I am so thankful this channel covered some of the conditions in Haiti. I work in the medical field and went to the Dominican Republic last year to provide medical services to poor communities (much of the DR isn’t much better off than Haiti) & on one of the days after we set up our clinic there was a Haitian woman that came in for vaginal bleeding and stomach cramps. It turned out that the week prior, she crossed the border into the DR and the border patrol detained her and beat her senseless. She was pregnant at the time. They beat her so bad that it forced a miscarriage. Many of us had to step outside to briefly cry after learning that. And in case that wasn’t horrifying enough..The leader of the trip essentially told me that is just the tip of the iceberg of what goes on in these areas.

Man I'm fighting tears seeing the living conditions of some people, especially knowing that I'm not different than them. I was also born and raised in Haiti. Living in the country for 19 years my parents decided to fly me out to the US for safety and having a better life, which now I've been residing for years going to college there. I remember walking around that prison with my mom looking for a specific thing to buy in the streets but never knew the conditions of those fellow brothers until now. That's the reason you should never be taking anything for granted in this life, you might be feeling lost due to not having a mansion or the car you've been dreaming about, but there are others wishing just to be free. Also being a nursing student makes me perceive that the chance of having a blood clot is so high inside since there are so many of them but just a few beds to rest staying in a room in an uncomfortable position for 23 hours. This for sure will prevent the blood from circulating properly and generate a clot. Now the worst part is having a clot in a prison like this where the people are unfortunately not educated on certain things think the terrible pain it brings will go away with time, just giving it enough time to spread throughout the whole body reaching the vital parts such as brain, lungs, heart. And if this happens death will occur. The second story man I cried like a baby I felt the parents' pain for not being able to pay a bribe or a lawyer for their 17yr old baby girl. That's wickedness, she should be free for something she didn't do. Hope they find a way out to get her out. Thank yall a lot for being so courageous and brave to be able to go there bringing us this full documentary.
I wonder why organisations like MSF can't help them? Tuberculosis, cholera, malnutrition, maybe a dvt is the last of these poor people's medical problems? Keep up your studies my dear. I've been an RN for 35yrs & in a few years, maybe you can do some good there. Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
I've heard of a lot of these stories before, rich people hiring these young women to work as maids and don't pay them, they take advantage of their poverty and if they should ask for their salaries they're accused of stealing and the backwards laws and systems work against them. So it's a no win situation for them. How can people be so unfair to others is beyond me.

Why? How can you be proud of being a Haitian woman? Have you even watched that documentary? What is there to be proud about? Did you follow the news in Haiti during the last 60 years? How can you be proud about *anything* that happend there? Ever.
It's nice to see your perspective. Haiti has good points and bad points in their heritage like everyone else. I personally think Haiti is a good external representation of a dark place in human's psyche. God bless you!

It’s so sad how the girl’s parents were so excited to hear that their daughter had been found…but then instantly fell into tears after hearing where she was found😢
I honestly don't see the essence of all about bringing her story to the world but not able to secure her release back to her parent... including the release of other innocent girls at the same prison
The doctor of that Saholy story is a very wicked woman, She's very wicked. If a child steals from you, send her back to her parents. Why put the child in jail. Wicked world. God punish you
There is something very unsettling about this video. No...not the plight of the people in the video, although that is terrible. No....what was unsettling was the way it ended. The camera crew packed up, got on the plane back to their flats and offices in England, and abruptly ended the video with a..."yeah....she's still in prison, likely will be forever." The company making this video couldn't spring for the cost of a bribe for that poor girl? Shameful. How much could it possibly have been? A thousand pounds max, I would say. There is just something very wrong about that. Fly in, basically exploit her tragic story for content, and then leave. Look at the views for this vid...2.4 million. Monetized, that is probably 10K dollars. And you people couldn't pony up a lousy thousand pounds to basically save that poor girl's life? THAT was the real message of this video. Absolutely heartless.

Just terrible! It was hard not to hold back tears watching this. And that so called Dr and her mother are quite inhumane, their new maid as well as her patients need to watch their back with her. Imagine having to trust someone like that to be your physician. Look at the way they were smirking while the family was pouring their hearts out in pain, they obviously couldn't care less as long as they are comfortable.
Even if she did steal, it is inhumane to throw her in prison just over several missing items. There are many better choices they can make, like firing her, or not paying her wages. Good work. The young lady in Madagascar really was heartbreaking. Seems if a uneducated person working for wealthy person all they have to do is accuse them and get locked up. I wonder how much "consideration" the guard would need to release her?
I’m sure some of them are in there for doing bad crimes, but man you can tell some of those guys are in there for probably nothing if not the most minor thing and will just be forgotten. That is so sad. Imagine some clerk just accidentally leaving a release paper in his car or falling under the seat of his car and forgetting about it forever. No one would care. Except for the person who’s name is on that paper and will be stuck in jail for the rest of his life because the clerk did not deliver that paper, and did not care whatsoever about losing it. It really aggravates me because they’re only excuses “not my responsibility” even the minister said the same thing pretty much about the judges.

After watching this makes me look at the mass escape that happened 4 days ago alot differently
I feel the same way!
Everyone not innocent. So you got murderer, kidnappers, and r@peys running around an already unruly island. That is chaos and soon to be hell on earth.
You starting to realize. Dig deeper.
God works in mysterious ways. All those prisoners had their prayers answered.
Imagine how many have escaped, and how will that escalate the conflict
The situation is really bad over there. pure wickedness.
Thank you❤
I wonder why organisations like MSF can't help them?
It's world wide
@@blackdiamond306Not here in Switzerland. We arrested Gaddaffis son for abusing his Maid in Geneva. They took 2 Swiss guys as hostages in Lybia tho and Gaddaffi was pissed😂
What if someone gets lazy and throws the paperwork away What then?
Injustice, so sad
I've been asking that same question all my life. I'm 61 now, and it's like a disease of callousness or maybe just conditioned and used to seeing these stories. Like you and me, many more do care, but what can we do to help. I've tried helping many in my lifetime but I'm just as broke as the next person. This is rogue leadership all over the world.
In Jail (without trial) for 5 years as an accessory to murder but the victim died of cholera. Case gets thrown out but still can't leave because the are issues with paperwork...
Do they even have detectives?
...Hell on earth.
yikes 😱
I mean, i feel that is every country but just some countries its just much, much, muchhhh more apparent and obvious.
And they have video footage of the trial and being told they are innocent/ free to leave. WTF?!!?
They are literally in there FOREVER without ever going to court or seeing a judge for crimes as small as stealing a cookie 🍪and they might have not even truly committed that crime
no...most countries are nowhere NEAR this. yes there's corruption in the DOJ but this is straight up daily, hellish, devastating torture of innocent people and those who haven't even been convicted in most cases and others stuck even after being determined innocent. US prison is paradise compared to many of their living conditions in prison and sadly even outside of prison...@@shawnee1153
Just days ago, thousands of them were freed by rebels.

And then, they join the rebels. No doubt.

I was born and raised in Haiti. Now I am 60, I am learning a lot about my country ( Haiti 🇭🇹 ) thanks to RUclips and my common sense. It is hard to swallow how Haitian government is mistreating Haitian people. I wonder how the USA-Canada-France- DR - Jamaica can respect us Haitian people. I believe!

Proud to be Black and Haitian Woman…
This is absolutely horrible. The corruption and injustice taking place is unimaginable.

No it’s been one month. As a minor, They can hold her for up to three years.
This documentary is incomplete without securing the release of the poor girl from prison.
I honestly don't see the essence of all about bringing her story to the world but not able to secure her release back to her parent... including the release of other innocent girls at the same prison
She’s even asking 18 years old if she knows any lawyer 😂😂 wicked world

@@laz0rbra1nSo according to you everyone is guilty?!
I was a fool for not noticing and feel bad. Wish i can help forgive me friend.
Few years back i enrolled as undergrad law student at uni...I didn't finish . Knowing what I know now, I think the world need more lawyers. I will be hearding back first thing.
What a nightmare!!!
Human rights lawyers for sure. Especially those that are willing to donate some time to the most vulnerable, who are often the ones who have their rights abused and cannot afford outside counsel themselves. That's why officials get away with it, and they know they will.
i cried with the mother,,, mothers love will always win,,, i pray that saholy gets justice..
I can’t stop crying for the 17 year old girl in that situation..I’m a father too, hard to see minor like her suffering and not given justice to defend herself..I hope i’m millionaire to send all children like her to school..Keep strong darling Saholy one day you’ll be freed..I will pray from now on for you and to your family..(Fr:philippine🇵🇭)
That lawyer in Haiti is a true hero!!
The real hero’s are the ones locking up these lying criminals….
Human right appointed. He's basically in a niche and what he did in front of the camera was clearly for the show. You could tell by the judge's reaction who was clearly bothered to even have to do his job.

That 17-year old’s story is sad. I can remember being 17, and the only worry I had was what to wear to school so I could get attention. I couldn’t imagine prison at that age, and I still can’t as an adult. If there was a GoFundMe for the girl, or her family, to hire a lawyer or pay the bribe I would donate in a heartbeat! Broken system! It's just pure laziness and rude of people to just push the blame onto others. Like that guy at 12:03 saying he's not responsible. Pushes the blame onto someone else. Then that person pushes the blame onto someone else. It's no wonder nothing gets accomplished. If everyone would just step up and help out then it would go a lot smoother. Just terrible! It was hard not to hold back tears watching this. And that so called Dr and her mother are quite inhumane, their new maid as well as her patients need to watch their back with her. Imagine having to trust someone like that to be your physician. What if the girl did steal,we can't count that scenario out.I dont agree with her being in that situation on an accusation though.
Even if she did steal, it is inhumane to throw her in prison just over several missing items.
There are many better choices they can make, like firing her, or not paying her wages.
Seeing her parents saddened like that, and still refused to drop the charges, I had to say the doctor is evil.
What did they lose by dropping the charges? They are just happy they ruined someone's life.

Good work. The young lady in Madagascar really was heartbreaking. Seems if a uneducated person working for wealthy person all they have to do is accuse them and get locked up. I wonder how much "consideration" the guard would need to release her?
A 50 to 200 dollar bribe to the judge will get someone out that isnt a political prisoner. Pretty shocking that that's the value of a life over there.
They crazy part is probably would've only been a couple hundred dollars
Of course there are some that have done bad crimes. Yup, some are totally innocent. Broken system! It's just pure laziness and rude of people to just push the blame onto others.
