That EMotion looks AMAZING! If its performance specs are as good as it looks it will be a huge success. Drop the leather interior though! Don't need no stinking dead animals skins to sit on...
It looks nice, has it's own design, but just reminds me of any other impractical super car. Not something which I would aspire to own and I honestly don't see anything all that special in the design. But that's just me. If Fisker can live up to his claims, the company will be a great addition to the electric vehicle revolution.
Alex, I've followed you for a long time, but I'm really getting sick of your anti-Elon Musk sentiment. It is okay if you disagree with some of what he does, and it is okay to voice that on occasion. The problem is that you insert it into nearly every video, such as this one, where it has zero basis. There was absolutely no reason to drag him into this video. Seriously man, calm down on your hate and keep the good news rolling.
I'm with you Morgan. Alex, I absolutely love what you are doing. I am not an Elon fan-boy; as you know I have my own EV initiatives. However, it is doing your profile no good to constantly bring Elon down.
I’m Tesla fanboy. Love their cars, how they’re pushing the industry forward, and appreciate Musk. But he does a lot of idiotic things that should rightly be criticized. I thought it was a reasonable point to make in the context of this video.
This is a weird interview... Interviewee and Interviewer both criticizing the audience. General criticisms about news outlets and EV enthusiasts I could understand... but specific comments like 'keyboard warriors' and 'many of my viewers' aimed at the audience show a lack of respect from both Fisker and e-electric. I know very little about this guy or his company, but after watching this he comes across as someone that responds to criticism and skepticism defensively. If someone has something negative to say about you or your product the responsible way to deal with it is to respectfully acknowledge their point of view while providing a more positive interpenetration, not to belittle the critic. I wouldn't hire someone as defensive as this and I defiantly wouldn't invest in them. 1:35 As for e-electrics statement that whether or not a company ever produces a car or makes good on their pre-orders they still have the support of this channel. The easy-come easy-go EV startups don't help the movement from ICE cars. An industry full of vaporware is an industry that will struggle to get investment and credibility.
The issue people have with him.. is that he is dishonest. Now much of what I'm about to say is based solely on the admittedly limited information that I have. I feel that information is solid, but it set the tone for my own personal feelings about him. Tesla hired him to do design work on the Model 3. While I admit that there are some subtle design elements of his work that did make it into the prototypes.. the designs he was doing were basically shit. And the reason they were shit, or let's be kind and say ... "Incomplete" was that he wanted to spend time at Tesla. This was his goal.. not really to do any serious design work for them. This is opinion solidified by what he did after leaving Tesla. Not just what he did, but in what order he did it. Too much detail to go into in a youtube comment but suffice to say.. it stinks. It stinks of malice and aforethought. Tesla considered taking him to court over it.. but how do you prove that someone did crap design work on purpose? The answer is.. you don't. Fisker knew it, Tesla knew it. So that was it. This left a very bad taste in the mouths of all who knew the story. So while I do wish him the best in what he is trying to do, I don't really think of him as a stellar human being. I certainly wouldn't hire him independently for any design work. Now.. as far as his claims for solid state supremicy... At 9:55 he mentions his small lab. I'm not really sure what's going through his head, or just how naive he thinks everyone else is.. but Tesla has been doing design work and working with partners on solid state batteries and ultracapacitors for a very long time now. Musk was actually engaged in a PHD based on ultracapacitor technology before he left school to start his companies. So to stand there and say he is a leader in the technology because he has a small lab seems to me a little like the Wizard of Oz not wanting you to look behind the curtain in Nevada. Again.. I wish him well, but he just seems like he is approaching this all with the same dishonesty that Blue Origin is in regards to space travel. Making huge claims about being the first to do things... or being a leader.. when they are clearly not.
playing devil's advocate, everyone knows Tesla/Elon''s side of the story because Tesla became super successful whereas Fisker's venture folded. We actually don't know Fisker's side of the story. True, he may just be a dick and did do shady things exactly like Elon claims, but it's important to hear both side, which we probably never will.
@@sports4eva115 , agreed. Also true, however, is that he has had plenty of time to tell his side. The reality is that his version of events always seems to change depending on who he is talking to. When you examine the series of events.. it's all pretty suspect. Even his timeline of electric Vehicles since 2007 is very telling.
If you look at how the Tesla Roadster is looking, there is a lot of similarities to the Fisker design, so maybe there is some connection there. We will never know what happened between Fisker and Tesla, so let's just be happy for more e-car companies.
I fail to see why you brought up Elon Musk's tweet on this interview. Fischer started in 2007, seems a long time for just 2k cars + promises, compared with other startups. But wish him the best of success.
I brought it up because people don't seem to like Fisker because he makes claims that are not supported by facts. At least that's what they say. So that was my counterpoint.
@@RemoteSpeed007 only if you are a Tesla fan boy or simply do not apply critical thinking to this context. All I know is that no decent person would agree that calling someone a pedophile without evidence is a decent thing to do. I hope you are a decent person and will agree.
@@EforElectric It was not logical nor appropriate to use it in this interview, your approach was purely character assassination. My opinion. But if you were to do a video on Elon Musk and show it, then it would be appropriate, obviously one would imagine you would offer a balanced view, showing his mistakes, bad tweets, but also his achievements. I'm sure you will concede that if Tesla did not start this revolution, not many would be driving electric cars - The main reason for your show right? You make one simple mistake, presuming that people have watched hundreds of your videos before watching this one. Just my opinion.
@@RemoteSpeed007 if you watch my channel you would know that I do offer that "balanced view" and share the opinion that without Elon I wouldn't even have a job since there will be no EVs to talk about. And yes, I do make an assumption that when someone forms an opinion about me especially calling my videos "not appropriate" they would be educated on the subject matter and familiar with my work. Anyway, thank you for the conversation and I look forward to your future comments.
I agree with him on not being able to please everyone. However, people here aren't upset at his company failing, wasting government funding and China buying the company. It goes way back to when he knew his was secretly building his own vehicle but then took the design job at Tesla. Also his comment about angry people on keyboards with nothing else to do is incorrect. A lot of us here actually work in the industry and take risks. Some succeed, some fail.
@M Heisenberg So you are saying that over a century ago man's scientific research was advanced enough to determine everything that has to do with the detection of atomic particules and the predictions of what they were causing? Just asking for clarification.
Interesting. 500 Wh per kg? I had thought, or been under the impression that solid state batteries would do better than that. The Maxwell battery tech is said to have a clear path to 500 Wh per kg. So as far as power density goes Tesla should be able to stay competitive, at least for the near term. The one advantage they may have is charge times. 200 miles in 5 min would be incredible. That would be around 60 kWh in 5 min. Still about 1/3 as fast as pumping gas, but if combined with a 400 mile range, certainly acceptable for most road trips. (With only one or two short stops in a day and then a destination charge each day, totally doable.)
Refitting new battery chemistry in production cars is not a major undertaking, for a big company, required they have the supplier, and being first is not a sure advantage. EVs will in time be offered with different chemistries. Li-ion are suited for commuters doing freqvent shorter trips, but if you only drive a few times a week, li-ion has high self discharge, so the economy worsens. Other chemistries that currently have lower capacity, like Li-titernate has lower capacity but almost no self discharge and don't mind freezing temperatures. similarly Li-ion batteries can be made with higher capacities, but with lower power density, so truly long range with no ridiculous option EVs will also be available in time. So it is natural that choosing a chemistry when you buy an EV will be a future option when the market has matured.
man, you call yourself an EV helper but you don't stop, to bring in every opportunity tesla and Elom Muck back, you can say whatever you want about him but the fact is that he made EV what's is today with other manufacturers moving to Electric. about Fisker, I don't believe until I see. at least with Elom, he put his money where his mouth is and deliver what he promises and had delivered it. about you and the way you always come back to Tesla no matter what the ... you are talking just makes me think that you are a Tesla hater rather than an EV promoter.
If Fisker want to help and contribute to a better world as claimed, and have a battery that doubles current capacity as claimed, then they should stop talking about keeping info from the competition and protecting IP and patents and instead allow the world access to their information. Double battery capacity is a world changing tech. As others have said, if true Fisker would be a battery manufacturer and forget all about cars. So something doesnt stack up. Mixed messages to me, They want to save the world, but keep the info to themselves so they can profit....the two things dont go together.
Alex, if you still have trouble understanding why EVs are not more popular, I suggest a cross country trip in an EV to experience it first hand. You might be amazed at the lack of knowledge at the dealership, the lack of availability, the lack of a sufficient charging network, and the fear that comes along with the realization that anything outside of the 60-75 degree range has a negative effect on the battery plus the fact that running the AC or heat will reduce your range. Those are tough pills to swallow. High cost is another deterrent in states where the gas and electricity prices aren't too high. It may not seem like it, but I am a huge EV fan but there are many factors that turn people away. Until those factors are addressed sales will not reach their full potential.
Jay Jay - I’m really excited about the new generation of Tesla superchargers. Most people have told me the current ones still leave you waiting beyond what would be a convenient rest stop. The new ones should make all the difference. Has that been your experience?
hmm. fisker mentions sakti3 as the only company working on ssbs in the last decade(s?). and claims they are his partners. but sakti3 is now a 100percent subsidy of dyson. and they also work on an ecar. sounds complicated/fishy...
Alex Horn, yes, and Fisker’s response when Alex said his viewers are skeptical was something like Elizabeth Holmes would say. He should have said it’s understandable to be skeptical of anyone claiming to have something nobody else has, yet unwilling to demonstrate it.
@@imho7250 good comparison. fisker bailed before but that is not my problem with him. im more concerned about his tech prowess. he is a car designer not an engineer. and solid state batt systems are high level material physics stuff. without any proof this is hard for me to believe.
Alex Horn, yes, but seems he’s not satisfied having a car styling designed by him, he wants his own car. It’s quite possible that the Sakti3 founder he hired is scamming him, and he’s just passing that on. He said they sent batteries out for testing? By Who? What company can be trusted to test batteries without stealing the chemistry?
Problem with henrik Fisker is that he has proved he is a charlatan. While Elon musk was over engineering the Model S to have supercharging, and amazing safety and a removable battery, Fisker was partying on a yacht with investors money producing an extremely marginal car.
What do I need to adopt electric? Nothing more or less than a full replacement for my current car. -It's a minivan. It can seat 8 and still have significant luggage space. -It's fairly efficient -It gets my family around town comfortably -it can carry my family, a guest, plus luggage, on vacation -vacation needs: good range -vacation needs: excellent refuel time (maybe can live with 20 min for 300 mi range) -vacation needs: excellent refuel coverage. Get me to yellowstone and back without trouble, get me to the ski slopes and back. Remote locations accessible -vacation needs: cd/radio/gadget charging -reliable -good price: I paid 13k -USED, cuz I'm not paying for no brand-new car; but in good condition ---------- What I absolutely don't need: -amazing looks -amazing top speed -amazing acceleration -special door handles Realistically, I think my personal adoption is like 15 years away. If they made my vehicle today (which they are still far from doing) it would be at least 7 years before I adopt because I'm gonna buy used.
@@vulpo yeah possibly, I look forward to the ev choices in the future. Some of us want extremely practical vehicle choices and it will be good for the planet when they are brought to market. Exciting times ahead
Braingrunt - My situation and vehicle needs are the same as yours though I would add cargo-carrying capacity (removable rear-seats). Three quick constructive points: You’re thinking like someone who’s only ever driven an ICE car. Those I know with 300-mile range EV’s (Models S & X) who do road trips tell me they NEVER fully charge at roadside charging stations (like you and I might fully fuel at a gas station). Every two hours they stop, plug in, stretch their legs, use the rest-room, get a coffee, and leave. By that point they’ve added ALMOST enough mileage to continue their trip. Key word: ALMOST. They tell me the current charging rates are not quite fast enough. Here’s the good news. The new generation of roadside chargers, which Tesla etc. is now deploying will make all the difference. No more waiting beyond a quick rest break. Second point: Speed and acceleration with EVs isn’t a function of engine size (like it is with a combustion engine) but of battery size. If you want range, you want a larger battery which delivers higher performance as a side-benefit. But really, that’s not a bad thing, is it? Lastly, aesthetics: aerodynamics correlate with range and performance. Even projecting side-view mirrors cost an EV five percent range at highway speed! Not to mention wind noise etc. EVs have the immediate advantage that they don’t need a radiator (think air dam) to cool the engine. So why should sleek, flush-fitting door handles cost any more than old-school ones? And if they save energy long-term so much the better. I’m with you. I always buy slightly second-hand and can hardly wait until there’s a selection of affordable EVs to choose from. Cheers.
@@tonys9413 Your insult is inappropriate. He actually sounds like some of the wealthiest people I know, living beneath their means and not feeling the need to put their wealth and success on display.
@@cruiser97eric1 This is why, for me, the thing I'm watching with the most excitement (and anxiety), is solid state batteries which are believed will have much better lifespans. If Fisker really has superior battery tech and he proves it sufficiently, that is the day I will sell my Tesla stock and buy Fisker
@9:05 interesting. I thought Dyson bought Sakti3 and had Ann Marie Sastry on the payroll, who seemed to be the goto girl. I wonder who this other mystery founder is, and what they know that’s not part of the patents Dyson bought. And what are the specs on this “Solid State” battery? If you have it, demo it.
Are you sure you are pro EV? Trying to poke Elon with every minor possibility, and it's because of him EVs finally getting adopted now, will take 10 years more at least otherwise. I watched like 20 uploads, but this is my last. Hope you quit hating one day.
Love this interview, I also like how much Henrik is not giving away right now. This way we can have Christmas every week :) I feel his passion just like Henrik I was obsessed with cars since I can remember. Alex, look at the facts. Fisker-Hype and promises so far with little production. Tesla- Producing up to 7000 vehicles per week. Now, I agree that Elon Musk needs to change his ways, settle down, and make good cars. But for all of his errors, he has really moved electric cars forward. Fisker has not. If we were waiting for Henry Fisker, where would the electric car movement be today? Not very far!
Sam48 - yeah...apparently making claims about the breakthrough battery has become a click-bait cottage industry. Something will emerge, I’m sure, and they’d do well to partner with Tesla.
Just listen to this guy. He's so full of .... I'd love it if it's true, but just listening to him you'd lying through his teeth. Edit: I had to clean up my comment and make it G rated. Edit 2.0) I've never heard of this guy before, but listening to him talk I can see he's not serious. Faraday Future had land to build on. Faraday Future had a cool car. They crashed and burned. And he thinks he can do better. Elon said it best last during the model y reveal when he said that it's easy to make a concept car. It's easy to make a show car. It's infinitely harder to make a high quality car to scale cheaply. This guy didn't have a prototype. He doesn't even have land to build this car that doesn't exist... I think what really bothered me about him is that people take him seriously. He's clearly lying about his batteries. (I hope he's not, but I highly doubt it) and other car manufacturers are going to wait on making electric vehicles until his batteries come to market... Well they never will. His lies are slowing the adoption of electric vehicles.
We are not angry because we are against Fisker. We are disgusted because of nine years of nothing to show for it except a lot of people who lost everything they invested.
The amount you get unnecessarily heated up about defending Fisker at the beginning shows you've clearly gone from "unbiased independent" news to something completely different. Your opening statement is contradicting. "This channel is all about moving us forward, not a particular brand". You don't do that yourself! I'm just one viewer, but I've had enough with the sentiment and have unsubscribed.
Excellent video. Thank you. It’s interesting to listen Henrik’s comments in the video, such as Fisker’s plan to build its own car manufacturing facility, contrasted with his more recent comments regarding their plan to use third party manufactures. He is constantly changing his plans, but I actually appreciate the evolution in his thinking. With overcapacity in the car manufacturing space, perhaps Fisker really will succeed as Apple has by using contract manufacturers... it’s worked for Jaguar already. It would be interesting if you could do a segment on possible third party contract manufacturers in the automotive space, perhaps staring with the one used by Jaguar and then speculating on Fisker’s options for third party contract car manufacturers. Thanks again!
Ok, I know the guy failed a few years ago. Let him bring out the e-motion in 3 years from now with SS battery’s and see if it works and gets into some type of product be it low or mass market. Beautiful car....
Yes, 2 things, first is the availability of electric cars. where and how do you buy one or at least find out about them. Second, is every company using dedicated charging stations. So If I am thinking about buying one, i need to figure out where the public charging stations are for that car. Or does any station accommodate all cars charging needs.Thanks. And great information with this video.
BTW you did not ask any strong questions .. you seem and sound like a Fisher fan boy .. base on Fisher history it speaks for it self .. again wish him the best ..
I really liked the plugin hybrid sports car they made 12 years ago, the Fisker Karma, they even made a solar roof for it. However sales were not as expected. Their new SUV has lost a lot of the sleekness, but times are more favourable.
He certainly has the right philosophy and approach. The Catarpiller company might be a very good testbed for his new battery in order to mature the solid state technology. I don't know what his battery research operation is like but that would be my instinct as well - to build your own solid state and bring it to production. Too many car makers like Hyundai/Kia are relying on subcontracting battery makers. I feel if they don't scale up the operation with batteries, like Tesla have done, they will never be able to keep up with demand. This we are already seeing with Kona e-Niro etc.
At some point Snap-on will see the reto E lower chassis market .Find that universal batt/trans market and Porche will lead, the handling of low center eng.cars is their baby.
Aaand it turns out the answer to "how did you make solid state work when no one else did" was somewhere between outright lying about the progress and stealing the tech from a Quantumscape defector.
Great interview ! Let’s see it manifest and him execute all these brilliant ideas just cos you can make a pizza doesn’t mean you’re a Costco pizza volume maker 😝
A solid state battery, actually capacitor, technology that ought to be pursued was invented by Alvin Marks a few decades ago claiming an energy density similar to gasoline or about 50 - 100 times that of lithium ion technology. Quantum Energy Storage or Retrieval, QUENSOR, uses polyacetylene polymer chains doped with fluorine to form nano-capacitors in series, each capacitor is built from, I believe, 4 atoms and can store 4 electrons. Quensor with its huge energy density is great, but it also has the advantage of having its capacity essentially independent of temperature. I can make the polyacetylene chains, but don't have the level of laboratory needed to work with perfluoric acid.
Fisker, just go for it! If it where for the negative people out there, we would still sit around a camp fire, be eaten by lions and wonder what just happened.
Solid state batteries are doing well so they're just going that direction. Then 2 minutes later he doesn't know if the suv will be first or the sedan because they don't know how long the battery tests will last 🤔
I gave this video a chance. The title grabbed me, but II wanted to click out 2 min in because of you were already building a biased narrative - note: NO. The Fiskar Karma fiasco did NOT push the industry forward in more ways than it hurt it. Newsflash: there was a reason hybrids with that configuration weren't in production from other companies - its an extremely inefficient way to make an EV/hybrid. But i stayed watching for the "tough question" just to see you take off the punching gloves and preface your questions by saying "i am the guy always pushing EV, why are you getting so much backlash?" How about some real journalism and be SPECIFIC at what those problems that people have with him are? Going through comments on your videos they are some very legitimate concerns that you skated by. If Henrik thinks Fisker Karma owners who got their vehicles bricked are just "angry keyboard warriors who have not done much in their lives" its because he is not only disconnected from the EV industry, but his companies as a whole. EV is not what you are best at - its car design. You do not get the credit and revenue you feel you deserve so instead of staying within your independent design firm (ala Jony Ives with Apple) you branched out into automotive manufacturing. That's fine & great, solid ambition. But through whats seeming like a small collection of failed endeavors its become clear that you want the positive adoration, but none of the negative aspects of CEO / Chairman responsibilities. Let me be very clear: you come across as a spoiled, silver spoon kid with immense design talent but a huge fault in not taking responsibility for your screw-ups. As someone involved in automotive manufacturing, its been eye-opening seeing start-ups come & go and the constant being so focused on pushing the bar that simple manufacturing / supply chain steps are overlooked. Wow Elon, you didn't realize how difficult it would be to put a wire harness on with a robot? Wonder if you hired any automation engineer from a major OEM we couldve told you that. Really Henrik, you put ALL of your eggs in one basket with your EV supplier and now its not your fault? If only there was some type of E-Flow for project mgmt you could follow where a clear step is the stability of your supply chain. You dont think major OEMs do that with critical components such as transmissions and CVT pulleys? If a supplier failure means lost production and ultimately $$ than its something you can quantity, evaluate and consider a countermeasure. If that same supplier failure means your entire company going under than maybe you have a supply chain issue you should address. Oh but wait - pushing the EV limits is more important than company stability and peoples jobs. How about you try some accountability next time you try to play CEO because it comes with the large salary & bonuses. If you want to avoid accountability I'd recommend playing CEO over at Kickstarter & Indiegogo where the rest of the bright-eyed, inexperienced community go to learn the ropes. As for the channel owner if you want to ask some real questions here a start. You're embarrassing yourself and the industry.
To be fair to him, he did say he hired CEO's before but it failed. Either way, I like your analysis. Automotive production is a hard egg to crack. Start with a bike, grow from there.
- [x] You should check out the Fisker Ocean if you can wait 1.5 to 2 years for an EV. I ordered two Fiskers. Get in on ground floor with federal tax credit of $7500 since reservations in tens of thousands and not hundred of thousands. If you pay at least $7500 in federal taxes on year you purchase an EV and the company has not sold 200,000 total of that model then you can subtract $7500 from your federal taxes that year. Tesla’s model 3 and model Y no longer qualify. The Volkswagen ID4, Mustang Mach e still qualify (still less than 200000 vehicles of each of the EVs as of Feb 2022). However over the next after another 1.5 years they probably will no qualify. The down payment for a Fisker is $250 and this money is put into a secured account so Fisker Inc. cannot just take your money if they do not follow through with making the vehicle. You can make a second reservation for $100 as well. The second reservation for purchasing a second Fisker ($100) is fully refundable if you cancel but the first reservation ($250) is partially reimbursed if you cancel the reservation minus 10% (-$25). This is much better than when Tesla would keep your full $100 reservation fee if you cancelled. Those that do order and purchase/lease a second Fisker is not likely to get the second vehicle for at least 9 to 12 months after first vehicle purchased or leased. I plan to sell second Fisker purchase for a profit of this vehicle is actually made. The California Mode in the top two Fisker models except the cheaper Sport trim is unique (all windows/sunroof can be opened) will appeal to younger beach/outdoorsy types and is sort of a gimmick but so is the new Ford Bronco style. Also Fisker is trying to use as many recyclable materials for the interior (carpet, seats, dash, etc.) as much as possible if you are concerned about one’s carbon footprint. Some may think this is a gimmick but Mr Fisker seems genuine about this goal- he does not try to oversell it. There seems to be a great deal of doubt this company will get off the ground and produce any significant number of EVs. I have an ID4 but the Fisk Ocean looks better and will perform even better from what I have read. I am sold on EVs regardless of push to transition to electric vehicles to help the environment. I never will buy a gas vehicle again. I was charging my car at a fast charger and spoke to another person who was a CPA who also had a Volkswagen ID4. He said the same with no plans to buy another gas vehicle again. EVs are likely much more reliable since only 20 moving parts in an electric motor compared to at least 200 moving parts in a gas engine. Therefore less parts to wear out. No starter, fan clutch, fuel pump, water pump, alternator, timing belt, other belts running compressor, etc need to be replaced. No oil changes or coolant hose leaks. There is coolant for the batteries but the hoses are much smaller and not subjected to heat of a gas engine. No exhaust fumes while idling to keep car warm or cold. The heater and AC can be run very efficiently from battery alone instead of wasting heat energy from engine. You could camp in an EV and running AC or heater only decreases battery a fraction over 24 hours compared to gas burned in a gas vehicle. An EV with a heat pump is more efficient except in very cold climates and the Fisker will have a heat pump unlike the ID4 in the US. There is a lot of speculation about battery of EVs degrading and needing replaced after 5 to 10 years but I predict there will be privately owned shops that will do nothing but change out batteries for fraction of cost than the dealer’s cost once EVs out of warranty. You can already watch videos of DIY on RUclips to change out Prius hybrid batteries at a fraction of the cost. The battery of my Volkswagen ID4 is at the bottom of vehicle like most full EVs and could be accessed/dropped down with a car lift then some type of platform lift to lower the battery on. If I was a mechanic I would have a bay set up to change out EV batteries starting in another 3 to 5 years except for Teslas since they refuse to release any technical manuals for their cars and probably always will. Hopefully Fisker will do the opposite and market their vehicles’ battery to be serviceable by privately owned shops (have manuals available) after warranty expires. For consumers to feel like their at the mercy of the dealership when it comes to EVs is a major discouraging factor for those considering buying an EV. Smoother ride, minimal noise from electric motor and respectable acceleration are all characteristics of any EV over $35000. You charge an EV vehicle overnight with 30 to 40 miles per hour if you have a $500 type 2 charger installed at your home which requires a NEMA (240 volt) plug. You do not need a garage to put a type 2 charger since there are many chargers that can be mounted to wall outside home. With my Volkswagen ID4 it includes free fast charging at Electrify America chargers (I have one down street from my home) first 3 years. I recharge if every other day for nothing! I have only spent about $40 for my first 3000 miles. Three times I had to use Charge point charger due to not near a Electrify American charger while on a long road trip which is why I had to pay $40. If you are going to not install a type 2 charger at your home the cost of charging with fast charger in the community is MORE expensive than even gas. For example my Volkswagen ID4 get 2.8 miles/kWh and cost is 43 cents kWh at Electrify America charger in NC. This will cost you about $3.07 to go 20 miles in my ID4. These private company charging stations can alway increase price as gas prices go up and rip you off. If you fast charge at home with a type 2 charger the cost for 20 miles in NC is about 80 cents compared to a car that gets 20 miles a gallon of gas. Only recently has gas cost more than $3/gallon in NC. There is talk of Fisker also offering free charging through Electrify America possibly but no specifics. I find it unlikely Fisker to have all the features as promised for the lower trim versions costing $37499 (Sport Trim) and $49,999 (Ultra Trim). However until they are able to have some descent initial sales (? First 100,000 EVs) for the Fisker Ocean they may keep price what they promised. I read the Fisker Ocean will be built in Austria which seems like a major plus. If there is no increase in price for those trims then certainly better than Volkswagen ID4 models. They have a Fisker Referral program that gives you one point if you reserve a Fisker for $250 and put in a referral code (3VRWP8). This is my referral code. Second order cost just $100. You can only configure your first order at this time and can change it till Fisker will take final order. Current orders under 50000 and likely will get vehicle sometime in 2023 if the Fisker can fill 5000 orders per month which is their target in 2023. This number seems too optimistic. When u use someone else’s referral code u give them one point as well as getting one point as well. The referral code points get you the following free items (2 points gives you a Fisker hat and water bottle - unsure if one or both, 10 points gives you Fisker T-shirt, 20 points gives you Fisker sweatshirt.) Manufacturing of Fisker Ocean starting mid Nov 2022. As of 2/2022 I do not believe they have more than 40000 reservations. As of June 29, 2021 there were only 17,000 preorders which seems like a low number since taking preorders since Fisker started taking orders Nov 2019. However I just heard of this car and I have been looking at different EVs for 2 years so definitely they have not been advertising much. No dealer mark up like other EVs purchased from dealers like Ford, Volkswagen, etc. You purchase it like a Tesla and don’t have to sit down with salesman wearing penny loafers haggling. I do not believe you get any referral points unless you put down someone else’s referral code. Thank you. Referral code 3VRWP8
I think some of the negativity simply comes from impatience. No matter how fast EVs progress, it won't be fast enough for some. I feel that way about my computer...it won't be fast enough until it boots instantly. I am waiting for solid state batteries, much faster charge times, better range, and better prices. I'll bide my time, a little impatiently, but I try to keep my comments and criticisms factual and fair.
Got to say that I don't think you were that tough on him. You let him compare an experimental solid state cell in the lab that's still deep in development to 'the best production lithium ion cell' Guess what? 400 watt hours in such an early prototype cell is actually low. All this interview did was confirm my suspicion that this fellow is more hype than substance. Honestly I hope he proves me wrong but everyone else is now coming to market. If you're wondering why so many folks are negative is because electric transportation has now arrived. There are now multiple good products you can buy today. Wild promises don't cut it any more, time to put up or shut up.
The Fisker is much more interesting than the Tesla. Not only is it a sports car but the imagination that has gone into the vehicle is excellent. If Tesla is a functioning company in 5 years I will be surprised. The company is continually failing to make projected production levels. Soon they are up against another debt payment and they are looking for more money to stay in business. If the Emotion ever hits the street I will be out there to buy one.
I hope he is successful with the battery technology. When technology develops sufficiently it would be great if older EVs could be retro fitted with newer technology, much better than scrapping the whole car and making a new one.
He needs to put the car out asap and develop the battery over time. There is no reason to wait for new battery technology. Tesla even said they would partner with other companies. He could use Tesla batteries to start.
Like most here I say less talk and more action. Lots of good ideas and forward thinking but I disagree with his assertion that he 'doesn't have to prove anything to anyone' because he is the symbol of failure if you look at what he's actually accomplished from what he himself intended to accomplish. He has something to prove to the very market he is trying to win over. No doubt he may be a very talented designer and the car looks fantastic but we see 'concept' cars all the time that never make production. If he was serious, I would think he would want to get a car onto the market as quickly as possible with a distribution, dealer and service network all in place to overshadow Tesla and make the big boys take notice. This is the time for a new car manufacturer to get into the game with volume if overthrowing Tesla's dominance is any part of the goal. But hearing the words and saying wait until 2021 is basically saying that they're nowhere near production and a lot can happen between now and then. Everyone knows that Tesla's stock is inflated by their investors but I don't believe those same investors, frustrated as they are, will give Mr. Fisker the same benefit of the doubt given his history. I think it was all BS about the 'lab' and battery development as there's no evidence that it exists...unless it's in Stark Tower somewhere. The one thing he said that made sense is how there needs to be a very strong Service network and to use the talent that's already out there. But this isn't anything new, just obvious. Interesting interview but if he's still a couple years out before even thinking about production (which you know are aggressive targets), he 'll never catch-up to Tesla! It would be naive to think that he can come out with something so good and that late in the game that will have any real significance. And to do it with all the Sales, Service and Distribution networks confidently in place, I don't think so. He has name recognition only among those of us car people but he would need to prove his wares to the general public. Every major manufacturer on the planet will have a satisfactory EV out by 2021 and his cars could look over-priced against not only new but used Tesla's, Audi's, Mercedes and BMW's. Uh yeah Mr. Fisker, you do have something prove...you have A LOT to PROVE!
Most start ups "waste" investors money and most investors understand this. Incidentally we still don't know if Tesla will pay back its investment, rich now it is a multi billion dollar black hole. There is a chance that it can be become the next Apple so many are prepared to gamble on it.
That interior, those curves, his history of failure, and the stock price, I am very close to buying and investing in some shares. Heck, at least one share because it's like $10 as of this comment. Love his honesty, and he is like me...not gonna give up with all the hate. At least he is still trying. They did not succeed with the lightbulb over night and was many failures. We don't even know how electricity fully works yet we are so dependent on it. Not financial advice. Risk, reward.
To be honest, this is the first interview I've seen if Fisker, so thank you for doing the interview. But my snake detector started going off as soon as he started talking. Nice looking concept car though 👍 Does it move?
"Tesla" & "Musk" are buzz words that get views. I don't think Alex hates Musk, but I think he criticizes him so often because of all of the fanboy channels he is trying to distance himself from. "Unbiased” means he is trying to not come across as gushing over Tesla by being tough on Musk. I understand the thought, but maybe a little overdone. I thought you were going to ask him "tough questions”? "Why do people dislike you"? Is not a tough question. Hold his feet to the fire, and ask for details! Don't just roll over when he tells you he can't comment because he is hiding "secrets" from competition.
Henry Fisker was contracted by Tesla to design the Model S and failed to deliver. Instead he moved on to found a car company in competition to Tesla and failed miserably. Now Fisker is back with another car company, claiming to produce a wonder of technology quickly and in big numbers, while answering all questions regarding production with empty phrases (sharing the supply chain of a big company doesn´t mean you get the same parts and for the same price). Everybody should have a second chance. But Henry Fisker has not only failed more than once, he also keeps on promising that his company will be able to bypass the entire field of competitors in no time, while failing do deliver a proof for that (not only the solid state batteries, but also the fully autonomous driving - " sit back, relax and enjoy the ride" ). I wish him success for the sake of his investors and employees, but I wouldn´t hold my breath.
Are they really working on SSbatteries or it’s just marketing trick? If they achieved reliable SSbatteries why they didn’t publish any scientific paper like Samsung did? Am I missing something?
Like the look of the car and hope his solid state battery comes to fruition.. But really, well the proof of all this is " in the pudding" as the expression goes and they ain't got any puddings out there driving about . So Good luck to Fisker's vision and hope we see some real high functioning puddings out there !
It's a weird design, as if they threw a bunch of ideas in a Shake-and-Bake bag, so that's a no from me. Plus i wouldn't trust Fisker as far as i could throw him. U know what they say, "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is to good to be true".
Good Interview. Fisker did not convince me - too much "vagueness" and "avoidance" in his answers, he is not another Musk. I hope very much that I am wrong. AND: *Nice shirt!* It is likely to set new standards. More likely than Fisker. And again I hope that I am wrong!
Fisker, the guy who made his name ripping off Tesla, and failing at being elon musk. If he was just less slimy, MAYBE he would be more successful, but greed is a shitty attribute to have if you are into business, which sounds counterproductive. If he spent his time PROPERLY developing the model S, he would have been successful. If he didn't blow all the company money on a lavish lifestyle, and spent more time actually working on developing the kharma, and didn't compromise it with an ICE, and actually pushed the engineers to produce it with less flaws, then MAYBE he would have been successful. He had more than Tesla had with a launch, and managed to blow it with his poor taste in business practices. This guy if anything has slowed down EV's by making people more afraid to back a legitimate idea or company. He has a lot to prove before I give a shit about anything he has to say. Talk is cheap, tell him to produce a car that I can give a damn about, and maybe he can change my mind, but in this case I gotta say put up or shut up Mr Fisker.
Nice move. Ostracize huge swathes of potential buyers. They may be 'keyboard warriors' who have 'done nothing in their lives' but they potentially could buy the product one day if it EVER comes out of the fantasy world of Donald J Fisker here and into unimaginable world of reality. It's like the Tesla roadster. It gets announced years before its made. Just do a Dyson.... make the thing and have it ready for production THEN unveil it promising this and that!
Question to viewers: what are your thoughts on the EMotion design? Do you like? Why or why not?
That EMotion looks AMAZING! If its performance specs are as good as it looks it will be a huge success.
Drop the leather interior though! Don't need no stinking dead animals skins to sit on...
It looks nice, has it's own design, but just reminds me of any other impractical super car. Not something which I would aspire to own and I honestly don't see anything all that special in the design. But that's just me.
If Fisker can live up to his claims, the company will be a great addition to the electric vehicle revolution.
Way out of my price range unfortunately, but definitely a beautiful car.
Awesome looking car! Another to the bag of concept cars, ... we can talk again once they actually produce the car!
More vaporware
@@sports4eva115 There's a reason his car was named Karma.
@@EforElectric Alex, honestly in my opinion it makes you look bad and anti Elon, but it's your show.
@M Heisenberg
So you are saying that over a century ago man's scientific research was advanced enough to determine everything that has to do with the detection of atomic particules and the predictions of what they were causing?
Just asking for clarification.
@M Heisenberg
I am not attacking anything you are saying. Just asking for clarification. Thank you.

Well said!
Yes he delivers...about 10% of the time. Also, Elom Musk.
11:54 so... if you are doubting Henrik Fisker, you haven't achieved much in your life... erm... seems Tesla is not the only company needing a CMO.
That certainly was an inappropriate comment by Fisker.
Alex Horn, I beat you to it. Lol
@@imho7250 damn :D just watched the video and remembered the sakti3/dyson stuff. fair beat imho! important issue nonetheless!
Great answers by fisker - they're trying to do something important and difficult. Good luck to them.
Fisker creates the most beautiful cars never produced.
What do I need to adopt electric? Nothing more or less than a full replacement for my current car.

-It's fairly efficient
-It gets my family around town comfortably
-it can carry my family, a guest, plus luggage, on vacation

-vacation needs: excellent refuel time (maybe can live with 20 min for 300 mi range)
-vacation needs: excellent refuel coverage. Get me to yellowstone and back without trouble, get me to the ski slopes and back. Remote locations accessible
-vacation needs: cd/radio/gadget charging

-USED, cuz I'm not paying for no brand-new car; but in good condition

What I absolutely don't need:
-amazing looks
-amazing top speed
-amazing acceleration
-special door handles
Realistically, I think my personal adoption is like 15 years away.
Three quick constructive points:
You’re thinking like someone who’s only ever driven an ICE car.

A battery with very high energy density, charges faster and doesn't explode randomly? Sign me up!
We are not angry because we are against Fisker. We are disgusted because of nine years of nothing to show for it except a lot of people who lost everything they invested.
A CEO called people keyboard warriors.... LMAO
who cares
@M Heisenberg Elon Musk is Elon Musk. Most important person alive on Earth.
Love it man keep it up! ❤️✌🏼
So how's the vaporware coming along? It's July 20th, 2019... tick tock tick tock
Fantastic interview, keep up the good work.
I can't believe a CEO is calling his detrac "key board warriors" lol
Tesla-s HARDCORE fanboys are keyboard warriors
9:12 - is it like a special feature for the lower part of the doors not to close at the bottom? Part of the battery pack cooling?
If nothing else it's beautiful! I hope they make it to production.
Affordable models are the keys to acceptance. Average consumer cannot afford to purchase.
Mr. Fisker when are going release this vehicle. I am ready to purchase it!
Thanks for the video. Very interesting.
At some point Snap-on will see the reto E lower chassis market .Find that universal batt/trans market and Porche will lead, the handling of low center eng.cars is their baby.
I wish him the best of luck!
With fisker emotion stop production do you think fisker ocean will be successful
He’s good story teller. Yet to see anything promising. Just another of his game to stay in the zone.
I’ll support his persuasion. However, I have daddy issues from years of false promises, and what he’s saying feels all too familiar lol.
He has no persuasion. You are very gullible if you think so. I can tell he's lying every other sentence. Fookin weasel he is.
So about two and a half years until I can buy one. Similar to many other EV manufacturing. But I agree it's good for anyone that pushes the EV space.
He is one of the world's best automotive designers. But I don't think the car will materialize.
I like that shade of red.
I hope he is successful with the battery technology. When technology develops sufficiently it would be great if older EVs could be retro fitted with newer technology, much better than scrapping the whole car and making a new one.
I believe him. Sakti 3 has been a leader developing solid state batteries. I think Dyson bought them.
Dyson did bye them.
Very nice. More affordable EVs for the world but Fisker's cars are more good looking.
God bless, Proverbs 31
Good luck to him he wasted so much investors money and IMO still vapor ware.. at lease Tesla is real and has been here for years now ..
Most start ups "waste" investors money and most investors understand this. Incidentally we still don't know if Tesla will pay back its investment, rich now it is a multi billion dollar black hole. There is a chance that it can be become the next Apple so many are prepared to gamble on it.
I guess it's based on the VW MEB platform
That interior, those curves, his history of failure, and the stock price, I am very close to buying and investing in some shares. Heck, at least one share because it's like $10 as of this comment. Love his honesty, and he is like me...not gonna give up with all the hate. At least he is still trying. They did not succeed with the lightbulb over night and was many failures. We don't even know how electricity fully works yet we are so dependent on it. Not financial advice. Risk, reward.
it will take 7 - 10 years to get solid state ready and it'll cost twice as much per cell.
To be honest, this is the first interview I've seen if Fisker, so thank you for doing the interview.
But my snake detector started going off as soon as he started talking.
Nice looking concept car though 👍
Does it move?
Just wow
If product comes out after pilot -- 2022
Cheers
"Tesla" & "Musk" are buzz words that get views. I don't think Alex hates Musk, but I think he criticizes him so often because of all of the fanboy channels he is trying to distance himself from.
"Unbiased” means he is trying to not come across as gushing over Tesla by being tough on Musk.
I understand the thought, but maybe a little overdone.
I thought you were going to ask him "tough questions”?
"Why do people dislike you"? Is not a tough question.
Hold his feet to the fire, and ask for details!
Don't just roll over when he tells you he can't comment because he is hiding "secrets" from competition.
is that a velvet jacket
U know what they say, "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is to good to be true".
fiskar the guy who stole ideas all day long? this guy only lies... nobody using Fiskars xD and never will
And now we know they stole tech from Quantumscape. Still I have to admit I love the design.
Tesla already has solid state batteries. The acquisition of that battery company, they make solid state batteries.
Henrik Fisker rocks!
Fisker stole the initial model S design, that is why he is hated.
I wish Fisker the best of luck. Hope they will make it work this time.As for the Emotion. Good locking car except for the front. That’s plane ugly.
when is any car comming out talk is cheep!
Next year......
welp its next year
Great questions and a really inspirring interview!
Best of Luck Fisker. Great interview by both Alex and Fisker
