NOTIFICATION SQUAD: Where did Natsuki's pirate pants go?! Genuinely, it was utterly bizarre. But still not as insane as his cover of Bon Jovi in the bath tub.
🍿🍿🍿Just to point out, I don't want to make it seem like I'm trivialising a fear of flying. I do have one that's been steadily worsening over the years, though when you live in Japan, you don't have much choice to get over it when flying home. In a strange way, the Cessna did actually help, as one of the key fears is the turbulence and honestly, I've never endured such a turbulent flight.
But I hope you enjoyed the first action packed episode of Journey Across Japan: The Lost Islands! The series continues next week! 🍿🍿🍿
A pair of pirate pants just appeared in the middle of the Bermuda triangle.
natsuki is awesom
Just woke up
I can't say thank you for the indirect birthday gift because this came out a day later... Of course, things happen but regardless, I'm looking forward to the series!
(For those who might be confused, yesterday was my birthday and this episode of JAJ was supposed to release yesterday but technical issues happened. Hence, I wanted to thank Chris for the indirect birthday gift.)
Popcorn ready. Let's go!
So we finally found out the reason why Chris never left Japan, its not that he loves it, he just doesn't want to get on a plane again.
He could row off if he really wanted lol
@@spicybeantofu Last time an Englishman was on a boat something bad happened. Plus he’s too lazy.
You can definitely see the terror in his eyes. Doing this takes proper balls. Well done, Chris!
Boat? 🤔🤣
A boat? This dude doesn’t even like moving along on a horse!!!
"Is it safe? This plane?"
"Should be"
That guy is a legend.
Now i want to fly the same route and ask him this question.
Chris: “scary”
Pilot: “enjoy!”
Now that's a bloke I'd like to buy a beer, he's funny as, but professional to boot.
BARTENDER: How do you take your drink Natsuki?
NATSUKI: Bon Jovi style! Wowwow wowowowow!
For some reason read the wow parts in Korone's voice. I've been brainwashed

@@grimsladeleviathan3958 YUP same here.
Yooo cz how are you?
Found the tube looking like a talk-box reference to Bon Jovi to be very clever. He's like y'all too young for this. Haha
“3 islands, 3 idiots.” I’m already sold. 😂😂😂 Also the dramatic shots of Natsuki were golden. 🙌🏼
it looks like a scene from a blade runner spin off
Can't believe Natsuki lost his pants at a Unesco World Heritage Site. People are gonna find those pants hundreds of years from now and think it's a historical artifact.
"Think" it's a historical artifact??? Anything that has been through this journey with Natsuki is definitely a legendary artifact for the ages!
“Wow I can’t believe we’ve found evidence that pirates visited Japan!”
Researchers on a documentary in the future "And we believe these trousers were in fact given to the great waterfall as part of some ancient and primitive ritual."
@@fat1fared I love how your name is Grey Fox, and Chris mentioned Metal Gear Solid in the video xD
Oh god I misread that as "parents"
Natsuki is basicly a walking human content machine! Lovely chap
He is one of those rare type of humans🤣
Dang.
he really is the "second" best thing about this channel.
Chris cold just have an episode just about him and i'm sure most of his fans would watch it.
@@Elunvira He does, Natsuki has his own documentary about him

"BON JOVI STYLE"
"I don't know what he's on about"
I know exactly what's he's on about. Natsuki is referring to a talkbox, an electronic sound effects pedal that can be used with electric guitars and also electric keyboards. It uses a rubber tube (similar to the water hose he's holding) to combine mouthed words/noises with the sound of the instrument. This effect was used in Bon Jovi songs such as "Living On A Prayer" and "It's My Life".
Exactly
@@Stinger913 yep. #FunFact #Natsuki #TooMuchVolcano
Holy shit, I’ll never doubt Natsuki’s genius again.
The more you know
Exactly.
Now I know Chris' videos have a high quality BBC documentary, travel show vibes to it but I don't think anyone would approve someone as unpredictable and weird as Natsuki for TV. That's why these videos stand out from rest of the standard shows and I can't emphasise how much of a gem Natsuki is to Abroad in Japan.
In this episode, Chris gets over his fear of flying while Joey develops one.
Gotta balance it out somehow
Miles that is.
I'd say fear of turbulence is just kind of a lack of knowledge how planes operate, what they can withstand and how normal turbulence is.. I've had severe turbulence a few times, it was fun. The way I started learning about planes and how they are constructed and handle was when as a joke i started watching plane crash videos before my flights lol, after a while, you start to learn what to really worry about and what is completely normal
@@PastLight I actually have started having bad flying anxiety thanks to turbulence. I know it's normal and that not a single plane has ever come down thanks to turbulence, but irrational thoughts are quite pervasive.
Feels like you were going for a top gear-esque intro. “In today’s episode, Chris looks at a tree, Joey almost dies in a plane ride, and Natsuki loses his trousers”
Pirated Away: The Mysterious Disappearance of Natsuki's Pants
Gold
With a Bon Jovi bath 🛀 😂
damn, thats good.
ah yes, a ghibli reference
Chris goes to great lengths to see Natsuki naked it seems 😉
Natsuki is a rare combination of chaotic and wholesome energy.
Somebody's probably mentioned it already, but Natsuki's imitating a talkbox, a device that lets you modulate sound waves with the shape of your mouth by putting a plastic tube inside it. The tube runs to a device connected to your keyboard/guitar and an amplifier, and the result is that your instrument sounds like it's talking. The tube he's holding looks exactly like a talkbox tube -- same size, probably same material, just opaque instead of clear. It's used for the voice-like guitar riff in Livin on a Prayer, hence Bon Jovi.
Different word for vocoder?
@@kricku good question! They’re actually totally different. A vocoder is entirely electronic - it takes one input from your instrument and another input from your voice (via a microphone) and returns output that makes your voice sound like that instrument. A talkbox has a mechanical component - your mouth. It uses the physical shape of the inside of your mouth to make the instrument sound like your voice.
@@benscomments1432 now I get it. That's super interesting.
So does the talk box blow like, guitar noise into your mouth and you sing with that, or do you just sing through the tube into an amp and the magic happens there?
I did watch some videos but it wasn't clear.
Edit: that's quite the response time on a basically necro'd comment, btw 😛
Edit edit: that's a redundant question now that I think about it.
Natsuki: gets epic high quality intro
Joey: sup bruh
Natsuki really pulled that advertisement aesthetic just to end up screaming some overdramatic english on the phone... I love absolutely everything about it
Tonight,
Chris gets over his fear of flying,
Joey visits a tree,
and Natsuki loses his trousers.
So f*cking crazy good!
I read that in Jeremy Clarkson's voice
*Topgear music starts playing*
Bo'om geah
The best comment I have ever seen
6:20 fun fact the pilot is actually checking the plane’s fuel sump here to make sure there is no water in the planes fuel tanks, it is an important part of the pre flight routine.
Every pilot worth their wings does their preflight every time, and they do it right.
That guy probably knows which scratch in the paint is the largest, and what caused it.
@@CodyRPierce "I know every inch of this plane like the back of my han- hey that's new. Huh."
@@scottwpilgrim robots reference, nice.
Where did he get the idea that a cessna is dangeous lol. They are a dream to fly a child could do it. I've literally been instructed to deliberately power-on stall that airplane and failed to do it (it just kept flying at a high angle).
As long as the weather is nice, and it looks nice, they're in no danger.
@@thevictoryoverhimself7298 He himself said that they're safe but that his logic was overriden by fear.
That first segment with Natsuki looking sad whilst pondering life was incredibly shot and 'acted' (if it was acted haha). This channel is absolutely amazing. Thanks a lot for all the hard work and fantastic content.
I read the title as "I flew Japan's most dangerous airplane" and got very worried for a second.
That would be legitimate cause for concern

When a single RUclipsr makes 100 times better stuff than any Hollyweird or tv studio nowadays.
Agreed. I especially love the variety of shots & the scene edits are so well paced!
Honestly, this 100%. I came down to the comments just to upvote this if it wasn't here yet.
Can't imagine the logistics and work behind this...
Not gonna lie, you guys have original Top Gear levels of chemistry and it's amazing to watch.
After that opening sequence someone needs to crowdfund a black and white movie where Natsuki plays a hard boiled detective
Gintama reference?
That is a great idea! The opening sequence had me dying but I can see Natsuki as a detective
"Top 100? Not even top 10?" - every Asian moms questioning about their children's results.
Asian kid: "Mom.... do you love me?"
Asian mom: "Study hard.... and then you will receive my love."

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The cinematography alone is so far beyond the average RUclips channel's standards, it's ridiculous how good your videos are getting. It's been a wild journey to watch you and your channel grow from the video of you playing that flip the table game to this is mind blowing man. Proud to be along for the ride keep at it my friend.
I'm not even done watching this yet but the whole opening sequence with Natsuki was just amazing. The cinematography, tone, the lights... And then contrast that with Natsuki's just zany over the top response... Chef's kiss.
Is anyone else gonna mention Chris' amazing cinematography when Natsuki was shutting down the shop??? Those camera angles were golden
As was Natsuki's acting.
@@melb4161 acting?
@@labtec514 he was living it.... Truly a method a actor
30:45 What Natsuki's doing actually makes sense. In the intro of Livin' on a Prayer from Bon Jovi, the weird vocal effect is done through an effect called a Talkbox. To operate a Talkbox, you need to basically sing into a plastic hose-like tube, which Natsuki is mimmicking at this timestamp.
They use it in It's My Life too, and probably other songs.
I got it too! Lol 👏🏻
A man of culture
"Natsuki the diva" is living on a prayer in a boiling pot of water 😁
Natsuki is a guitarist, he knows his stuff :)
I have so much respect for Natsuki. He runs his own business and is just a genuinlely nice guy who only wanted to make a foriegner feel welcome in Japan. If there's any reason to visit Japan it would be for a chance to bump into him ^^
It's fun that you at least got to experience a small plane, it's so much different how you can legitimately feel that you're floating on nothing, so excited Journey Across Japan is back
Cool
To quote Natsuki, this is gonna be "so f*cking crazy good."
I love the idea of Chris printing out photos of Joey and Natsuki just for this video lol
Flattering wallet sized pics too hehe
Oh please ... Chris did not print them out specially for this video. He took them down from his bedroom ceiling 😉
Good to see Norm was on the journey with you. He is always such a good camera man and is always conscientious of multiple cameras, views and shots. Glad to see he was able to join you yet again, though I wonder if he will ever be a guest on Journey Across Japan rather than the camera man? Anyhow, glad to see you handled the flight very well, honestly those planes are fun to fly in. I hope you didn't inhale to many sulfuric fumes, I love how the tables turned and scared Joey like that, he looked like he was going to mess himself. And yes, I am only halfway through the episode XP.

Natsuki didn’t lose his mind after his swim. He’s referring to a device Bon Jovi used in the the song “You Give Love A Bad A Name” called a talk box where you literally make noises into a tube
