I am working on getting my name changed in Ontario it should be simple lol but instead of taking 6 weeks it’s taken 5 months and my MPP to refill out my forms plus write letters on my behalf . I was born in Florida lived in Ontario Canada most of my life . I can change my Canadian ID but my papers from the states I won’t do it will cost a ton of money plus I need doctors to write letters and have surgery . I am on the wait list for top surgery I have three kids I can’t afford to do all what the state of Florida wants me to . But I have no reason to ever go to the states it shouldn’t be a problem .
I’m 4 months on T and haven’t legally changed my name yet because the process of changing everything seems so daunting it makes me want to give up on life lol
Love your work, though I am a little late viewing this video. Congratulations on the legal Name Change! Well Done! I am lucky being born in California, I was able to change my gender marker quite easily 2 years ago (I've been transitioning for about 3 years already). It just required completing a from (which I couldn't print, they had to send me their "special" form), a letter from my Endocrinologist and a $25 fee. It was quick and easy.....all done in a month's time. Recently, I petitioned for a legal name change in my county (in Michigan name changes are done by county and the rules are a little different for each county). The process is a bit convoluted....1st - I had to be fingerprinted in preparation for both a State Police and an FBI background check; once that was done, 2nd - I had to schedule a hearing; then 3rd - I had to publish in a newspaper the notice of my name change hearing, which must happen a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the hearing. I filed at the end April and my hearing is scheduled in the middle of July, just short of 3 months and the cost: $15 for the fingerprinting + $42 for the background checks + $6 for expedited postage + $185 to file the petition + $52 for publishing and + $30 for extra name change certificates.....totaling about $300, which doesn't include approximately $150 to have my Drivers License and Passport updated. It should be an interesting summer getting my name corrected on all my stuff. My legal name change is my gateway to transitioning at work. Finally, I will be my true self at work after the Labor Day holiday, yeah!
Hey I changed my name legally and recently updated my social security card info and they did say that my gender change was important to them. Not sure why but she was happy I told her about it and noted it in their system. Thought maybe you would want to know :) congratulations on the official name change!
I’m in Australia, I changed my last name and all I had to do was print out some forms, fill them out, send them to Births, Deaths and Marriages and pay a fee. They approve it over a few weeks and then they mail you your new birth certificate!
Daniel Joseph Rousseaux I’m in SA and I had to go through BD&M in NSW as that’s where I was born so it was a bit more difficult for me for my name change. I don’t need to change my marker so I’m not sure on that process.
Sofi Rustle To change your marker on your birth certificate in Victoria, you need gender affirmation surgery (which is rather loosely defined). Getting it changed on your passport and driver's licence only requires a letter from a medical professional.
Sofi Rustle Right!?! Some people are saying that they can get away with just having top surgery and other people say it means having a hysto... Top surgery is costly and getting a hysto through the public system means having to be ready to have it any time and it takes many weeks to recover (many people have been told 6 weeks).
In Canada on your driver's license you can put an "X" as your gender instead of M or F which is awesome! That's what I have at the moment until I get my gender marker legally changed
Thanks, Mack. This video was super helpful. I'm still a minor, so I'm not sure how things will be different for me, but I probably won't be able to legally change things until I'm an adult anyway. But you can be sure that I'll be coming back here for advice later on! 😊
I was about to comment (before the video started) "your real name is mack not your birth name" i didn't think you'd say mack then again of course no trans person i don't think would want the whole internet to know who you were as before they came out lol I'm going to just continue watching the video now
Me @ myself *reads title* "Mack?"
Dude you're videos are hilarious and I love your energy. Keep up the good work!
Your*

Same! Shame it's not so easy to get your birth marker changed though, at least in Victoria

Daniel Joseph Rousseaux oh that is so interesting. A bit rude that they require you to have surgery though!

Handsome Mac you look great in anything
Your voice aaaaa

Your birth certificate doesn't have to match your social security card and other important documents?
Great video, btw!

I was about to comment (before the video started) "your real name is mack not your birth name" i didn't think you'd say mack then again of course no trans person i don't think would want the whole internet to know who you were as before they came out lol I'm going to just continue watching the video now

What's fruit or food of the month?
No. Unfortunately you cannot change the gender on your birth certificate if you were born in the state you currently reside in.
