This episode, we are joined by Dr. Lai Pak Wah to discuss TCM and whether the principles and religious elements should be cause for concern.

I am born again Christian for over 20 years. God led me to alternative therapies, TCM and finally accupuncture in order to restore my chronic joint pains due to repeated injuries. We, as Chinese Christians have over-spiritualize physiological recovery in the realm of TCM.
For a good number of years, I couldn't understand why God didn't heal me in the typical Christian healing manner, Eventually, I could no longer ignore my personal interest and the possibilities found in traditional health modalities.
So for close to 20 years ago when my journey as a certified Wellness Therapist has helped me and my patients tremendously through natural healing modalities without having to be subjected to taking a concoction of unending medicated relaxants/pain killers and going under the surgical knife unnecessarily, by first helping them and myself to regain optimal health through alternative methods rooted in TCM which emphasized in holistic approach (treating the body as whole instead of isolated parts, achieving equilibrium in mind & body, harmony with nature which is also God's creation) . Furthermore, I have had opportunities to share the good news to communities of believers and practitioners of alternative/traditional modalities because I could relate to them.
A mentor once to me, God left his footprints in many cultures all over the world - If we seek after God's will, He will show us the purpose of our natural birth right (Proverbs 25:2 It is God's privilege to conceal things and the king's privilege to discover them). We have our natural calling as ethnic Chinese with thousands of years of rich cultural history. Few verses that guided me as I was seeking God's will in my healing journey...
    Romans 12:2
    1 John 4
    Isaiah 55:8-9
    1 Cor 15:27
This sharing here is just a simplified version of my walk of faith into understanding and embracing the beauty and richness of my own culture without the religious dogmas, which was previously most influenced from western worlviews. For those who are still wondering about accupuncture, the previously elusive meridians and flow of qi (energy/lifeforce) have already been scientically proven as bio-electrical charges pulsing more strongly in specific points that can be linked in a network of meridians and accupoints. Needle insertion can help to relax stiff muscles, improve micro-circulation (which promotes detoxification), activate inert cells and strengthens the immune system - all of these which is to empower our God-given intelligent body to self-heal naturally. TCM is gaining popularity amongst medical practitioners in the west in recent years.
    Blessings,
    Sharon, Malaysia/Singapore

Thank you for this! It was very insightful and prompted me to go watch another video featuring Dr. Lai Pak Wah. I may need to check out one of his books as well.
I've been fascinated by the different approaches to medicine in TCM for quite some time. While I've wanted to be careful and have had questions, I've never really believed it was completely at odds with Christian faith. We are still learning things about these bodies God created, so why do we think there's only one approach to understanding and caring for it? Surely there's a different approach to wellness beyond, "here, take this pill."

Shorty after becoming a doctor of Chinese medicine, I experienced a "road to Damascus" conversion during which I was completely healed from all my emotional and physical sufferings and I was filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit clearly pointed it out to me that Chinese medicine and acupuncture were not compatible with Christianity/ truly following Jesus Christ. Needless to say that this was shocking realization to make. The yin yang theory is not from God, it falls into the category of divination. One cannot serve God and the world at the same time.

Thank you. I was reading these comments and getting concerned. Jesus saved me from new age and witchcraft and showed me acupuncture is balancing the 'chi' and is actually a spiritual practice based on 'biomeridians' (invisible pathways of chi energy). Acupuncture was invented to expel demons I read as well, so even if I didn't know all that I would still listen to the Holy Spirit's conviction to not be involved in this. Chinese Medicine is also based on the 5 Elements, which every diagram I've ever seen looks just like the 4 Elements of witchcraft.

According to the doctor, TCM is not rooted in Taoism, so is secular in nature and would be ok for Christians.

Jesus was the messiah and he was jewish but he migrated to other places during the 17 years there is no record . Buddhism was around thousands of years before Jesus came to the earth . They have the same moral teaching . They are not as dogmatic as Christians . Being a Buddhist is a matter of mind . You can be a buddhism and not believe in god or you can believe is Jesus . All it means is enlightened one . Was Jesus not enlightened ? The Chineses try and take away acupunctures spiritual roots done through the communist revolution . What they are saying is not true at all

@@FontanaVlog I know very well what Buddhism is, I used to be new age and meditated, believed in “ascended masters” and enlightenment and all of that. For 18 years I believed and practiced these things. I became a Christian a couple of years ago when it was revealed to me that Satan is real, evil is real, and that what I was practicing was a form of self worship, and thus, satanic. I then had a personal revelation from God that the Bible and everything written in it is true.
Jesus existed before the formation of the universe. Jesus was not an enlightened master, He was literally God in the flesh.
If, as you said, there is no record of this supposed migration, how do you say with such confidence that it happened?
Maybe you’re right though. Maybe we shouldn’t get acupuncture as Christians.
