Many more dead than those two. Riding a bike is dangerous.
I doubt UCI can make all the races finish on the top of the hill because some people can die while descending...
They could push for more security (airbags like motorbike riders maybe), but for example freezing the times between the top and the bottom of the hill seem a bit too much in my opinion. Some riders are descending within their abilities, some others are playing with their life.
It is exactly the same for amateurs (watch them descend the Ventoux for example, cutting corners on open roads...)? Adrenaline makes you dumb in some way.

6:52 Phillipsen had to put a lot of effort just before this frame to find Binis wheel, basically a pre-sprint. I think this was the effort that cost him the win. Because in the end he gets caught in the last few meters.
6:33 this is the clip before his sprint, he gets passed by the white guy, puts in the watts to get in fornt again, in Girmays wheel and then launches his final sprint, where the strength is missing.

Surely there should be a debate in cycling about neutralizing descents?
The other option is to make protective clothing obligatory (like in descent MTB).
Formula 1 used to have a death rate like road cycling today.
They made the cars safer … the « tech » already exists for road cycling (from other cycling disciplines).
When will pride and tradition yield to common sense?

Does anyone know why the Cofidis guys gave Girmay a leadout? Is this some sort of anti-Philipsen alliance in the entire peloton, or is there just some friendship between Cofidis and Intermarché or the drivers?

It probably wasn't intentional. Cofidis just went too early like Lanterne said.

Jasper threw his bike so far out and Bini took another pedal stroke, but it sort of looked like Jaspers gear selection may have been his downfall.

Jasper the disaster can't do anything to Bini when it comes one to one
The only thing that Jasper the disaster uses is block block and block without block he is useless 😅

Why the F**** is De Lie sprinting on the hoods? He just added 1-200w of aero drag. Overall, the sprinters positions are not great. No wonder Cav can beat 'em despite being down on power. It's amazing how they geek out on TT head positions, but when it comes to the sprints...

@@GoingUp-cg6wl Benjamin/Biniam was the youngest son of Jacob's 12 sons. The name Biniyam is a boy's name meaning "son of the right hand". This variation of Biblical Benjamin is used in Eritrea and Ethiopia only. FYI Eritreans are the first Christians and posses the oldest bible.
