  • Door jamb extensions were installed around the two doors in my metal garage. Jamb extensions are necessary when there is a gap between the door jamb and where the casing lies on the wall. Care was taken to make sure that condensation and water will not affect the wood in the future.

I'm getting ready to do this with a room I'm adding to my metal building. My thought was to have my door all the way into the room and have the entire jam on the outside of the building(door opening inside). Would this work? Also I'm using a regular home front door and framing it with wood and removing the metal 2x2s.

If the room is added on the the building and the jam won't be exposed to any weather, I think that would be fine. I don't recommend removing any of the metal 2x2 framing if possible. I was thinking about getting rid of the worthless man doors and installing regular exterior doors. T do it I was going to remove the 2x2 metal that the door sits on. I know it is only about 30 inches of metal, but I decided against doing that.

@@brettleybuilt no the room isn't being added on it's being built inside. I'm doing stick framing against the walls of the building then the main door will go from outside to Into the room. I don't have a choice but to remove 1 of the metal supports. It's the 1 that's 4 ft up the wall that I'm removing.
