My son helped a homeless man a few years ago get on his feet. He later saw him all cleaned up eating at a resteraunt. He grew up with us not having much and watching me be kind to homeless people. I am so proud of his kindness❤
@jhon doe My son was an adult making his own decisions. This decision helped this person and was good for my son in its own way. I only found out about after he had started to help this person. Yes sadly there will always be those bad situations out there. That woman you mentioned made her choice too. She has passed over clean even if the murderer will not.
I have my shit together by all outward appearances, but I'm a lonely alcoholic who hates himself. Young people could learn a thing two from me as well.
Thank you, so much, Ryan, for this. It tears my heart to watch. I became homeless when I suffered a stroke and couldn't manage my finances. My landlord evicted me because I got government assistance when I lost my ability to speak. I had lived there for 6.5 years, but he didn't want a 'welfare queen' living in his building. I was fortunate not to have any addictions or other 'problem issues' like criminal or credit problems at the time, but society lumped me in with them, anyway. Living out of a car is easier than living on the street. I was terrified of driving while I did it, but I managed. I realize that several of these folks are worse off than I was. Many of them can't drive, or get insurance or registration. Ronnie Reagan threw this country into a downward spiral when he closed the state hospitals. Sick people have nowhere to go. Trickle down. lol I have a home now, thanks to many friends and family that pitched in to help me after I had been homeless and finally admitted it. The shame that goes with this is crippling. The cruel people here are cruel because they are afraid that they could be in the same circumstance, and want to believe that this couldn't happen to them. It's just 'inconceivable' for real. (See 'The Princess Bride' if you don't get the reference.) Everyone should be homeless for just a month. It would teach everyone so much about compassion. I'm sorry you have received so much grief for being caring and thoughtful. I appreciate it. So do many others. KOKO. (keep on keeping on)
❤ Koko I am so sorry you had to experience discrimination you should have sued your landlord for that!! God bless you and yours to you and yours best freinds for helping you get into your new home honey enjoy it and them like a queen honey!! Again God bless you and yours!!
"Why, if you have a job, are you still homeless?", someone asks. BECAUSE RENT IS OUTRAGEOUS!!!! OUT OF CONTROL!!! Because people are greedy. The rich keep getting richer & the less fortunate keep getting buried.
Cuz they spend their $ on tobacco, alcohol and drugs, nothing left to take care of themselves. They all have the mentality that they are owed something from others, they wont even work a job because its not a good enough job.
Yep AND Now this covid bs it’s gonna make millions homeless especially ones that walked by the homeless and turn there nose up and ignore them. Help when u can!
I’m a security guard I have a lot of dealings with the homeless I haven’t got a bad word to say about them there nice people I’m allways chatting to them i give them any change I have & I give them a few cigarettes 🚬 & I chat to them I like the homeless there nice to me 👍
did you know that because the homeless are always in the sun if you love them. you will be blessed. you will be cursed if you hate them. because they travel to the sun and everyone else is inside so they are not as close to god
Come on lets be honest, I know not all homeless people are scum, but why are they there? In the west? Its usually because they are a scumbag alcoholic/drug addict, who will rob you but they say 'have a nice day' to guilt trip you into giving them some money.
My mother had four kids I was the black sheep sais my mother at around 10 years old I asked my mother what is a black sheep she said your the runt of the family I would be introduced to family friends as the black sheep and you can have him if you want , My mother couldn’t take me back to the store for a refund. She took me to a psychiatrist and had me diagnosed with hyper activity I think they call it something else these days . My dad tried to be a good father but he didn’t realise my mother’s rejection would always effect my behaviour. I got kicked out of home at 15 homeless for years . I have settled down now and have had the same job for over 10 years . I don’t have a relationship with my parents. I still wonder why no one ever told my mother that she was wrong and needed some kind of punishment for treating her child with emotional abuse. Not all homeless are the same but I think most are probably emotionally abused or physically abused and it can take years of soul searching to find yourself. I myself have walked past children being verbally abused and I have to fight myself from getting involved .
❤️ I understand exactly where your coming from, poor education so people don't realize as parents the damage they can do to there own. Some kids laugh it off, if the parent is equally affectionate and affectionate, you know it's your parents sense of humor. But to just be negative is hard for kids to understand. 💙🫂🙏🏽💙
yes paul she is being punished .you are a wonderful person remember never to treat your children the way she treated you.i watched my brother wonder around in life till he died in a prison at 67 serving 10 years for a dui
@@jhuntley575 I was just thinking about Biden continuing all the wars Obama started. But you are right he’s too low energy to accomplish anything I doubt he’ll even be able to sign any bills.
I'm not homeless but I was in my teen years. It was a rough life but I learned how to cope and get along with other homeless. I'm now in my late 50s and I have respect for the homeless population. Some not all... are actually fun and interesting friends to have. They are real and except you for who you are not what you have to offer. If you pass someone flying a sign please do what you can to help.. you will be blessed ten fold. Even if they are going to blow it on a beer or two.. it won't stop you from a blessing🌻
What an amazing documentary! These people form their own society,, their spirit remains intact and their sense of survival is heartwarming. Steinbeck wrote a book titled "Cannery Row", which also focus' on their society and relationships with each other. It's true that most of us are one paycheck away from being homeless. Most of us have family to help out but not everyone does! The only option is survival and hope.
So true can happen to anyone . I was there at a young age . It still makes me tear up when I see especially elderly homeless 70% suffering mental illness maybe more . These guys I have a big soft spot for n wish I could help them all unlike the officers like the bearded guy mentioned . pieces of shttt
I don't know about all of them... the one guy let slip that he's a "level 3 offender". I wasn't sure what that meant so I looked it up. It means he's the worst and most dangerous class of sex offender with the highest likelihood of offending again. Which certainly would almost guarantee you become homeless, because you can't live within a certain distance of schools, which covers almost every single mailing address that exists, you will fail even the lightest background check, you have to register and inform everyone you live near when you move in, you have to tell every employer, etc. Basically makes it impossible to do anything but end up back in prison for something else.
That says more about the people who are surrounding you than those homeless guys.... Where I am from, most people are quite humble and cool. Even my uni profs.
Because when you're beaten down and have nothing to lose, the self-important veneer goes bye-bye. People get real when they have nothing to look forward to.
I understand exactly where you are coming from shaving spoken and helped them a lot with food clothes showers toiletries etc they are some of most extraordinary realistic yet positive people ive ever met they put everything into perspective in simple terms. They are beautiful from their heart they really are 💟 my heart goes out to them daily
That's what puzzles me. People often say they don't wanna give those people some change because they'll spend it on alcohol or drugs anyway. I live in a quite wealthy area and everyone I know here does alcohol or drugs to varying degrees. It just isn't a problem as they can easily afford it.
Yeah but theyll give it to investors, insurance, govment. ‘The goverments tge addict. With a billion dollar a week kill brown people habbit’ - brother ali
@@Ed-hc5iz The difference is people around you will buy things they actually need first. Most homeless guys will go hungry in favor of buying heroin or whatever their drug of choice is.
Best sign I've ever seen was this guy on the corner had that said"Bet you can't hit me with a quarter" i didn't throw any quarters at him but i did get him a room for the week, food, and some money to hold him over for another week.
CT Rex that's why you will always be blessed. Don't worry about any negative comments. Stay positive stay helping people when possible. God sees your heart. Peace brother.
Wow, just stumble into this hidden treasure documentary 7 years after it's upload. I wonder how are all the people who participated in this documentary doing now ( including the makers). In seven years life can change in so many directions. Good luck to all.
Gotta Love this man who plays the guitar and Singing..! will never Know Till you walk a Mile in these People's Shoes . Good Lord Knows I have . I try very very Hard to Help them when and where I can now . May God Bless Most I have met are Very Nice People
Not so fast! My family is not, but would have once been homeless except that my husband and I cultivated great relationships with our family and friends. We were offered three places to live during our time of need. Within four months we were on our own again. Later in life, we helped out two of our children's friends who needed a place to stay.
@Zackary Kelsay My husband was losing his eye sight, but even then we only lived with friends for 4 months during a job transition. Both of our families offered to let us stay with them, but our friends were anxious to spend time with us and had some remodeling that my husband was able to help them complete while he looked for a job.
HOW HAS THIS NOT WON AWARDS??? I love the sense of humor some of them have. I really like the balding dude. He is hysterical. This needs to be seen by everyone!
The bald fella, hes funny and he so reminds me of the chef in Apocalypse now.! The saucier, who goes for mushrooms im the jungle with Martin Sheen and gets chased by a lion... 'Never get off the boat man !'
Cowboy seems like a guy who could pull himself out of homelessness but I think he really like the lifestyle and his booze, on the streets he is somebody
Almost all of them could with the right form of help from society. There’s a reason that’s not due to geneticss that other western nations have less than 1/10 the number of homeless rhe US does.
Equal oppotunity does not mean equal outcomes. Some of these people actually choose to live this way. Amazing how Americans thought it was heartless for mentally ill patients to be put in hospitals. Sure seems to me that would have been better than outdoors. Maybe those hospitals that were torn down should have been kept open for homeless, but how much do we want to encourage people to homeless. I live in Oregon and sure hate seeing how many homeless come here from out of state.
A country is only as good as it treats the least of them. Killing innocent babies in their mother's womb is the worst, even worse than the treatment of the elderly.
Juan Shaft Patel I’m sorry that your spirituality bankrupt. I hope one day you mature and realize how hateful you were. People don’t choose dependency, mental illness or monetary issues.
Whats wrong with supplying some porta loos and showers these people band together because there's nothing more scarier than sleeping under the stars alone with no money bed food. Showers and toilets are supplied to criminals . Feeling unwanted and criminals feeling wanted something not right .
Paul M when a person is put in jail....the city, county, state, or federal government actually take control, and responsibility of that persons life. But majority of homeless people are out there by choice. There is help out here for these people...but they refuse to do what's required to receive that help. That is obvious.
We have them in Portland. They're incredibly convenient. They leave needles and shit in them, but are regularly cleaned. Better than having them shoot up in the park.
You've just reminded me. There is a woman here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, whom has gotten donated, an old city bus from the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission ), to convert into a mobile shower, and toilet for taking to areas for homeless people to use. Now the city doesn't have a problem with this concept, but the question of funding is the issue. The bus has to be converted. A 'Go Fund Me' is started already, but I am not sure how long it will be before the bus is retrofitted and in service.
This doc was really well made. I like how you just let the people talk in response to questions and let them free-style too. I bet there's hours and hours of the nuttier ones spouting on about their delusional experiences. So sad that the mentally ill so often end up on the streets.
2012, wow a lot has changed since then. Excellent editing and connecting with the people being interviewed, captured some amazing moments. I guess basically we all want the same things and also want something totally different.
I had a few cans of pork n Beans in my truck, saw a skinny homeless young guy w/ a sign.. Timing was in his favor - the light turned red, so I gave him 2 cans. OMG he would have kissed me, hadn't eaten for a couple days. About half hr later I drove past him again, and there he was passed out in the grass w/ a happy smile on his face ! It cost me about $1 , and made his day. It doesn't take much to help people
here in new zealand the homelessness is getting worst then ever.theres no homes,no place to go for shelter.all across the country.theres no hope.more young ones are living on the streets then adults.its disgusting .i wish i could do more to help those in need
bigboy lad001 it's insane that a country like NZ has a growing homeless problem. It shows that the government there is just run by the same pack of lying snakes as the UK and US. I bet you don't see any homeless Chinese or Indians either, just Maoris and Whites.
Well it's hardly surprising!. (I'm down in Dunedin). Living costs are always on the rise, food prices are getting ridiculous. And even though we've seen many an empty State House around the city, a person I know is 157th on the waiting list for a house. Perhaps the government shouldn't have sold off all those houses? Now they've sold them, the house stock is low and building new statehouses is WAY too slow. It's sad but New Zealand is on it's way to becoming a shithole. Pollution, food, housing, wages, crime.......it's ALL getting worse.!!
@Bill Randall Oh, yeah. POS who can't afford birth control or basic medical care or, oh, say it isn't so, abortions. They can't afford NOT to have kids. You could fix this, couldn't you?
@Pretty Fly for a WiFi okay they're edgelord. Let me guess "death is the only thing in life that promised" or maybe " what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"
Great doc, about my local area! Auburn has a crazy amount of crystal meth use, poverty, addiction and terrible, uncontrolled mental illness. Similar to Eureka, CA. Those things tear people down.
love how they can make light of such trying times 2:15 "We're high-class bums, we're reading Wall Street Journal" "That's so he can check his investments"

@MelinCali Are you the person that spilled some gasolina ⛽ all over a homeless person and light him on fire? 🔥 Why would you do that?? Aren't they poor enough for you?!
It is fuckin bullshit!! I was homeless for 3yrs and I went through hell, to try to get an apartment! If God didnt intervene, I would still be homeless. Apartment manager decided to give me a chance, but I give God the credit. Sad world today. And it will get worse!
@@endgame6979 Damn it, it was the apartment manager. You're just like those who thank God for a cure instead of the surgeon who removed your tumor. Sad for you, that you have no gratitude toward your fellow human being, who you can see, talk to, and thank in person. Sigh.
@@jzt999 I am sorry that you feel that way; and that's sad. I believe that God deserves credit for everything. He provided me with the breath in my lungs to breathe, my eyesight, ears to hear, and a heart to feel. I was homeless myself. It was God who gave me strength and HOPE that life would always get better. It was God who provided me with the funds to relocate to a community that was affordable for me to live in. It was God who led me to a shelter so that I could have a place to stay until I found an apartment to live in. God's love provides HOPE....at least for me. Just because you can't SEE God does NOT mean that he doesn't exist. I feel Him every moment of everyday within my SPIRIT. I hope that you will seek HIM someday because He LOVES you very much.
This movie touched my life I've helped a few in this video and then some. I became a minister in Reno for four years where each week i helped support many others with food positive motivation
not all are mental but they may become so because of all the stress, rejection, homelessness, fear, I could go on and on. I have lots of family, but they left me on the streets, no one took me in. Church too. 20 years there. one day, I lost everything. So I became an untouchabe to all of them. Sad. My name is Katie, David's wife.
Hi Katie: I get it. Sometimes the worst part is the rejection from people you thought cared about you. They say "get a job" when you try every day, but if you don't have a home, how do you clean up and dress nice to compete for a job? Especially when you're older. I'm almost 60. How do I compete with a young college grad. And these millenials are having just as hard a time finding a job and an affordable place to live. Many still live with their parents because there is no work or housing. This probem is going to get a lot worse as their parents age and die, and there will be a generation of college educated people with huge student loan debt on the streets.
@Sandra Espanola How does tax revenue or its (mis)appropriation affect the pathology of the chronic homeless? This problem is only getting worse, not better. Time for another approach, perhaps? Liberals: long on emotion, short on brains.
Right. Only real human interaction can help. Imagine if those billions in taxes were instead spent by each individual that those dollars came from. Having lunch with these people, talking to them about life, personally helping instead of putting the responsibility on the govt.
I have watched lots of homeless videos and this one seems to capture reality. Too many other homeless videos lionize the homeless and portray them as victims in a noble fight against a callous and uncaring society. Like the one man lamented; people generalize about the homeless. This video makes it clear that there are many stories and many reasons for homelessness. Some are victims of circumstances beyond their control while others made bad decisions and burned bridges, and still others are mentally ill. I think I am more inclined to give them money after seeing this because I will not feel it and there is a small chance that it might really help someone and a larger chance that they will spend it on booze and drugs that will give them an escape for a little while. Either way it's not a hardship for me and it relieves human suffering for a little while. I will give not because they deserve it but because they don't but because God calls us to love one another. My giving is more about me and my character than it is about them.
Shut up dude. As if anyone gives a fuck about why or why not you say you will give a buck... one year old comment but I'd bet MY change you are STILL a dumb fuck - so I'm here to try to set you straight. You've never been in the street - so shut up, count your fucking blessings and work hard. $1, $10, $20, $100, $1000 will NOT do much to change a life in a place like California. I'm FROM here and I LIVE here, I've WALKED the roads here for years I KNOW what the fuck I'm talking about. Imagine having $1500 and not being able to afford a 1 room... I've been there. No crimes no kids no medical issues decent work history - just no opportunities. Walk into a Pawn Shop in Oregon, Pass a background check and walk out with a 9mm to hold me down sleeping on the train tracks - making Pizza 4 days a week and STILL couldn't afford a place to live ... SteelCowboy ya fucking douche you don't know SHIT about these people and you further generalize against em while trying to make yourself look good in the eyes of your Lord?! FUCK your "character". Can't BUY your way into heaven! God Damn Stupidity like your own!
Once upon a time there were actual groups that made a concerted effort to provide opportunities to people who would make the decision to join a program. Then people from a certain political persuasion and the ACLU decided to destroy all that. Now their best opportunity is prison or a group home. There you go.
@@user-c4b9b I don't have a problem. I am well adjusted and happy. My point was that there are many stories of how people got there and in the end it doesn't matter how they got there. Judging them is pointless. Judge yourself to either be kind and giving or critical and unconcerned. We are saved by God' grace not our actions. We choose to love one another because we love our Creator and he asked us to love one another. Better to love too much than too little, Give because that is the kind of person "you" want to be. Be kind and give what you can because regardless of whether it is used for food or booze it relieves their suffering for the moment.
Having a supportive family and friends makes a huge difference and it appears many of these people are lacking this and it's probably a big reason as to why they ended up homeless. I know that even if I did lose my job I'd never be homeless for this reason alone and for that I'm very thankful.
Huh, odd that I stumbled on this. I've been curious about Auburn and what sort of area it was because of the East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer case (he turned out to have been an Auburn cop). Sure this is a pretty negative lens to view the city through, but it's also the seedy side of the city that a cop deals with frequently. Great documentary!
Harry Puttars Me too. I used to hop trains around the country. I've been housed up for going on three years now. I live in a house right next to the track where they change crews. Everyday I think about it.
Myself..and yeah, people are afraid to experience it. I recommend everyone lose all of their material security once in their lives. All that shit they own and job they think they hold. That shit and that job owns them.
I've been homeless n I understand the comment,"missing the freedom n lifestyle" I've been inside now for a year. Have a good one n GODJESUSHOLYSPIRIT BLESS ALL OF US!!! Papa...
you come to realize the homeless have worms in their eyes and society keeps them from medicine so you learn to pan handle with out any feeling because society owes people.
If I were a high school teacher I would show this video to them and discuss the importance of education, relationships, volunteerism, religion and visualizing the results of your decisions.
Many of the homeless have mental health problems. Ranging from social anxiety to paranoid schizophrenia. Thats why so many self medicate on street drugs. And some just like the "Freedom". But for others, a house fire, Illness, medical bills can wipe a person financially. Many Americans are literally, 1 or 2 paychecks away from being homeless. "Adults" age out of the foster care system at 18, Parents can also ask their kids to "leave".
Thanks for making this. Humanizes the homeless. Not all homeless are bad people. They have families and people who love them and many just caught a bad break.
I have a home repair business and every homeless person I've tried to help by giving them a job, haven't been worth a shit. They usually only work a day or two and then I never see them again. Everyone of them asks for an advance in pay and for the first couple that I made the mistake of giving it to them, never showed back up. Most of these people are professional victims and pray on the good people who try to help them out. If you let your guard down around most of them they will rob you blind.
@@chatroombully lol not sure if you're joking but if you're not I probably would not have hired you anyway. My job requires people to be perceptive, look at my username.
Timothy is a very smart man. When he says that the biggest problem is that we generalize people he is exactly right. Our culture rejects people based on a one word description. Any society that would reject a guy like Timothy is sick and on the decline. Something like our country today.
i used to know one guy i called "Gandalf the 'cray" rambled about conspiracy theories and never let you get a word in. didn't give a shit about you just wanted to try and pull you down the rabbit hole with him.
Please keep calm with your comments, it is very easy to end up in this situation especially in your society where the state does not take responsibility for these people. Its only a tragedy needed for the whole world to be turned upside down for everyone.

I'm doing research on RUclips for how to help families living in cars in my town, that I just found out abut today. Rent has gone up too much for them, and 20 to 30 families turn up to view each new place for rent! My small church has some facilities that could be used, but the parking is un-fenced in residential area. PLEASE, if someone with experience could give some feedback on the options I've thought of below: 1. Soup kitchen (dinner 1 - 3 nights a week) at church building. 2. People offering the use of their bathroom, with a dinner supplied 1 - 3 nights a week or more (pattern of familiarity, for the kids). Also parking in driveway or other spot at their house, overnight. 3. "Bathroom in a box" - shoeboxes with toothpaste, soap, toothbrush, pads, baby wipes, moisturizer, etc. 4. Kids' Club type event every Saturday from 8 to 8 at church building, where families can relax, shower, play, etc, with supplied art and activities, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I walked into a Shelter in Boston to let them know a guy around the corner has a Truck he needs help unloading Cash paid when done.I was met with 'How big is the truck'?.No Laborers amoung that bunch.I unload trucks till I dropped if I was broke.
This is an interesting and objective documentary. Well done. I put it on saying I'll watch it for a few minutes then hop in the shower and start my day but I got sucked in and watched the whole thing. People don't make documentaries like this anymore. Very well done.
I did an experiment ab a yr ago. In a low to middle class neighborhood, I made 1,673 dollars 4 hrs on fri eve and 2 hours sat from 10 am to 1 pm. Total 6 hours. I donated the money I bought shoes , socks , pants , shirts at the goodwill for many homeless people with that money. I was shocked at hm I made though. And I bought each one a backpack . I got some rude remarks but had so many people drop off food and drinks that I would have nvr gone hungry. 2 joints , and about 9 beers. That was my haul lol
People that talk shit about the homeless don't understand what it's like to have no one. Life is hard enough, people deal with different personality disorders due to abuse neglect and genetics. Depression and hopelessness is no joke. That's just some of them. I was homeless for years and I had fun at times, I was young and free, I learned a lot about the world, there's nothing more humbling than hunger. People that pull themselves out of these situations are stronger than 99% of the population. Love and kindness will always win. ☮️☮️☮️
Timothy seems like a well ground black man. Someone should reach out and give the guy a job. I think he would do well the others are questionable of chronically uninterested in bettering their lives.
@@andrewsilver7048 Because liberals think that being racist only applies if you hate someone. But if you say something like, "he looks like a respectable black man", they think that isn't racist, even though it is 100% as it implies "for a black man, he's pretty respectable, which is atypical for black men". Liberals suffer from low IQ.
I was homeless from ages 17-22 living in my car in Phoenix AZ , no a/c ... I worked my way out of homelessness. I remember the day I went to the library, set up a free email and started answering Craigslist labor gig ads. Shortly after doing a bunch of ok paying labor gigs (as long as you clean up youre good) I got a cell phone so people could call me for more work. I had a customer give a bunch of old ryobie powertools and spent $40 at the swapmeet for the hand tools I needed and started a handyman biz and decided to post my own ad on Craigslist. Exactly 1 month after posting my first ad I had an apartment and everything inside of it. Everything I needed. Now here I am at 36yrs old and I have only gone up. I hire homeless people now for helper work. I have helped 2 other people out of homelessness and had multiple just blow the opportunity to help themselves. You pay them an honest wage but some people get $200 in their pocket and feel like they dont need to work til its gone... By the time they decide they need to call you theyre starving and their phones off...
Great documentary. Captures the realities of the homeless. Most houseless people are good, intelligent, an wholesome people. Either insubordinate to society and working, or life has played them awful cards... or just entirely crazy an don’t care about life . Nevertheless we are all people. Help the homeless with food, water, work, education, etc. if you can...
Luke socially insubordinate...... yeah.... that's me !.....I'm chronically homeless.....22 years Clean and sober...... I have never flown a sign.....or shit where I should not...... I stay to myself.....don't hang out with other homeless much.....wary of hepatitis and diseases.......prefer the solitude of the rivers and the forests.......can't give too many details about how I do it......but it's my life and some have it a lot worse than I do..... I do work if I can....but I'm getting old and kinda worn.... I trust God to show me what to do daily.. .. I love life.....but I won't fight to stay in this world when my time comes..... I'll go easy.

Perfect film of the homeless!! Cool people it looks like!! Great job y'all should certainly get an award!! Very positive!!! I used to live in low income housing very very lucky!! I am doing much better now! I have been very lucky for one thing, I was never homeless!
I hate how society views homelessness. Allot of people look down on the homeless. I was homeless once for 2 yeras and theres one statement that bothers me the most. Just go get a job! Yeah why didnet I think of that one my friend. Thanks for the advise as you walk by with a full belly, freshly showered, fully rested from a good night's sleep in your heat and ac. It easy to make statements like that when you haven't walked in another's shoes. I say it like that because there are certain things that come along with homelessness like hygiene issues, lack of energy because you haven't eaten or haven't slept properly. Many many times while I was homeless I would walk in to places hiring and was denied an application just because i was recognizably homeless. Not to mention when I was hired some employers would take advantage of your desperation and would pay you horribly. Crazy things is they had no idea I was a very skilled induvidual that just fell on hard times.
I hope you're much better now friend! I'm close to being homeless and I always help out some when I see others walkin about needing a hand. Hope u see this message! That's crazy about the part about trying to vet a job and them also just taking advantage of that couldn't pay u less so they just had u do a lot of work then I bet or?
It makes my heart hurt these poor people on the street in this day and age this should not be happening but it is happening all over the world, why there are so many rich people who could help because the working class help them so much we should all help each other this is what caring for humanity means x Debbie in England

Trickle down. lol
I have a home now, thanks to many friends and family that pitched in to help me after I had been homeless and finally admitted it.

These people are cooler than most of my co-workers, all of my bosses, and damn near every single person I've ever gone to church with. Life is weird
lol. Like that. So many real dullards but the system is made for them.

We are all . . . a few paychecks, from being homeless !
Not so fast! My family is not, but would have once been homeless except that my husband and I cultivated great relationships with our family and friends. We were offered three places to live during our time of need. Within four months we were on our own again. Later in life, we helped out two of our children's friends who needed a place to stay.
More like one, or maybe two. Maybe.
The economy is a disaster waiting to happen. When it collapses, there will be plenty homeless everywhere.
@Zackary Kelsay My husband was losing his eye sight, but even then we only lived with friends for 4 months during a job transition. Both of our families offered to let us stay with them, but our friends were anxious to spend time with us and had some remodeling that my husband was able to help them complete while he looked for a job.

Cities have tried to do as you suggest but the reality is those facilities get absolutely trashed. It's costs a lot of money to clean up bio-hazards.

Better to love too much than too little,
Give because that is the kind of person "you" want to be.
This was really very well done. Thank you for your work

If I were a high school teacher I would show this video to them and discuss the importance of education, relationships, volunteerism, religion and visualizing the results of your decisions.

Awesome documentary... Thank you.
Don't give in. Single parent for 15 years. Never quit.😮
Such pathos. Such understanding, laughter and love here. God bless them all.
Great video guys, really good point of view. A+ production, love the music too btw. Keep it up
Best homless documentary ever
a sad, yet enjoyable video.
Many thnx to the uploader. :)
Yup.

Timothy is a very smart man. When he says that the biggest problem is that we generalize people he is exactly right. Our culture rejects people based on a one word description. Any society that would reject a guy like Timothy is sick and on the decline. Something like our country today.
Timothy is an amazing dude, hope he and everyone else in this documentary is doing better. ☹️🖤
3/4 of the people in this video are now dead
i used to know one guy i called "Gandalf the 'cray" rambled about conspiracy theories and never let you get a word in. didn't give a shit about you just wanted to try and pull you down the rabbit hole with him.
That's cray
He was probably right...
Please keep calm with your comments, it is very easy to end up in this situation especially in your society where the state does not take responsibility for these people. Its only a tragedy needed for the whole world to be turned upside down for everyone.
Absolutely brilliant film, with a whole bunch of lovely souls being interviewed, I wish all of them the best, and stay safe and happy, and loved.... Peace out ✌🏻✌🏻❤️❤️
Excellent sharing !!!!!!!! Love the Musicians!!!!!

Very inspirational , i'm very thankful to all the folks who struggle out there , you offer the world more than you realize .
How do I get in touch with the guy who made those necklaces ? They were beautiful !!!
Dunno sorry, I didn't catch his address (joke)
That fellow that makes those tends to be around Peoples Park in Berkeley CA. Sorry I could not give you more info.
@@TvshkaHumma yup People's Park near Dwight and Telegraph. I was there in 2014 and man it has changed.
I'm doing research on RUclips for how to help families living in cars in my town, that I just found out abut today. Rent has gone up too much for them, and 20 to 30 families turn up to view each new place for rent! My small church has some facilities that could be used, but the parking is un-fenced in residential area.
PLEASE, if someone with experience could give some feedback on the options I've thought of below:
I've been homeless and there's not a job I wouldn't do
I hire the homeless when I need help moving or in the yard. I pay them well and feed them.

"I have some friends but who doesn't"
haha, well
(sarcasticly) yeah i also felt like it was rude of him to rub that in my face
That's crazy @ thank u for helping out
Great video. really shows the true hearts of the people that are hurting. much love everyone
Well said 👋 go well Brian of the train.
great doc. thanks from U.K.
Timothy seems like a well ground black man. Someone should reach out and give the guy a job. I think he would do well the others are questionable of chronically uninterested in bettering their lives.
What does him being black have to do with anything though? Why not just well grounded man? Oddly specific
@Zackary Kelsay I want Timothys number
It is not that they are not interested they have just given up
It's the saying his name and then still adding his color for me.
Most are not good wholesome intelligent. Most are actually drink or drug addicts or mentally ill
@@JohnSmith-uu3rm soo after all that dribble your point is?? Fuck you write horribly and by the sound of it dumb as fuck,,no wonder you are homeless

Great film, good to get the story from their perspective.
2019 and its 10 times worse.
Its 10× worse cause of the debt the first black president put this country inn..
Everyone who uses the shower should clean it at the end.
This film crew bought a lot of joy to these folk, understanding and validation.🧐there’s more humanity in these folk, than many so called humans in this world.
I think it was a two way street, the crew held the cam and mic but both crew and homeless seemed to be enjoying themsleves
Buddy was cracking up at the other buddy singing when he was getting high. Lol God bless
