Well yes and no if I recall correctly.
It was also a very stupidly made parcours with a bend and narrowing barriers.
Making it hard to judge back then.
This is a 100% relegation. I don’t understand these pundits. The rules state deviation + endangering. And for good reason look at Jakobsen.
Wout was still half alongside. Yes he was out of steam. Yes he had no chance to win. But that doesn’t give Jasper the right to drive him either into the barrier or brake off.
      That’s endangering that’s a relegation. Good decision.

Last stage Cavendish can clearly be seen checking behind him to see if anyone is in that space before moving left. Philpsen on the other hand just followed him blindly at least partly contributing to Pedersen's crash. Guy's a constant menace. He should be thankful that he was only relegated.

  • @rayrussell6258
    @rayrussell6258 8 дней назад

I disagree with the analyst assessment who said Philipsen was "moving in front" and therefore analyst felt moving over was "borderline"; Wout saw that JP was pinching him, and backed off pedaling ....... THEN Philipsen completed the pinch over to barrier, as he has done in the past. Wout immediately complained in a post race interview about Philipsen's repeated tactic in that situation, meaning Wout saw early what was coming and was forced to slow up. If the path had remained clear, Wout would have likely completed the pass and maybe even won the stage.
Wout is normally generous to competitors in post race interviews. The fact that he outwardly complained about it in this case shows that something (like a penalty) had to be done.

I'm not a fan of Jasper but I've seen a lot of sprinters did the same thing before. He's already ahead.

Biniam Ghirmay is the cleanest sprinter even if he got a little bit distance l, he would have won today, he was that much close to Jasper dirty and the other guy.

Last year he did it twice to Bini

I love that Robbie McEwen had to explain why Philipsen gets relegated and Cav didn’t for a much more egregious deviation.
Cav did ride across the path of other riders and block their acceleration to the line, but the fact is the outcome of the stage was already agreed upon.
Cav would get his 35th tour stage, so he couldn’t be relegated and interfere with the normal running of future sprint stages.
That’s why you haven’t seen Cav near the finish in any of the other sprints, he’s can’t compete at that level anymore, unless the sprint is wrapped in a bow by ASO.
    Cav’s 2024 TDF sprint results:
    1🎁, 19th, 88th,124th, 18th
People are asking what happened to all his speed and power, they’re realizing it was a complete scam!

3:44 You're totally wrong ... he needs to keep his line. Full stop. Period.

Ironically, as Lanterne Rouge ponts out, had Jasper simply gone STRAIGHT, he would have won the stage. Jasper's sideway deviation gave Groenewagen a 5cm victory.

Cav pushed 2 guys out of the way and crossed the entire road from right to left. There are rules but they need to be enfirced on everyone at all times. Last year Jasper got two wins with queationable sprints, this year Cav got one. WVA- zero

finally! a great call by the TDF judges. Does this mean Biniam takes 2nd place? i think BG is the guy to watch on these flats stages

Personally I think they knew they should have taken action against him last year. So they have waited for the very first thing he does wrong this year to make a point that riding like this wont be accepted
