  • HDL stands for high-density lipoproteins. It is sometimes called the "good" cholesterol because it carries cholesterol from other parts of your body back to your liver. Your liver then removes the cholesterol from your body. LDL stands for low-density lipoproteins

    Thank you for this video, I have a question: What is the source of lecithin for the enzyme LCAT? from peripheral tissue or HDL?

    • @animatedbiologywitharpan
      @animatedbiologywitharpan  2 года назад

      LCAT is synthesized by the liver and secreted in plasma. It catalyzes the esterification of cholesterol in HDL and, to a lesser extent LDL.

    Great video, thank you for the effort! Just one important question - why does LDL deposit cholesterol in atherial wall?

    • @animatedbiologywitharpan
      @animatedbiologywitharpan  8 месяцев назад

      LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) particles can deposit cholesterol on artery walls because they carry cholesterol from the liver to cells and tissues. If there is an excess of LDL or if the LDL particles are damaged, they can be taken up by white blood cells in the artery wall, leading to the formation of fatty plaques. This accumulation can narrow the arteries and lead to atherosclerosis, increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

    • @animatedbiologywitharpan

      Increasing cardiac exercise will increase hdl as well . Main thing that matters is the hdl to ldl ratio. Ldl should be low and Hdl should be high
