    • @dartharaneus67
      @dartharaneus67 2 месяца назад +24

      The funny thing is that, as a dumb kid, when I first saw that "spin around the globe scene" in the Christopher Reeves version, I just assumed that the force of the spin was making the Earth spin "backwards." I didn't realise at the time that the reason we were seeing it that way was because Superman was moving back in time (like the Flash does). It's all about perspective, right?

      @@dartharaneus67 Sadly, that's was everyone thought at the time. Richard Donner got a bucket of grief about that scene until much, much later when the actual explanation became well known. Had that scene been edited slightly differently, the movie may have been better appreciated. Even something simple like a visible distortion around Superman at first, then the rewind perspective to show what the effect is, then a quick "phase back to normal time" effect. Two to three additional seconds are all it would have taken.

Over the years they may have shifted how Supes is portrayed but they never nerfed him and they never made him the butt of the joke. Even when he goes evil (like Injustice), he's still an absolute badass. This show, in particular, has not only given us the almost god-like Supes, but an amazingly human being. Thor, meanwhile, has been made into an idiot. I hope this show goes to into Season 4. I'll def be watching. Well played DC and Tyler H. is amazing.

Second is Tom Welling's, who lift Apokolips (a planet of the size of Saturn) pushing away from Earth soon after achieving his full capabilities including his ability to fly. And third Christopher Reeve, using his strength to lift tectonic plates to repair the San Andreas fault after being damaged by the missile programmed by Lex and his goonies.

    Admittedly, the show wasn't the best depiction of Superman to date, but the opening to the pilot and this scene right here are potentially two of the greatest cinematic moments in Superman history. The true power of what Superman is capable of has never been shown onscreen until this moment, not even with Christopher Reeve. Turning back time was impressive, but going to Superman Prime and literally separating realities is a whole new level. Absolutely brilliant scene.

    • @Iluvantir
      @Iluvantir 23 дня назад

      It's a lack of writing and storytelling skill that's the problem. Superman stories are not meant to all be "Super Big Threat" to overcome but rather "Should I do a thing?" situations. Moral concepts, dealing with choices not based on "Am I able to?" but on "should I do, or should I just help, or..."
      That takes real skill, ability, and storytelling/writing chops to pull off. That is what is missing from media these days. "People want the wow factor!" - yes, sometimes. But some of the greatest shows and Films out now are more grounded, personal moral stories. That's where Superman shines. A bit of "Super" to spice things up, with the occasional "Apocalypse level threat" to really push things... but mostly it should be: How to be a good man in a bad world.
