 up and down🏹
Primos turkey/predator wingman chair they have them on eBay 50$
I just cut 2"off the bottom of the legs.
Millennium G100 swivel chair made for ground blinds. Had one for years now. Nuff said....

Your problem is not your hunting blind chair, it's your hunting blind. Find one that has better Window placement and adjustment.
But if you insist on keeping this blind, remember there are many other hunting blind chairs available.
use a swivel chair I use that so I can see around the blind and if I want I can raise it up and see out better
Maybe your blind windows are too short ?
Rei has short back packing chairs...
sit farther back in the blind might help
