It’s nice that every thing you don’t like can be fixed through software. How quickly is another issue but at least they can be fixed.

There are a number of things this "base" premium car should have come with, the Polestar name makes you think sportier than Volvo however, this isn't the case here. It should have come with more power and torque (320HP/330 lb ft - 240kW/450N.m would be nice) from a single rear motor, adaptive Sport suspension, Brembo brakes, 12 speaker H/K audio system with sub woofer (upgrade should be the B&O system) and it should be efficient to be provide 330-350 miles EPA , real world driving range. The AWD with Performance Pack @ 279 miles should get the same RWD motor in a "Polestar tuned" version to output more power, while giving you slightly less range (when used) and have the speed limit raised to 140MPH/220KMH, you know, for when you want to go flat out on the autobahn or some track. :)
This would make most people (Volvo owners/fans) happy with getting a Polestar vehicle, the current base car should be a later addition or be 1 of 3 trim levels and priced lower. Imagine if it was selling for @$35K (somewhere there) like it is priced in China, adding a sport pack and upgraded audio would be what a lot of folks that like driving would probably go for. The again, we may see some tuners popping up to add parts and power tweaks in the future. That will be interesting to see.

Comparing the wipers with a Teslas is pretty funny, as the auto wipers in a Tesla is the worst i have ever seen. Also, you can't even change the intensity of the wipers in auto mode in a Tesla, so your comparison does not makes sense. I am 100 % sure, that the wipers function better in the Polestar 4 than in my Tesla.

I realy wonder what the reason about the lousy auto-wiper control in Teslas, not that I don‘t believe complainers.
In my MY it works perfect since day one. Maybe camera calibration makes a difference.
Btw, since about 2 updates ago, the wiperspeed can be adjusted also in auto mode, just by pressing the wiper button and the left scrollwheel.

@@karla6999Ive had 2 model 3’s and the wipers have never worked properly! Maybe it’s a ‘3’ issue?? They don’t use the usual Bosch infra red ‘total internal reflection’ style sensors and rely on software to interpret what the camera sees. As a consequence they are too ‘dumb’ and also don’t seem to work at all at night. Cameras are definitely not a great way to go in cars, especially in countries with bad weather.

HI Kris, I already drove 3 Polestar 4's (SM, DM and Performance) and I agree on your comments. As I hate lane assistant and lane change systems anyway, I just never use them (apart from AAC) I don't care myself too much about the real safety problems they cause, even if a prompt reaction from Polestar is obviously needed. I also agree on the terrible quality of the standard sound system. People should really avoid this if they care een a bit about sound quality. Difficult to accept for a car of this price. The other things you mention are minor niggles, which can be fixed.
Other negative things I noted : the sound of the google assistant lady and telephone conversation is bad, even on the better sound system. The information of ETA etc on Google maps is hidden by your hand on the steering wheel. It should be placed elsewhere. The small display on the steering wheel is much smaller than on the PS2, so not as easy to see the navigation. I come back by the positive evaluation. A lot to say!

Hi there, great and honest review. Thank you for that. I watched many reviews of PS4 and none mentioned the constant low frequency motor / battery electric humming that is inside the cabin. Have you experienced it?

  • @troeste-x3g

Tested the Polestar 4 earlier this week and noticed the delay when engaging the pilot. Very uncomfortable when using one pedal mode. Another irritating detail about the autopilot is that you have to engage the pilot using the haptic button on the steering wheel which is difficult to hit. As far as I know, the Polestar 2 and 3 uses the gear stalk to engage the pilot in the same way as on a Tesla. On my Tesla Y, I use the autopilot 99% of the time, so engaging the pilot is one the most used actions. The gear stalk is always in reach of my hand and is far easier to hit than the silly haptic buttons.
If you are able to talk to the Polestar engineers, please ask them to update the software to engage/disengage the pilot using the gear stalk in addition to the steering wheel buttons.
Apart from the pilot engage problems, I loved the car!
