I made a dog with this recipe I had the Morton Salt Book and I think it is the same recipe as yours. My daughter was a baby when I made it.....She is almost 50 and I still have it on my shelf in my living room.I don't remember baking it...just air dry. I used a garlic press for the fur on the dog I made. I would post the picture but not sure how. I just sprayed it with varnish and its almost 49 years old....Amazing.
Thank you for sharing your salt dough recipe and baking. I am going to make St. Lucia Scandinavian buns for her special day, which is December 13th. Bringing light to the darkness to usher in Christmas.
I didn’t have any issues with mold. They have lasted a really long time. I think mold needs moisture to grow. :) I would think modpodge would work just fine. I have used it for a similar project.
It can take up to several hours if I remember right. It was so long ago, I don’t remember the exact time. It depends on the thickness of what you made too. You can also air dry them if you don’t want to keep an eye on them in the oven that long. :)
I made these about a year ago and they have lasted fairly well. I think I would recommend them for kids 3 and up? My son who is a year and half gnawed on some of them. If it weren’t for him some of them probably wouldn’t have been destroyed. :) My three year old daughter has played with them a lot and they have held up well since she doesn’t try and chew on them!
This is amazing! I love to make clay items like this as well thank you for sharing an easy clay recipe! 🌸

Thank you...
How yo preserve it?
You could seal it with ModPodge. That would probably help protect the milk paint. The dough itself doesn’t need to be preserved.
@@stephanieengell5344 thanks
These are so nice!!!! Do you know how long they will last since they're made from food ingredients?
