Good job mate👍. Judging by that carbon build up its sat for quite some time an may have had poor device history. Good to see you got it running so well. Just to top it off try using some liquid moly upper cylinder cleaner. Helps remove build up around valves and combustion chamber. I use it on all my cars every 20k.
Very late to the party, but i'm wondering where you guys bought the new dizzy from? Turns out my Honda is misfiring, and its due to oil leak in my distributor :( cant seem to find a matching, good quality one anywhere! Really useful video btw 💪
My car started doing this the other day changed park plugs and oil change stoped for a bit now it’s back next thing on my list will be spark plug wires and fuel filter I hope my timing isn’t off crossing fingers 🤞🤞🤞
hey mate, are you saying your cam and crank were out of time or your ignition timing? i have the same deal, my car clears up with the ac on and is misfiring bad with it off, replaced the TB, ECT and o2 sensor so far, cheers
I think you needed every part you bought for the car. So, it's not a waste of money. I think you're going to be happier with the way the car is running now.
I sold this car long ago, but regret it ever since. The car ran like a dream when I sold it and you’re right, it wasn’t a waste of money. Quite the opposite actually!
@ValveHouseAU I have an 03 civic im trying to fix... the misfire has been an issue for a good while and its gotten worse over time. I threw in bosch platinum spark plugs and some new coils. Friday, me and a friend are doing a compression test and we're cleaning the injectors in hopes it'll help. Thanks to your video, I have some more ideas to look into, but I seriously hope i can get it fixed without taking it to a mechanic. I really just dont have the money to be dropping that much into a shop. I barely have the money to do it myself. Its the first car I've had and I love it to death, so i hope to figure it out... im new to cars (been working at a lube and fluid exchange shop for over a year now), so i dont know much yet.
Great video mate. I've been fixing my b18c misfire for a long time. I ckecked all the fuel, ignition and timing they are all correct. I'm kinda out of ideas. If you know something, please reply to me. Thanks a lot.
@@ValveHouseAU Thanks for the reply. My misfire seems solved, after I replaced brand new dizzy, new coolant temp sensors, new knock sensor and wire the wideband power from the ignition and ground to chassis.
This sorta stuff tells me it's had a not so nice service report and it's 20 years old. At 300,000K's old this sort of maintenance is needed and appreciated, it's good you checking timing but please check your valve lashing as well.
Valve lash seems fine, quiet valvetrain and as you saw even compression numbers. The last service was only 1k kms ago but that was in 2017 so it was definitely due for a service
My car has the same misfire issue with AC and without ac. My Engine is D15B Dual Vtec but mine misfires due to the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) as everything else checked out to be fine those IACV's tend to go bad on the D series and cause idling issues and misfires.
had a similar issue where it struggled with ac on (bad compressor clutch symptom) and then bogged and backfired hard at partial throttle with ac on or off.. -new plug wires and cleaning dizzy and battery contacts seemed to fix the problem immediately
Hasn’t misfired since I turned the a/c on that one time. I think it was just fouled up and full of carbon and the ECU probably had to adjust to the correct timing
if you guys are in sydney and wanna do smth give me a shout, i got an e36 i wanna work ok. the front end is disassembled and im thinking of engine swapping it. Cheers 🤘🏾
This car looks crazy new! Wow, uploaded one year ago. Cheers man.

Sat for about 5 years, says last service was 1k kms ago but the date also says 2017 haha. Will clean the engine like you said!
Aye at least you’re brand new throughout the engine.. Out a couple of bucks true but you do have your peace of mind
Exactly, when it gets running (hint on next video - it isn’t running any more) everything will be new and will be running perfect
@@ValveHouseAU well good luck with getting her all well together.. I’m currently looking for a ek or eg hatchback so can’t wait to join in on the fun.
They’re such awesome litter rippers. Put a smile on my face for the short time I drove it even though I reckon I could have ran faster🤣
Good job
You learned a lot doing all that, that is precious - well done 👍
Did it also have an exhaust leak in the B-pipe, mate?
The car had no rear muffler and a had a bad leak from a cracked header but I replaced them both.

I got a second hand one locally! If you’re in Australia hit up Type R Spares on Facebook and he will ship you a second hand one that works well!

I hope so too, Goodluck!

That correct, the timing lines were not correct and slightly off
Thanks for the video !

Your cat is ok? No restrictions in exhaust? Valve adjustment been done?

Yeah I had cleaned my IACV when I got the car and all was good but I could never trace the misfire issue to be caused by IACV
had a similar issue where it struggled with ac on (bad compressor clutch symptom) and then bogged and backfired hard at partial throttle with ac on or off..

lmao the no oil got me
How did you fix the timing to your car?
As stated in the video align timing marks and set the distributor in the centre or where it was marked previously
Good video man!!
now if you turn on the AC still no misfire?
Hasn’t misfired since I turned the a/c on that one time. I think it was just fouled up and full of carbon and the ECU probably had to adjust to the correct timing
Put some new belts on it would you
Ahh just the ac belt, I’ll change it eventually

Shoot us a message on our Instagram! What engine you thinking?
Injector O rings disintegrated just like my B series
O-rings actually weren’t bad, just ridiculous carbon build up😯
@@ValveHouseAU That's wild! Good vid dude, I enjoyed it
Thanks!!
