We spoke with two fake food artists who specialize in making custom, inedible treats for restaurants, trade shows, and Hollywood. Here's how fake food props are made to look so delicious.

Literally art is just like that. Want to learn to code? Just dive in. Want to learn to paint? Just dive in. Want to learn to make comics? Just dive in. Want to sculpt? Just dive in. It's that way with all art, with dance, with music, it just takes practice, dedication, and motivation. It's not like being a doctor or something like that. It's just up to you and your creativity. Lessons are optional and for some even hold you back.

I think the best way to learn art is to observe. You don’t always have to be formally taught. I’m studying to become a writer, and when I say “studying” I mean that I’m reading books. And it works. My scores in English in school have always been through the roof, not because I like to sit and learn all the time, but because reading books and experimenting with writing enough just teaches me what’s natural. I think that in the same way, observing drawings, sculptures, etc. and experimenting while recreating stuff like that is really enough to get a sense for it.
now i understand why people in movies always get to eat the most delicious breakfast meals but they actually just take an apple and be like "thanks mom, gotta blast"

I once had a friend who was a “food stylist” in LA. Her day was spent painting fruit loops, spraying glycerin onto fruit, and playing with fake doughs…. Seemed like a really fun job!
The food in the first Harry Potter movies like in the scene when they are in the grat hall is actually real, Chris Columbus wanted it to be as realistic as possible. But in the other movies they had fake because it started to smell bad after hours because of the heat in the room...

For what I know, In the very beginning of the shoot of Harry Potter, all the foods are real but all of it were just wasted because it's all have been spoiled. So because of that, they make fake foods for the foods the cast will not eat for the scene but there still real foods and that's what they eat... 😊 hahaha sorry if that's too long.

Artulous no the artist takes time to prepare the burger to make it look that good then takes a picture. If people took the time to make burgers that looks that good your time and money would be wasted because they would probably charge 10x more than usual.
I like how she says I have no training thus is artistic because she has talent. The First Lady seemed really interested in sharing she did go to college/ hence this proved one can develop a talent without a degree. Both great talents!
