    We all know it's racing, but people's lives and careers are at stake. It's bad enough with muppets stepping out into the road and taking videos for their mums, or selfie idiots, but the one rider that really must get a grip is Jasper The Disaster. He's either got a screw loose or he's deliberately putting others at risk to gain his own advantage at any cost. Competition should be competitive, but there should also be due respect for fellow competitors, Jasper Philipsen clearly doesn't care about it - so maybe a few more relegations, fines and bans will make him heed the advice that I'm sure many have given him.

    • @joelecho

      The worst part of that is that I can remember 3 times where he would have caused one already if not for the rider sitting up. Wout today and in stage 3 last year gets crashed out heavy if he doesn't sit up (or has to dump Jasper on his ass to protect himself) and if I'm not mistaken, Bini had to sit up or be crashed out hard in last year's tour, too.
      Plus, in a dozen other races he has done it, I'm sure. Those are just 3 that come to mind in the first 5 seconds. I hope that a) commisares actually have the guts to keep relegating him for this stuff, and that b) enough lost results finally teach him his lesson.

    • @nonamenoname246
      @nonamenoname246 2 дня назад

      I may not understand the term "pinching off", but I think it would be ok to accelerate past a rider on your right and just at one bike length pinch off the rider you just passed, moving in front of that rider you passed- if that is at the barrier, then that defeats the rider you just passed plus denies your wheel to someone else coming fast behind you. (that is kind of what Cavendish did legally the prior stage when he won his sprint, going so far to his left (granted not using the barrier). Jasper might have felt he had way more speed than Van Aert, but then Jasper should have proved it and not started pinching off Van Aert way before Jasper finished passing him, which I agree should be illegal. Lanterne says Jasper could have just gone straight and beat Van Aert and Dylan with speed,, also if Jasper wanted to legally pinch off riders, why didn't Jasper just move left to pinch off the friendly MVP and use MVP for blocking keeping riders off Jasper's wheel?

    You could argue Pedersen went down because of Philipsen yesterday. The tour would be so much better without Philipsen in it.

    • @nonamenoname246
      @nonamenoname246 2 дня назад +1

      How did Philipsen cause Pederson crash? I could not see but guessed that when Cavendish moved way to the left in front of other riders (legally I assume because he was just far enough (a bike length?) ahead of those other riders on he left side who he had just passed with speed), Cavendish moving left caused a minor havoc on the left side behind Cavendish that then caused Pederson to crash a few bikes back. Or was Philipsen back there behind Cavendish near Pederson causing the crash?

    • @otowncolby
      @otowncolby 2 дня назад +4

      @@nonamenoname246 Watch the last 100 meters in slow motion. Cav does swing left a little, but Jasper swings left all the way from the middle of the right lane to jump on Cav's wheel. I would assume this caused a reaction from the rider who was behind Cav, and immediately Pedersen goes down behind that rider. That's what it looks like to me.

    There has to be a threshold after which dangerous riding becomes counterproductive from a PR point of view. A certain dose of dangerous riding is probably worth the risk, Alpecin Tour '23 is the proof . But too much of it and you might become an hated rider, sponsor might not be keen to associate their image to you. Go ask Moscon, apparently when Lefevre signed him up, he got a call from Specialized

    finally… tbh, as he did this countless times and got a warning that very morning they could have disqualified him. Btw, Cavendish also has caused too many crashes with his behavior without being penalized (stage 5, Bauhaus relegated and Cavendish not… what???) - there are clear rules and the commissairs should judge all the same
