The fact that this game is hated because of "being the same as the first game" (while in reality is an improvement) but a game like Forza Horizon 5, which is the same as fh4 but worst, strives in both popularity and sales, just proves the hypocritical reason as to why we are here in modern racing gaming.
More so, a Gaming Community hypocrisy. I said that presentation wise, Spider-Man 2 felt like a copy paste of the first one. And I was almost crucified for that.

For me, Unleashed 2 is what the first game should have been. A lot of the issues that made me stop playing Unleashed 1 are gone in the sequel. It's a shame that Unleashed 2 was released in a busy time for games, so it seems it went under the radar for many.
Was there any promotion? Like, at all? Because I just discovered the game was a thing, through this video. It would suck for the game to fail for lack of publicity.
How do games go under the radar these days? You look on the market and see a month before they release. They release and you look through new games and clearly see all the new games. If you didn't see this game then you weren't paying much attention to the online market.
The more i look at the Hot Wheels Unleashed duology the more i wish newer racing games these days would have this level of passion and fun put into them rather than what its devolved into these days. While it does suck the lack of marketting and being connected to the Hot Wheels brand limits the total player base Unleashed 2 has i am glad it exists for those who want to play a fun arcade racer. Hell i put many hours into Unleashed 1 and i plan to do the same for Unleashed 2. Also just to get this out of my system and out of the way this game was robbed at the VGAs this year.
@@serperior2264 The biggest problem was just marketing it to the general audience. But that was something Hot Wheels as a brand was never really good at, so it never even bothered to try. Mattel and Milestone decide to stick to the core fan base and just market directly to them, and it worked. for Unleashed 2, It was essentially "second verse, same as the first" But with a heavier emphasis on listening to the fan base instead of Mattel higher-ups and stockholders.
@Suprasumo93 agreed. I guess the general racing community just doesn't want it to be a Hot Wheels game of all things. No idea why the racing game community avoids Hot Wheels games like the plague.
@@SRGIProductions It could be because Hot Wheels games usually don't have a good rep. They're often praised by fans, but by critics they're often mediocre titles, and if you put nostalgia aside, you can kind of see their point.
as a hot wheels collector its definitely good to know that Mattel cares about the IP alot to the point that the games they pump out occasionally arent generic shovelware but instead really good racing games
@@ShadowAssassin-vb5upwell at least they didn't crumple the dust on me unlike the poor, unfortunate kids of 1971. For context, It was that year where Mattel decided to use an impure form of Zamac metal to reduce production costs. This cheaper form of the metal alloy didn't mix properly when it was slagged and cast, resulting in a very brittle compound that would eventually break apart and crumple the dust over time. these are known as "crumblers" in the collector community and are essentially worthless. The crumbling issue was fixed after 1971, but it was a devastating blow to Mattel's image.
how they handle their new track builder system is somewhat debatable, but generally Mattel has been very cautious with the Hot Wheels brand. This brand is not perfect, but it has a lasting legacy.
Great video! I know this game isn't perfect, but there is a community of us who are very passionate for this game and want it to succeed and for the playerbase to grow. It really is bothersome that people won't even look at this game just because it's hotwheels which is seen as "for babies only". Hopefully this video spreads and gets popular so hopefully more people are convinced to join the race.
"saying Hotwheels is for baby's is stupid mindset to have". As there mostly based of reallife cars. This game is step up from First game in everyway. It's shame people have passed on this title. The game hasn't been out that that long, and struggle to find games. This game super fun deserves more eyes on it tbh.
Glad to see a video on this game. Unleashed 2 is such a step up from the first game. I really wish it was easier to find games online for it, but the lack of marketing, and a lot of people thinking there's not enough here to justify this being a sequel rather than an update to the first game (which I don't agree with) really hurt this game. I think the coolest thing about this game is the new movement options. Jumping, double jumping, and side dashing really help make this game stand out compared to every other racing game out there, including the original Unleashed. On top of that, I actually really like these options being tied to the boost. It essentially makes the boost meter in this game equivalent to a super meter in a fighting game or something, where you need to carefully manage your limited resource on what you think is important to use at the time. If I had to complain about it, I'd say I wish more of the tracks utilized jumping for taking shortcuts, rather than for simply avoiding obstacles or falling off the track. Hopefully this game will eventually get more of a following as word of mouth spreads about how good this game is.
What caused unpopularity with this game is primarily the online mode. People wanted to play their custom tracks with others online in the first game, but couldn’t. This issue still isn’t resolved in the sequel. People were already hesitant that this game was far too similar to its predecessor, but the unchanged online mode is what made the difference.
@@Jellyman1129 This seems false. I just watched a video from a HWU2 online tournament that featured custom tracks made by the tournament host, so it seems like the option is there.
@@Jellyman1129 How is that debatable? It seems like you can play your custom tracks online with friends. How else was that online tournament played with the host's custom tracks if it isn't an option?
The *_one_* thing that's kept me from sinking any money into this game is the fact that all signs indicate that they still haven't implemented the ability to race custom tracks against CPU opponents. As someone who has spent hours upon hours upon hours upon hours of their life designing and racing custom tracks in any racing game that allows it - from Re-Volt to Crashday and even Hypersonic Xtreme, as mid as that game was - the complete inability to actually experience my custom creations without having to deal with all the drawbacks of McDonald's Wi-Fi utterly shattered my feelings for the first game and precluded any excitement I could've felt about the second game. There are good customization-heavy racing games and there are good unrealistic arcade racing games, but there' hasn't been a single good customization-heavy unrealistic arcade racing game since before Ubisoft hijacked Trackmania. The fact that Unleashed 2 could have easily been everything I've *_ever_* wanted out of a racing game, but it just... *_isn't..._* is what kills me the most.
This is why I appreciated little big planet carting so much because they allowed for the CPU to race on your creation. They even had a whole tool that made sure that the a lot AI followed where you pathed, The tool is called pathway finder. That’s all they would need to implement in this game. I’m almost certain that’s why they don’t have AI on custom tracks.
Recently watched your video regarding the first Hot Wheels Unleashed and seeing that you have just dropped a video regarding Unleashed 2 was surprising Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 was honestly the only game I was really excited for 2023 and it was definitely a huge improvement and my personal GOTY. Unfortunately,I feel like the game just didn't get the acknowledgement it deserved and the fact that it got overshadowed by Forza Motorsport which is objectively seen as a worse game than Unleashed 2 personally hurts me now thinking about it.
Unleashed 2 is certainly my Game of the Year. I was also very bummed that Forza Motorsport won over Unleashed 2, especially given how broken the game is. at least nothing from EA won.
In case everyone hadn't realized, the Hot Wheels Unleashed videogames are all about childhood. Even loved the second Hot Wheels Unleashed game for the fact it featured cars from Hot Wheels Velocity X and a skillset system to tailor our vehicles to our driving style.
I used to "double jump" my cars as a kid, and seeing that in Unleashed 2 put a smile on my face. It works so well with boost flying, a carry-over from the first game.
I genuinely did not know a sequel had even been released, this video is the very first thing I had ever seen on Unleashed 2! I'll definitely have to pick it up, so happy to hear that the awful blind boxes had been replaced.
I want to play this game so bad. But I recently got into TEKKEN 8 and Street Fighter. I am a HUGE Acceleracers fan. Haven't had to money to buy this, but now I do, so I might buy it. Thank you for the awesome review.
It's a damn shame there's some sort of Hot Wheels bias in the racing game community. It's what I feel is the real reason why Unleashed 1 and 2 never had a big player base. The Unleashed series is a fantastic series of arcade racers If you strip away all the Hot Wheels branding. The core mechanics of the series can make for a very refreshing take on arcade racers, the only problem to the general public is that they're Hot Wheels games. just having the flame logo on it alone makes it very difficult to advertise to the general audience, If not outright impossible. folks are going to take one look at it and just say "Ewwww! Hot Wheels! what am I?! 6 years old?!" and completely ignore the games outright, despite their fantastic polish and sheer amount of content. These are also the same people who will happily buy every EA sports racing game every year. Fuckin' whales. Marketing tangent aside though, I'll personally play Unleashed 2 over the original nowadays. I just wish this game, much like the first one, didn't cost $50 out of the gate. I think this game is worth $30, $35 at most. At that price point it will take into account for all the DLC, including the AcceleDrome expansion. That was the one thing that was keeping me away from this game until Christmas time of 2023: The high price of admission. tl;dr This game is freakin' awesome, but damn is it hard to market to general audiences.
“Every EA sports racing game” you mean the two of them, and in the case of WRC debuted last year. I don’t know where you’re getting your anger from but it ain’t from a right place.
@@rexthewolf3149 So you are perfectly okay with EA creating the most bare bones of gaming experiences and locking the rest of the fun behind microtransactions? I see where your allegiance lies. EA sucked then, and they still suck now. Cry about it.
Really great video! I didn't know there was an Acceledrome track on this game until I saw this video, so my reaction was probably the same as Moses, lol. It's really sad to see the "traditional" arcade racer be represented by only one game these days, but it's a relief to know how good this game is. The lack of touch with the community is one of the key reasons why some racing games these days fall flat. Yet, a Hot Wheels game nails that aspect! Btw, it would be really cool to see a Burnout video eventually! Happy New Year to you guys!
Thank you! We plan on doing a Burnout video at some point, not sure which game which would be covered first, but it’s in the drafts! And happy new year to you as well
Just as I see this video, I also see that the Premium Edition of this game with all the DLC is like 35 dollars on the PS Store. Isn’t that a fun coincidence?
I feel the same way with this game. There's a lot to enjoy in this game, but it sucks that no one is playing it. Maybe it's because of the marketing, I really don't know. In a weird way, I actually like this game more than TCMF. Also, a fun fact about this game that is related to myself, the MS-T Suzuka, DAVancenator, and Group C Fanasty that they use in the game, I own the exact versions that they used in the game.
This brings back some nostalgia. I remember playing those CD Hotwheel games with the track editor and campaign mode where you could unlock cars to add to a display case section menu
What you said about collaborations with Spongebob, made me think of a few fun ideas: - Burger car with Spongebob and Patrick figures sitting in it - A driving sea shell with a grumpy Squidward figure - Mr. Krabs in a standard boat - a standard boat with Spongebob and Mr. Puff inside - Oh and how about Larry Lobster in a big a muscle boat-car thingy
I appreciate them adding more classics. They need to go further. I think that with the first one, they were trying to market to much younger children, rather than older games.
12:15 and 12:26 are both out of bounds tracks that were created via a glitch in the track editor so it is nothing the developers would ever make for their official tracks.
In my opinion there's a few things you missed or didn't want to talk about this game, maybe due to making the video too long but I feel that should be brought out, there's also an improvement in both the liveries, as you can now do and use stickers for your liveries, and the implementation of crossplay between pc and consoles(excluding switch) as as otherwise the online pc lobbies would most probably be 2 or 3 players half of the time
I know it probably wont happen, but u really want them to make a dlc pack thats just all the tracks of hot wheels beat that remade. I feel like giving those tracks a second chance with the amazing face pace gameplay could be awesome
Unleashed 2 is so much better than the 1st one in many ways. The sense of speed, the graphics, new locations, new game modes. The car list itself is so much better than before, no character cars, so many iconic and forgotten 2000s fantasy cars, a mix of real licensed for the modern collectors, its the perfect Hotwheels game and yet people still bound to complain "same as before". The upcoming DLCs are quite promising, with more acceleracers and highway 35 cars
With the roster of vehicle types you can choose, obstacles, and even sideways boost, this game reminded me so much of the Motorstorm series and how I want it to return so badly. Something along the lines of a Motorstorm Trilogy remaster or even remake will excite me to no end, but Unleashed 2 is scratching that itch for now.
Once I whip some cash together, this game is definitely going into my Xbox Library, seeing that they've fixed a lot of main problems that the original Unleashed had, I am convinced this game is a MUST PLAY for any arcade racer fans, so yes I will play this game
@@UltraViolet_Moses I build like lots of tracks, that one is actually one of the less interessting ones xD the "waterpark" you mentioned is actually out of bounce on the Backyard map
Unleashed 1: acceleracers cars unleashed 2: acceledrome map and more cars Unleashed 3: we are going to the realms baby, and here is your accelechargers
I loved the idea of racing Hot Wheels and enjoyed the first Unleashed for a while, but once I was finished with the initial playthrough it started to show its problems--no real balance between cars, little to no replayability, audacious monetization chief among them. When I learned I'd be expected to pay full price to 'upgrade' the game for the PS5, I noped out and haven't touched it since. I can't see myself trusting the publisher to not do this a second time, so the title is at the very least half-right--I won't be playing this game.
Only person I've seen in this comment section that's speaking a lick of sense, lol. You could make a bajillion videos in an attempt to praise this game and try to tell people "Ya don't know what you're missing", but the sad reality is that most of the core playerbase was burned out by the first game and does not feel like further supporting the companies behind this game because of how the first one was handled, and there's every chance this game will pull the same stunts. It's on them to earn that trust back not on the players to just blindly fork up cash to them just because the first game's 'nickle-and-dime' machine didn't work the way they wanted, lol.
This year I was thinking of getting some games. I wanted to try something different, regardless if its old or new. And after watching this video, believe it or not you got my attention. I'm interested in this game now and I'll probably buy it when I get some extra cash. This game looks very fun to play and honestly I miss having fun games. That might sound strange to some people but considering the current demographic I'm not surprised at all. People always complain about how there's no "variety" in racing games anymore yet whenever games like this release. People don't touch them simply because they're "Hot Wheels" just like you said. But anyways, great review, great video, and nice work! Also I loved the detail you mentioned about the toy cars having fingerprints on them, which to me it really gives off that vibe of playing around with your toys just like from your childhood, carrying them around, and imagining the toys going around a track you made up in your head. I too also missed having elimination type of races in racing games. I did not know this game had one. Honestly those types of races were one of my favorites. That was my thing man. I can't remember the last time a racing game had that type of race.
I bought the game because of this video, originally thought this was gonne be a copy and paste of the first game because of money, but it genuinely is a step up from the first game. Also milestone should just make an acceleracers game at this point
this whole video was super cool to sit through and i genuinely enjoy this game there's one serious complaint. Krazy 8s has been snuffed once again. It doesn't appear in this game or the previous title, despite appearing in both Acceleracers AND velocity X. Feels like a genuinely baffeling omission from the roster for such an iconic car, and to be fair in showcasing my bias, my favorite car. In it's place i use to maelstrom which drives excellently and lives up to my velocity X childhood dreams but i do hope that Krazy 8s makes its way into the roster (despite the fact it doesn't show up in any DLC leaks).
The Classic Mario Cart Wii Menu music had me laughing!!! Love your work Ultra Violet and the amount of time you put into making these videos. I always enjoy your reviews. Keep it up brother.
This reminds me alot of an old PS1 game called RC Revenge. I spent countless hours on that game back then. Im not sure if this hotwheels game has weapons, but if it does, then im definitely buying this game later today.
I got some Gripes with this game: - No handbrake, playing those Boss and Crazy Taxi races make me Beg for one. - Car classes aren't as important as they could be, am I wrong for wanting the same Class identity as Motorstorm? (Like how is a Bike able to punt a Monster Truck off course or Offroad sections being a Minor inconvenience) - More authority in choosing my preferred boost type, I wish I didn't have to Overhaul my car to change the Boost type. (Even some cars still won't change) - Changing car classes would be nice. - I would like a Dedicated Grip car Class with responsive steering inputs or just Rework the Swift class in that manner. (Otherwise I really don't see a difference between Drift and Swift) - Can't immediately Boost after Respawning. ☆ This last part are more Subjective/Need more time playing this game to understand. ● Wheel customization, this goes a Long way for me. ● Personally I don't feel a Difference in Boost type so far aside from Boost management. ● Gameplay feels a bit floaty, I know they're Toys but if these Tracks need Magnets at each Landing zone maybe turn Gravity up a bit. ● Boost Refills for doing Mid air tricks. ● Official paint variants in the form of Duplicate cars would be cool (Though community liveries do basically that) ● 'Number of Downloads' would be nice.
the worst part of Hotwheels unleashed 2 is it's price. 249BRL + 159.90BRL Season Pass 1 + 159.90BRL Season Pass 2 = 569.79BRL, or ALMOST HALF MINIMUN WAGE IN BRAZIL. This is not sustainable to almost anyone. Ig if i wanna play, pirating it is...
I just finished the campaign for the first unleashed and cannot wait to get my hands on the second one. Hot Wheels are one of the biggest parts of my childhood and I thoroughly enjoyed the first one. It realized a lot of my childhood dreams and cannot wait to see how the second one plays and get my hands on a lot of the new cars. Thank you for such an in depth analysis of this game.
Honestly I'd say it's mainly because the timeline of mainline hotwheels games went from, an early 2000s racer to unleashed one in the later part of the 2010s, to less than a few years apart.
The game has a mixed rating on steam, mostly due to being steam deck verified, yet having a bug that breaks game starting lv 3. Also many are not happy how game feels like $50 DLC
I do wish that the "bosses" were custom cars that you had to race vs pooping those little bubble things. As having a scorpion car use it's pincers and stinger to slow us down and zap some of our boost away or have the terradon utilize the double jump in some way would just be that cool touch this racing game needs. That and there for sure needs to be more tracks, backgrounds, hazards etc to add more of that Hot Wheels imagination, be it a snow top mountain that you wind around only to be launched out the top and have to drift all the way back down. Or a zoo level where your racing threw all sorts of enclosures with various animals that try and impede your progress in some way. Even racing threw a Hot Wheels factory wile some of the newer cars for dlc were being built in the background are again just ideas to breath life into Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 in a way that could catapult this into higher heights.
These 'Out of Bounds' tracks kinda look like the Storm Realm and the Water Realm from AcceleRacers. It's so sad that we won't get them, but hey, we can recreate them in Track Builder.
I gotta be honest I’m not mad about how easy it is to get cars. 1. It’s an arcade racer geared towards changing how you drive per car type/event so it doesn’t ruin having these cars. 2. I do think it should be SLIGHTLY harder but not by much, maybe instead 2 days it’s a full week, hard enough to keep you interested but easy enough that you don’t get bored. At the end of it the games about having fun racing, how hard it is to get the cars doesn’t really matter that much.
Grid Legends has an eliminator mode. came out in 2022 personally, I wasn't able to get into the first HW Unleashed game. it felt quite repetitive and I didn't like the career mode, the grind, the blind boxes, most of the cars, or how it shoved the currency you could pay real money for down your throat all the time. I'll give this a shot when it's free or something. ps for the love of go stop re-using that footage for the R8 taking the jump. it's seared into my brain better than my mother's own voice.
Hey Ultraviolet, just watched your video on Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, and I'm hyped! 🚗💨 The Acceleracers Expansion Pack looks like a game-changer. I spotted the Twin Mill on the Hot Wheels Unleashed Instagram, and it's got me even more excited . Also, did you catch the Turbocharged | Acceleracers Trailer? It's epic ]! Can't wait to unleash my inner racer with the new DLC! 🔥
when I saw the trailer, it featured Sand Stinger, one of the ATVs from HW World's best driver, and I was super excited, along with Way 2 Fast, even Splittin Image 2 came back too, I mean it felt like I felt nostalgia about those HW cars from the 2000s. HW Unleashed 2 feels like it featured The HW car castings from Gen 1 & 2 causing HW Unleashed 2 to be having An all star Car casting.
Thank you for addressing the underlying car gacha part; that and the campaign payouts were a big part of why I stopped playing the first game after just a few hours despite WANTING to like it.
The only other game that I can immediately think of that has an elimination mode (my personal favorite game mode of any racing game ever) is Wreckfest, which was another pretty good arcade racer, I wished the modding scene was a bit bigger, that way the tracks could be as outlandish as Hot Wheels.
Responding to the title: Because it is too expensive in my country. $90 for Legendary and $50 for Base game. $50 to miss on a lot of content simply doesn't make sense to me. Bought the first one for 40$ with all DLC, and it wasn't long after launch Edit: As soon as the Legendary version gets close to $50 I'll buy it. Game looks great!
My main problem with Hothweels unleashed that kept me from getting the 2nd was a lack of 2nd chances for the 2nd player. I would always race with a partner and if they screwed up once, it’s over for them with no chance at catching up. That on top of the cars generally needing to be close to the same stats otherwise one will be horribly outmatched.
If you played the first 1 Unleashed 2 is better. Improve to the car classes, the jump and side boost, more game modes, upgrades (skills) optional. I just wish the cars that was in Unleashed 1 that wasn't license was in the 2nd. Back to the car classes it nice to have the high the class the better the car and as you unlock more of the track. A Stock class car is not going to make those gaps like a Powered or Ultimate class car.
If there's ever a HW Unleashed 3, Milestone NEEDS to make sure that we can choose specific cars from the Hotwheels lineup. I know that adding literally 20,000 new hotwheels to a single game is a bit much unless its a huge MMO, but I just want to be able to play as my own favorite hotwheels that I own, you know? Maybe they can do something where you can take a year, and a model of car, and then color it. Like for instance, a '67 Chevelle would be the same as a '68 Camaro or something. All the cars from the same brand would have roughly the same stats.
I didn't even know the game was out. First one was pretty good outside of the gacha, so if that's just gone then I'll pick this up when I get a chance.
I am super happy that they made the acceleracers dlc, but i hope they fix Chicane... they messed up the exhausts... they are not supposed to be on the too, they are on the back... the top outlets are speakers...
I refuse to play NFS cuz it's arcade I only like simulators but dam I love this game lol it's kinda like initial d even tho it's arcade there is still a skill set that can make you good
The first Hot Wheels Unleashed was really fun, but it felt like over half the game was only available as DLC. I'll wait for the inevitable GOTY Edition of HWU 2 that has everything, like I did with HWU 1.
Did they address any of these issues from the first game? 1. There is no search option to find custom tracks, meaning if you see a track you like during multiplayer or watching a video or stream you won't be able to find or save it to play later. 2. Personally made custom tracks can't be played against Ai opponents. 3. Personally made custom tracks can't be played offline except through time attack. 4. Personally made liverys (car skins) can only be used after sharing them online and can't be specifically searched for like custom tracks. 5. Low currency gained for winning races.
I loved hot wheels as a kid, this game looks like it'll be great to check out…When I eventually manage to get to it. Thanks for drawing my attention to it, I think I'd only heard of the first game
I have been wanting to play this so so bad. The first game was really enjoyable but I've been too poor to get it. As soon as I get a chance, I wanna get this
Unleashed 2 deserves FAR more attention. It improves upon so much from the original, ya get more cars, the handling feels better, and everything else gameplay-wise is just great! Blind Boxes aren't a thing anymore AND we have the acceledrome now with more cars to come! I just genuinely don't understand. This is one of THE most bonafide perfect racing games out there yet it flies under the radar for folks bc simcade or the "it's the same game" excuse🙄 Pisses me off knowing forza motorsport somehow won best racer over it at the game awards🤦♂️
Recently bought the first one when it was on sale, and i can say that unleashed 1/2 are the only modern racing games that's worth a full price, they are a perfect reminiscent of beat that but they also an absolute fun arcade racers in the age of boring racing games. The only thing I can wish for is a new live action or an animated hot wheels movie
My main complaint for both games is still the same. Its hard to get to play your track in multiplayer. You can play them with freands witch is very nice. But if you don't have anyone to play with you gotta be really dedicatet and make many tracks. I wish you could just make a track and play it with strangers. Ofcourse it would be a voting and the old system would still be there. Maybe the track suggestion in the middle of the 5 choices could be a player in the lobby choosed a track before he went in? This would make it so you maybe got to play your track in the following week I guess. Instead of waiting 3 months and play every day to see if your choice is in the lobby. Im exgaggerating a bit, but its pretty accurate. At least for us casual players.
we had an issue pop up that we weren’t aware of until now, but in the last segment there seems to have been a render glitch in where a clip of an R8 plays consistently. We apologize for this, and hope it isn’t too much of an issue

Wasn't expecting another Unleashed video! Really freaking cool! This game really needs more attetion!
we love these games! we just had to make another
@@serperior2264 The biggest problem was just marketing it to the general audience.
Agreed
@@SRGIProductions It could be because Hot Wheels games usually don't have a good rep. They're often praised by fans, but by critics they're often mediocre titles, and if you put nostalgia aside, you can kind of see their point.
as a hot wheels collector its definitely good to know that Mattel cares about the IP alot to the point that the games they pump out occasionally arent generic shovelware but instead really good racing games
I feel like the quality of the materials the newer cars are made out of are cheaper feeling than some of the cars from a few years ago or so.
12:00 The whole "race in the environment" thing was done really well in Micro Machines V4. The tracks there were just marked lines in the environment.
That game was amazing! For a total of 720 cars with LOADS of environments and tracks to drive through, it was endless fun.
Great video! I know this game isn't perfect, but there is a community of us who are very passionate for this game and want it to succeed and for the playerbase to grow. It really is bothersome that people won't even look at this game just because it's hotwheels which is seen as "for babies only". Hopefully this video spreads and gets popular so hopefully more people are convinced to join the race.
thank you so much!!
Thx for the Video. This game needs more exposure
you're welcome!!!
Hopefully this game will eventually get more of a following as word of mouth spreads about how good this game is.
thats so nice of you!!!!
@@RednekGamurz That’s debatable. Not being able to play your custom tracks online is the biggest criticism fans have with both games.
They even had a whole tool that made sure that the a lot AI followed where you pathed,
The tool is called pathway finder. That’s all they would need to implement in this game. I’m almost certain that’s why they don’t have AI on custom tracks.
Guess I'll pick Unleashed 2 today, cause yeah it's the game I want.
thats so nice!
You won't regret it
Recently watched your video regarding the first Hot Wheels Unleashed and seeing that you have just dropped a video regarding Unleashed 2 was surprising
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 was honestly the only game I was really excited for 2023 and it was definitely a huge improvement and my personal GOTY.
Unfortunately,I feel like the game just didn't get the acknowledgement it deserved and the fact that it got overshadowed by Forza Motorsport which is objectively seen as a worse game than Unleashed 2 personally hurts me now thinking about it.
The winning of Forza Motosrport was the biggest insult to racing games community. Any other mentioned games were more worth the award than FM.
@gregoryhause00 The game awards are a joke. They nominated an esports coach who didn't coach in 2023.
Go for it!
Do it. As a fan of AR and HW, you will have a blast with the game!
Literally everyone who wants to play HWUnleashed is a grown adult lol. I guarantee like, MAYBE *three* people are under 15.
Its funny how people think a hot wheels game is for kids yet grown adults will gladly play Fortnite and every Nintendo game ever made.
I hope they will ad more acceleracer themed tracks those would be a blast to play through
They did. There's a whole expansion.
Racing ( Boomer ) Community : _"Noooo It's An Arcade Toy Car Racing Game!!! It's Not That Good!!!"_
Me : *"Hahaha Hotwheels Cars Go Brrrrr!!!"*
😁
This brings back some nostalgia. I remember playing those CD Hotwheel games with the track editor and campaign mode where you could unlock cars to add to a display case section menu
What you said about collaborations with Spongebob, made me think of a few fun ideas:
- Burger car with Spongebob and Patrick figures sitting in it
- A driving sea shell with a grumpy Squidward figure
- Mr. Krabs in a standard boat
- a standard boat with Spongebob and Mr. Puff inside
- Oh and how about Larry Lobster in a big a muscle boat-car thingy
Don't Forget, Mermaidman and Barnacleboy's Invisible boat mobile, both visible form and invisible form.
I appreciate them adding more classics. They need to go further. I think that with the first one, they were trying to market to much younger children, rather than older games.
12:15 and 12:26 are both out of bounds tracks that were created via a glitch in the track editor so it is nothing the developers would ever make for their official tracks.
In my opinion there's a few things you missed or didn't want to talk about this game, maybe due to making the video too long but I feel that should be brought out, there's also an improvement in both the liveries, as you can now do and use stickers for your liveries, and the implementation of crossplay between pc and consoles(excluding switch) as as otherwise the online pc lobbies would most probably be 2 or 3 players half of the time
we haven't really used livery editor at all, so its not something we're aware of, sorry!
I actually really loved the character car. They looked so cool but yea. Excited to see the future
Just started playing this game today, and wow! What a great game. So much better than FM.
Once I whip some cash together, this game is definitely going into my Xbox Library, seeing that they've fixed a lot of main problems that the original Unleashed had, I am convinced this game is a MUST PLAY for any arcade racer fans, so yes I will play this game
And I'm really glad, that you showed a few seconds of my track "T-Rex Rush" at 09:54
Oh that’s wicked I had no idea!
@@UltraViolet_Moses I build like lots of tracks, that one is actually one of the less interessting ones xD the "waterpark" you mentioned is actually out of bounce on the Backyard map
Unleashed 1: acceleracers cars
unleashed 2: acceledrome map and more cars
Unleashed 3: we are going to the realms baby, and here is your accelechargers
maybe th 3rd installment will have all enviorments from Unleashed 1 and 2
I personally love the fact that the Acceledrome from acceleracers is a dlc for this game 😊
Im still wondering when theyll release a sequel to stunt track challenge
this whole video was super cool to sit through and i genuinely enjoy this game there's one serious complaint.
Glad you like them!
This reminds me alot of an old PS1 game called RC Revenge. I spent countless hours on that game back then. Im not sure if this hotwheels game has weapons, but if it does, then im definitely buying this game later today.
i hope they make a battle force 5 dlc at some point
Smol car gaem has dinosaur dlc.
I am simple man
I see dinosaur,I play,it gud :DDDDD
Even an office work space would help with floors or even a mall where u go through every room this makes me yearn for the return of split second
There is a sequel? How the hell did I not hear about it before now???
I believe the lack of marketing of this game is another reason why not a lot of people play it
I got some Gripes with this game:
- No handbrake, playing those Boss and Crazy Taxi races make me Beg for one.
- Car classes aren't as important as they could be, am I wrong for wanting the same Class identity as Motorstorm? (Like how is a Bike able to punt a Monster Truck off course or Offroad sections being a Minor inconvenience)
- More authority in choosing my preferred boost type, I wish I didn't have to Overhaul my car to change the Boost type. (Even some cars still won't change)
- Changing car classes would be nice.
- I would like a Dedicated Grip car Class with responsive steering inputs or just Rework the Swift class in that manner. (Otherwise I really don't see a difference between Drift and Swift)
- Can't immediately Boost after Respawning.
● Official paint variants in the form of Duplicate cars would be cool (Though community liveries do basically that)
● 'Number of Downloads' would be nice.
the worst part of Hotwheels unleashed 2 is it's price.
Had a black screen video glitch but I listened for ten mins until I realized lol
Any cars from Highway 35/World Race? Would love to get my hands on Ballistik.
I haven't played the first but got the second. I had no idea this game was even hated and it sucks that it's the case because I adore this game.
Awesome video man!
Glad you enjoyed it
It's sad this game went through the grid legends experience
I'll buy it when I'm done building my PC
Honestly I'd say it's mainly because the timeline of mainline hotwheels games went from, an early 2000s racer to unleashed one in the later part of the 2010s, to less than a few years apart.
The game has a mixed rating on steam, mostly due to being steam deck verified, yet having a bug that breaks game starting lv 3. Also many are not happy how game feels like $50 DLC
Yet people defend Forza....

Timing folks.
nothing like the feeling of narrowly escaping a swinging boulder!
12:24 and actually, it isn't. That's because is an Out Of Bounds track, and I hope Milestone won't fix this bug, otherwise there will be rampage.
They are no water in this game
Grid Legends has an eliminator mode. came out in 2022
personally, I wasn't able to get into the first HW Unleashed game. it felt quite repetitive and I didn't like the career mode, the grind, the blind boxes, most of the cars, or how it shoved the currency you could pay real money for down your throat all the time. I'll give this a shot when it's free or something.
ps for the love of go stop re-using that footage for the R8 taking the jump. it's seared into my brain better than my mother's own voice.
Nice video essay 👍💙🏁
Thanks! 😃
would you kiss him?
when I saw the trailer, it featured Sand Stinger, one of the ATVs from HW World's best driver, and I was super excited, along with Way 2 Fast, even Splittin Image 2 came back too, I mean it felt like I felt nostalgia about those HW cars from the 2000s. HW Unleashed 2 feels like it featured The HW car castings from Gen 1 & 2 causing HW Unleashed 2 to be having An all star Car casting.
the day they add racing realms to the game is the day my childhood gets complete
Responding to the title:
Because it is too expensive in my country. $90 for Legendary and $50 for Base game. $50 to miss on a lot of content simply doesn't make sense to me. Bought the first one for 40$ with all DLC, and it wasn't long after launch
Edit: As soon as the Legendary version gets close to $50 I'll buy it. Game looks great!
Ironically the only other game with an elimination mode is F1 23
Added this to my wishlist and will buy after finishing my recent purchases
Hot wheels games are so underrated but they are such fun, and creative I can play them every now and then and have a blast, even the n64 one
Big amount of acceleracers related content in this video worked great as HWU propaganda and I'm all for it.
thats so nice of you!!
If there was a Hotwheels Beat That remaster in any shape or form, I’d buy it in a heartbeat
It’s a little over $10 on psn right now but I’m hoping to get a physical copy for that price on Black Friday
I respect the game for being different and i have soft spot for hot wheels.
But i much prefer the hot wheels games where the cars are real life size.
First one was pretty good outside of the gacha, so if that's just gone then I'll pick this up when I get a chance.
idk if youve done a video on it but redout 2 is also a newer arcade racing game that is very fun and fast and i love the customization
I am super happy that they made the acceleracers dlc, but i hope they fix Chicane... they messed up the exhausts... they are not supposed to be on the too, they are on the back... the top outlets are speakers...
I refuse to play NFS cuz it's arcade I only like simulators but dam I love this game lol it's kinda like initial d even tho it's arcade there is still a skill set that can make you good
Agreed 💯
The first Hot Wheels Unleashed was really fun, but it felt like over half the game was only available as DLC. I'll wait for the inevitable GOTY Edition of HWU 2 that has everything, like I did with HWU 1.
2:53 I see what you did there...
glad someone noticed
Did they address any of these issues from the first game?
1. There is no search option to find custom tracks, meaning if you see a track you like during multiplayer or watching a video or stream you won't be able to find or save it to play later.
2. Personally made custom tracks can't be played against Ai opponents.
3. Personally made custom tracks can't be played offline except through time attack.
4. Personally made liverys (car skins) can only be used after sharing them online and can't be specifically searched for like custom tracks.
5. Low currency gained for winning races.
Did they ever fix the problem with multiplayer where half the field would be farming and just not actually racing?
I loved hot wheels as a kid, this game looks like it'll be great to check out…When I eventually manage to get to it. Thanks for drawing my attention to it, I think I'd only heard of the first game
Thanks for the visit
I think a problem with this franchise is the INSANE amount you you have to pay ontop of the £50 asking price for DLC. The first had about £150 of dlc.
Well, you've certainly convinced me of getting this game.
This is one of THE most bonafide perfect racing games out there yet it flies under the radar for folks bc simcade or the "it's the same game" excuse🙄
Pisses me off knowing forza motorsport somehow won best racer over it at the game awards🤦♂️
Acceledrome DLC? Im sold. Hopefully they add realms later. I just want World Race remake or a full acceleracers game.
At least for us casual players.
i looove this game!! played the 1st every day, just cuz it was so fun. love the sequel even more. cheers! new subscriber, too.
Welcome! Thank you!
